I've never done OCxKiss but I had so much fun seeing people do it last year!! Here is another example of how even the younger queer byler community is homophobic without realizing it - All the queerbaiting hysteria. Younger people don't know what queerbaiting is. They have never been queerbaited. Teens/20 somethings today have grown up with queer content being normalized. It may not have been tons of content but it was there. Queer media started being more normalized in the early 2000s. Shows like Will and Grace were popular, same with Brokeback Mountain. And the Duffers fav Dawsons Creek was the first teen show with a gay teen in it. A lot of people watched these shows. They may not always have accepted the gay story line or liked it, but it was something they watched and it normalized that content. And I don't know any mom during this time who didn't watch Ellen Degeneres's talk show. They knew she was gay and it was on in a lot of people's living rooms. The younger queer kids in this fandom had content. Queerbaiting is largely a marketing tactic that stopped around 2010/2015 because it kept getting called out and it stopped working to attract an audience. One of the most common tactics of queerbaiting used to be showing a preview with a same sex couple that looked like they were about to kiss. It would amp people up and get them excited and then the episode would air and the scene would play out totally differently and platonically. This show has never marketed byler. They have never teased this and then took it away. They actually seem like they are very conscious of not doing this. But the teens in this fandom water down queerbaiting and make it sound very trivial. They say every damn thing about the show is queerbaiting. They get upset over a vague mileven post - queerbait. They didn't get the byler content they wanted - queerbait. And I'm sorry but they also sound like they very badly want to be queerbaited so they can have something justified to be upset about. It's like they think it makes them sound experienced to talk about these things but they don't fully understand what they are talking about. And that ends up erasing peoples legitimate pain from being queerbaited in the past. I'm sending this in 2 posts because it was too long....

My recent plot-before-sleep thoughts have been about Kara confessing her feelings for Lena the day of Lena's wedding to James. Not in a "leave him" kind of way, but a "I'll never forgive myself if I don't tell you before you marry him" way.

While there might be some jealousy on Kara's part when Lena and James get together, it's mostly sadness and resignation. And of course we have Lena's reaction and the aftermath.

I've been thinking about it enough to want to actually write a small fic about it.

in 2001, they made a Telugu film called Daddy (innocent!!) and it's about this guy who has a bleeding heart and who gets cheated by his friends a bunch which like indirectly leads to his beautiful baby daughter dying of some heart condition that requires like an operation or sth bc he's broke and can't afford it bc people cheated him out of all his money. his wife like divorces him over this and is like fuck you and fuck you again you KILLED my baby. and she fucks off wherever. howEVER! PLOT TWIST! she's pregnant!!!!

anyway, eight ish years later right? and this woman has birthed and raised a child who is basically a biological twin to her dead child??? somehow??? and this guy just SEES her out on the road or something and he's like well fuck ME i am hallucinating my dead child after eight years and on the road?? but because crazy men are normal in the telugu film industry, he just walks up to her and is like heeeeyy girl who are you what's your name and like fully befriends her. He finds out she's his own kid and everything, and then tries to secretly build a relationship with her because again being crazy is good and normal in the 00s movies, but then the mom finds out and goes crazy and is like WHY?? SO YOU CAN KILL HER TOO? (ICONIC scene btw incredible moment NO NOTES she's SO MEAN!!!) and takes her away even tho she considers getting back w him at first bc he's still hanging around those asshole friends lol and like??? she's supposed to be bad?? BOO!

and then!!! bc it is an indian movie there is some crazy shit happens like the girl's got a recital or sth and her school almost burns down and he saves his kid (one would hope this is what EVERYONE WOULD DO?) and the mom cries and falls on his feet (women must you know this) and then they get back together and they pay respects to their dead kid together but also it's fucking insane.

anyway it's a reaaaaalllly sad movie with one super iconic emotional song in it and i was thinking about the song today bc appa and i used to love singing it bc we fancied we were like the dad and the girl back in the day when i was younger, and then, like lightning, i was struck by the thought that destiel could do this and i blacked out.
