Ooooh hey I'm reblogging this because I'm not doing too well mentally right now (the stress from my job might take me at literally any moment!!! COOL). Allow me to get sappy on main for a hot minute. Cuz this is the Post That Started It All.

So I originally started this blog just to hype myself up for Veilguard. I didn't really interact with the fandom cuz I'm a fairly shy person. I didn't plan on interacting with anyone at all. Just looking at posts, art, fics, etc. and lurking.

But the more hyped I got for the game, the more I thought - you know what, maybe I'll just put myself out there. And putting yourself out there is scary!!

Eventually I made this post about Rook and Lucanis slowly falling in love over the course the game through stories, because I've always loved stories. I had a big book of bedtime stories from around the world that was given to me as a child (which I no longer have and that makes me SO sad). So, writing two of my favourite characters into a story where they fall in love over something really special to me was a real treat. But I was really nervous to do it. And I even put in the tags of this post something like 'my writing ability is trash so i'll settle for explaining it this way'. Then I put out a poll and there was interest and so I thought, you know what, I'll try my best. I've tried to write DA fics in the past, but deleted everything because I hated it and never ended up posting anything publicly. This would be my first, idk, real fanfic series?

So then I just started writing. Wouldn't you believe it I wrote the first chapter of this series in one night, in one sitting. No first draft. No revisions. I just went with it and it felt right! I didn't hate my writing for the first time in my life! And then I kept going, and you all were so kind in your feedback. Every time someone liked, reblogged, commented, I was sitting in my room gushing! Ofc I write for my own enjoyment, and because I love Rookanis, but it was so nice to see others as passionate about this ship as I am! And as I kept going the ship got more and more special to me (even more than it already was!). And the stories got more and more special!

These two blorbos (I hope im using that term correctly) mean so much to me!! Everyone's kind words mean so much to me!!

Ig what I'm trying to say is thank u for the support. Whether it's my art (which I was also terrified to post), my fanfic, or just listening to my ramblings on this blog.

Thanks for giving me an outlet from my high stress high burnout career.

Rookanis Headcanon Time

Lucanis knows Madeleina likes telling stories. He has trouble sleeping, and wonders if a story could help. Mads is happy to oblige. She starts telling him a new one every night a la '1001 Nights' style. I imagine some of these could be Thedas-ified versions of fairytales from our world.

Night one is about a girl named Cinderella, who lived in Starkhaven a long time ago, under the rule of her abusive stepmother and stepsisters. The prince of Starkhaven is throwing a ball and she desperately wants to attend, but cannot because of her family. A spirit of compassion uses its magic to allow her to do so, casting a spell that would prevent her from being recognized.

Night two may be a story like Hansel and Gretel, two children from Ferelden who go looking for food amidst a particularly difficult winter only to encounter a Witch of the Wilds. A bedtime story and a deterrent for young children who want to go exploring in the woods.

Night three is based off 'The Shoes that Were Danced to Pieces' or 'The 12 Dancing Princesses' from Orlais. The 12 dancing princesses had actually been enchanted by a desire demon into dancing their nights away until they all became mad.

Night four is based off of 'The Nutcracker', this time from Nevarra. The spirit of a prince becomes trapped in a doll. It is given to a young girl named Clara as a gift for Satinalia. She begins speaking to it and dreams of an epic battle with the doll/Prince against a demon in the Fade. Eventually, the spirit is exorcised from the doll by a passing Necromancer.

And so on and so forth.

Every night is a new story until he can finally have one long stretch of uninterrupted sleep. Rook is so excited that he's finally getting some rest that she can't sleep for the rest of the night.

I am distinctly not the friend. I like Robbie, hes fun. Although i was curious myself once you said you had reasons hdjdndm

My reasons for liking Robbie are pretty much because hes not canon. Free real estate /hj

So one design wise hes really cute and he uses my favorite colour as a pallet. His design is so distinctly different from the other egos who all look relatively like people and he has different coloured skin and different coloured hair, which just gives him a level of individuality the others don't really have.

In terms of other reasons the fact that he is not cannon is a huge contender for why I love him so much. As a character he can be anyway you want, anywhere you want, with any origin story or character trait that you want, in any relationships that you want! No matter what happens in the cannon universe or what head cannons and takes the whole community is arguing over with different interpretations of these characters, Robbie will forever be up to the author's interpretation. He can be agressive and emo and dark like the versions that @d-structive or @sambloom have, he can be cute and fluffy and clueless like robbie im @leobashi and myselfs versions. He can be a mix of both as seen in the art of him by @tracobuttons, there are endles possibilities of how to view this character and there is no wrong and right version. His not being cannon means that there is no way to do his character correctly, and he can be switched up and changed and played with to the artist/authors content!

The baseline premise of this character is also incredibly interesting with him being undead. The other egos have interesting premises but Robbie pretty much requires a made up origin story to function in this world as an undead character. Which means for every version of him that exists someone has delved into their mind and constructed a little origin story for him no matter how wacky or complicated it is everyone has a different version. He inspires people to create their own stories and their own versions of him as a character more than any other ego does. You will always have a baseline of cannon with all of the others but not with Robbie because he has no cannon so you have to make one for him which pushes people to create stories. And because people like to create original stories, most of the origins for Robbie tend to be very different and it's fun to read the different versions and interpretations people have had! it really does show our communities creativity and love for storytelling and lore building. He is a constant reminder of our communities creativity being a character and have walked in many different ways throughout the years and will continue to do so. A walking reminder of how much our wonderful community loves and cherishes artistic interpretations and storytelling.

Last of all, I just think hes pretty neat! I love him, hes my little blorbo, my little skrunkly wunkly, and because sean didnt create him, out community together did, and i made my own interpretation of him, in a way, he's mine, all mine. For me, he has been my favourite ego for years and reminds me of how long and wonderful my journey in this community has been. My online sona is based off of robbie, the pseudonym i use online is robbie, i draw lots of robbie content! I want more Robbie the zombie apreciation please, i never see enough of him anywhere anymore and it breaks my little zombie borbo loving heart.

Your Scoff. My Scout. CANE FIGHT. Deadeye and Innovator are facepalming x4 combo in the background. Demo is asking Brawler if there's a fourth cane user around because he wants to canefight too. Scout probably loses, not because Scoff has shadow magic but because Scoff's got one bad knee and Scout's got both.

3. Am I taking it correctly that in your mobswitch TS are "still" Prospitians and MC are still Dersites? Yay!!!!!!!!!! (If I'm being mistaken please don't think I'm fuck I can't pick a good word let's say judging for now you for it)

That would be great and accurate, Delinquent might simply try to remove a cane-shaped object from the ground and use that instead, making the fight much higher stakes if one is bludgeoned with half a lamppost lmaoo. Scoff walks with and without his cane often but usually carries it as an accessory when he isn't, it would be better for his overall health if he used it all the time, but he obviously can't walk on it when he's currently hitting people with it, and sometimes goes without for appearances sake or convenience- he's very worried about appearances and sometimes worries he'll be seen as weaker for walking with the cane, but the concern is kinda misplaced considering he can just like. beat someone to death with it if they don't take him seriously. But hes so anxious about it that even that logic doesn't help

Yes!!!! I think some people make them switch planets, which seems.... weird to me. Lik it feels kind of unnecessary and arbitrary to me, and I think it's a lot more interesting to figure out how slight changes of events would have drastically changed their personal trajectories than to just. Make a change like that. I also personally think its a bit flattening, like Prospitan good guys and Dersite bad guys. That's just not the case, definitely if you consider WV, AR, and PM, who are all of similar alignment and come from different planets. I also just like exploring how Prospit isn't all that great after all- for example, I don't think they take prisoners of war- it's usually interrogations followed by executions. Which makes sense to me from a gameplay standpoint- If your comrade as a player is captured by the enemy, it would feel unfair if they just killed them immediately- you should get a chance to rescue them. But the bad guys don't need to be afforded such a luxury- you get the information out of the spies you catch, and then get rid of them. It may seem to players that this means prison, but behind the scenes I think Prospitans can be fairly ruthless as a war force, because they're so serious about helping the players and ensuring the frog's creation, while i think Derse kind of knows the field of play is unequal, and has a slightly looser strictness in terms of allowing silly bullshit all the way up the chain. They play the villains, and definitely know it, so they have a bit of fun with it. Prospitans play to *win*, which is one reason why they'd take horrorterrors so seriously as a risk that cannot be allowed to propagate on their planet, y'know? I really like exploring Derse and Prospit in general, mobswitch is a fun way to do that, my Innovator and Scoff especially have some stuff from there that haunts them. tldr i think the Prospit/Derse switch is arbitrary and misplaced, maybe theres a way to do it well but its just not my style to make decisions like that for no substantial reason this response is a little long and im sorry for that but i really appreciate the chance to talk more about these guys! I made another post with more fun facts about Scoff here also in case you wanted to peep the horror, i super appreciate your ask and hope this isnt too long to read
