is it bad I kinda like Jack and Ellie? Ellie has to have some kind of care for reader to not want her to be at college all summer so she had her move in to her family’s home. And when she found reader crying about Luke at her birthday party she really didn’t want to leave her/wanted her to make up with Luke. Ellie gives the vibe of a girl who everyone thinks is perfect and to some degree she is but she’s different when she’s with Jack like how reader is with Luke. I don’t care for a lot of my friends partners bc a lot of times my friends only tell me about that bad things that they have done which is what I think happened with reader and Jack. Neither Jack or Ellie are bad people they are just young adults playing games with each other and obviously reader is a hopeless romantic and doesn’t like the thought of her best friend being pushed around in that situation. Yes Ellie and Jack both did some questionable things but doesn’t everyone? I mean neither of their brains are fully developed. Ellie also gives off the energy that she was actually adopted by her dad bc her bio dad was a horrible person (which would make sense if she has younger siblings) I just feel like there’s a lot more to Ellie than what we realize. PLEASE DONT LET HER AND JACK BREAKUP I NEED THEM TO ALL SPEND CHRISTMAS TOGETHER WITH THEIR CHILDREN AND ELLIE AND READER GET TO GO ON VACATIONS TOGETHER WHILE JACK AND LUKE PLAY WITH THEIR KIDS!!! I LOVE THIS DISCOURSE LMAO idk why this was the last thing I was expecting when I posted this part but characterisation is like obviously one of my fave parts about fic writing (if it wasn’t my fics would be like half the length they are lol) and it actually means the world to me that you even think this much about it like you have your own little backstory and motivations for people beyond what I write which is so fucking cool and to be honest however you interpret everything in between is right anyway so yeah I love this concept actually!!!

I definitely think there’s love there!!! I think the conclusion of this whole business in part three will show that her heart is technically in the right place, but it’s like you said, they’re kind of just idiotic!!

it ties back to LIH, when jack was dating other people and his motivations for it were never actually cleared up - he could just be an idiot!! and that could just be the reason plain and simple!! or because this story isn’t technically about them, there’s so much more to them that we’ll never see or learn about because those conversations just aren’t had!!!

I think both of them care about luke and reader in their own respective ways, and both of them are a little caught up in their own narrative to realise they just need to leave it alone, and I think yeah you’re right they’re not bad people they’re just ignorant to the bigger picture probably
