Purple Fog 3/?
Tony meets bb Tony!
[1][2]
As usual, mind the cut my mobile friends!
Tony could hear the two AIs communicating as a faint series of beeps and a low buzz. They could communicate silently if they wanted, but he thought they did it for their respective humans’ benefit, so it didn’t seem like they were talking behind Tony and Rhodey’s backs. Tony clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and examined Bolo’s read-out. The armor wasn’t identical to his, or any of his – the jaw section of the helmet was given the illusion of being too narrow by a wider circumference around the forehead, and the panels weren’t precisely the same colors in the same places, but it was unmistakably Iron Man. He watched as the distant Iron Man flew straight up in the air and disappeared into the clouds.
“That’s interesting,” Tony said finally. He could sense the slight tension over the comms as the rest of the team waited to be filled in on what was interesting. “There is a Stark Tower on the campus with what looks an awful lot like well, me, flying above it.”
“That’s not all,” Scott broke in before anyone else could respond. “I just saw someone who looks a lot like a younger me chatting with someone who looks a lot like a younger Black Widow.”
“And I’ve got eyes on a Captain America and Falcon playing pool. Well… Falcon is playing pool, and Cap is watching,” Hope added. “There is also a Spiderman, and either a kin wearing a Spiderman costume over a pig mask, or a pig in a Spiderman costume.”
“What the hell is going on here?” Steve asked, bewildered and sounding both angry and annoyed. Tony could relate.
“I don’t know,” Hope answered, “But what I’m not seeing is anything that looks at all like an invasion force, unless you count the penguins. There are a lot of them wandering around the campus.”
“Yeah, one almost ate me,” Scott put in.
“You shouldn’t have been flying so close to its face,” Hope said.
“I wanted to see if it was real! It was holding a giant gun in its flippers!”
An alert flared in Tony’s ear, knocking him out of Rhodey’s display and back into his own. His proximity alarms were going crazy as the tree above him started to shake. He fired jets and repulsors, flinging himself backwards as a shape solidified above him and dropped out of the branches with a loud crash. Iron Man hit the forest floor in a hollow boom, dead leaves and dark loam flying up around him.
“I’ve been spotted!” he called out. He touched down lightly and then shot sideways. The other Iron Man followed him into the trees. “Get back from the tree line!” he ordered. With the comms open, he could already hear running footsteps through the trees. He tossed a repulsor blast behind him, but there was no returning shot as he wove around a pair of tree trunks and into the air. Iron Man chased after him, even more nimble in the suit than Tony.
“He doesn’t have as much firepower as we do,” Tadashi said, “but I think he’s faster.”
Tony broke left and fired all of his retro thrusters so hard that he lost several meters of altitude in the process. His stomach dropped, and he felt a moment’s vertigo, but Iron Man shot over his head, leaving his back exposed as Tony regained his altitude and then some. He ended up above Iron Man with his shoulder rockets out and aimed.
Iron Man flipped over so he was flying on his back. It was an impressive maneuver that Tony only attempted when he was flying for fun, or dire necessity. In that position, Iron Man had to keep both of his arms angled down and backward to stabilize himself, and Tony knew from experience that it was hell on the abdominal muscles, even he locked the hip and shoulder joints and rested into the backplate.
“I’ve never met another me before,” Iron Man called over the wind as they flew together, their speed and courses matched to nearly rest-relative. “We’ve had duplicates before – we’re lousy with Spidermans and Spiderwomans, but you’re the first alternate Iron Man. Are you me in there, or in your universe are you like… Steve Rogers?”
Getting over the shock of it, Tony said, “I guess whether or not I’m you depends on whether or not you’re me.”
Iron Man laughed. “Alright, that’s true. Want to take this to the ground? I’ve got some pretty fantastic abs, but this is killin’ me!”
Tony looked past Iron Man’s shoulder to see that they’d left the trees behind and were flying over the campus. In a large square bordered by benches on one side and what looked like an announcement board in the adjacent corner were dozens of upturned faces. Tadashi helpfully ran recognition and pointed out people they “knew:” Steve, looking ludicrously young and dressed in a tight t-shirt with his silver star on the breast and a pair of cargo pants; Spiderman, flanked by the pig-shaped Spiderman Hope had seen and a young woman in a white hoodie; Natasha in a red bodycon suit with a black motorcycle jacket and red glasses; Sam in his Falcon gear; Rhodey as a young man in a gray digital camouflage and a shoulder rig; Vision in a long yellow coat, and the Hulk looming at one side of the square with his massive arms crossed over his equally massive chest. There were dozens more that Tony couldn’t identify, including what looked like a raccoon in a leather vest with a gun.
“Doesn’t seem like I have much choice,” Tony said finally. He pulled the shoulder rockets back into their housing and rolled right, letting Iron Man turn over. Switching back to the internal comm line, he said, “Get back to the rendezvous and stay out of sight. I’m going to land and see what’s going on here.”
“Iron Man… Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Steve asked tightly.
“I don’t have a lot of choice at the moment, but I don’t think they realize you’re here yet. Just get clear, stay under cover, and wait for my word.” Tony pulled up in a hover, watching Iron Man do the same. Keeping pace with his counterpart, Tony lowered himself to the ground. Underneath them, the crowd of bodies parted to leave them a clear landing zone.
“We’ve got your six, Iron Man,” Scott whispered. “Well, I’ve got your six. Hope has your… Eleven-thirty?”
Tony felt his right eye twitch. “Thanks.”
As soon as they were on solid ground, Iron Man reached up and tapped the side of his neck. The faceplate opened and the helmet peeled back, revealing a face Tony hadn’t seen in decades – himself, maybe nineteen or twenty years old, before the world had etched care and trauma into the corners of his eyes. Tony was so stunned by it that he could only stare, his breath coming in shaky waves that echoed hard inside the helmet.
“Boss? Based on facial recognition –”
“It’s me,” Tony broke in. “That’s me.”
“So,” Tony’s younger self asked, “Are you here to start a fight? If you are, you need to register with Hill – she’s in charge of organizing those things. I can take you to the admin building if you want. Did you bring minions? Please tell me it’s robots! I can make robots to fight your robots. Steve is gonna be so mad,” he continued excitedly, pumping his fist into the air.
Tony held up a hand before the manic gleam in the younger man’s eyes got past the point of idea to activity – Tony remembered that feeling very well, the swelling excitement, the way his legs used to tingle with the need to move and get things accomplished, when he’d felt so flooded with energy and anticipation that it felt like he was going to explode. Tony hesitated, but then reached up and retracted his own helmet.
“Oh,” the young Tony said disappointedly, “You’re old.” He squinted his eyes. “You better not be Howard.”
Tony saw a rustle of movement behind the young Iron Man and Rhodey stepped up to his side. The sight of him made Tony’s breath catch – this was the James Rhodes that he’d been more than half in love with as a boy, the James Rhodes who had befriended him at MIT and spoke up for him quietly among the other students, but never stepped in front of Tony when he was confronted directly. The James Rhodes that had calmed the wild anger in Tony’s chest and helped him move past the pain and disappointment of Howard’s abuse and his mother’s neglect. He’d held Tony’s hand at his parents’ funeral, and nursed him through dozens of hangovers. This young face, too, had not yet felt the crushing weight of wars, wasn’t terrorized by nightmares, or disenchanted by politics.
“I’m not Howard,” Tony breathed. His throat was tight and he could feel the prickling burn of tears at the corner of his eyes. “I’m.” He cleared his throat and pushed aside the flood of memories from the happy years at MIT. “My name is Tony Stark. I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I’m not here to fight you. No robots necessary.”
Young Tony looked so immediately despondent that Tony almost apologized, but the young Rhodey put an arm around his shoulders. “Why don’t we go supe up the roombas so they can chase after the penguins?”
Iron Man perked up and twisted to look into the crowd. He grinned at Sam standing stoically at the young Steve’s side, and then said, “I think I have a better idea.”
“My God,” Tony said, finally really looking around the gathered crowd. “You’re all so young.”
None of them looked like they could be older than twenty-five, and most looked significantly younger. He flicked his wrists to roll his gauntlets back and rubbed at his face, pushing his thumbs into his temples to feel the pressure of it. He couldn’t figure out what was happening, or how these kids could have been responsible for the fog surrounding New York. He couldn’t even figure out how these could possible exist.
After several moments of quiet, a rustle of chatter went through the crowd. They parted slowly, and Nick Fury walked through the opening with his hands clasped behind his back. Behind him, a tall, willowy man with blond hair and a goatee, a woman in a black and green leather outfit that screamed Dominatrix, and a Viking who stood head, shoulders, and most of his chest over Nick’s head. He didn’t recognize the other three – though he had a sinking suspicion about the Viking but even Nick look young. Older, perhaps, than the kids around them, but young. Maybe middle thirties.
“Welcome to Avengers Academy, Iron Man,” Nick greeted, and he had an actual smile on his face. Tony hadn’t seen Nick Fury smile since he’d been a boy, maybe not since before Howard and Mom’s funeral.
“Nick,” Tony greeted cautiously. “What exactly is Avengers Academy?”
“Training grounds for heroes,” Nick provided readily. He made a broad gesture with one hand, inviting Tony to look around them. More buildings, very few of them following the same style. He could see the golden tower to one side, a cylinder of a building beyond that, the lab Steve had mentioned with a sparking set of Tesla coils on top, behind Tony was a stadium, and just barely visible beyond that was what looked like a Gladiatorial arena.
Tony eyed the surrounding kids, Nick Fury looking half his age, the Hulk standing more-or-less tamely among a crowd of people, even Vision, somehow looking like a teenager. He locked eyes with Nick. Their relationship had soured after Tony’s parents’ death, but Nick had once been “Uncle Nick” to him, had been a friend to Jarvis and Peggy, had been at Tony’s birthdays and the Thanksgiving table.
“Are you responsible?” Tony asked, gesturing behind him to the wall of fog visible over the tree tops. “Have you done this?”
CUT
He could have been imagining it, but he thought Nick’s good eye widened at the question before his expression shut down in that mask that had eventually driven a wedge between them. Inscrutable, hiding secrets he refused to divulge even if it meant lives, even if it meant Tony’s life. Tony felt a rash of disappointment and turned away from him.
“We’re not,” the young Steve spoke up. “We’ve been trapped here for…Whew. As long as I can remember.”
Tony nodded faintly. “In my... universe,” he said, trying not to laugh, “the city of New York has been surrounded by this fog. All the probes I sent through came here. I’m here to bring it down.”
Nick snorted, “You’re welcome to try.” He held up one hand to forestall Tony’s immediate response and added, “We didn’t put it here, but it sounds like we’ve been working a lot longer than you to bring it down. We’ve had some very minor success, but, as you can see, it’s still there.”
The young Iron Man snapped his fingers in sudden excitement and ran off through the crowd, nudging people out of the way. Rhodey widened his stance to step into the place his friend had just abandoned, crossing his arms and eyeing Tony suspiciously. It was surreal, staring at Rhodey and thinking how young and innocent, and happy he looked. The crowd broke into small groups of whispering young people, but the feel of it was so different than the times he’d been on college campuses. The morning Steve and his team were supposed to be in Lagos, Tony was supposed to be preparing for a talk at MIT to announce the September Foundation and the scholarships for MIT students. He’d granted scholarships to universities and community college before, had run a smaller program through the Maria Stark foundation for women in STEM for almost a decade. He was used to college kids, but these kids were different. Some of them were younger even than he was used to facing, but they were weighed down with weapons and some of them were even dressed in ridiculous costumes, and some of them stood next to their twins. It was eerie.
After several long minutes passed where the chatting grew gradually louder, and some of the kids even lost interest and wandered away, Iron Man returned carrying two of Tony’s drones against his chest. He jostled them in his arms. “These are yours?”
Tony bobbed his head.
“We found almost fifty of them in the woods,” Nick said. “That’s a lot of drones for one man to come through on his own.”
“I only ever got one of them to come back,” Tony pointed out reasonably.
“That makes sense,” Iron Man said easily. “I’ve been sending drones in forever, and I’ve never gotten any of them to come back. I know I wouldn’t take anyone else through the fog with me if I wasn’t sure they’d even make it through. Did you ever find any of mine?”
Tony shook his head mutely. “The fog has only been in New York for a few days.”
Iron Man frowned. “We’ve managed to uncover areas of the fog that seem like they’ve been just brought here from other places. Maybe… Maybe the fog is trying to take your city and bring it here.”
Tony pointed between two of the buildings at the familiar crush of skyscrapers and apartments beyond the walls of the academy. “Looks like you have a New York City of your own already here.”
Iron Man waved one hand awkwardly, still clutching the drones against his chest. “There’s only about three blocks in and four down to the dock. After that, it’s just fog. The buildings are all fake – there’s no way in to any of them. Doors and windows are covered up by concrete, the manholes are painted onto the street. Out to sea, you could go on forever and ever, but there’s nothing.”
Examining his younger self and all the young kids arranged around him, Tony said, “There were eddies in the fog.”
“I thought those might be portals,” Iron Man interrupted. “But I’ve never been able to get anything to transmit through them. I even tried to send some of your drones. I’ve repaired – and seriously, also, just to let you know, improved on – well, Moongirl I did, but whatever. We made them better. We’ve sent thirteen of them through. Nothing transmits, nothing comes back.”
Tony swallowed and let out a controlled breath. They’d all known there was a chance that it would be a one way trip. He just hoped that their one way trip didn’t spell out the end for the city they’d left behind. “That changes things,” he decided. “I was hoping for someone to punch in the face.”
“Just what we need, another punch happy idiot.”
The voice inspired an immediate reaction in Tony. Snapping the gauntlets back up, Tony charged the repulsors and whirled to point them at Loki. The whole quad reacted, weapons charging and fists coming up. Startled, Loki as a boy just as young as the others, put both of his hands up. His eyes were almost comically wide, and God, he looked like any prep school punk Tony had gone to school with – black hair neatly disheveled, dressed in black and green blazer and matching pants. The only thing he carried that Tony’s classmates hadn’t, was a familiar golden staff.
“Loki,” Tony greeted tightly. He remembered Clint screaming his way out of nightmares, Bruce startling himself awake when he’d fallen asleep at a table, checking his skin for a hint of green pigment in a panic. He remembered the sight of the Chitauri ships through the portal into the void, the pressure of it against his skin, Jarvis’ voice fading out.
“Have we met?” Loki asked. His voice broke in the middle of it, turning the question into a squeak.
Tony looked around unhappily. He was surrounded, vastly outnumbered, and whatever madness was going on in this place, Loki – this teenage boy – was a part of it. He knew that Loki had the power to change his shape, and wondered if the whole situation could be of Loki’s creation. What would he possibly have to gain by inserting himself into a world where he and all of earth’s heroes were little more than children, trapped in an interminable fog?
From the crowd behind Loki, a larger figure pushed past a young blond woman in green and gold. Thor, looking like a frat boy linebacker, put a big hand on his brother’s shoulder.
“I don’t know you, Iron Man,” Thor rumbled, “But if you are at all the man who has been my friend, please. Lower your weapon.”
Loki glowered up at him, but Thor looked even more open, and cheerful, and guileless than he had the first time Tony had seen him grinning at the hellicarrier as if charmed by the futile attempts at technology of his human hosts. Tony looked right and left, and then noticed the specks of flying ants drifting lazily over Loki’s head. It wasn’t just Tony’s safety at sake – if he attacked, Hope and Scott would give themselves away trying to help, and they wouldn’t help balance the odds at all. Without his helmet up, he couldn’t tell them to back off privately, and if he said anything aloud, it would just give away their position.
Tony slowly lowered his arm. A grin broke out across Thor’s face and he pounded Loki happily on the back. Loki stumbled under the force of it, and then straightened up and gave Thor a poisonous glare. At least that hadn’t changed.
“I think we’re on the same side, here,” Nick said after a tense moment while the whine of Tony’s repulsors faded. “So why don’t you ask your friends to come out of the trees, and we can sit down to a meal, and talk about this like adults?”
Looking at all the relative children around him, Tony sighed. He could try to deny that he had in friends in the trees at all, but he could tell from the cant of Nick’s lips that he knew already. The trees were thin, and unless Steve made the extremely risky decision of trying to retreat back through the fog, they had nowhere to go. He pulled his helmet back up and keyed into the comm system. A burst of low, urgent arguing immediately flooded the airwaves.
“There’s no place we can retreat to, and we don’t have the gear or supplies for some kind of cat and mouse game, not with how small this forest is. If we’re going to go in and get him back, we have to do it now before they know we’re here.”
“I think Tony’s handling it fine,” Hope argued.
“Tony is handling it fine,” Tony broke in. “Whatever weirdness is going on here, I don’t think these people are controlling the fog, and they’ve been studying it a lot longer than we have. If we have any chance of getting this fog lifted from New York, I think we’re going to have to work together. Though keeping Peter, Hope, and Scott hidden away might not be a bad idea. Just in case.”
Silence followed while everyone chewed over Tony’s words. He could practically hear Steve’s gears grinding. “If you think we can trust them,” he said with a breath.
“I think we don’t have a lot of other choices,” Tony corrected. “Kid-Loki is here.”
“And that led you to the conclusion that we can trust them?” Rhodey demanded.
“He’s a kid,” Tony stressed. “Patch into my display.” There was a beep and then a small round picture of his best friend caught with his mouth comically open as he chased a sliding string of cheese from a piece of pizza popped up in the right-hand corner.
“Hey, Bolo,” Tadashi greeted. “Check this guy out.”
Tony turned his head so Loki was once again centered in the display. Like everyone around him, Loki was eyeing Tony suspiciously. He looked even younger with his mouth pursed in displeasure and eyebrows knitted together.
“Woah,” Rhodey said finally. He huffed out a breath. “I still don’t like it.”
“We can’t go back through the fog – my… younger self has never gotten a single drone, even mine to get through the fog. There’s nowhere in the forest to hide, the city is filled with fake buildings, the ocean is apparently endless. What other choice do we have?”
“No,” Steve broke in. “We don’t. Alright, Hope, Scott – find some place to hide and stay small as long as you can. Peter, back up in the trees. Stay out of sight and stay on the comms. Keep an eye on the campus and let us know if you see anything weird going on.”
“Cap?” Hope broke in, “I think.” She cleared her throat. “I think my parents are down there. Some version of them. My mother is younger than I am.”
“We’re not interested in fighting if we don’t have to,” Steve said gently. “And once we know what we’re up against, you can talk to them.”
She said nothing, but made a vague noise of agreement.
Tony pushed his helmet back and flashed a smile at the surrounding crowd. More of them had moved away, leaving Tony surrounded by what seemed to be a core group of characters – Nick and his three companions, Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, the girl he’d seen earlier in her yellow shorts, War Machine, Falcon, Thor and Loki.
They waited in uneasy silence until motion at the tree line caught their attention. Steve came through first, his shield out but arm down at his side. Rhodey, Sam, and Natasha followed afterward. They were tense as they moved down the path to the square, and their younger counterparts spread out to meet them.
The young Rhodey poked at War Machine’s tank armor, examining it curiously. “Cool,” he decided.
Rhodey retracted the helmet. He hiked an eyebrow at his younger self, and then finally said, “Tony and I made it.” He gave Tony an uncertain glance over War Machine’s head. “Cool shoulder rig.”
War Machine gave him a sly look. “Tony and I made it,” he said.
“This is going to be fun,” Tony muttered.
“Way fun,” Iron Man agreed. He held up a fist, and then cautiously added, “Iron Man bros?”
Tony glanced down at his fist, and then thought of how many times he’d been brushed aside by an adult, an older student, a potential friend. He summoned up a smile and tapped his knuckles against his younger counterparts. “Iron Man bros,” he agreed.

Dear Yuletide writer,
I’m 100indecisions on AO3. just based on numbers of requests/offers in the signup summary, it seems fairly likely that you matched with me on Avengers Academy, but it’s also slightly possible it was Silent Hill 3 or The Bifrost Incident. numbers also indicate nobody else requested or offered my other two fandoms, but I’m including them here anyway in case you or anyone else wants to take a stab at them. (there’s also this post if you want a little more info about why these fandoms are cool and where to find them.)
regardless! the important thing as always is that you have fun writing the fic, and for the most part everything that follows is just a suggestion. whatever you come up with, I’m sure I’ll love it.
I feel like…most of the fandoms I requested aren’t too likely to lead to fics with my major DNWs, probably. I wouldn’t want to see dubcon or significant manipulation in a relationship that’s supposed to be positive and healthy, for instance. I’m not opposed to explicit sex scenes of any kind, although I often end up skimming them because I’m the type of ace person who is just Not Interested in most of the physical aspects, so…you’re welcome to write sex scenes if it’s relevant but you absolutely don’t have to feel like you need to.
in general, my biggest DNW is unhappy endings. I’m thrilled to see my favorite characters go through all kinds of hell to get there, so for most of these I would be very happy to get something tagged Crueltide, but I also like things to be okay or at least hopeful by the end. if canon is the unhappy part in one way or another, I’m always happy to read fix-it fics. Between post-canon fix-its that could reasonably happen in the future and canon-divergence AUs where things are okay now because of some mid-canon change, I have a slight preference for the former, but both are good.
as for stuff I like, well, the other thing implied by my main DNW is that I do often enjoy fairly dark fics, as long as they end okay. I also like Loki a lot, as you can probably guess from my requests. if you ended up matching me on Avengers Academy Loki or Bifrost Incident Loki, and/or you want to take a stab at one of the other Loki-centric requests, the Loki fics I’ve actually written are pretty representative of stuff I like in my Loki fics, which basically boils down to “sympathetic interpretations always, with loads of angst and/or whump on the way to a reasonably happy ending”. I tend to take a somewhat lighter tone in general with my Avengers Academy fics (I’ve written several of those and only one of them doesn’t involve Loki at all, so…yeah I have a one-track mind where Loki is concerned), although I did also write a pretty damn whumpy fic for AvAc Loki. I’m very invested in the relationship between Thor and Loki as brothers, although Thorki is usually a personal squick. for things that aren’t necessarily Loki-related, I like found families and deep friendships, sibling bonds, stories about characters reclaiming their own agency from some outside force and/or figuring out how to take control of their own narratives, and probably plenty of other things that aren’t coming to mind at the moment. I’m equally good with plotty fics and little slice-of-life or introspective pieces. I will always always always be happy to see queer characters, especially asexual ones.
more detail about my specific requests, basically just expanded versions of what I wrote in my sign-up:
Silent Hill 3 (Heather Mason). I love this game and that’s mostly because of Heather–she’s resourceful, brave, and incredibly tough, and the game is essentially all about her reclaiming her agency (in a very literal, physical way) from people who used her for their own ends. Anything that gets into Heather’s head would be great, whether it’s a missing scene of some kind during the game or something afterward that explores what she does next, how she recovers from a frankly massive amount of trauma, and how she reconciles the various layers of her identity. The ways in which Heather, Cheryl the child, and Alessa both are and are not the same person are endlessly fascinating to me, and it seems like she probably has a lot of weird memories bouncing around in her head at this point--and possibly some extra trauma from Alessa’s memories of things Heather never physically experienced, as if she doesn’t have enough to deal with already. I would also really love to see something involving Angela and/or Maria from Silent Hill 2; I’m not sure how the timelines would line up (although realistically, considering the setting, that part would be trivial to handwave) but the way Heather basically said “fuck you, you don’t own me” to the cult makes me want to see other female characters find their own agency as well, and it would be really awesome if Heather found a way to help them do that, either by helping them directly or just by influencing the way the town operates. in general, I love these games for their atmosphere and symbolism, so anything you can do along those lines would be great.
Avengers Academy (Loki, Thor). I still miss this game. I especially miss Loki, who was a snarky little bastard but really not a bad dude. Mostly I’d be thrilled to see anything that focuses on him (or her, I super loved Loki’s canonical genderfluidity) developing actual friendships at the academy, with any characters who might be relevant (Steve, Natasha, America Chavez, Nebula, Union Jack, Angela, Jane Thor, really anybody). Working things out with Thor and/or the rest of his family is always good too; Loki’s Frost Giant storyline didn’t involve Thor at all, for instance, probably because it was written long before Thor was added to the game, so I’d be interested to see how things went when he found out his brother was a Frost Giant. I’m also always happy to see crossovers of some kind with other Marvel universes, especially considering AvAc was an interesting patchwork of film and comics canon; meta stuff where characters are aware of their multiverse counterparts is always fun (again, my own AvAc fics are pretty representative of what I like…and if you wanted to build off anything in those, I’d be thrilled). and hey, if you want to pick up or expand on any of the plot threads the game never really got around to, like more about the Academy’s supposed mole, the actual nature and origin of the timefog, or other worldbuilding-related stuff, that would be awesome. random slice-of-life stuff is also fun; so is expanding on any of the event plotlines or digging into in-world reasons for various gameplay decisions (way back during the Civil War event, for instance, Loki was one of the characters who could do stuff to earn points for Team Cap even though this didn’t come up in dialogue--it was almost certainly because they needed another non-event character to round out the rosters, but it would also make a fun premise for a fic). I’d also be happy to see something post-canon, showing what characters are up to now or doing some kind of reunion. I’m realizing somewhat belatedly that last year I only requested Loki because that’s the character I wanted most, and this year I requested both Loki and Thor even though my actual wishes haven’t changed, which...I’m not sure if that’s a potential matching problem or not. But just to be clear, the only character I require is Loki, and everything else is basically a suggestion. If there’s a character I haven’t listed but Loki had an interesting interaction with them, or they never spoke but you think they’d play off each other in fun ways, go for it.
The Bifrost Incident - The Mechanisms (Loki, Thor, Sigyn). I...need a fix-it. Like, for these characters specifically, but also for the universe in general, because the premise of this album is absolutely fascinating but I can't deal with tragedy, so--I need somebody to fix it. Somehow. I mean, I would also be very interested in pretty much anything about Loki and Sigyn, backstory or otherwise (especially if there’s Loki whump due to cosmic horror in general or Odin being a dick specifically, because...I am who I am), or Loki’s relationship with Thor, or...yeah, pretty much anything Loki-centric? But also I am a baby who cannot deal with tragedy so I gotta have like...at least a hint that things are going to end up differently than in canon. Or if you really don’t want to do that, speculate on this universe’s version of Valhalla or something, I don’t know. And yes, even though this isn’t a Marvel universe, I would also be very happy with some type of crossover/fusion with the MCU or another Marvel universe.
Loki: Where Mischief Lies - Mackenzi Lee (Loki). I had a lot of issues with this book and I’m not sure how much of that is just me not appreciating what the author was doing with an unreliable narrator (in part because I’m already pretty attached to certain interpretations of Loki) and how much is the author not quite doing it right, but I’d love to see something that would…make it make sense internally in terms of Loki’s motivations and actions. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a fix-it, although I’d love one of those too, with Loki reuniting with Theo and/or actually reconciling with his family. A giant crossover that includes this Loki with other major versions of Loki could be fun too. I’ve been planning for a while to write up some kind of actual review to articulate what about this book didn’t work for me, and I’ll update this post with a link when I do that, although…again, I know nobody else offered or requested this one. (if you think it sounds fun or you just want to read this book in general, my library actually has the ebook on Hoopla, so it’s worth checking to see if your library does too.)
What If... Thor Was Raised by the Frost Giants? (Loki, Thor). This is such a great little AU and I need MORE. Slice-of-life stuff with Thor and Loki growing up (and Laufey being an abusive bastard to Loki)? Fix-it where Freyja survives or somehow gets brought back? Post-canon fic picking up immediately after the end of the comic? Far-future speculation about what the present-day Marvel universe might look like with this change in its history? Literally anything post-canon about Thor and Loki tentatively reconciling? YES PLEASE. As always, biggest DNW is unhappy endings.

General Rules
No shipshaming or kinkshaming will be tolerated. This is an all inclusive event so be respectful. Anyone not able to follow this rule will be removed from the event.
Eligible characters and pairings:
Any and all characters from any incarnation of Iron Man cannon (MCU or comics). Any pairings and ratings are acceptable, but certain ratings will be unavailable to under 18 participants.
Under 18 years old:
Authors may only write and submit G to T rated fic and artists may only claim G to T rated fic.
For the legal safety of all participants if you are under the age of 18 before the claims date you may only be involved in specific ratings types as a precaution. What you create in your own time is your business, but this event is meant to be fun and safe for all involved so please be respectful of all participants and follow this rule.
Claims dates and times:
Dates and times generally cannot be changed. The mods are all busy people with very limited time who are trying to make this as easy for everyone as possible. Proxies may be used if needed on the day of claims if this is an issue.
However, the claim sheets will be open for a few days, so if you miss the exact date, you may have a chance to still claim something - but keep in mind it’s on a first come, first serve basis, so you might not be able to pick your favorite choice.
Please use www.timeanddate.com/worldclock to see what time claims are for you. (We will set and post a set event time converter closer to the dates of live events)
Claims requirements:
Title: either settled or working title is fine
Archive warning: major character death, under age, graphic depiction of violence, rape/non-con, not applicable (if none apply)
We ask that you don't use Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings for this event as it has caused some issue in the past and we want to be as inclusive as possible so please keep this in mind when writing your works.
Rating: G/T/M/E
Pairings: main, minor/background, and any relevant past ships
Canon: MCU, comics (Iron Man, Iron Heart. Etc.), AVAC, etc.
Tags: any relevant tags/warnings for your story. Please use this section thoroughly - if you aren’t sure if something requires a warning or not, it’s probably better if you add it.
Short summary: give a basic feel for what your story is about so artists can claim your work if it catches their interest.
Posting:
Each team will sign up for an assigned date to post to the platform of their choice (Tumblr, AO3, etc). They must also make a master post of their collaboration to Tumblr that includes a summary and link to the posted work which will be reblogged to give maximum exposure as well as any works posted to AO3 being included in a collection there.
Can I sign up as both an artist and author?
Yes, if you feel you can do both you may sign up as both an artist and an author but it is preferred that you not do art for your own fic.
Are OT+, pre-slash, slash fics okay?
Yes, just tag them appropriately.
Are crossovers/fusions/AUs accepted?
Yes, but be warned finding an artist might be more difficult depending on what it is.
Can I submit a fic or art that is a current work in progress?
Of course, as long as it is unpublished and unshared.
Can I post the same fic for another event?
Cross-post with other bangs and date-sensitive events are not allowed, but cross-post with bingos is allowed as long as all participants are okay with it and the other events’ rules allow it as well. In that case the fic’s minimum wordcount is the combined total of all events’ minimum wordcount requirement.

writing update, Steve/Tony edition
this is for myself and self-accountability though obviously anyone who is interested is welcome to read and ask me questions!
I have... so many WIPs. even only counting pieces I have actively worked on in the last month, there are... a lot.
I’m pretty much just writing whichever story I feel like working on at the time, though I’m also aiming to finish 5 pieces to get a bingo on my round 2 Cap/IM bingo card. This round ends January 31 so that’s an average of 1-2 stories published a month if all goes well.
Steve/Tony fic in progress:
multi-chapter fluff, humor, dating, smut, sex toy, and armor porn sequel to “Personal “Use.” so far it is featuring way more of Morgan Stark than I thought I would ever write (this is not actually a lot, I just didn’t think I would write her ever in my entire life).
AvAc Scott Pilgrim fusion (in the spirit of “Steve Rogers vs. the 7 Evil Exes” but with a slightly different set of exes, some help from the League of Good Exes, some help and hindrance from the League of Ambiguously Chaotic Exes (AKA Loki), and a poorly timed kidnapping thanks to Doctor Doom
MCU smut, angst, and BDSM etiquette ranging from “...I guess that’s okay?” to “OMG WTF PLEASE TALK TO EACH OTHER.” starts soon after Avengers 1 and mostly parallels canon up until IW, where it ends and implies it will diverge further. I actually started this before IW even came out and would really like to get it done!
MCU post-Endgame-everyone-lived story where Tony befriends and starts falling for an anonymous contemporary artist via late-night conversations over Twitter DMs
a AvAc hurt/comfort arc reactor story
non-powered AU featuring a heatwave and new roommates
a sort of reverse of “Every True Thing” where MCU Steve and Tony have a spell cast on them that forces them to only speak to each other in lies. goes on embarrassingly long before anyone notices something is up. MCU, Natasha POV. this is technically complete except I can’t decide whether or not I hate it.
Steven Universe x phase 1 MCU crossover I started a million years ago
AvAc Steve struggles to pick a birthday present for Tony, then picks one. how is this a story, you ask? yeah... I’m... working on that.
Steve/Tony 616 stories I’ve written outlines and snippets of but need to to read and research a LOT of comics before I can do much more, yet I keep going back and writing more snippets that may not even be in line with canon:
what will someday be a long-ish volume 3 story
a volume 4 story set right after they defeat the Hood where perhaps Tony’s use of the Gauntlet didn’t go exactly as everyone thought (this one I almost know enough to finish)
a short and trope-filled Civil War fix-it that I also feel close to knowing roughly enough to pull off
a Steve 1st person story where I’m trying to be poetic and stuff, which will not be particularly long but will also span pretty much the entire fucking 616 timeline
a story that is difficult to describe without major spoilers, but features, among other things, a sort of present-day + retrofuture take on volume 1
a 616 x Marvel Noir crossover
some accidental time travel, this one is set in early canon so I could make this work
annnnd a shit ton of noncon Hydra Cap/Tony and Superior Iron Man/Steve, including one set in an ambiguous time right before volume 4 where 616 Steve and Tony end up in a very different universe
The reading and research is happening, but very slowly. This is in part because I keep changing my mind about which stories and bits of 616 to prioritize. Also I just bought a bunch of Squirrel Girl comics and reading those instead.
Steve/Tony fic I want to write but haven’t really started yet:
a Star Wars x MCU crossover. YES I SAID CROSSOVER NOT FUSION
a Great British Bake Off fusion
AvAc story where Steve and Tony get trapped in the Timeless Archives and discover that... the Academy’s library is bigger than they thought. Crossover with Discworld, Doctor Who (approximately Donna Noble era), and others
I am honestly considering writing something for Marvel Puzzle Quest. it wouldn’t really be a story so much as character summaries and descriptions of powers for 3490 Iron Woman, AI Tony, Hydra Cap, Superior Iron Man, Nomad Steve, a combo Steve & Tony character (like Cloak & Dagger, Rocket & Groot) etc. I have no idea if anyone has any interest whatsoever in reading this, as I don’t know many Stevetonies who play MPQ, and the people I talk about MPQ with online complain a lot about multiple versions of existing characters. (I for one love every single incarnation of Steve and Tony. I adore and covet the new Worthy Cap and had a lot of feelings about his event being called “Worth It.” I mean?!?!)
(Can you tell I love crossovers?)
Steve/Tony fanart in progress:
616 post-CW sad Tony set to Mitski’s “Fireworks”
3490 angsty Natasha set to Mitski’s “Your Best American Girl”
MCU angsty Tony set to Mitski’s “Goodbye My Danish Sweetheart”
the 1872 art I posted an in-progress screenshot of a million years ago
companion illustrations and slice of life snippets to accompany “I Am With You”
this is at the bottom of my priority list, but I am in the sketching and layout stages of a sequel to “Monochrome” (shocking everyone, it is not set to a Mitski song)
(Can you tell I love Mitski?)
if you have read or skimmed this and anything jumped out to you as something you’re really excited about, any excitement and encouragement is welcome!

Okay, I'm curious. What fic author did you block and why?
Im not sure who the fic author is anymore (I block a lot of people on AO3 usually for OC/canon, reader inserts, ships I dont like, crossovers with like HP or 1D or weird shit like that, authors who only write comic/cartoon/AvAc stuff etc) but I was excited to read a Rhodey/Tony fic but the authors note said something about hating MCU Tony so theres was no point in me NOT blocking them. Since I only read MCU..(It was in the movies tag so IDK what their deal was.)

Purple Fog 2/?
Part two of my MCU/AVAC crossover - you can find part one here.
Mind the cut!
It was like moving through marshmallows on a glass floor. Tony kept a monitor on the air quality as he pushed through the center of the channel where the fog was the thinnest, and regretted not insisting that everyone wore oxygen masks. The air was thick with water and light on oxygen, but Tony had picked the shortest path based on all the drones that had gone through. He could hear Peter’s heavy breathing close to his helmet – struggling, but not panicked. It was difficult to maintain a steady pace when he wanted to rush them through the fog as quickly as he could run, but it would be more dangerous to move too quickly to adjust for the slight movements of the tunnel.
Tony broke through the fog so abruptly that he stumbled. The ground under his feet turned from smooth as glass to the dirt floor of the strange forest they’d seen through the drone transmissions. Natasha bumped into his side with a soft oath and immediately doubled over coughing. Without being told, Peter sprang off Tony’s back and tugged on the webbing between Natasha and Hope, pulling her through the last few feet. With a twist of his fingers, Peter started snapping webbing.
Grabbing Natasha under her arms, Tony pulled her away from the fog and leaned her against a tree trunk. As soon as he was sure she would stay upright, he helped Hope over to the same place, and then hurried over to help Peter pull the rest of their people through the fog. Scott came through with Sam half leaning over his shoulders, and Steve stumbling blindly afterward. All three of them went down when Scott stumbled, landing in a pile of flailing limbs and coughs. Steve landed half in the fog and rolled away from the portal. Tony got his hands around Steve’s knees and twisted him out of the fog before they got a chance to figure out where matter went once it passed into the bank.
Tony flipped up his faceplate. “Everyone alright?”
The coughing had mostly subsided, and they were already starting to get back to their feet. Tony got a shoulder under Sam’s arm to help get upright, and tapped him on chest once he was sure Sam was steady on his feet.
“Man, I’d love to not have to do that again,” Sam said, bumping a fist on his chest. He pulled his goggles off so he could rub at his eyes.
Next to him, Scott opened his helmet and looked around at the others. “Well, that was fun,” he said with a broad smile. Hope threw a rock that hit him between the shoulder blades. He ducked too late, covering the back of his head and looking at her under his arm. “What was that for?”
Climbing back to her feet, Hope tossed another piece of gravel at him and stretched backwards with one hand pressed to her stomach. She turned a slow circle, and said, “Freaky.”
Assured that everyone was going to survive the trek through the fog, Tony followed her gaze to the trees around them. They were spindly things with smooth dark bark, and bright puffs of yellow foliage on the end of the branches. Tony snapped the faceplate closed and examined them again. He didn’t have a connection to Friday anymore, but he’d loaded Tadashi into the suit before leaving.
“Heya, Tony,” Tadashi greeted, coming online. “Where the heck are we?”
“No idea, buddy. You tell me.”
There was a moment of silence and then Tadashi said, “GPS is nonfunctional. I think you made a mistake installing me, big guy. These trees are weirdly similar.” Several of the nearby trees were outlined in blue, and then rotated and stacked on top of each other. They matched almost branch-for-branch. “Strange pruning. Are we sure these are real trees and not just set pieces?”
Tony stepped up to one of the alien things and flicked his wrist to peel the gauntlet back. He put his bare hand on the trunk. It felt real, solid and slightly cool to the touch. He used one repulsor to gently slough away the bark and drill into the body of the tree. Nearly opaque greenish-yellow sap leaked out.
“Looks real,” he decided, and brushed his fingers over the tree in a silent apology. The wind rattled through the branches as though it were protesting the damage. Tony stepped away quickly just in case it actually was trying to decide on whether or not to go Whomping Willow on him. “Everyone keep an eye out for local wildlife,” he said, scanning through the trees himself.
CUT
Natasha, Sam, Rhodey, and Steve had already spread out to form a perimeter. True to his word, Peter crouch less than a foot from Steve’s side, looking curiously up at the trees. Tony made a private bet with himself that Peter’s promise to stick to Steve’s side like glue would be forgotten as soon as he found something interesting in the trees to chase after. He should have been call Catman with how attracted he was to moving objects.
Steve cast a glance at the sky. “It’s still daylight,” he said quietly. He turned his wrist to check his watch and asked, “Has it ever been dark when the probe came through?”
“No,” Tony answered after a moment’s thought. “Some kind of universe of perpetual daylight?” he wondered aloud. In the shade cast by the trees, it was mix of twilight on the ground with bolts of clear sunlight spearing through the leaves and lighting on the equally strange undergrowth. Tony popped the faceplate open one more and shaded his eyes with his bare hand. He flicked the gauntlet closed once more. “That’s going to get old in a hurry.”
“We can’t just stay here and sunbathe,” Rhodey pointed out. He gestured through the trees. “Split into twos to scout?”
Before anyone could respond, there was a flash of red, and Peter was up in the trees. Tony snorted and checked the clock in the bottom corner of his HUD. Less than five minutes – he’d overestimated Peter’s attention span.
Steve looked up into the tree and pointed sharply at the ground. “Get down here!” he hissed.
“I’m just looking,” Peter called back down. He scrambled up among the branches and disappeared between the leaves. Yellow dust rained down after him, forcing Steve to cover his eyes with a forearm and step back.
Tony stepped up to Steve’s side. “Let him look. Better him fighting with the alien tree than one of us old geezers.”
Steve’s lips twitched upwards. “Speak for yourself, old man.”
“Do you need me to say it a little louder, gramps?”
Steve laughed faintly. His hand dropped to his hip and he shook his head faintly, but he didn’t say anything else as they waited for Peter to climb back down. After a minute, Peter dropped upside-down, clinging to his web with his knees tucked up nearly to his shoulders and his wrists below the line of his ankles.
Concealed behind his faceplate, Tony’s right eye twitched in mild jealousy over Peter’s ludicrous flexibility. He didn’t think he’d been that flexible even at sixteen. He laughed quietly to himself, a twitch of his fingers keeping the external speakers off. He’d finally arrived at the day of openly envying the young, though hopefully he could keep himself from becoming the old man that hated them for it.
“There’s buildings over that way,” Peter said, twisting around like a worm on a hook to get his bearings and flinging an arm out behind him.
“Get down from there,” Steve said, flicking his fingers toward the soil again.
Peter obligingly let go of the web and flipped nimbly back to his feet, scattering yellow dust and crunching into the carpet of dead leaves on the ground. He stayed there, crouched with his heels together and his fingertips resting lightly between his toes. Rhodey joined them, pushing the faceplate up so his helmet retracted. He was in the heaviest of the War Machine armors, and had a good five inches on Tony, even in the Iron Man armor. He was a walking tank with enough of an arsenal to lay siege to a small nation. Tony had made it more streamlined, more maneuverable, and painted the armor bright silver with black embellishments and the tiniest hits of blue to distance it from the War Monger armor, but there were still moments when Tony caught it out of the corner of his eye and felt a tingle of fear flash through him before he saw Rhodey’s face and it was all made better.
“What’s the plan?” Rhodey asked. His arms hung down at his sides, and Tony started running scans on the armor, wondering if Rhodey would tell him if it were too heavy for comfort. He’d tested it himself, tuned the servos so the suit supported itself and responded to every twitch of muscle like an extension of the body. Tony knew from experience that even the small muscle twitches added up, especially in the shoulders and chest – there was only so much even Tony could do to combat gravity.
“I think you had it right,” Steve answered after a brief pause of staring off in the direction Peter had indicated. “Split into groups, stay on comms, and approach from different sides, see what we can see. Take Natasha and circle around east…” he looked down at his compass, and huffed out an annoyed voice when he realized it was spinning uselessly. “Go left anyway, five hundred yards. You’re not exactly quiet in the suit, so mind your steps. I’ll take Spiderman and Sam to the right. Iron Man, go straight through with Scott and Hope. I’m sure I don’t have to tell anyone to stay away from the fog, but stay away from the fog. If your path is blocked or the ground starts looking even a little bit misty, turn around and come back. We’ll set this as rendezvous if anyone gets in trouble, we’ll meet back here. Sound good?”
He looked at Rhodey first, waited for a nod, and then turned his attention to Tony. His forehead was concealed under his cowl, but Tony could tell by the pull on his cheekbone that Steve had an eyebrow hiked up.
Tony nodded as well, but gestured at Peter. “Might want to keep Wonder-Under here in the trees.”
Steve nodded after a brief hesitation where Tony thought he was hearing the message, ‘it’s probably safer up there,’ and then looked down at Peter and warned, “Stay out of sight.”
Peter tossed him a jaunty salute, and was gone in an instant, vanishing back into the foliage in a cloud of yellow dust.
~*~
Part way through the forest, it transitioned from repeating alien trees into leafy deciduous trees that wouldn’t have looked out of place in Central Park, but they were just as alien, just as unsettling because they were all identical. Tadashi alerted him to a flash of movement in the underbrush, and Tony immediately dropped to one knee and held out a repulsor. Hope and Scott were mounted on their flying ants and clinging to his armor. Even Tony’s sensors were not sensitive enough to pick them out where they sat on his shoulder, so he just hoped they were holding on tight.
“What was it?”
“Not sure,” Tadashi answered. “Something small. An animal, probably, unless there are toddlers running about out here.”
“Or giant alien spiders,” Tony pointed out. He locked the suit joints so no unintentional creak of armor gave him in case what he imagined to be a tarantula the size of a corgi hadn’t spotted him yet.
“Yikes,” Tadashi said. “Jump right to the worst case scenario, why don’tcha.”
“Thank you, I will.” Tony moved the camera view with a twitch of his eyes, scanning behind him as well. Nothing moved by the air through squat, unnaturally well-groomed brushes and curling ferns.
“Taking a nap, Iron Man?” Scott asked after several minutes of silence.
Tony didn’t respond immediately, though he was starting to feel foolish kneeling on the ground and jumping at ghosts. Before he could decide whether to shift or not, the bush shuddered and a small black shape shot out from beneath the leaves, hissing and flapping stunted wings as it waddled through the carpet of dead vegetation.
“Tadashi?” Tony asked calmly, “Was that a penguin wearing a machine gun belt?”
“Um… Well, it would seem that way.”
Blinking after the retreating penguin, Tony nodded once. He pursed his lips. He nodded again. “Alright. We’ve seen stranger things.”
“Sure,” Tadashi agreed readily. “Which ones, exactly, were stranger than a penguin wearing a machine gun belt? I’m pretty sure it had an eye patch, too.”
“Well, the eye patch pushes it over the edge of strange,” Tony said, surprised at how reasonable he sounded, even to himself. “Alright. Keep an eye out for any more… warrior penguins. Heaven forbid the machine gun comes trolling out of the trees.”
Tadashi snickered. “Maybe earth is about to be invaded by a penguin army.”
“After the day we’re having,” Tony said, “I would not be surprised.”
“Come on. You’d be a little bit surprised,” Tadashi argued as Tony unlocked the joints and rose to his feet.
He caught a flash of one of the ants lifting off and then resettling themselves on his shoulder, and set out again, keeping a careful eye on the underbrush for other unexpected surprises. He’d seen enough strange in the last several years that he didn’t have a mantra of ‘you’re going crazy, this is crazy, you’re dreaming, and crazy. Or maybe dead,’ like he might have before Afghanistan – hell, before New York, even. He just forged through the forest of what looked like Lazy Programmer Only Designs Two Trees and Three Bushes in an otherwise perfectly rendered environment, and watched his feet in case there were militant squirrels running around. Just another Tuesday.
The trees thinned and Tony caught a glimpse of the backside of building just before Tadashi warned him to get down. He crouched down behind a tree as a young woman walked down the path staring at her phone and occasionally stopping to take selfies with statues and bushes. She was two hundred yards away, but Tadashi helpfully zoomed in so he could see her better. She was wearing bright yellow short shorts and a matching jacket with a black shirt underneath. Her fingerless gloves matches her green belt, and her hat and laced booties matched her jacket.
“Definitely less threatening than a machine-gun totting penguin,” Tony decided.
“Want Scott and me to go in and take a closer look?” Hope asked as the young woman passed around the building and out of sight.
Tony settled himself closer to the ground and did another sweep of what they could see from the tree line. From his limited vantage point, it looked like a college campus. The back of a towering statue of a man in a business suit was just visible if he leaned around the tree, and beyond that was a building with wide steps and Greek columns in the front.
“Take a look,” Tony decided, “But be careful. If whoever runs this place actually is controlling that fog, we have no idea what kind of technology or technology dampening abilities they might have on hand.”
“We’ll be careful,” she promised, but they were both already in the air and buzzing steadily toward the campus.
Tadashi tracked them until they turned the corner, and then continued to compile whatever data he could manage from their position, giving him a running list of distance between buildings, the height of the statue, a zoom of the columned building that confirmed it be an admin office, and the species of plants in the area that he could identify. Rhododendrons, yellow and red poppies, and green chrysanthemums were arranged in neat beds between identical walk ways, the grass was a uniform length without a single stalk out of place, and the buildings all looked as if they’d just been completed the day before, shiny and new.
“Iron Man checking in,” he said, activating the comm to his teammates. “I’ve made it to the edge of the forest. It looks like some kind of college campus.”
“We’re here too,” Steve reported a few breaths later. “I agree. I can see what looks like a library, and maybe some kind of lab. There’s a weird tower on top that’s sparking electricity. Rhodes, how about you?”
“Not quite there yet,” Rhodey said. Tony could hear the crunch and thump of his footfalls on the forest floor.
“Hey, did anyone else see an armed penguin on the way in?”
There was a brief moment of silence in response, and then Peter asked, “Like…a penguin with human arms?”
Tony twitched. “Did you see a penguin with human arms? Was it carrying a machine gun?” Considering the weirdness of the forest and campus, he wouldn’t have thought that anything could make him blink, but his attempts to picture a penguin with arms was sending shudders of wrong flying down his spine.
“Have you walked through any suspicious clouds of gas while we’ve been here, Tones? Stop to eat any local berries?”
“That was one time, Rhodey, and they were not even poisonous anyways.”
“I saw the penguin too,” Scott added helpfully. “It didn’t have human arms – which, by the way, is an image that will give me nightmares for the next year, thanks, kid – but it did have a machine gun belt and eye patch. Which is slightly less nightmarish than a human-armed penguin, but only very slightly.”
The resulting silence was clearly suspicious until Hope put in, “It’s true. Unfortunately.”
“Are we being invaded by a penguin army?” Peter asked immediately, and for some reason sounded excited by the prospect. “Was it at least cute?”
“It had a machine gun belt,” Tony stressed.
“Penguin with a machine gun belt could be cute. Hey, where was it? Maybe I can get a picture for my school newspaper, and my Twitter account. It would be like the mermaid thing all over again.”
“Alright, cut it out,” Steve broke in before the conversation could get any more surreal. “What do you see from up there?”
“Tony…?” Rhodey interrupted before Peter could answer. “Switch your screen to patch into my display.”
Tadashi obligingly interfaced with Bolo and patched Tony into Rhodey’s display. Rhodey was hunkered down behind a large hedge of bushes – not kneeling, because the tank didn’t kneel. At first, Tony’s attention was drawn to the massive golden dome to Rhodey’s left, but after a moment of gaping at the gaudy thing, he realized what Rhodey must have wanted him to see. A tower dominated the skyline in the distance with a clearly visible STARK logo curling around a familiarly-shaped balcony platform. Bolo zoomed in on the air above it, turning a tiny speck against the clouds into the clearly recognizable form of the Iron Man armor.

Dear Yuletide writer,
as far as I can tell from the sign-up summary, you matched with me because of either Silent Hill 3 or Avengers Academy, because I was the only one who requested or offered the other two super-tiny fandoms I nominated. if you feel like doing one of those after all, though, go for it!
I feel like...most of the fandoms I requested aren’t too likely to lead to fics with my major DNWs, probably. I wouldn’t want to see dubcon or significant manipulation in a relationship that’s supposed to be positive and healthy, for instance. I’m not opposed to explicit sex scenes of any kind, although I often end up skimming them because I’m the type of ace person who is just Not Interested in most of the physical aspects, so...you’re welcome to write sex scenes but you absolutely don’t have to feel like you need to.
in general, my biggest DNW is unhappy endings. I’m thrilled to see my favorite characters go through all kinds of hell to get there, but I like things to be okay or at least hopeful by the end. if canon is the unhappy part in one way or another, I’m always happy to read fix-it fics.
I also like Loki a lot, as you can probably guess from my requests. if you ended up matching me on Avengers Academy Loki and/or you want to take a stab at one of the other two Loki-centric requests, the Loki fics I’ve actually written are pretty representative of stuff I like in my Loki fics, which basically boils down to “sympathetic interpretations always, with loads of angst and/or whump on the way to a reasonably happy ending”. I tend to take a somewhat lighter tone in general with my Avengers Academy fics (I’ve written 10 of those and only one of them doesn’t involve Loki, so...yeah I have a one-track mind where Loki is concerned), although I did also write a pretty damn whumpy fic for AvAc Loki. I’m very invested in the relationship between Thor and Loki as brothers, although Thorki is usually a personal squick just because of the pseudo-incest. for things that aren’t necessarily Loki-related, I like found families and deep friendships, sibling bonds, stories about characters reclaiming their own agency from some outside force and/or figuring out how to take control of their own narratives, and probably plenty of other things that aren’t coming to mind at the moment.
I love this game and that's mostly because of Heather--she's resourceful, brave, and incredibly tough, and the game is essentially all about her reclaiming her agency (in a very literal, physical way) from people who used her for their own ends. Anything that gets into Heather's head would be great, whether it's a missing scene of some kind during the game or something afterward that explores what she does next and how she recovers from a frankly massive amount of trauma. I would also really love to see something involving Angela and/or Maria from Silent Hill 2; I'm not sure how the timelines would line up, but the way Heather basically said "fuck you, you don’t own me" to the cult makes me want to see other female characters find their own agency as well, and it would be really awesome if Heather found a way to help them do that, either by helping them directly or just by influencing the way the town operates. in general, I love these games for their atmosphere and symbolism, so anything you can do along those lines would be great.
Avengers Academy (Loki). I still miss this game. I especially miss Loki, who was a snarky little bastard but really not a bad dude. Mostly I'd be thrilled to see anything that focuses on him (or her, I super loved Loki’s canonical genderfluidity) developing actual friendships at the academy, with any characters who might be relevant (Steve, Natasha, America Chavez, Nebula, Union Jack, Angela, Jane Thor, really anybody). Working things out with Thor and/or the rest of his family is always good too; Loki's Frost Giant storyline didn't involve Thor at all, for instance, probably because it was written well before Thor was added to the game, so I'd be interested to see how things went when he found out his brother was a Frost Giant. I’m also always happy to see crossovers of some kind with other Marvel universes, especially considering AvAc was an interesting patchwork of film and comics canon; meta stuff where characters are aware of their multiverse counterparts is always fun (again, my own AvAc fics are pretty representative of what I like...and if you wanted to build off anything in those, I’d be thrilled). and hey, if you want to pick up or expand on any of the plot threads the game never really got around to, like more about the Academy’s supposed mole, the actual nature and origin of the timefog, or other worldbuilding-related stuff, that would be awesome. I’d also be happy to see something post-canon, showing what characters are up to now or doing some kind of reunion.
Loki: Where Mischief Lies - Mackenzi Lee. I had a lot of issues with this book and I'm not sure how much of that is just me not appreciating what the author was doing with an unreliable narrator (in part because I'm already pretty attached to certain interpretations of Loki) and how much is the author not quite doing it right, but I'd love to see something that would...make it make sense internally in terms of Loki's motivations and actions. It doesn't necessarily have to be a fix-it, although I'd love one of those too, with Loki reuniting with Theo and/or actually reconciling with his family. A giant crossover that includes this Loki with other major versions of Loki could be fun too. I’m planning to write up some kind of actual review to articulate what about this book didn’t work for me, and I’ll update this post with a link when I do that, although...again, I know nobody else offered or requested this one. (if you think it sounds fun or you just want to read this book in general, my library actually has the ebook on Hoopla, so it’s worth checking to see if your library does too.)
Marvel Contest of Champions game (Loki, Thor). The way this game handles Loki continues to piss me off--sometimes it's kind of fun and it strikes a similar balance to recent comics as far as his loyalties and motives are concerned, but most of the time it's like "here's our Loki, his design is based on current comics Loki who's mostly an antihero or even sometimes a hero now, and here's an event storyline explicitly based on the MCU where Loki literally had a redemption arc and a heroic death, but our Loki is still a villain because of reasons". I want the game to fix that, but if they won't, I'd settle for fic. like with Loki: Where Mischief Lies I know nobody matched with me on this one, and this one is probably less accessible--I mean, the game is totally free, but I think all the Loki content so far has been in event storylines, which means you can’t really pick up any of that now (unless somebody on Youtube has been very thorough, I guess; I’ve done some grumbling in my CoC tag but it’s not really helpful as a background). so unless you just happen to have been playing this game regularly for the last few years, it probably won’t work to pick up this one.

ONE SHOTS. Multiverse Stony
read it on the AO3 at http://ift.tt/2DFHNAH
by WooHo_Shin

Dark fics are okay as well: dubcon, maybe noncon (negotiable), eating disorders, mental illnesses, alcoholism etc. I love dark characters. I really love codependency, extreme jealousy, Will-go-apeshit-if-anyone-looks-at-you, Cheating-on-my-partner-with-you, and so on. PWP and kinks are fine too: I’m okay with basically anything except for those in the DNWs. (Some of my favs are Humiliation, Control play, D/S, Bad BDSM etiquette etc.)

Work Description: I’m offering a fic with a wordcount of 3k – 5k. I prefer detailed prompts rather than one-word prompts or concept prompts, and I’d like to be involved with the prompter, especially if you have something particular and/or very specific. I only have an approximate knowledge of Marvel Ults, so if you want an Ults fic that isn’t PWP, I’m not your girl. If you want something specific for 616, canon wise, please ask before bidding. I'm comfortable writing early canon and identity porn, while for other events or eras I'd have to do some research beforehand. :) I am a slow writer, but I will finish your fic before the MTH deadline. If you have any question, please feel free to contact me.
