about this blog (and me) :3
my name is fable (or fae for short), and this is my hannibal sideblog that i finally made after months of telling myself i didn't need another sideblog
LITERALLY NONE OF MY POSTS ARE THAT SERIOUS IM JUST HERE TO CHILL
my hannibal fic masterpost
on this blog:
• no bigotry obvs
• i make original posts, including text posts, art, and links to my fics. please do not repost my art :)
• there will also be many reblogs
• i don’t post/reblog super explicit nsfw stuff, but there are nsfw posts/themes/jokes on this blog, and they will not be tagged
• blood and gore will not be tagged
• my tags are generally for organization's sake. my main tags will include:
for my original posts #fable's stuff
for text-reliant posts #txt
for image-reliant posts #img
for my art #fable draws
for general art #art
for my writing/fanfic #fable writes
for general writing/fanfic #fanfic
for hannigram specific #hannigram
for later reference/to read #bookmark
should any significant ones be added, i’ll list them here.
• this user is LGBTQ+, pro-Palestinian (and anti-Zionist), pro-BLM, etc.
• i’m half mexican and also (mostly) fluent in spanish
• i'm very friendly! but i tend to get nervous talking via DMs so they'll usually be closed unless i follow you. ask box will sometimes be open, sometimes be closed.
• posts will revolve around characters, very rarely the actors. this is not an actor fan blog bc i tend to get uncomfortable idolizing real people and I don’t like being too emotionally invested in celebrities. if you do talk about/post about the actors, you’re still more than welcome! it’s just not my thing so i won’t post about them much
• this blog is for fun, and my philosophy with fandom is ALWAYS “this is all fake, and i'm here to have fun". that's not to say i don't love a good discussion/ analysis, and disagreements in fan spaces are normal and okay:)
• i love/like most of the characters in the show so if you see me making a post shitting on them/making fun of smth they did there is a 99.999% chance it’s a joke lol
• unless it’s mason verger. if i make a post shitting on him i mean it :3

The downfall of Emilie Autumn, was just sad
I honestly gotta say that Emilie Autumn was my life. From 2010-2020. She was my world. She was my goddess. I was at my lowest point when I found her music and she uplifted me throughout my terrible depression. I even got into her Asylum Facebook group, I got my Plague Rat #W25Z got a lot of interactions with Emilie in the group and got this lovely email from Emilie.

Then in 2020 I found out she was a racist, was using BLM to make money off of it and was silencing black and POC voices on her instagram and then the Asylum facebook group just stopped altogether. No one got to comment and no one could use their voices.
Never meet your heroes 😔 but the good that came out of all the drama is I got some really good friends out of the plague rats I did meet.
I stopped caring for Emilie Autumn after the incidents, if you don't know what I mean, read this masterpost and this post of her old controversies.
But this comment on reddit sums up why her career never went anywhere.
"Whatsup with Emilie these days?
So i was a fan in high school but she literally stopped producing and performing after fight like a girl i assume? I know she played in a horror movie but what does she do now for a living and im suprised she didn't became a bigger artist during the years"
"Uuh. Where to start...The movies flopped ("The Devil's Carnival"), partly because of development hell that delayed production of the second movie for years and the hype died down, partly because the concept was great but the movies were... not that good. She was best buds with the director for a few years around the time they were released; like many of her friends over the years, he seems to have disappeared from her life since then (more on that later). But she did start a relationship with her co-star Marc Senter; they're still together and seemingly happy.
The projected Asylum Musical (that she was originally planning to premiere in 2014, lol - she's been talking about it for over a decade...) has yet to come to fruition. She moved to NYC in large part for this purpose (to be closer to Broadway). She hired a voice coach and started taking ballet lessons to prep for playing her own role. She went through a period of making wild casting announcement of the Famous Friends she'd met through "Devil's Carnival" - like Adam Pascal as Dr Stockhill (unclear whether this was just for fun / a favor for his co-star at the movie premiere, or if he was actually interested in the role), or Ted "Jesus Christ Superstar" Neeley as Sir Edwards (hilarious). But now it's 2023, she appears/claims to still be composing and writing the score and even altering some character names (we'll get to that), all the supportive Famous Friends seem to have vanished, and we seem nowhere closer to an actual Asylum Musical on this plane of existence.
But hey, it's the entertainment industry - many people try to get a shot at making their dream musical a reality, and fail. C'est la vie - maybe she just got unlucky, right? Well... maybe so, but other elements suggest that it's something other than just shit luck. First of all, EA does not appear to understand how Broadway works, or that it applies to her too. None of her projected timelines ever made sense. She "doesn't want" (couldn't get) outside investors, so she's planning on financing it all herself (BUT HOW??? oh, nevermind, we'll get to that too). SHe also seems insistent on debuting on Broadway, and nowhere else - no off-Broadway or local theaters for this gal! Nevermind the fact that she's got zero professional experience writing, directing or producing a musical, and that no Broadway professional in their right mind would ever give a slot to a niche musical by a basically-unknown indie artist.
In general, she seems reluctant to work with other people or meet their expectations... which is a problem for such a project. For instance, the closest we got to an "actual" production announcement was that a theater school was going to workshop Emilie Autumn's "Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls" next semester. IIRC, she promoted this and said she was excited. And then... nothing. No news for weeks. When people went back to the school's website, the announcement had been completely removed. And that was that. What on Earth happened, that the school didn't even want to publicly acknowledge this change of plans? Methinks they realized that they had been misled (ie the musical was not finished), or there was a MASSIVE conflict with Emilie that led to the workshop falling through.
Then, there's the gradual vanishing of everyone who had originally let her (in earnest or as a joke, we'll never know) attach their sometimes Very Famous names to her Very Obscure and Unfinished Project. And that includes... Veronica Varlow! Yeah, you read that right. Even though they now live in the same city, they haven't talked in years and don't follow each other on IG. It must have been something big, because some time ago, EA made a very unsubtle announcement about changing the name "Veronica" (the Asylum character who became Emily's tragic lesbian lover in the 87459th reworking of the story) to "Charlotte" because "I have been told that Veronica sounds anachronistic in Victorian England" (sure hun, if you say so). I still wonder whether it was EA writing her ex-BFF out of her life in a ridiculously dramatic way, or whether it was VeVa who asked EA to keep her name out of her mouth... and her script.
So yeah. She's not friends anymore with any of the people you remember from being a fan in high school. She's living in NYC, and pretending there's a musical in the works. She's also been making visual art for a couple years. Personally, I really like her mixed-media art with medical supplies - I think it's some of her most interesting work in years, better than the last two albums. But then, recently, she, uh... tried something else. I'll just let you search this sub for "AI" because I still can't wrap my head around What the Fuck She Was Thinking and it's exhausting to even recount.
tl;dr - She never became a bigger artist because she's been stuck on the same stale, unrealistic project for 10+ years, because she stopped touring and releasing new music, and because she's seemingly alienated all of her friends and industry connexions... as well as most of her ever-shrinking fanbase. A real shame all around."

intro post at last
hey i'm river! this is my comics sideblog, and you can also find my main @cirth-ithil, my star trek sideblog @transjadziadax, and on ao3 as moonrunes. my pronouns are they/them if you please, i'm an adult, i'm japanese-american, i'm a writer, and i've been reading comics for Far Too Long. ***edit to add: I am more or less on hiatus. please do not expect consistent posting or current comics.***
i mostly post about x men, with a side of other marvel stuff and a very small amount of dc. most characters are going to be tagged with [name]/[codename], tho sometimes that doesn't work very well (especially with magneto, or monica rambeau, etc) so that tagging system is not to be trusted (especially since tumblr keeps deleting my tags?). if you need me to tag something for a trigger lmk
i have many favorite Guys (gender neutral) but i have a particular soft spot for the new mutants and the champions. i do have an actual list of favorite characters but it's a little long for an intro post
sometimes i make original posts. the catch-all tag for original posts is #river rambles
sometimes i write things. that'll be at #river writes (i'll make a masterpost in a second)
sometimes i will reblog things that don't fall under the comic book umbrella. those will be tagged #not comics in case you'd like to blacklist it.
idk what else to put. i'm fucking tired of krakoa tho. also charles xavier is a cunt. Fuck that guy.
as long as you're gonna be civil about it, my askbox is open. i do enjoy talking about comics, despite the copious amounts of bitching and moaning i do about them. I do also want to add that I'm pretty free with the block button, my best friend the block button
ah! don't bother interacting if you're transphobic, homophobic, zionist, islamophobic, racist, anti-Semitic, or if you oppose BLM, landback movements, and/or the overthrowing of colonialist structures. Also, as my petty dni: i fucking hate the new mutants movie, so pretty much everything i write for the new mutants comes with the warning "new mutants movie likers fuck off this is not for you." it's a shit movie, both as an adaptation of the original comics, as an example of some really racist "writing," and also just generally not very well realized (source: i was a film major)
the queue should usually spit out five posts in a day, but i do have a full time job so sometimes it runs out. i'm still here tho, just tired
yeah that's it. hope you survive the experience

Why did you delete the list of bad things EA did post? I can't find it anymore
Eh I deleted it finally cause I mostly don't agree with some of the things I wrote anymore. Thought about deleting this and/or whole blog for some time. I typed this at the height of my disappointment with EA and it reads either too personal or too much like annoying SJW tumblrina at times. Lithium chic shirts, cutting diary, influence on her fans, some of the stuff she said, even the whole BLM drama - I look at it different now. Some of it I still agree with (her depiction of mental illness, Britney Spears, schizophrenics, addicts etc. and mostly her holier than thou attitude in absolutely everything etc.) Another reason is it was much too long and with overflown with personal commentary & blah blah. If I ever was to post some masterpost of EA drama I'd have to rewrite it shorter and more objective. But I'm not sure a post like that is needed for a dead fandom. I think everyone already knows it all by now

Please remember to donate directly to organisations/charities and buy from black-owned businesses rather than donating your money to change.org. The money donated to change.org IS USED TO KEEP THEIR WEBSITE AFLOAT and DOES NOT GO TOWARDS ORGANISATIONS THAT NEED IT. Here are a few places to put your money instead of change.org (Please note that Minnesota Freedom Fund have temporarily frozen donations due to the outstanding number that they’ve been so graciously overwhelmed with!):
Black Visions
Reclaim the Block (Highly recommend donating here and checking out their page!)
North Star Health Collective (This links contains a list of reputable charities to donate to)

We Love Lake Street (helping to rebuild small businesses!)
NAAC Legal Defense and Educational Fund
Community Justice Exchange (Links to National Bail Fund Network)
NPAP (Helps towards law enforcement accountability)
Know Your Rights Camp (This is a big one, if you haven’t heard of it, take a look at their website!)
The Liberty Fund (Another big one!)

In light of reaching 200 followers I’d like to say this:
In comparison to some, this platform is tiny, but I’m trying my best to use it to spread info and awareness as well as I can—because when u have the option of just looking away from systematic cruelty, racism, and injustice, u know there’s something really fucking wrong with the world.
Here are some links I’ve found and compiled in hopes of spreading important information.

I want to add to NOT WEAR SWIM GOGGLES! They work off of suction to your face so if you get hit with a rubber bullet, it will probably still cause damage to your eye when you try to pull them off. I’m a swimmer and have felt my eyes start to pull when taking my goggles off after pushing them on really tight and then diving down far where the pressure gets greater. If you’re going to wear goggles, make sure they cover more than just your eyes, you want a lot of surface area.

los angeles freedom fund
louisville community fund
massachusetts bail fund

MORE PLACES TO DONATE
note: more links are listed in the masterposts below.
northstar health collective (healthcare and medical aid for people on the front lines)
reclaim the block (aims to redistribute police funding to help the minneapolis community)
twin cities dsa (provides fresh groceries and hot meals to people in minneapolis)
2. educate yourself
it isn’t enough to sign petitions and reblog/retweet/etc. nonblack people, including people of color, owe it to black people to educate themselves and correct themselves and the people around them on anti-blackness.
note: more links are in the masterposts linked below.
resources and tools regarding racism and anti-blackness (google sheets compilation)
readings on society, racism, the prison system, etc. (twitter thread)
“where do we go after ferguson?” by michael eric dyson
official black lives matter website
3. give out supplies to protestors
people need supplies to protest safely, and even if they bring supplies with them, they can often run out. if you’re able, stock up and hand them out to people protesting. for more supplies to donate, see the “george floyd action” google docs link in section 5.
water bottles (dehydration and heatstroke are not things people should have to deal with alongside bastard cops. if the police in your area are particularly violent or known to use tear gas, get the ones with the sports cap/suction-thing/etc so people can use them as emergency eye-flushes.)
snacks (make sure to take into account that people have allergies of all sorts. foods will have a little label that says “may contain” and then list any potential allergens. write the allergens on the ziploc (or any container you use) in permanent marker, or better yet, write the snacks included in the pack.)
masks (don’t forget there’s still a pandemic going on. also it will aid in deterring facial recognition when the police try to track down protestors, also part two, if the cops use tear gas, wearing a mask (with the combination of a scarf or bandana) will lessen the adverse effects. lessen, not stop.)
bandanas, scarves, etc. and goggles (ski goggles, swimming goggles, etc.) (see above for explanation on the scarves. same goes for the goggles. anti–tear gas and anti–facial recognition.)
clean shirts (for people who are heavily gassed. also helps deter recognition through clothing.)
wound care supplies (band-aids, packets of neosporin packets or a similar antibiotic, alcohol wipes, etc.; if you can, decant bactine into those little travel bottles.)
a sharpie or another type of marker (for writing bail numbers or emergency contacts on arms, hands, etc. it’s not enough to have your city’s bail fund number stored on your phone; the police won’t give it to you to look it up. give people a marker so they can write it down, preferably not washable so it isn’t easily removed.)
IMPORTANT: KNOWING FIRST AID
tear gas: if you’re hit, get out as fast and as soon as you can. take anyone you can with you. the longer you’re in the gas, the harder it will be for you to see, and it can irritate your airways, making it hard to breathe. if you’re hit, don’t run; it’ll only make things worse on your lungs. when you leave the area, take a cold shower. don’t use hot water (it will only reactivate the agent); don’t bathe (it will only spread the CS around). (source 1) (source 2) (cdc fact sheet on tear gas)
move them to a clean and ventilated area where it’s as safe as possible.
ask them if they’re wearing contact lenses. have them remove it. if they’re wearing glasses, rinse it with water.
solution of half liquid antacid, half water. spray from the inside going out, with the head tilted back and slightly towards the side being rinsed. if they say it’s okay, open the eye slightly while doing this. (source)
bullet wounds: the most important thing is to stop the bleeding. be sure to check for an exit wound and cover that as well. treat both wounds, but treat the worse one first.
stop the bleed (youtube video by uc san diego health)
first aid in active shooting scenarios
making a tourniquet (a commercial tourniquet is best, but improvised ones can work as well if done properly; the most important things to remember is that tourniquets are for limb injuries and are not meant for the head or torso and that they have to be very tightly wound on the injury.)
how to apply pressure dressings
miscellaneous
adult cpr tutorial (youtube video by cincinnati children’s; think of “staying alive” by the beegees or “uptown funk”)
4. be a source of information
be responsible with this. people’s lives are at stake. that being said, the media is a fucking joke and the best way to get accurate information in a grassroots rebellion is amongst ourselves. record everything, but if you are going to share any information at all, be sure to blur people’s faces.
signal (encrypted messenger app; messages delete after x amount of time): app store | google play

NUMBERS TO CALL FOR ARRESTED PROTESTORS (ALPHABETICAL ORDER; SOURCES LINKED TO THE NUMBER)
remember to keep phones OFF unless absolutely necessary. cell phone towers, stingrays, location notifs can all be used to track you and other protestors. don’t fuck around. if your phone must be on, keep it on airplane mode as often as possible and only communicate using encrypted methods. no, snapchat doesn’t count. (a twitter thread on stingrays, for those interested)

AFRICAN & BLACK PHILOSOPHY: Getting Started
Hello everyone! As many of us who study philosophy in some form are likely aware, people of color, especially black philosophers, are radically underrepresented in the field (composing only 1.32% of all philosophers in the US). In order to combat such marginalization, and in attempt to help amplify black voices within the field of philosophy, I have complied a series of links & information here for learning more about African/black philosophy, especially within the US. Please feel free to add to this post if you feel that anything is missing, esp if ur a black person!
Overview:
According to Wikipedia.org: “African philosophy is the philosophical discourse produced by indigenous Africans and their descendants, including African Americans. African philosophers may be found in the various academic fields of philosophy, such as metaphysics, epistemology, moral philosophy, and political philosophy. One particular subject that many African philosophers have written about is that on the subject of freedom and what it means to be free or to experience wholeness.”
Articles to start with:
“What African Philosophy Can Teach You About the Good Life.”
“A truly African philosophy.”
“African Philosophy.”
“Descartes was wrong: ‘a person is a person through other persons.’”
“Does Western Philosophy Have Egyptian Roots?”
“What You Should Know About Contemporary African Philosophy.”
“Philosophy in Africa - A Case of Epistemic Injustice in the Academy.”
“The African Enlightenment.”
“The Radical Philosophy of Egypt.”
“The first God.”
“African Philosophy Is More Than You Think It Is.”
And some introductory texts:
Kwasi Wiredu, A Companion to African Philosophy. Malden, Oxford, Victoria: Blackwell Publishing (2004). (PDF version linked here.)
Key essays:
“The Struggle for Reason in Africa” by Mogobe Ramose in The African Philosophy Reader eds. P.H. Coestzee & A.P.J. Roux
“Appeal,” David Walker
“What to the Slave is the 4th of July?”, Frederick Douglass
“Ain’t I a Woman?”, Sojourner Truth
“The Black Woman’s role in the Community of Slaves,” Angela Davis
The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B. DuBois (first chapter esp.)
“A Problem of Biography in African Thought” & “What Does It Mean to Be a Problem?” by Lewis Gordon in Existentia Africana
“Racism and Feminism,” by bell hooks in the PDF linked here
“Recognizing Racism in the Era of Neoliberalism,” Angela Davis
“Nonviolence and Racial Justice,” Martin Luther King, Jr.
“The Ballot or the Bullet,” Malcolm X
“The Uses of Anger: Women Responding to Racism,” Audre Lorde
“Whiteness as Property,” Cheryl Harris
Important contemporary black philosophers:
Cornel West (political philosophy, philosophy of religion, ethics, race, democracy, liberation theology)
Angela Davis (also a writer and social activist & just a general badass, really worth knowing about regardless of whether or not you have an interest in philosophy)
bell hooks (race, capitalism, sexuality & gender through a postmodern perspective)
Lewis Gordon (Africana philosophy, black existentialism, phenomenology)
Kwame Anthony Appiah (probabilistic semantics, political theory, moral theory, intellectual history, race and identity theory)
Patricia Hill Collins (sociology of knowledge, race, class, gender studies)
John H. McWhorter (linguistics)
George Yancy (Critical philosophy of race, critical whiteness studies, African philosophy, philosophy of the body)
Kwassi Wiredu (African philosophy)
Franz Fanon (20th century Marxism, psychoanalysis, colonialism)
