I can’t choose just one for either of these

😂 A fic that made you laugh out loud

Observations by spinninginfinity (@yoyomarules) is an incredibly clever and funny take on a ton of classic fanfiction tropes and I have reread it multiple times.

Palpatine Buys (Space) Twitter by backonmystarwarsbullshit is hilarious and I hope it continues.

Marriage License by WL_Swarts has a dash of everything but is quite funny (and also allows Leia to go on a small rant about Anakin’s last words, which are the worst and also my favorite Star Wars soapbox, so I will always support that).

💘 A fic you couldn't stop reading once you started

Nobody But Yourself by Knitzkampf is the first big multichapter I read. I think it’s rather obvious that I am a big ol’ Han and Leia stan. Luke has always taken the backburner for me, so imagine my surprise when the first book-sized fic to catch my fancy was all from Luke’s POV. The author describes this as “a quiet retelling of the OT” and I think that’s the perfect summary for it. It’s heartwarming and funny and poignant and I didn’t want to stop reading it.

A journey of a thousand miles by greyathena is a lovely Han/Leia story that spans the majority of the OT and a bit beyond. It’s engaging and sweet and funny and I was so disappointed to see the author has pretty much just written this project and a brief(ish) follow-up and I guess got all the Han and Leia out of their system, because I would read a billion more words from them.

Bloodstripes by @madame-alexandra was a work I didn’t want to end and Identity also by @madame-alexandra has consumed me entirely for the past week. With both of these, I had that feeling when you get to the end of a good book and are like, “What…do I do now?” (Though I have only finished the first Identity story. There are thankfully lots more words to read. I am just having to take a short reading break so I can get the next chapter of my longfic out because her work is very immersive and I feel like I can’t write my own stuff sometimes when I’m too wrapped up in someone else’s story.)

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

Ideas as opposed to wips... I'm really trying not to nurture any, because I have 15-ish wips 🙈 But of course, that's happening whether I want it or not, so one of the newest fic ideas not related to my current wips is TPATS missing moment smut, since I'm rereading it. I headcanon that they slept together during the trip to Bespin, but it's implied in the book that their first time was the night of the Endor celebration, and then it didn't happen again until their wedding night, and Han's bunk room was a mess - so there's some stuff I'd like to... improve about that.

32. Name three of your favorite fanfic writers.

If I can only pick three, @lajulie24 @yoyomarules @madame-alexandra are authors whose fics I always look forward to.

But it was a blip, Leia had insisted, fastening her braids, pulling on her jacket like armor as she prepared to head back to the capital not two days later. She’d know what she was in for next time. She’d talk to Luke about shielding.

‘Yeah,’ Han had replied, ‘or you could talk to Mon Mothma about holocommuting.’

‘She already lets me do that most of the time,’ Leia had pointed out. ‘Come on, Han; you know some things are too important or too sensitive to talk about them over a damn hololink.’

‘Fine,’ he’d conceded. ‘Then how about this: they could run the government outta some other planet not haunted by Darth Heeby-Jeeby the Terrifying?’

‘We can’t just give up on Coruscant,’ she’d said, zipping her overnight bag. ‘From a strategic standpoint as well as a symbolic one.’

Leia leaned down to press her mouth to his again, devoting her time and attention to kissing him until his lips were pink and swollen, to carding her fingers through his hair until it was in total disarray. Only then did she draw back to pull at the t-shirt bunched in one fist.

‘Mind if I take this off you?’ she asked breathlessly.

One more SNOWy fic from @yoyomarules for January!

Two months after the first Death Star, the Alliance has a party. Or: Leia gets Han drunk. With thanks to @hanleiachallenge for their January prompt, “Snow”, and apologies for this being both late and only tenuously related to the prompt.

‘What’s in it?’ he asked her, swirling it around the mug with interest.

What was in it, it turned out, was an absurd amount of alcohol for something that most closely resembled good cake frosting. (Not that Han had ever had good cake frosting, or much in the way of cake frosting at all, but he’d caught enough episodes of The Great Galactic Baking Show to be able to guess what it might taste like.) And it also turned out that in the right company Han could be rather prone to happy sentiment while drunk, too.

He was better than Luke at the not-saying-it-out-loud part, which was good, because about twenty minutes after his first taste of a Triplehorn Snowstorm he was sitting with his chin propped in his hand and thinking dopily about how lovely Leia Organa’s smile was.
