Council members in #Minneapolis plan to disband the city’s #policedepartment. A ‘veto-proof’ majority of councilors declared an intent to ‘#dismantle’ and ‘abolish’ the #MPD and replace it with an alternative community-led safety model. Nine of the 12 council members expressed support for the move, meaning mayor #JacobFrey, who opposes the move, cannot #veto the plan. The move could also be a blow to #BobKroll, the notoriously change-resistant leader of the Minneapolis #policeUnion.
