Swipe, swipe, and another swipe of his thumb on his phone screen - specifically Sirius’ instagram page. You see, he swore he’s seen Sirius tag Regulus on this account before - a happy birthday post or something. He doesn’t recall seeing his face, trust him, he would’ve remembered a face like that. But he’s seen the name on here before.

God damn that man for posting so much, it’s mostly just pictures of Remus which is admittedly quite funny.

And there it is, December 23rd, 2023.

It was just the picture of the back of a boy, he looked young, probably taken years before the post was uploaded. His black curls were slightly longer than they are now, and he leant against the wall - a small bit of his pale nose peaking out from the side.

That’s cuter than James would like to admit.

But then he remembered the look on Regulus’ face when he left the library, like he wanted him gone, disgusted. So, with a sigh, he swiped away the app and threw his phone on the pillow.

Something funny i thought of

Taking place post of the (first) wizarding war, everyone survives but the bond that linked James and Lily during the war is starting to dissolve. So they decide to go to marriage counseling. Their counselor? Pandora Rosier.

Bad news for Lily because she starts looking forward to the counseling session, not because she wants to fix her marriage, but because she looks forward to seeing Pandora. Who she may or may not have a slight crush on. She feels terrible because James also seems to look forward to the sessions, and Lily thinks it's because he actually wants to fix their marriage.

But James on the other hand, nah, he instead, looks forward to seeing his best mate's younger brother, Regulus, who enters at the end of all their sessions to drop off lunch or a drink for Pandora. He feels guilty because Lily seems to be excited about the sessions while he fantasizes about Regulus.

Shit news for both of them? They (James and Lily) both think Pandora and Regulus are dating.

Saw an Anastasia Jegulus edit so had thoughts:

Jegulus Anastasia where 10 year old Regulus doesn’t remember who he is and is separated from Sirius for a decade after the rest of their family gets assassinated (while the boys are trying to flee with their Uncle Alphard to Paris). He grows up in an orphanage surrounded by other children and learns quickly to be independent. Somehow his fingers still remember how to stroke piano keys beautifully, so he sits on a creaky old bench each morning to bring music to the bleak grey of the drafty orphanage walls.

James and Remus are drifters/con men doing tricks to get money for their next meal. Growing up together in a small village, they’re as thick as thieves when they move to the big city to try to start their lives. They want to leave and start a new adventure, but can’t afford to and they hear a rumor that the youngest Black son is still alive somewhere (there’s a generous reward for any that bring hope/information) and plan a con to trick Sirius with their own “Regulus Black” lookalike. (Or maybe James and Sirius were best friends in the palace where James’ mother worked and James is genuinely wanting to see his childhood friend again).

James runs (literally runs) into Reggie as he’s being chased by police for stealing a loaf of bread (gotta do what you gotta do) and he knocks him over and instantly falls hard when he meets light blue eyes and a scowl that has him scrambling up, pulling Regulus with him. Regulus doesn’t trust James (even though he wants to bc he feels oddly safe with him).

Adventure ensues and in the end Reggie & Sirius are reunited in Paris (cries into my pillow) after a decade and it’s a beautiful reunion. Sirius recognizes the melody Regulus plays on the piano (it’s one that their Uncle taught them as little boys) and he instantly knows it’s his baby brother. Also obviously has Wolfstar heheh but I haven’t thought that far but maybe a bit of enemies to lovers Wolfstar bc Remus can’t stand Sirius the first time he meets him (thinks he’s a snob and this spoiled rich boy)…idk HMMM

I might write it one day.

The Bookstore

summary: poly!jegulily x reader, James spoils his lovers with their favorite things: books and butterbeer.

I felt his breath on my neck. So close yet not close enough, never close enough.

“Hello, my darling,” he whispered in my ear, my skin prickling as he placed his lips on my neck, kissing his way down my body.

He reached the apex between my bare thighs and smiled up at me before-

“Hello love!” James sang, walking into your bedroom, Regulus and Lily entering after him. You slammed your book shut, trying your best to compose yourself and not look too suspicious. 

“Hi,” you chirped, pulling the closed book closer to your chest to hide the cover just in case. Lily gave you a questioning look that turned into something like understanding.

“You look a little flushed, love. You feeling alright?,” Regulus asked, touching your cheek and forehead to feel your temperature before kissing the top of your head.

Lily smirked at you but said nothing, knowing exactly what you were reading only a moment ago. “Yeah, feel fine. Just a little warm is all.” you replied. 

Regulus smiled down at you from where he stood. “Well that’s perfect then, we’re going outside for a walk anyways. Cool air will be good for you.” You returned his smile, but he could read the confusion on your face. “James has a surprise for all of us.” He explained.

You turned your attention to where James stood, smiling giddily. He didn’t say anything, just wiggled his eyebrows and waited for you to get appropriately dressed. You were in comfy lounging clothes, as it was a Saturday afternoon, and if you were going out on a walk, you’d need to dress for the cool spring air. 

You set your book down where you were sitting, facedown of course, and headed toward your dresser. You pulled out some jeans and a long sleeve top, dressing quickly, wanting to see what James’s surprise was. You pulled open your sock drawer and picked a warm pair, pulling them onto your bare feet before padding back over to where your lovers were. 

James and Regulus picked up a conversation about how the Hufflepuff quidditch team was fairing this season. They were arguing about which team would beat them and which seeker or chaser was better than the badger’s. You tuned them out as you looked for your shoes. 

It was then that you noticed Lily with your book in her lap, looking over the cover and synopsis on the back. Your eyes widened and you stopped your search. You could see the smirk across Lily’s face. She looked you dead in the eye and winked. You shook your head at her as if to say ‘tell no one’. She just continued on smirking. 

She of course knew what you were reading, in fact, you had lent her one of your romantasy books a few weeks back and she flew through it. She came to your room the next morning to ask for another and to discuss the one she had read. You both giggled and gossiped about how good it was, the main character, the spice…

You shook your head, trying to dispel the memory and picked up a pair of shoes you could wear on a walk around Scotland, ones you were alright with getting muddy, should the paths be wet from all the spring rains. 

James handed you one of your favorite jackets and you all set off. You asked them about their mornings, how quidditch practice went for the boys, how Lily did on one of her papers, remedial and small things. The air was cool, but getting warmer every day. You walked hand in hand with Regulus, James and Lily doing the same behind you two.

“So James,” you called over your shoulder to him once you had rounded the Black Lake, “What exactly do you have planned?”

You couldn’t see the smile on his face, but you could hear it as he said, “Well, I just thought that you three deserved a little treat.”

“A little treat?” Lily echoed.

“Yeah, you three have been working hard all semester… I just wanted to spoil you a little.” James said.

“Mmh,” Regulus hummed from beside you, “Spoil us how?”

“By taking you to the bookstore of course.” James said. Making you stop dead in your tracks and whip around to where he was standing, making him almost topple over you in the process.

“The bookstore?” you asked.

He nodded. “Yeah, all three of you like reading, I don’t understand why,” he said, Lily lightly nudging him with an elbow to the ribs. Both of them giggled as he continued, “so it’s my treat.”

“You’ll buy me a book?” you asked, trying to get an understanding of what he was playing at.

“I’ll buy you whatever you want. If that means one book or twenty or a hardback collection. I just wanna make you all happy.” he smiled down at you, placing a quick peck to your lips. 

You blinked up at him. Did he realize how much twenty books would cost? How much a hardback collection would cost? The special edition series that you had your eye on?

James could see your hesitation, he spun you back around and slung his arm across your shoulders. “C’mon baby, you’ve had your nose in a book for months, I know you want a couple more.” he said with a tease lacing his tone. 

You rolled your eyes. “Don’t make me sound like such a swot,” you defended yourself. “It’s not like they’re textbooks.”

“Well what kind of books are they then?” Regulus asked. You almost stopped in your tracks again. “You never put them down, spending all your free time reading but never telling any of us what they are about.”

You tried not to allow your cheeks to heat as you thought quickly for a response. 

“Are they mysteries? Science fiction? Romance?” James asked, wiggling his eyebrows. Lily giggled from beside him. Your eyes shot to Lily. You tried to signal to her to keep quiet, but it was no use, she only returned that mischievous smirk to you. 

“Well Jamsie,” Lily started, “Remember that book that you picked up last week?”

James furrowed his brows, turning his whole attention to Lily. “Yes, how could I forget, it had fallen on the floor and I picked it up and caught a glimpse of it. The thing was filthy.”

Lily again giggled as she only looked pointedly at you. You couldn’t stop the heat that rose to your cheeks now. James looked from Lily to you, between both his girls before coming to the realization of what Lily was saying.

“What, no.” James said, “There’s no way that is what you’ve been reading all this time.”

Regulus seemed to have caught on as well and only chuckled alongside Lily.

“Oh there is a way,” Lily giggled. “She’s the one who lent me the book. It was from her personal library.” 

“Lily!” you shouted, partly in embarrassment and partly because you could no longer fool the boys into asking for a peaceful reading night alone now. “We were supposed to stick together on this one, you can’t just throw me under the bus!”

The boys stared at you, baffled, the whole group now halting just outside of Hogsmeade.

“Aww,” Regulus cooed, “our filthy girl.” He finished, slinging his arm around you and guiding you into town.

“Hey! Lily was reading them too!” you countered.

“What, are we not enough for you anymore Y/N?” James laughed. “Didn't take you to be so greedy.” James and Lily again filed in behind you and Regulus to make your way down the road to the bookstore. “All you’d have to do is ask and we would-”

“James!” You cut him off before he could say anything… revealing out in public. The last thing you needed was your lover blabbing about your bedroom activities for all of Hogsmeade to hear.

You were met with light chuckles, lucky for you they were all willing to drop the subject for now.

You four made your way through the winding roads of the town, past the sweets shop, past the clothing store. 

You found your group outside the small store filled floor to magically raised ceiling with books, books, books. Any kind of book you could imagine, this store had it. The building was expanded on the inside to hold all the books and tomes, the storefront seeming like a small building on the outside, but on the inside a warehouse.

You all entered, James reminding you all to go crazy, he was buying. With that you gave him a peck on the cheek and made your way to the sections that interested you. You watched Regulus head in the direction of the mysteries, Lily making her way to the magic non-fiction section.

You of course picked out that limited edition series that you had wanted for quite some time, as well as a few books that looked interesting to you. In total you had ten books in your arms, struggling to keep them all upright and not on the ground.

James gave you a slight smile from across the store. He made his way over to you, lightening your load by taking all the books in his arms instead. You smiled up at him as you both made your way to the register.

“Thanks,” you said softly to him. 

“Of course my love,” he answered, setting the books on the counter to pay for them, smiling at the lady behind the register.

“Um James,” you started as the books levitated over a scanner and into a bag. His attention turned to you as you continued, “I just want you to be prepared, you do realize how much books cost right?”

James chuckled from beside you. “Love,” he said sweetly, “How many times do I have to say I just want to spoil you?” 

You really wanted to enlighten him, you did. This limited edition series was not going to be cheap, and neither were the other books you had picked out, and you weren’t the only one he was treating. You glanced around him to see the four large tomes that Lily had picked out and the three hardbacks that Regulus was holding. You smirked to yourself, James was about to receive a rude awakening. But he insisted and he was, after all, loaded.

You stood and watched James’s face as the total amount kept growing, and growing, and growing. Each book scanned, his smile waned.

You hated seeing James realize this harsh truth, but that didn’t stop you and Reggie giggling as James huffed and swiped his card after hearing the final price of the seventeen books. 

All four of you exited the store, Regulus and Lily holding the bags of books, James with his head hanging a little lower. You laughed as you took his hand in yours and led him down the road.

“I tried to warn you, love,” you said softly to him.

He brushed off his sulk quickly and smiled down at you, bringing your joint hands up to his lips to kiss your knuckles. “Don’t worry about it,” he said. “I wanted to spoil you and I did.” You both continued walking down the streets of Hogsmeade, hand in hand, as Reggie and Lily led your group towards The Three Broomsticks for some butterbeer and snacks. “But maybe you all could develop a less expensive hobby,” he joked.

You decided then that you would save up for his birthday to return the favor, possibly buy some expensive quidditch gear for him.

As the day progressed, it had gotten much colder, the warming spring air dispersing as the sun went down.

You leaned in closer to him as the four of you made your way into the noisy pub. Lily found you all a booth near the back and you filed in next to her, Regulus across from you and James off to order you all something to drink. 

After some time, James appeared with four butterbeers in hand, two with whipped cream on top for you and Lily.

You smiled as you took a swig, yet another treat from James.

As he sat and cozied up next to Reggie, he asked about the books you had all picked out. Lily told you all about the tomes she had picked, how she wanted to study up on pixies and nymphs for personal research, and Regulus picked out a couple muggle mystery books he thought sounded interesting.

Their attention then turned to you as you said “My favorite author released a limited edition set of her series, so I just had to get it.” 

“And what is this series about, hmm?” James teased. You just rolled your eyes in response.

“You know,” Regulus said, setting down his butterbeer. “We could always recreate one of those filthy books with you, Y/N.”

“Regulus!” you shouted, curing into Lily’s side out embarrassment, but smiling all the same.

JAMES would probably be even more into it than the girlies. karaoke night was his idea honestly. oh he’s doing britney spears with FULL choreo and energy. he’s never taken ANYTHING so seriously. idk why but i also get the vibe that james would LOVE dua lipa 😭 he literally wouldn't pick a slow song it would have to be high energy. i also think he would do a fantastic cover of i want it that way.

SIRIUS is the reason i'm writing this. he takes karaoke night SO seriously. see: tom holland lip sync battle clip. he fucking LOVES rihanna. umbrella, breakin dishes, diamond. he has no shame. he would only do the sluttiest songs and i know that for a fact. think the weeknd die for you. literally serenading you the whole time with exaggerated dancing. he would probably get more stares and applause than anyone

REMUS would be there mostly just to watch you sing and dance around having a blast. he laughs it off and stays firmly seated every time you try to pull him up with you. HOWEVER. if abba is played, this man won’t be able to help himself. suddenly his foot is tapping and he's murmuring the lyrics to himself absentmindedly. CMON BBY SING IT!!! if he ever does go for it after too many drinks... his singing voice is actually so heavenly it's unfair

REGULUS would be that family guy clip "no peter don't make me do thi- JUST A CITY BOYYYY" like any song he would have to be forced into it but then immediately lock in. i think he would like a lot of classic rock, rolling stones, ac/dc, bowie. all his fav songs are slow and moody, he would also have an unfairly beautiful voice

EVAN knows every hot girl anthem. he would try to convince barty to do WAP with him as a duet. he loves cardi b honestly. memorized fergalicious. evan rosier would be a brat stan 100%. the only one who could successfully hype up a completely dead crowd with one song.

BARTY would be into mcr/pierce the veil emo/screamo type music, and like not the hits or the popular ones either. he finally gets a turn and everyone starts looking around like wtf is this song.... towards the end of the night evan goes "barty do the thing" and he spits rap god flawlessly

SO sirius + co. The home is in the Italian countryside bc regulus hates the noises of traffic and in the more rural areas there lives Remus and he's a sweet boy srssage and him and sirisu have an on off rlnship (its on off bc even tho its implicit bn them that they're in a rlnship even when sirius is away srs ALWAYS cheats w other girls and rjl is in the rural part of toen so he walks like 3 miles 2 get service 2 talk 2 sirisu only for sirisu to not respond.....he makes gifts for srs and srs barley responds and saves up his savings for like a month to buy sirius lipgloss after sirius said he wanted one )

Umm anyaways..jfp comes and sirius is v annoyed bc ??? Now he has to LIVE w this hobo??? But they warm up 2 each other and srs was always a Lil mean to regulus but when james was w him he'd acc Bully him and he'd run off wo regulus (he had his bugs hed be fine) and make fun of regulus 2 james bc even tho there's only a barely 2 yr age gap bn them sirius NEEDS james 2 see him as more mature and walburga doesn't like james bc he's taking her bby away from her but since she's a poised matriarch and needs to b a good hostess since her husband is lowkey tweaking 99% of thr time (the other 1% is when hes passed out drunk) she can't threaten him w one of their special occasion knives

And James has to remind himself of the decade of an age gap bn them but how would he do that when sirisu is in absurdly low hung swim shorts and is sprawled by the pool all gangly limbs and silky black hair and open pretty mouth and and his YOUTH bc he's a practically still a child and this is wrong wrong wrong wrong so james is v inconsistent w his behavior to sirius

One moment he's staring at Sirius w his mouth practically dropped open and he's making winky faces at sirius and he's just staring at Sirius from behind his sunglasses and the next he's blowing sirius off and snapping at him w words that cut cut cut and sirius wants to dig his fingers inside those cuts and show james his insides and he's intrigued bc how could he not be? No one has ever treated him like this

and all the while Remus is at his cottage w his sick grandma (who in siriuss opinion should just kick the bucket at this point) in his 2 bedroom house where he lives w 4 ppl and sleeps on a mattress on the floor, staying up late and making anniversary cards for him and sirius. and regulus is watching his older brother sneak off w a complete stranger rather than talk w him abt bugs like they would when they were 8 and all was ok back then but all is not ok rn bc what was so nice abt james anyways?? He doesn't kno 5 languages, he doesn't play 3 instruments, he doesn't kno siriuss breakfast order when Sirius was 9, he doesn't stay up hoping PRAYING that sirius would open his eyes and realize that regulus is-and has always been- RIGHT. THERE.

Anywho ..1 day james kisses sirius under the trees near the pool and sirius can feel his whole world upend but then james pushes him away and srs asks why and james says srs is so young and srs says that's not the rzn and james says that it's all a joke to sirius and sirius says that acc he's still in a 4yr rlnship w a boy so... and james starts yelling at him and sirius kisses him and they make out and have sex and all is good!!!

But guess who also spends his time under the trees near the pool? Collecting bugs and rocks to show his father now that his brother is practically gone?

Regulus tells his parents and he's happy bc finally sirisu would get his dues and maybe after that they might even make up w james out the house!!

Walburga who is ever so composed tweaks. Tf. Out. And James is shocked bc walburga smiled at him and made sure to tell the servants to serve him his eggs abit overcooked bc uncooked eggs make him nauseous and she always made sure the wine of the night would be jamess favourite and now she's screaming at him and ...is that A KNIFE???!!! so umm yeah he takes like half his stuff and skeddadles (coward)

and walburga then screams at sirius and sirius is shocked bc walburga is never mad at HIM and walburga is shocked bc she swore to herself that she'd never yell at sirius and the day he was born he was born STRONG and beautiful and perfect (and not like regulus who was born a stillborn(and he wasnt even orions and so he was contaminated and weak and far too soft and)) and now she was screaming at Sirius and she must have stopped at some point bc when she blinks she's in her bed and she can hear Sirius cry and she doesn't comfort him and infact feels childishly vindicated even tho he won't stop crying and (and the next morning he was gone and the only person left was) regulus.

It's all HIS fault bc why would he tell her that when he knew it'd make her upset at sirius and didn't he understand how pERFECT sirius was??? So she cries and yells and cries and yells and cries and yells and doesn't notice (even tho she does and there it is again that childish vindication) it when regulus takes her sleeping pills up to the bath 2 wks after sirius left and she doesn't care (she does. bc regulus still had her blood if not orion's) bc sirius is GONE

Sirius after running away goes 2 Remus first to beg 4 some cash so he could catch the bus to the hotel james would be sure to be at, and him and remus haven't talked in DAYS and so he doesn't kno that remuss grandma has (FINALLY) kicked the bucket and remus opens the door and app asking for cash first thing is not??? ok??? Bc remus starts yelling at him w red rimmed eyes and sirius is confused bc ?? Bro u got upgraded from having to live w 4 ppl in a 2 bedroom house to 3ppl in a 2 bedroom house ????

But Sirius leaves and stays at a shady pub w the little cash he has and has to share a room w a man w piercings and tattoos and green hair and drugs and he's lonely so they fuck and get high and fuck and get high and fuck get high and get high to fuck and fuck high and he forgets abt Remus and forgets abt regulus and his mother and his father and the stupid gardener who comes 20 min early and he forgets james and and

He tries catching the train and gets the money from the man under the pretense of getting more drugs and goes to the hotel but james left a day ago ashen sirius was busy getting high n fuckin and he breaks down right there in the lobby bc james was probably back at his family home in America and well ummm yeah...he dies(?) In the streets (its v much a lucy gray bird situation i dunno u dunno)
