As we had tickets to go and see a Pantomime a little way from home this year, we decided to make a proper Christmassy day of it and head to see Santa first.  We decided to visit the Baytree Garden Centre near to Spalding.  We had taken Little Mr A about 4 years ago and had a great time and we had been told this year was just as good.

After hearing some horror stories of over 2 hour waits, we decided to head off early and turned up not long after it had opened.  Even so, we still had around a 20 minute wait to see Santa!  There were lots of things to look at whilst queuing though and the Little A’s were very patient.

Before you see Santa you have a ride on a little train and see some more characters and displays.  It is a great way to keep the queues inside the attraction down and keep the attention of little ones!  It meant when we did finally get around to Santa’s Grotto we only had to wait a minute before being let in to see the big man himself.

Santa was lovely and both of the Little A’s believed it was the real Santa.  After a photo the Little A’s were given a really nice present each and a little Christmas tree for Daddy to plant.

After purchasing the photo and opening the presents (Little Mr A received a plaster of Paris kit and Little Miss A a doll), we headed back outside to see the animals.

Not only were there real reindeer you could fee carrots to, there were also llamas and even camels!

Before heading off to the pantomime we warmed up with a delicious hot chocolate and snacks.

It was definitely worth the early start and paying more for – it was a wonderful experience and the Little A’s truly believed they had met the real Santa which was just magical!

Postcards from the Backyard: Did y’all know bay leaves grow on trees? Did you know those trees bloom? Now ya do! This is one of the plants we brought with us when we bought our home 13 years ago. Our bay tree originally resided in a small pot on the balcony of our downtown apartment and it was one of several plants we brought with us along with a rosemary plant that still lives by the walkway next to our house. When we planted it, the bay was about two feet tall. Now, we can sit and see it from our third floor windows. And just look at the captivating little yellow blooms it produces! Amazing. The bees love the blooms as do the hummingbird family from the willows across the alley and, apparently, a migrating pair of goldfinches that came to visit and inspect the blooms this morning.
