What do you think about Tenna’s actual design? The post where you drew him with your oc was my first time seeing him (forgot to block the spoilers tag, whoops), and I got so excited! But when I actually saw him in-game, I was kinda disappointed? I think his design fits too much into the stereotypical tumblr sexyman blueprint…

I’ve seen a bunch of people draw him a bit chubby and I think it suits him better? The canon version kinda feels like Mettaton, but redesigned to be more silly and have the same vibe as Spamton? That’s about it though and there’s nothing really interesting.. Am I making sense here?

im FUCKED a whlie ago i made a sim for underfell mettaton and i didn't have any mods yet that would let me give him multiple pairs of eyes so i compromised by giving him sunglasses instead so i at least wouldn't see the Incorrectness

problem is, now that sim has slowly morphed into genuinely one of the cuntiest ones i have and even though he actually DOES have four eyes now i can't get myself to take the sunglasses back off. i might have to make it canon for whenever i finally actually draw out my version of him. how in the hell would i Ever draw four eyes under one pair of sunglasses and still make that look good or even just like mildly comprehensible

I think you'd like Undertale, it's alright. I love the characters. Lots of puns to their names lol. I think it was mentioned that Undertale is more of an AU to Deltarune. I can't decide who my favorite character is. There's different endings to it. I do love the horror of it.

I do! I've actually liked it for years. Um, I'm going to be kinda cringe for a minute before I get into the actual game it's self. Spoilers?? Do I need to warn that?

I actually fell into the game when I was in 5th grade, I couldn't even play the game and it still managed to get a grip on me. I watched every video I could find about it, mainly getting sucked into videos reading comics about the game. Me and my friend at the time both loved the game so we would talk about it for hours and real fanfics on Quotev and Wattpad. I actually remember seeing "Down To The Bone." When/ around the time dropped, I listened to it on repeat. I also watched the "Undertale If It Was Realistic." A lot too. ALSO, the undertale parody of "Stronger Than You" was quoted a lot. My friend was a huge fan of Temmie and they used to talk like her and I remember always thinking that was cool. I was always a huge fan of Papyrus, Mettaton, and Sans. Mettaton specifically (more on that later). And I guess I just remember, wanting so bad to be able to be apart of the fandom, but not being able to. I begged my mom to get me merch for the game while trying to hide how I knew so much about the game. (I wasn't allowed on YouTube or social media so I had to tell her I loved it bc my friend did.) I did not get the merch I wanted btw, but um, I guess it's just, it's my childhood in a way. I also used to try and draw the characters but I couldn't draw so I ended up just imagining scenarios in my head. I used to swing on the swing set at recess and just imagine stuff about the game.

Okay so the fun not cringe stuff but still cringe in a way.

So, when I finally played undertale for the first time, oh my god??? It fixed something in me, what it fixed, I don't know. I remember being super confused and trying to look at a guide for everything. I also felt so bad because I killed a few monsters in my first run and when Undyne told me I was killing them I cried. I also cried at her fight because I was dying over and over and I didn't know what to do. And also at the time I thought there were two endings, Pacifist and Genocide, and I cried when I couldn't save Asgore because I thought did something wrong (because at this point I had reset the game and killed no one). Fun fact, I have never played the Genocide route because I can't kill Papyrus. I can't do it man. I'd rather die. I love the sound track, and I love all the characters. And I love the game. I want to get an undertale tattoo at some point I love it that much.

I guess the last thing I want to say is that the game probably made me realize I was queer, in some way. Like it might not have been an instant thing, but it definitely opened my mind to queer ideas when all I had been fed was gay people bad, trans people evil. I think Mettaton was a huge thing to me, I wanted to be like him, I thought he was so cool. I didn't know men could be feminine and be cool, that it wasn't some joke. I just, I think it made me realize something some how. Also seeing a lesbian couple made a little switch in my brain flip, like oh, I like them, and they're gay, so why don't I like other gay people? (I had a LOT of internalized homophobia and transphobia and it was somehow fixed by undertale go figure 😭)

I don't know, maybe this isn't the best breakdown or what you were looking for, and to be fair it's probably unintelligible rambling. But it did give me a chance to look back on my past and how much this game really changed me and made my life better. So thanks! Um and sorry I suppose.

Also! Shocker, and probably insane to admit, but... I never thought I'd find a game that made me feel like Undertale did and then I found TF2. TF2 is my new Undertale and that's horrific </3

I really loved it but it was not an easy game even in pacifist mode. I think I'm a little too old and came in too late to be really sucked in but I did find it worth the difficulty.

i do enjoy the story & the characters! but yeah i guess i just didn't realize/expect that "you don't have to fight, you can talk to the monsters" actually meant "you have to frantically dodge bullets while attempting to talk to the monsters" which is not my idea of a good time haha

with the cow/goat lady you have to let her almost kill you then her attacks will all miss you (even if you don't evade) bc she can't bare to finish it-after a few rounds of this, she lets you pass (You won't get the Pacifist ending if you kill her, unfortunately) The golden part of the game is the playback value and the games memory/recollection of you\prior you's- (it's faster to go through each sequential time bc you don't need to explore as much) I'd rec trying the Pacifist run, again, once you beat it this time if you can stand it. But, also, if you're not having fun then it's not worth continuing to not have fun with it, y'know, so do you

yeah i looked it up & apparently it was going to take like 20+ seemingly futile attempts at "sparing" her to get her to stop? that kind of thing just annoys me. if i try an action 10+ times with no apparent results, i am going to assume the action is impossible! also i took enough damage from her that i thought she was just gonna kill me & was like well. guess it's you or me. i think i must have JUST been to the point where her attacks would stop hitting me. everyone keeps calling me a murderer but it really didn't seem like i had a choice there :/

i think if i didn't have to redo all the bullet hell shit i might try it again! but imo those are enough hassle for me to say i'd rather just watch someone else get the other endings

If you accidentally killed Toriel then just watch the Pacifist Run ending on YouTube when you’re done, if you don’t kill anyone then you go through one of the default endings first and then it partially rewinds, lets you make some different choices, and the gives you the full ending with a couple more boss fights included. It does mean you won’t get the heart attack it gave me when it force-quit itself as part of the story but I thought it just crashed and was going to force me to redo a boss I am REALLY bad at bullet hell games. The random dummy took me way longer to beat than it had any right to and filled me with rage, but not as much as one boss fight that I think took me like 35ish attempts? Good thing that boss fight has one of my favorite songs in the game playing behind it.

Changes from the canon otherwise;

Sans and Pap are playing a married couple, according to the REPO canon- this is retconned bc this is not that kind of AU. The lost relationship here is the deep-rooted brother bond that we see in every instance of Undertale AUs. 

Sans and Frisk have an uncle/niece relationship, with Pap having played the role of 'adoptive father' for Frisk previously. 

Frisk is about 10 when they arrive and is the REPO-canon 17 during the events of the 'opera'.

The same can be said for the Asgore as Rotti and Pap as Marni dynamic- the 'unrequainted obsessive love' situation is replaced with Asgore having wanted Papyrus as his Hand. Frustrated by Sans keeping Pap from agreeing to this role and getting in the way, this obsession only becomes worse when Pap dies and leaves him with no probable hand.

Except, well, there's the judge (good doctor?) Sans (Nate) and gee, his powers sure do come in handy in this fell-adjacent version of the underground! He puts that to good use via blackmail- Sans thinks he's at fault for the circumstances of Pap's death and while it's actually Asgore behind it, Asgore uses this belief to control Sans.

Frisk is in a stalled pacifist run- halted by Pap's death but seemingly unaware of resets. This is their very first run and so far they haven't died. Flowey doesn't leave the ruins with Frisk in this fell-adjacent setting, one of the biggest differences from the original fell canon. Forced to live most of her life inside the skelehouse after Pap's death because Sans is tired and stressed enough as it is with his double life and trying to keep his promise to Pap that he'd protect this kid.

Papyrus is the one who takes a liking to Frisk and literally adopts the kid when they wander out of the ruins, a mess and half dead. He literally dies protecting them and forces Sans to make the fateful promise to protect the kid and keep them alive. Dies off screen, Asgore 'finds' him and claims it to be Sans' fault to divert when Sans finds him with the evidence. "You should have been there to protect him! You're his older brother, where were you!?"

Toriel is blackmailed / extorted into being an active Queen and Asgore's wife against her will and this removes her tutorial role entirely- she is instead fully immersed in the role of Mag. She sees her dead child Chara in Frisk instead of having any true relation to the brothers. She was once friends with Sans through the door as per the usual canon, but her returning to being Queen after some time being the crazy ruins lady ended that friendship prematurely.

Asgore as Rotti is rich with souls and level. He is dying, as per the REPO canon, and doesn't want to leave his wealth and kingdom to any of his various subleaders- Undyne, who leads the Guard/Military as the General; Alphys, royal scientist, as Pavi (who craves praise vicariously through her tech, especially Mettaton) and Mettaton, whose inhabitance of the robotic body is only managed with unhealthy and destructive DT Dose / Upgrade cycles, leading to further and further instability but dependence- as per Amber Sweet.

I think I have a hard time committing to permanent hcs about sexuality and whatnot because of how wildly it varies to me.  Like, I really love the term aroaspec because it covers a massive amount of grey area, but it also doesn't provide a lot of clarity.

  With that in mind, I'll still try to shed a little more light on my hcs as a point of reference, though they're a bit fluid and could change depending on my own vibes or circumstance.

  Generally I see most Sanses as being more strictly aroace than their brothers.  The vibe I've always gotten from Sans is that he generally thrives off of close connections and a few people he genuinely trusts that are really compatible with him.  He seems most comfortable with friendship dynamics, like bonding with Toriel over jokes, him and Alphys teasing each other, looking after Grillby's bar when he needs to step out and vice versa, the bar seeming like a comfort place for him.

  While I don't necessarily think affectionate feelings are out of the question, I don't really feel like he’s a very romantic or sexual person.  If he were to be in any sort of committed relationship, I think it'd definitely fall more into the category of a QPR than anything else.  More so two (or more I guess?) people close with each other choosing to spend their lives together, you know?

  That being said, this varies a bit AU to AU.  I still feel like he’s largely aroace, but in some cases he'd want to be in a romantic relationship, or could have romantic feelings for someone special.  I think mostly those who'd be more inclined towards that would be the swapped Sanses, though probably less so the Swapped Fell Sanses.

  As for sexuality, I could imagine a decent number of Sanses being willing, not really sex averse, and some of them have jobs that entail that sort of thing, but most if not all don't personally experience sexual attraction, even if they do still have some level of libido.

  Overall, blanketly, I see Sanses as highly valuing trust and equality in relationships, but not wanting anything more "traditional" with those they care about, with a few exceptions, and a few who'd be willing to try regardless, and possibly with success even!

• As for the Papyri, I typically see them as being much more loose in aroaspec standings, more varied case to case, but still leaning pretty far from allo the vast majority of the time.

  A long standing hc I've had about classic Papyrus' sexuality and romanticism is that he's predominantly aro, only slightly ace, but very desperate for connection, which confuses and frustrates him often.

  Like, the idea of romance and soulmates and all that jazz probably appeals to him quite a lot, we can see in game how much he loves Mettaton who is a massive ham about that sort of stuff, and Papyrus trying hard to...well, kind of figure out how dates work in the midst of one.  He enthusiastically helps Frisk/the player get Undyne and Alphys together, too, I think he’s very fond of the idea of romance, but the moment he’s actually a part of the puzzle, suddenly it's not working as well as he'd hoped.

  I'd imagine, even with their own varied stances, a lot of other Papyri have similar struggles with being confused by their own feelings on the matter.  I think this largely comes from their reflective nature as well as wanting closeness and intimacy but not really knowing how to achieve that "the right way".

  I'd say over all, they all lean demi to ace on both fronts, with Fell Papyri leaning more toward the demi-aroace end, Non-Fell, Non-Swapped Papyri and Swapped Fell Papyri leaning aro demisexual, and Swapped Papyri almost closest to allo amongst them, though would probably depend on the potential partner.

  I feel like I didn't really explain any of this very well, but tbth I was looking for spicy ask prompts and realized a lot of them didn't suit my guys at all bc I Overthink Everything and go "well that depends-" about everything so I felt like trying to make a post to lay some groundwork and now I'm thinking I have perhaps made it more confusing.

i finally got myself to focus my brain enough to play through all of undertale yellow. did true paci and genocide by myself, watched the neutral boss and ending (jfc, first of all)

i cannot recommend genocide to any but the most gamer of gamers like myself because the final boss is legitimately so hard as to be almost impossible (yes, even when compared to sans/undyne)... however, my brain is such that undyne the undying was harder to me than sans was and axis was harder to me than the UTY pacifist final boss was, so it may be a question of brain-melting mechanics vs. raw skillchecks or something like that

all the routes were fantastic though, barring the absurd difficulty spike at the end of genocide it was fun, i liked the characters, i was glad they didn't, aside from flowey, use pre-existing characters very much (toriel, asgore, alphys, off-screen undyne, and mentions of mettaton were in it briefly) or try to overwrite/guess at canon much (there were some things but nothing crazy), music was good to great, i liked each ending

worthy of a full playthrough if you havent already skip geno if you dont want to due to not liking geno routes or if you dont think you can handle a ridiculously hard final fight, i recommend to just watch it if you are the latter bc it is still worthy of being seen imo
