so mind you, i haven‘t played the game nearly this far yet (i haven‘t even gotten to that romance scene myself), so i won‘t have an answer to the how they‘ll end up part — and i also would ask everyone to not talk about that here yet, as that seems to be a massive spoiler for most of us 😬 even the romance scene itself is a big spoiler, as it only happens rather late in the game (with lots of building up to it throughout the plot, but still), but since the ign youtube channel has uploaded it like one hour after the game even launched, it‘s more or less an open secret now anyway.

what i CAN tell you is that it won‘t be a 'one time thing'. it will be at least referenced afterwards (idk about follow-up romantic scenes, but i‘m positive there are some). one of the game‘s leading directors already talked about this some time before launch, that choosing the romance with hans may even have authentic medieval legal consequences (we‘ll see how that turns out, but it could open quite an interesting path about 'fighting for your true love against all odds‘ so-to-say). a german gaming channel also posted a review recently, in which they briefly talked about the ending and how minor aspects could change here, depending on which romantic option you go for.

so all of this talk to say: i don‘t have a definitive answer for you here, but yes, it WILL matter after, and knowing warhorse and how they can turn an interaction with the most minor side character into an hour long quest, and seeing how hans‘s and henry‘s relationship is the key aspect of this game (whether you romance him or not), and how this love story was set up over the course of both games — i‘d guess it will matter a lot.

People who insist that Shiro should have remained dead, and that Keith is a superior leader of Voltron, have to hate Allura.

Case in point; Shiro, despite being well over a head taller than Allura, goes out of his way to put himself at eye-level with her when offering her words of comfort, assurance, and advice.

Keith not only flagrantly disregards Allura's safety, when Allura is seated and in emotional turmoil, Keith, with the ostensible intention of extending consolation, approaches her backside and remains standing on a platform behind and above her, even when she's forced to look back and up at him to continue their conversation.

One of these Heads of Voltron valued the Heart, and was consistently framed as being on equal footing with her.

The other disrespected the Heart, and was rewarded by the narrative for his disrespect.

I honestly am going to try giving up on talking about antisemitism in any context except private convos with other Jewish people. The truth is that virtually no one outside of Jewish communities cares. No one. They didn't care before, they don't care now, and they won't care after. Some of the smartest people I know on here and in life do not care, have never cared, and will only pretend to care the next time there's a "punching Nazis" meme on the dash. They do not care about this deeply embedded bigotry because the truth is that antisemitism is a central pillar of, well, virtually everything everywhere, and to interrogate that is to interrogate a foundational aspect of their culture, religion, and society, which no one is interested in doing, even on a website where the majority of people at least pay lip service to deconstructing societal biases and institutional oppression. It is much simpler and more convenient to not care. So, keep on not caring, I guess. I'm not going to forget it. Neither will the other Jewish people around you.

The answer to "oh no I'm not X enough for this community" is always make- your own community. Not in a "make your own post" type way but in a "BE the person no you needed when no one else was there. Create the space that didn't exist for you".
