THIS ! They ruined such a good opportunity with Tony and Deeks (and kensi) by making her act so horribly towards Deeks the entire episode

A/N:“Blame it on Rio” has never been among my favorite episodes. I think it was unnecessary and unimaginative to pit Deeks and Tony against each other when they should have a lot in common, such as starting out as cops. Oddly enough, it’s my dad’s favorite episode. Anyhoo, here’s a dialogue drabble that takes place post episode. It’s not quite my usual fluffy kind.

Kensi, cheerfully: It was really nice to meet Tony. I know some of the other agents from DC, but we never had the chance to work together before.

Deeks: Yeah, he’s a good agent.

Kensi: That’s it? I thought you’d be gushing about how in sync you were with the whole Knight Rider thing. You two got along pretty well in the end. Bonding over your hair care routines. *she snorts*

Deeks, wryly: Yeah, I think you did enough gushing for the both of us.

Kensi, pulling a face: What’s that supposed to mean?

Deeks, sighing: You spent most of the day telling DiNozzo how great he is.

Kensi: Ok. It was his first time with the full team. I wanted to be nice. Welcoming.

Deeks: Uh-huh, and did you have to make comparisons to me the entire time to do it?

Kensi, shocked: What? Deeks, you didn’t take of that seriously, right? We joke all the time.

Deeks: Yeah, no, I get that. Sometimes it would nice for you to act like you actually like me in front of other people.

Kensi, speechless for a second: I—Deeks, I’m sorry. I’d didn’t realize how it would sound.

Deeks, shrugging: It’s ok.

Kensi, holds out her hand and Deeks lets her take it: I’m going to do better. *she kisses his knuckles* I promise.

Deeks: I love you.

Kensi: I love you too.
