I do have a bunch of other ships for her but the whole point of the frogicule originally was to scoop up the normcore relationships and commit to them all because it amused me that the game gave us so many romance options and no romance side plots to pick from so they're all kinda nebulously canon and I love when you can just assemble a whole polycule out of narrative ambiguity. So like, her relationship with G'raha or Aymeric or Y'shtola is exactly what you might expect if you lean in to shippy things those guys say to the WoL XD

Erenville is a little indulgence because he suits Frog as herself and not the WoL so writing them is very fun and unique and has its whole story arc to talk about that only happened to Frog and no one else unless there's another very lucky Frog-themed WoL out there who's been fighting him for a couple of years :')

Dionysus may have more connections to Prometheus than at first glance

One of Dionysus’ lines, “what’s [Prometheus] gonna do, cook our meat?”, is likely a direct reference to a line from the play, The Birds, by the comic poet Aristophanes. Prometheus is featured in the play, and the main character tells Prometheus “I know we’re not supposed to like you, but thank you for giving us fire for cooking meat”, to which Prometheus says “I hate Gods”

Oh cool. A possible reference to a real play, nice.

But get this-! Remember how Dionysus saw Frinos and goes “I hope that frog doesn’t sing” as a reference to Aristophanes’ The Frogs? The time Dionysus went to the Underworld to resurrect a poet?

Well that poet was Aeschylus. Writer of Prometheus Bound.

And get this. It was said Aeschylus became a tragic poet because Dionysus showed up to him in his dreams and told him to write tragedies.

Meaning it’s very likely that it was Dionysus himself made sure Prometheus Bound got written. THE play that is the reason Prometheus is remembered fondly as a hero rather than a traitor.

Then there’s the Aesop legend where Dionysus got Prometheus drunk on nectar before work and that’s how Prometheus accidentally made queer people, but I choose not to regard it since it’s clearly for giggles— how is Dionysus there if there are no mortals yet and he’s half mortal? Anyway.

Of course Dionysus wants to invite Prometheus to his feast. Dionysus is probably Prometheus’ biggest fan 😂

I decided early on that Frog should trust Aymeric more than I did because she had no reason to be wary of character archetypes in fiction :P I think realising he was a genuinely good guy when he reacts to the news brought back from the road trip about Ishgard's history made me certain he was safe to like at all, and meanwhile was more than enough stubborn goodness to make Frog wildly admire him and be her moment to realise some feelings :') It was through him in post-HW patches I realised that they were even setting up characters as genuinely self-shippable with full narrative permission so that's when I retcon back all the feelings I wasn't sure I was supposed to be allowing Frog to have for him and others.

(like what do you mean the warrior of light is a whole complete character you can play with vast types of choices... I only know world of warcraft XD)

I can't decide if the biggest void is timewise the long-term crush on Y'shtola Frog has since first seeing her and my uncertainty if I felt Y'shtola was available for shipping or not (early days when I didn't know you didn't need to ask for permission :P) so I only hesitantly came around to it and made it Frog canon pretty much after I'd finished Shadowbringers and had some time to reflect and start seeking out fandom and thinking about how WoL fandom worked.

Or of course the deepest void between me instantly falling for Erenville from the hand-in of the marmot quest, and ten minutes later when I realised Frog would never be able to live down the Toad Incident and my new favourite character was her worst enemy... She's only just realising she might like him NOW.
