Saying Tora is a kind, sweet and genuine person doesn’t mean she is a child. She showed multiple times in the JLI that she is a person who knows what she wants and how she wants it. Like, her relationship with Guy Gardner. She never did anything she didn’t want to do. But she had also dreams of her own that included a quiet life, a family. I don’t think that wanting that equals being a child. I don’t think that not turning against her friends and basically helping someone almost framing them means “being stupid”. Like being a good person or believing in the good in other people. But it just feels random (at least to me) for someone who clearly wanted meaningful relationships and was a reserved person to have such an intense relationship with a character she has never had any prior connections too. I understand this is a black label comic but I don’t see the point in using the JLI if they are barely recognizable as the JLI, honestly. I hope you don’t find this ask aggressive or in any way offensive to you. If you do, I am sorry, it wasn’t my intention at all. So I just hope you are okay with that! If you don’t feel like answering this, no prob :)

hey! look, i'm not the ultimate authority on whatever and i'm not stalking your blog or anything like that, i go to the human target or tom king tags and sort by recent which unfortunately catches everything with the key words in the tags. that's that. but since we're having this conversation, the post i saw literally said:

"Tora is a sweet character who would never ever turn against her friends or set them up like she is doing. If it turns out she is misleading The Human Target, it still doesn’t add up to me. She has never been an action character. She can have matured sure but I think here naivety, kindness and believing in everyone’s good would still stand. Putting her in those sexual situations is simply disgusting."

and the use of naivety does sound like thinking she's immature. that she couldn't pull all this off. and 'disgusting' is outright baffling to me personally. what exactly is disgusting about an adult woman having sex?

i don't find her relationship with christopher chance particularly intense, it's a fling or casual flirtation/sex, but i do find it fascinating for tora to have been put in the role of the femme fatale specifically because she "knows what she wants and how she wants it" but she's never been perceived as the absolute force of nature she really is (which, like stated in my prev post, is exactly what christopher observes in the latest issue)

the fact of the matter is that the jli gang is specifically being suspected of the lex murder attempt because of what was done to tora. if she's really behind this, then her role becomes significantly more compelling -- she's taking control of the narrative as a whole, not just her sexuality, she's got real agency for the first time since her death (in terms of said death being a traumatic event and her potential revenge being well-deserved). if that's the case, maybe she's spending these last days with christopher because she feels guilty since he wasn't the target at all. maybe she's genuinely attracted to him.

whatever the case i don't find the jli as presented here unrecognisable at all & i'm entitled to my own opinions as you are to yours, as you are to vagueing about me if you so desire. that being said, i couldn't help but comment on everything you mentioned about ted being written as an 'alcoholic' or the whole deal with tora being 'sexualised' because they're both just blatantly untrue (x) and stand apart from run-of-the-mill ooc standards each of us have. none of this reflects on you as a person in any way, i have no issue with you whatsoever and i don't intend for any of this to hurt you etc.

I’m so sorry you are feeling down about comics. Honestly, DC doesn’t give two cents about certain characters and even the ones they actually care are written weirdly. I’ve been through this kind of disappointment with Marvel, especially about the X-Men. My advice is to give a try to new characters that maybe you never had the chance to read much about but always wanted to. It worked for me, maybe it’ll work for you too <3
