PYP BONUS SEASON: Problematic Femslash Ship Tournament!
the bracket is too big to grab a screencap of it, but we'll add polls to this post as they are posted!
no particular "right" way to vote—you can vote for your faves, whatever looks the "most problematic" to you, or just click randomly!
the following will not be accepted and may result in a block:
harassment of people who ship or vote for the opponent of the ship you're rooting for.
excessively volatile comments towards the shippers of the opponent of your ship. (anti-propaganda is allowed, though, if it's targeted at the ship itself. "imo a/b is a stupid ship" is ok. "everyone who ships a/b is stupid" is not.)
general "anti-ship" sentiment—in this context, this doesn't refer to just being against a ship (that would be fine), but certain practices of moralizing over ships. for example, you'll be blocked if you suggest one ship is "morally wrong" to ship and encourage voting for the other based on this, or leaving any comments suggesting people who like a certain ship are a "bad person" for liking it. (it's fine if you vote based on the other ship being "too problematic" for your own liking, so long as you recognize this is a matter of your own personal tastes.)
no bigotry in the notes please. ways this could happen in the tournament may include acting like anime is a "lesser form of art" than western works, for instance
we will not change our blog theme based on the winner of this tournament, as this is a bonus tournament.
seeding is based vaguely on popularity, but somewhat random
submissions for future femslash ship tournaments go here!
submissions of yuri series for our main tournament go here! this is not for ships. the link above this one is for ships

X7 Acts 1-3 Summaries transcription
note: all things i am uncertain about are now in italicised square brackets bc they were bothering me
I encourage everyone to look at the screenshots or video themselves to see if they can read something themselves more accurately than I have. (Video has been removed via copyright strike from ZA/UM, however drive links are available.)

Act 1 - The Murder
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary
Size: Small Playtime: ~1 hour Energy: High Emotional tone: Panic & Survival 30% Talking; 70% Action 30% Comedy; 70% Darkness
"The first Act introduces Locust City's protagonists, Cuno and Cunoesse. The game starts inside Cuno's subconsciousness, in the special Locust Dream sequence, from which he is violently awakened by his father's abuse. We find Cuno in his living room at the Capeside Apartments, where he must fight to survive Beast de Ruyter's violent rage. Brought to near death by his father's overpowering strength, Cuno is rescued by the [pursuing?] Cunoesse, but their escape attempt is thwarted by the Beast's relentless pursuit. Finally, the children are cornered into brutally murdering Cuno's father on the Capeside boat dock. The act is witnessed by the [urgent?] Call Me Mañana, frightening the children into fleeing Martinaise for good. Cunoesse sets the destination: Hämärä Maa, her ancestral land, thus setting the events of the game in motion. Lastly, before moving on, the player needs to go back and explore Cuno's apartment to collect a few key items before setting off on their journey. (See the Miro board for a detailed overview and storyboard.)"
Player experience
Immediate parallel to Disco with the interior psychological opening of the Locust Dream
The extensive multi-phase animation-driven action sequence between the kids and Cuno's father should give the impression of an ambitious technological upgrade over Disco
Kicking off the game with a refreshingly faster, more higher-stakes pace, establishing the tonal difference of the story
The opening Act is necessarily linear in its major outcomes (Beast is murdered, murder is witnessed, kids flee Martinaise) but on a smaller scale, the Player and the roll of their dice can influence the way in which the Beast dies, as well as the inventory, Health and injuries the kids walk away with.
The more curious Player should understand through environmental storytelling and reading between the lines that the Martinaise strike is still ongoing. Streets are barricaded, and Mañana is still an agent of the Union. The kids might not understand it, but on some level (for any subsequent playthroughs) the Player should understand that Mañana doesn't truly intend to report the children to the cops, he merely wants to get them out of Martinaise because they've witnessed him where he shouldn't be.
The Player will internalise some of the key gameplay mechanics, character [switching], and refreshed Skill, Inventory, Consumable and Thought Cabinet systems.
Act 2 - The Escape
Tumblr media
Summary
Size: Medium Playtime: ~2 hours Energy: Medium Emotional tone: Impatience & Paranoia 70% Talking; 30% Action 50% Comedy; 50% Darkness
Themes (top to bottom, left to right): BLUE: Being in transit; Clocks ticking; Neither here nor there; Maps, networks; Wanting to leave, not being able to; Running from your past; People who live in between places [The in-between economy] -> (Yellow) Beggars, homeless PINK: The "strong" vs. the weak; Cushioned childhood vs. street childhood; Loss of childhood naïvete GREEN: Guilt; Paranoia; Looking over your shoulder; Being bound in blood; Depending on each other
"The Second Act finds the children arriving at Jamrock Central station, having walked all the way from Martinaise. It is 07:30 in the morning, and Cunoesse insists they must board the 14:44 train to June Cite. Time at the station is limited, and there are several progression paths through the area. If the kids can obtain two train tickets, they can board legally, or otherwise smuggle one another in a pet carrier, potentially create a diversion (?) or, if all else fails, leap aboard the departing train, likely losing health, inventory supplies, etc. During their time at the Station, the kids notice they are being followed by Petit Hercule, an impressionable little schoolboy whose naïve nature can be put to good use in stealing one ticket. In the process, it becomes clear that the kid is traveling unsupervised and has one ticket already on him, resulting in Cunoesse urging you to lure him into the men's room and try to mug him, testing your conscience and the power balance between Cuno and Cunoesse. Otherwise, the kids can take up the advice of the Beggar King and begin the painstakingly slow process of scraping together barely enough coins to buy one ticket, thereby receiving an introduction into the game economy system."
Player experience
Being thrust into the bustling train station following the gruesome murder should leave the player feeling like a fugitive on the run trapped in limbo, eager to depart but forced to pretend everything is normal.
The indifferent reality of the train station will provide a contrast to the post-murder emptiness, a reminder that the world is still moving in its tracks. The clocks are still chiming. People are drinking coffee. It's almost insulting. Don't they know someone's world has just come crashing down?
Time at the station is limited to mere hours, adding to the sense of impatience and pressure to move on, so that the player would not lose momentum after the high-action opening Act and fall into a slump. They are still not safe -- this is no time to relax.
This Act will challenge the Player's problem-solving abilities, as finding all the ways to gain passage aboard he train will require speaking to a variety of characters and following up on several strategies.
This Act will also put the Player's motivations at odds with their conscience, presenting them with a layered and difficult choice between Little Hercule and Cunoesse. This confrontation sets up Cunoesse's frightening, manipulative nature.
The Player will be introduced to Co-operative Checks, the game economy, the map(s), and receive a greater variety of items and consumables to experiment with.
Act 3 - The Journey
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary
Size: Large Playtime: ~3 hrs Energy: Low Emotional tone: Mundanity & Temporary Relief 90% Talking; 10% Action 80% Comedy; 20% Darkness
Themes (anything I can read): PINK: Social contrast BLUE: [Deception?] -> Trip as Peter Pan -> Never growing up
"The third Act, entirely aboard the Azure Sans-Détour train line, represents a breather in the tension and a break in the overall darkness. Whether they like it or not, Cuno and Cunoesse have no other option but to stay on this fast-traveling metal tube for three entire days before they've reached their destination, so they might as well make the most of it. The key character of Trip the Train Conductor will serve to induct them into the ephemeral but vibrant social microcosmos of the train, a temporary society on wheels. This is the Act where we have the opportunity to introduce the largest social spectrum of characters, involving the petit bourgeois hops entrepeneurs Vincent & Agnes, wrapped up in a (consensual) love triangle with Trip, as well as other train staff and passengers from social groups Cuno and Cunoesse have never had the chance to interact with before, such as a scientist.(?) This Act will contain another Locust Dream sequence, as well as one-off sequences like the Ghost Station, the Biggest Meal, and Two Kids in a Trenchcoat. The catch of the train journey however, which Cunoesse doesn't tell you until you've already boarded, is that the place where you need to get off the train is actually in between two stations. For this, you're going to have to do Trip's bidding in order to have him pull the emergency brakes on the third day to let you off, or you might have to risk jumping off the moving train to move to the next Act."
Player experience
Here we want the Player to relax a little bit and indulge in Cuno & Cunoesse's mischievous and comedic side. The Train is removed enough from both the immediate stress of the murder and from the impending dread of arriving at Hämärä Maa that it is able to have a more lighthearted tone than the rest of the game.
The Player should feel as though they are really covering ground on their journey, as evidenced by the daily changes to the Train map and the dynamic scrolling background.
The characters the Player gets to interact with on the Train can be very thematically diverse and unconnected by background or life experience, joined only by this shared journey. These characters can deliver all kinds of stories from all corners of the game world, expanding on Elysium worldbuilding and lore.
The Man from Jamrock Station throughline will present the players with a parallel plot which bridges the seemingly unconnected locations of Acts 2, 3 and 4.
The Player should have the freedom to decide how they will navigate the special puzzles of the Train, affecting the fate of Trip and his love affair.
The location itself should provide enough exploration incentives to keep the limited train space feeling fresh, including gaining access to various cars and compartments, new Orbs and situations appearing every day, and people and luggage changing location daily.

Blooming Family Part 1 - He Will Come
Pairing: Yautja x Fem!Reader Summary: You were caught three days after you and your son's arrival on earth by an organization called Project Stargazer. Now you both were treated like guinea pigs. No wonder, considering said son was a hybrid of human and Yautja. Cross-posted on AO3: here Warnings: English isn't my first language Word Count: 4,224 Masterlist
⇨ This is based on the scene in the lab where the sedated Yautja-human hybrid is being held captive (movie: "The Predator", 2018). The plot before and after this scene has nothing to do with the fanfic. Either way, I barely remember the movie. I just used the scene for my own scenario.

You had been stupid, so stupid. You should have listened to Mi'ytiar, should have listened to him when he told you to stay on the ship during your stay on Earth while your son went hunting. You had insisted on coming with him, as you desperately wanted to see your home planet again.
Not that you missed it. You loved Mi'ytiar, loved to be his mate, loved your life with him and your son on Yautja Prime.
You had just wanted to leave the ship to get some fresh air and see the full moon, which you couldn't see in your new home, when you suddenly were surrounded by soldiers. You didn't even think about defending yourself, not in your condition. You had let it happen when they grabbed you and put you roughly in one of the black SUVs.
So many questions swirled around in your mind — how did they find you? What about the ship? What did they want with you? Would they hurt you? And what about Akail? Was he hurt?
You hadn't dared to ask the armed men who were in the car with you. They all had looked at you with different emotions on their faces — disgust, curiosity, anger. One of them wore a grin that made your skin crawl.
When they arrived at their base, you were dragged through many corridors and were examined by — and you thanked God for that — female doctors. They took your blood, forced you into a strange white suit, and put you into a sterile room.
Now you sat in a corner, huddled together. The door was in the middle of the wall on the other side of the room. A camera hung in the corner across from you from the ceiling and had an overview of the entire room. It reminded you of an interrogation room with windows to the left and right of the door, which looked like a mirror from the inside but allowed a glimpse into the room from the outside, and a table and two chairs standing in the middle.
You had pulled your legs to your chest as much as your swollen belly would allow and leaned your head sideways against the wall.
It's gonna be okay, you thought to yourself. Everything is going to be fine.
You didn't know if you were trying to calm yourself down or your pup who could sense your agitation and responded to you with kicking. You sat up straight in a cross-legged position, wrapped your arms protectively around your belly, and caressed it soothingly.
Don't worry, little one. We'll be home soon. Your daddy will come and get us out of here. You have no idea how eager we are to meet you.
Not far from you, Sean Keyes greeted Casey Bracket.
"There you are!" He said as soon as Casey stepped out of the elevator. "Welcome, I–"
Before he could continue, Casey walked straight past him to look at the two metal helmets and something that looked like a gun, everything displayed behind thick glass. None of it was human.
"Alien technology." She stated in disbelief. "Is that what you wanted me to see?" Casey's eyes wandered to the other showcases that displayed even more weapons and equipment. "Can I take a better look at it?"
"Ahh." Sean laughed, "But you haven't even seen the main attraction."
Casey tore her gaze from an interesting-looking spear engraved with intriguing carvings and looked up at Sean. He had climbed the few steps that led to a glass wall overlooking a mix of operating room and laboratory, and gestured with his head for her to follow him.
Quickly joining him, they both looked down and into the room. It was occupied by many people who, from their appearance, were scientists. There were guards, eight in total, guarding all four doors. Screens hung on the walls and desks carried computers and strange gadgets.
The only thing that got Casey's complete attention was the table in the middle of the room and especially what was on it.
"Doctor Bracket."
Casey looked away from the creature and at the man who had spoken to her.
"Would you like to meet the Predator?"
Yes, that's exactly what she wanted.
Still processing what she had just seen, she followed Sean Keyes into the decontamination chamber. She was given a suit that looked similar to the ones the scientists were wearing in the laboratory. The decontamination process didn't take long and she quickly slipped into the suit.
"Thanks for coming." The dark-skinned man, Will Traeger, said to Casey as soon as the lab door opened and shook her hand. "I'm sure you have questions."
"If I'm honest, only two." Casey answered and followed the man down the stairs. "Why do you call it the Predator?"
They came to a halt in front of the table the creature was lying on.
"It's a nickname. You know, the data suggests that it tracks its prey, exploits weakness. It seems to, well, enjoy it. It's like a game."
"That's not a Predator. That's a sports hunter."
"Sorry?"
"A Predator kills its prey to survive. I mean, what you're describing is more like a bass fisherman." Casey simply answered, taking a step closer to the table.
"Well, we took a vote. Predator sounds cooler, right?" Will laughed and received approval from the surrounding scientists. "We found him and his ship. He's heavily sedated."
Casey had long stopped listening to him. She was completely absorbed by the creature, or Predator, taking in every inch of it. The physique indicated that it was a male. His height had to be over 2 meters. He had greenish skin that resembled reptilian-like scales. Its head was big and oval in shape. Instead of hair, what appeared to be dreadlocks grew out of it. His mandibles were the most eye-catching feature about him.
Could they be used for defense? And how did the food intake work?
She noticed that even unconscious, he was making a sound that closely resembled a cat's purring.
"You are one beautiful motherfucker." She finally said.
"I'm gonna guess your second question is why you're here."
Casey looked up to Will and signaled him with a nod to continue.
"Our test results yielded something a little… odd."
Sean, standing next to Casey, handed her a device. She looked back and forth between the two men before accepting it. The screen showed a more complex DNA structure than that of a human, without a doubt that of the Predator.
"Is this a joke?" She questioned in disbelief.
"We ran the genome sequence ten times. This specimen has–"
"–human DNA." Casey finished stunned.
"Yeah." Will nodded, "Look, we know about spontaneous speciation. Mostly plants and insects but–"
"But some mammals. The Red Wolf, for example, a hybrid of the coyote and the grey wolf." Sean interrupted him this time.
"It's possibly some form of recombinant technology." Will added.
"I get it. You want to know if someone fucked an alien." Casey summed it up, finally knowing her purpose here.
"Not necessarily."
Casey looked questioningly at Will. "Meaning?"
"Meaning, we have a rough idea. We would just like to know the detailed procedure."
Casey's eyes widened and she looked at him in bewilderment. "You don't seriously expect a woman to procreate with that thing. There's no way that–"
"Oh, there is no need for that." Sean assured her, "Like I already mentioned earlier, we found his ship thanks to his equipment. But not only that."
He turned to the largest screen in the room and nodded to a man who started typing on his computer and turned the screen on. It showed some kind of interrogation room. It wasn't long before Casey spotted a woman sitting cross-legged on the floor, slowly rocking back and forth.
"Who is that?" She asked and inched closer to the screen in curiosity.
"His mother." Sean answered matter-of-factly, folding his hands behind his back.
Casey slowly looked from the screen over to the Predator, then back. "You're kidding me, right?"
"Not at all." Will chuckled. "His DNA matches with hers. Although the father's genetic heritage is more dominant than hers, you can still see differences between this one–" He nodded to the unconscious alien, "–and a homozygous Predator."
"Wow." Casey mumbled and returned her gaze to the screen.
The woman now walked in circles through the room, stroking — and the biologist had to do a double take — her growing stomach.
Holy hell, she was pregnant!
"Wow indeed. And not only that, but her human DNA has been altered to resemble that of the Predator."
"We believe it's a kind of adaptation to the living conditions of his home planet." Sean started, "According to the blood tests, and we did several because we didn't want to believe the results, this woman is over a hundred years old. We think she was born in the early 1900s, although she looks like she's in her mid-twenties."
Casey's mouth fell open, her heart pounding against her rib cage. "I want to meet her."
He nodded and smiled at her. "That was the plan. No one has spoken to her yet, not even the nurse who brought her food or was taking her to the bathroom."
"While science can answer many questions and give us great insight into our being, there are still things that remain unanswered." Will added, "We don't know when she left Earth or how it was possible for her to reproduce with an alien. We don't know how her DNA changed, and because of that, we don't even know who she really is."
Casey nodded. "And you want me to get the answers to those questions from her?"
"Indeed."
Casey was watching you through the one-way window. You were still pacing, one hand supporting your back and the other stroking your stomach in a circular motion. Even though you seemed nervous and scared, you also looked like a proud lioness ready to attack to protect her baby.
"Ready?" Sean asked.
Casey looked briefly at him and nodded.
"Great. We will wait here to watch and listen. In her condition, I doubt she will attempt anything for the sake of her child, but if she does it will only take a second, and security will rush the room."
"Good to know." She mumbled before heading to the door.
With a deep breath, she pushed down the door handle.
You caught that movement in the corner of your eye and turned to the intruder. "What have you done to him?!" You immediately demanded hysterically, growling at her like a wild animal. "Where did you take him? Where did you take my son?"
It was good that Casey was the first to speak to you. Probably no one out there had the slightest decency to treat you like a real person and would have strapped you to a table, too, careless of harm to you or your child.
"They took him to a lab and are holding him there. Nobody hurt him, I swear it." Casey said, raising her hands to show you she meant no harm. "They just want to know more about him and his kind and why he is here, that's all."
You stared at her, softly caressing your belly as you pondered her words.
When there was no reply, Casey continued, "I just want to talk to you. We want to know how you… why you…"
"Why I got knocked up by an alien?" You suggested bluntly.
Casey nodded. "Yes. It's practically unthinkable to come across an alien hybrid and its mother."
"Where I went after his father took me from earth, it's more of a rarity than unthinkable."
Casey took a step forward and hastily asked, "Do you mean you're not the only one? Are there other humans who procreate with them? Are they also studying hybrids and their traits?"
You laughed at her eagerness and walked over to the chair closest to you, sitting down on it. You waved your hand at Casey to do the same, as if you were hinting you were going to cooperate to answer her questions. The biologist glanced back over her shoulder at the reflective window where Sean and Will were watching the conversation. She sat down in the chair opposite of you and looked at you expectantly.
"Before I say another word, I want to see that my son is okay." You demanded, trying to suppress the tremor in your voice, the very first sign of weakness.
Casey turned back to the windows and waited for someone to come through the door. Instead, the reflective surfaces of the windows turned into screens showing one and the same image — the captured Predator, still tied to the table and asleep.
There was a whimper coming from behind her. When she turned back, she saw tears building up in your eyes and one hand pressed to your mouth. It was surreal to Casey for a human to have such an emotional reaction to an alien creature. On the other hand, this was his mother, unbelievable and absurd as it may seem.
You seemed to calm down, your eyes still fixed on the screen. You nodded to yourself before tearing your eyes away to look at Casey. The windows had returned to their normal state.
"We're going to start with some easy questions, okay?"
You nodded again.
"Great. First, I would like to know your name."
“(Y/N) (L/N).” You answered.
"Would it be okay if I call you (Y/N)?"
"I would appreciate it." You said, "It's a nice change from all the other names I've gotten so far."
"What do you mean?" Casey inquired.
"Alien fucker. Alien whore. Desperate little bitch who thought a man's dick isn't enough for her. Nothing I didn't expect from men." You shrugged, "It just proves once again that Yautja males treat their females with far more respect and honor than a human male could ever comprehend."
"Yautja?" Casey asked, leaning forward, arms crossed on the tabletop.
"You call them Predator, but their kind is actually called Yautja." You explained.
Casey nodded and started to play with her fingers, her next question burning on her tongue. "How did you get into this whole thing? How did you get in contact with them?"
You huffed. "It's quite ironic, you know. On the contrary what you may have expected, he saved me."
"Saved you from what?"
"Again, men. Four of them. They had followed me into an alley and tried to…" You had to pause for a second.
Almost 90 years ago, you had been afraid when Mi'ytiar had taken you from Earth to bring you to Yautja Prime. But looking back, that fear hadn't been as great as what you had felt at the thought of what those men would have done to you if he hadn't intervened.
"He protected me from those monsters… my own kind." You let out a humorless laugh. "Yautja take their prey as a trophy after each successful hunt, you know. Not only did he rip their heads off and their spines out, but he also took me. I expected him to hurt me, to keep me as a slave, or… or to do what these men wanted to do to me that day in that alley. I found out later that I was really lucky that he, of all other Yautja, rescued me. It's incredibly rare that one of them takes an interest in a human being. Usually, they kill every last of them. Humans are too weak and too soft, but that's exactly what he loves about me. That's why he kept me alive."
You let out a sigh, considering how much you should reveal about the Yautja culture.
"On the contrary to me, a Yautja female is rough and large, even larger than a male. After all, they are the ones who carry their offspring and ensure the survival of their kind. The males have to fight for dominance, and if the male wins, the female deems him worthy enough to mate and submits to him."
Casey shifted in her seat. "Did you… did he expect the same from you? Did he force you into submission to…?"
"Never." You growled protectively, "He never forced himself onto me. Never. He was more patient and understanding than all the human males I ever met in my life. He treated me like I was the most precious thing he had ever seen. Never did he touch me without my permission."
"Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend you." Casey soothed you.
She had to be more careful and had to see this whole situation through your eyes — you were separated from your son and held at a facility that was examining you both while you had to worry about your unborn baby.
"Do you want to tell me about your relationship with him? Your, uhm…"
"He is my mate. My Life Mate."
"Life Mate?"
"Female Yautja can mate with multiple males and give birth to their children, but some also choose a permanent mate. You could compare it to one-night stands and marriage, only you can't divorce. It's not called Life Mate for nothing. You are bonded to each other for the rest of your life and they live for hundreds of years."
"Can I know the name of your Life Mate?"
You eyed Casey briefly, looked over her shoulder at the reflective windows, then at the camera in the corner, and then back at her. "His name is Mi'ytiar. He is the leader of his clan."
Casey sat up straight. "They live in clans? Like wolves in packs or horses in herds?"
You nodded. "With similar hierarchy dynamics, yes. There are many clans on their home planet, each living peacefully on their own. Sometimes clans visit each other, hunt together, celebrate together. That's how I found out that I'm not the only human on this planet." You said, "But apparently, I'm the only one who mated a clan leader. Most of them are expected to have a strong successor to take after them and Mi'ytiar, of all Yautja, ended up with a weak little human to bear his pups."
Jackpot, Casey thought.
She finally got to the part that intrigued her the most — how was it humanly possible that you got pregnant, how was it possible for you to carry the child of an alien, and how did it not kill you?
"Since Mi'ytiar has fully committed himself to me, it was up to me to bear his offspring. The Yautja of his clan never dared to say anything. I'm the clan leader's mate, after all. But I noticed it in the way they treated me and looked at me. They knew it wasn't possible for me to carry his children."
You looked down at your baby bump and returned to caress it. It seemed to keep you calm.
"At that point, that fact made me really upset. I got to know their culture and learned everything there was to know about them. I even started learning their language. I fulfill any task assigned to a clan leader's mate. I make my mate happy and proud. But I couldn't give him a child."
You looked up and into Casey's eyes.
"Mi'ytiar is very attentive and he soon noticed that something was upsetting me. Apparently, he was the only one who hadn't thought about his offspring at all." You paused for a second to smile, remembering his reaction when he found out that you wanted to carry his pups. "The second he knew he wanted to keep me around when he took me away from Earth, he injected me with his blood. No matter how many times I've been called fragile and puny, the human immune system can sometimes work wonders. His blood had slowed down my aging and allowed me to survive on his planet. So we visited a healer to finalize my life as his Life Mate."
Your cheeks flushed as you thought of how Mi'ytiar hadn't hesitated to drag you home and how you both had spent several days in your bed, or nest as he called it. There had been hardly a moment when he wasn't inside you. The image of his beautiful mate, his love, carrying his pup in her belly had made him feral.
It hadn't been long before his seed took. The other Yautja had a surprised but satisfied reaction when they saw that their leader was about to become a father. That's when they finally started to treat you like a part of the clan. You had fully proved yourself, proved you could provide for the clan. You were finally one of them.
Akail's birth was hard. It felt like he was tearing you apart from the inside out. But thanks to the injections of Mi'ytiar's blood and the additional help of the tribal healer, your body strengthened enough that you didn't die, even though it felt like it. You were crying and smiling with your mate at your side, holding your little bundle of joy in your arms.
He looked just like his father, no indication that his mother was human. However, his animalistic features were a little softer, difficult to recognize unless you were the mother. While you were being tended to, Mi'ytiar took his son in his arms to proudly introduce him to his clan.
Fondly, you thought back to one moment, a core memory — Mi'ytiar, lying on his side with you snuggled against him, both naked and partly covered in fur, and little Akail, just ten hours old, resting on your chest. At that point, you were so incredibly happy.
It sounded weird and absurd that this was your life and no human could ever understand, but you would never trade it for anything in the world.
"What's the catch?" Casey asked after a while of watching you quietly stroking your belly.
"Huh?" You looked up.
"I don't think you're telling us all this without an ulterior motive. So what's the catch?"
"I want to quench your thirst for scientific knowledge and in return, I hope you will release my son and me. There is no need to keep us here if you get all your answers from me."
Casey started to shift back and forth in her chair. "I don't think that will be possible. There are still things that we–"
"Listen, I have cooperated in the hope you will let me and my son go if you have what you want. You won't like what will happen if we are not soon to be freed."
Casey glanced over her shoulder for what felt like the hundredth time, unsure of what to do or what to say.
"I promised him to contact him every day, you know. My mate." You said, pride permeating your body. "And do you know what it will tell him? The silence?" Your question was obviously rhetorical. "It will tell him that something happened to me and, therefore, also to his son because Akail would rather die fighting for his mother and his father knows that."
Casey gulped. The threat was clear as the day.
"He will come and not alone. Do you really think you stand a chance against them?" You laughed, now more confident. "The human nature is arrogant, thinking they are superior to everyone. Eventually, that will be the reason for your extinction. Your haughty stupidity will be the death of you."
"(Y/N)–" Casey tried, but she was interrupted.
"No, you will listen to me just like you've been doing for the last twenty minutes now. I have lived among them for decades, almost a century. I learned from them, I'm one of them. Stand between a Yautja and their Life Mate and it will end deadly for you. Stand between a Yautja and their Life Mate who's pregnant and I promise you, you will beg for them to kill you."
"(Y/N), there is nothing in my power to help you. I was simply summoned here as an expert to examine this Yautja, your son. I can't–"
"You will. And I'm not just talking to you in this case." Your eyes wandered from her face to the windows and you nodded to the people you assumed to be standing behind the glass, watching you. "I'm talking to them, the ones who have the power. Set me and my son free and I promise you nothing will happen to any of you."
Suddenly, a blaring alarm sounded, startling both Casey and you. Instinctively, you wrapped an arm around your stomach in a protective manner.
"Code Red. Subject Predator is on the loose."
A shuddering sigh of relief left your lips as you slowly began to smile. You knew they couldn't keep Akail immobilized for long.
One of the things he had in common with his father was that he was just as protective over you as he was. He would come to look for you.
Casey had already jumped out of her chair and was talking frantically to the people on the other side of the one-sided window.
You began to talk to your pup again, "Your mei'hswei is coming, sweetling. Soon, the three of us will be back with Daddy."

How to Write an Image Description: A Fundamental Guide.
[Plain Text: How to Write an Image Description: A Fundamental Guide. End PT]
General Guidelines:
[PT: General Guidelines. End PT]
Object, Action, Context
[PT: Object, action, context. End PT]
This is what you want to prioritize. What are we looking at, what is going on, and what is the surrounding environment?
Keep it simple and get to the point
[PT: Keep it simple and get to the point.]
Try to use short, clear sentences and prioritize what the reader needs to know in the context of the post. We don't need to know that the tweet was posted at 2:08AM or what color rings someone is wearing. That doesn't really provide useful information. If you really want to provide some relevant details, be sure you get to the main point of the image first.
Context is Important
[PT: Context is Important. End PT]
Why is the image posted there? What information does it lend to the content around it? Make sure the viewer knows what they need to know to understand how the image relates to the text and content partnered with it.
For a meme or a tweet screenshot, we don't need to know all the details or what the background looks like, we just need to understand the joke. For something like art or photography, you may want to include more details.
Don't Assume
[PT: Don't Assume. End PT]
Don't assume gender, race, and pronouns of the subject(s) of the image. If you can find this context in the post, on op's blog, or somewhere else you can include it, but try not to make baseless assumptions.
Alt Text vs Image Descriptions
[PT: Alt Text vs Image Descriptions. End PT]
Alt text is great for people using screen readers, but it isn't always the most accessible option. Alt text can be glitchy, the font size cannot be changed for those who need large text, and it doesn't show up at all until the image either loads or completely fails to load.
For this reason, a longer description in plain text in the body of the post is a more accessible option.
I suggest a short summary in the alt text so people can get the overview of an image and a longer description in the body of the post. For example, compare the image description and the alt text for the following image:
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A guide to writing alt text on images. At the top, it says "Writing Alt Text" in big white text. It then lists off five major steps to writing alt text. Identify who, expression, description, color, and interesting features. It then shows an image of a capybara, with a sample alt text that reads, "A capybara looking relaxed in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on top of the capybara's head." with each block of text color-coordinated to show which of the five steps it corresponds to. At the bottom of the image is the word "Puzzle" stylized into a logo. End ID.]
The Alt text provides the bare minimum of what you need to know to contextualize the image, while the ID expands on details that help to understand it and provides more details.
Formatting:
[PT: Formatting. End PT]
Try your best to use correct spelling and grammar, but transcribe accurately. Use clear language and concise sentences where possible. However: Don't censor words or correct spelling when transcribing something from the image. You want the description to be as accurate to the image as possible.
[PT: use correct spelling and grammar, but transcribe accurately. End PT]
Always use plain text. Never use formatting like bold, italics, other fonts/font sizes/text colors, or text in all caps. If they appear in the original image, transcribe it in plain text like this:
[Bold, underlined] Always use plain text. [End bold and underlines.]
Begin an ID with square brackets [[these]], followed by "ID:" or "Image:". End the description with "End ID" and a closed square bracket ] to signify the end of the descriptions.
Screenreaders and visually impaired people sometimes struggle with symbols and emojis. Transcribe these instead when possible!
[PT: Transcribe these instead when possible. End PT]
The image description should be directly after the image, before any post caption or commentary.
Never use a readmore! If you delete the post or change your url the description is gone forever. It also makes the ID harder to reach in general, which is not accessible.
[PT: Never use a readmore! End PT]
Make your post accessible from the start if you can. Don't post something without an ID then reblog it with a description so that people have a chance to spread the inaccessible version of the post if they "prefer" the one without the "clutter" of an ID. That's ableist. If you post something without a description then end up describing it later, edit the ID into the original post.
[PT: Make your post accessible from the start. End PT]
Resources:
[PT: Resources. End PT]
The People's Accessibility Discord Server: I will always suggest this server! It's full of people that can help write descriptions, give feedback on IDs you've written, answer questions about accessibility, and more!
Online OCR: Image(/PDF) to text converter! This is really helpful, especially for transcribing text in tweet screenshots, article excerpts, etc. You will still have to do a bit of work formatting and correcting things sometimes, but it's a really helpful tool
CaseConverter: Good for converting lots of text in all caps for plain text transcriptions.
Meme Image Descriptions: This google doc has descriptions of many common meme images and templates!
Some simple Image Description formats: tailored largely for replies and screenshots from social media.
WebAim: A whole website for web accessability!
Online Accessibility Masterpost focusing on image descriptions from tumblr user @anistarrose. This has a ton of good resources, reading, and tips!
Reading & Guidelines:
[PT: Reading & Guidelines. End PT]
Cooper Hewitt guidelines for image description: This focuses on describing art, but it's a fantastic resource. It gives a good description on the distinction between alt text and long descriptions and gives guidelines for each. It's a pretty concise and easily comprehensible read with a lot of good tips towards the end.
Medium's How to Write an Image Description: Concise and helpful. The origin of "object, action, context".
Diagram Center Guidelines for Image Description: I really suggest reading through this. It gives a much more comprehensive understanding of what is important when writing a description and has different sections for help describing all sorts of things like photos, art, comics, diagrams, charts, math, chemistry, and more! A longer read, but it has a lot of specifics.
Perkins School for the Blind how to write alt text and image descriptions: Another great resource! Concise and helpful, shorter than Diagram Center's articles.
SiteImprove's Alt Text Best Practices: Focuses on Alt text not long image descriptions
Last Call Media- Accessible Comics: Great info for describing comics!
American Anthropological Association's Guide for creating image descriptions: an additional resource on IDs just because
Some tips from Tumblr user @keplercryptids! I reiterated a lot of these points here, but it's still a very helpful post!
General guideline from @can-i-make-image-descriptions and @accessibleaesthetics
Alt Text and Image Description Guide by @brownandtrans
Huge list of blogs that post accessible content!
And another google doc of accessible blogs!
If this post was too much information to read and absorb all at once, I suggest reading the first two links as well as some of the last few links that lead to Tumblr posts.
[PT: If this post was too much information to read and absorb all at once, I suggest reading the first two links as well as some of the last few links that lead to Tumblr posts. End PT]
Those probably have the most concise and easily digestible information, so choose one of those. If I've said anything incorrect in this post, please let me know so I can correct it ASAP! Thanks so much for reading and happy describing!

Welcome to the everything bracket!
We are currently in preparation for contestant submission time.

The steps for this:
Submit categories
Sort the categories
Submit things per category
Run rounds for the sub-sub-sub-categories
Run rounds for the sub-sub-categories
Run rounds for the sub-categories
Run rounds for the main-categories
Run main-category winners
Season two planning
This is the current overview of categories and partially submited characters:
Please submit contestants here:
Fair warning, I will be keeping strictly to Tumblr guidelines, so while a true crime category is allowed, it is not allowed to discuss what things happened in it in more detail then "A murdered B" or "C was found in a chimney". This to avoid being striked down anywhere during this.

Starbound SMP NON-CANON/CRACKSHIP BRACKET
welcome to the non-canon/crackship starbound smp bracket!
What is the account about?
Well, this really started because I was talking about it as a joke. But fandom culture over the years has died. Horribly. So, I want to let people have fun and put their ships they have into a bracket for fun!
How do I submit a Ship?
Submitting a ship is easy, there is a form at the end of this post that you can fill out to submit a ship! The form will close next Friday (5/9/25) and the bracket overview should be ready a few days after
Rules for the bracket
- any ship is fine to be submitted, as long as it doesn’t break anyone’s boundaries. If there is any cast uncomfortable with ships, please let me know.
- Anything can be counted as non-canon or a crackship. It was joked about shipping Mi-go and her giant machine on art’s stream. Anything can count. Go wild. (Not the weird wild, don’t be like that)
- Both Queer platonic and Romantic relationships are welcome to be submitted
- Do not start arguing or harassing people about certain ships, this is made for fun. Don’t be an asshole.
Last but not a rule per say, interact with the polls all you want when they’re up! Reblog, share propaganda, go wild! This account is meant to be fun. If there are any issues with the form, or questions please ask using the ask box!

🌟🎉Keepblr Wrapped 2024 🎉🌟
thanks for your patience and contributions! i've tried my best to get a good overview, but if I've missed anything you feel crucial, please do add on :)
this year was quite eventful. here's a few highlights (not in order):
Fintan Pyren won Keeper sexyman for the second year in a row
Sal (worldsunlikemyown) created a script for the Enlightened language!
Shannon announced we'd have a 9.5 instead of book 10, to mixed reviews
Unraveled's cover was revealed, and everyone tore into it. Is Keefe actually attractive? The world may never know
Tam cam. featuring months of about 10,000 different fake blogs, detectives, and accusations--to the point it needed it's own separate tag
wiityispb won the best kotlc quote bracket!
we started translating wiityispb into several languages (Punjabi) (Arabic) (Nahuatl) (Hindi) (French) (there's more, too)
people started making bingo cards for Unraveled
a handful of people tried to get kotlc trending, absolutely flooding the tag and rendering it unusable for a day or two
Lavacake (marella x fitz), and the ship name arguments it started
Roisin (camelspit) hosted a skribbli.io session!
abscourse, the neverending debate about whether Keefe has abs (he shouldn't), which also dragged asscourse back to light (whether fintan pyren has a fat or flat ass (it's flat))
Lady Cadence won the 2024 Keeper Sexywoman bracket!
the Fairy Tale AU Exchange! featuring 54 lovely works you should peruse <3
a second event, the Keeper Big Bang 2024! find the works under the ao3 collection and by perusing the keeper big bang 2024 tag!
kotlc and keepblr's Fanlore pages are now being updated by Catherine! (everliving-everblaze)
there were also several themed weeks, such as Ancients Week and Tiertice Week 2024!
the infamous Anti-Keefe Rant by Stria (the-way-astray)
Hethen, Elwin x Gethen, which also sparked ship name arguments
we tormented @/do-you-ship-this-book-couple with a million kotlc ships
Fitz Vacker won the best keeper character 2024 bracket!
During said bracket, Quil (bookwyrminspiration) developed a severe, ongoing loathing for Watson the Dog, which people torment it about to this day
We got brand new official art by chrissabug!
like half the fandom was accused of being Katie (myfairkatiecat)
Roisin (camelspit) hosted another year of Roisin's Reading Rumble!
Strieefe, the pairing between Stria (the-way-astray) and her least favorite character, Keefe Sencen. Now with 21 (and counting) different fics, 8 artworks, and 2 songs!!
A few Unraveled scenes leaked, sending the fandom into a panic--half from the contents of the leak, half from the scramble to avoid said contents
Quil (bookwyrminspiration) drew krocs, which Fin (fintan-pyren) actually made
Unraveled, book 9.5, was officially published!! (Quil, bookwyrminspitation's, notes from the tour) with canonical queer characters!! the fandom took this very well.
They did not take the timeline well. There were many debates about when the series takes place given pop culture references in 9.5
Finally, we started transing several characters genders again! Notably, Laith Vacker
This brings 2024 to a close, leaving us all still riding the high (low?) of Unraveled. Jesus fuck, y'all. what a year. can't wait to do it again <3

Cosmere characters alphabet survey - results masterpost
Remember this survey? Do you want to see how many people boted for your blorbo, what jokes they have made? Well, you have three options.
Do you want to get a nice overview of all the letters? See the top three characters per letter and learn which extremely obvious one you forgot? Do you, perhaps, have a life and no time to scroll throught hundreds of characters in the complete statistics? Then go here. Enjoy!
Well, maybe you want a little more than that. Maybe you want to check out a perticular obscure character or just have this itch for seeing the complete picture? Fear not, as I have prepared this handy spredsheet for your enjoyment!
3. Oh? Still here? Did you actually read the post and know that there are three options? Well, I have to dissapoint you. The third option is so diabolical, so ginormous, so tedious that it makes you question what the author of this post could've done instead of compiling it (prepared for her final math test tomorrow, for example). The third option, my wonderful readers, is all the names for all the letters, in post form, with funny alternative spellings, all the jokes people have made, my snarky comments and more!
So, if even that desn't scare you away, go ahead, click "keep reading". But who could ever want to read such a thing, right?
Okay, I actually hope someone wants this, because if not, I am about to waste a lot of time.
So, a couple things first. I lied about every joke being recorded here. There are some joke responces that were inconvinient (basically, they are long) to put here, but they are getting their own post soon!
Opposite of each name you will see the number of people who voted for said name. Same goes for each letter (not everyone wrote for each letter, obviously). There were also three people who wrote different descriptions of a single character for each letter (these characters were Kelsier, Shallan and Hoid). So, don't be surprised to see wacky titles for these characters after some letters.
There will be funny alternative spellings in brackets after some names and jokes I found creative for certain letters.

Hey!! Really love your blog and do keep the Harry appreciation coming!
I apologise if this is a rather unusual question. Taking only the younger generation, more likely, the core six: Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna, Ginny, Neville (and you can include Draco as well if you like), who do you think would defeat the others in a duel at their maximum potential (say, end of 7th year, since we have less information on post-war years )?
Let me rephrase that: it's rather obvious it would be Harry. What I mean is, how do you think each duel would play out? For example, I imagine a duel like Harry and Neville would be over in a minute or a less, but for a duel between Ginny and Luna (who, for some reason, I always assumed would be on the same level, though i could be terribly wrong) would probably take up a fair amount of time. Or if we were to take Harry and Hermione, while Harry would definitely win, I imagine there would be a stretch where they were equally matched.
There are also two sides to consider: 1) looking at them only as their strengths irrespective of their relationships with the characters and 2) looking at them as their strengths along with their relationships with the characters (Harry not wanting to hurt them or going easy). You can consider both or any one, I will leave that upto you.
I'd love your opinion on Harry's duels with each of these characters and/if any other duels between other characters among the mentioned ones that you think could be interesting.
I totally understand if you choose not to answer this, it's a big question and my phrasing might be confusing. And there might not be enough textual evidence for other characters (who knows?), but if you could provide your insight, that would be great! Thank you!
Thank you! 😊
And, yeah, this question is a little long, but it's a really fun concept, and your phrasing was clear. At least, I hope I got it right, becouse what I got sounds fun.
Okay, so I'm gonna structure this like a bracket battle of sorts even though it isn't exactly what you asked. If I don't, this post will be way too long + a little repetitive. I tried to make sure the interesting duels were paired up in the first round or eventually. Now, the duels are going to run as if the characters don't care about each other and see the other as an enemy, with notes on how it'll go if they have the relationship they do in canon.
Who wins isn't all that interesting, I think, and there are some duels where it really depends on when/how/why the duel is happening. But I tried to give a quick overview of their duelling styles and how they would mesh up against each other.
Now, Harry is a hard person to duel, and all his duels in this list would end very quickly. Wizard duels, in general, are pretty short since you will cast to incapacitate if you are fighting an enemy. The duel we see between Voldemort and Dumbledore in OotP is an exception to dueling, not the norm. Something like it could only happen between two very skilled and very arrogant combatants, which isn't the case for most of the pairings here.
Also, these are a little subjective, and luck plays a part in dueling but will not really be accounted for here.
Without further ado, the brackets:
1. Ron VS Hermione
2. Harry VS Neville
3. Ginny VS Luna
4. Draco will duel against the winner of duel 3.
Round 1: Ron VS Hermione
As enemies:
Hermione has an edge when it comes to spell repertoire and casting precision — she is objectively the better witch.
But
Assuming they are fighting as enemies who don't know each other, Ron would go for the kill before her. Hermione's ruthlessness has a limit; she is unwilling to kill, but Ron is (Ron offered to kill the DE at the restaurant at the beginning of DH, Hermione was terrified of the concept + Hermione didn't let Harry curse the DE with the baby head in the DoM in OotP). If Ron gets a kill shot before Hermione can incapacitate him, he would win.
Ron would be able to learn Hermione during the fight, which is important. While Hermione knows a lot of spells, she is pretty predictable and tends to stick to the same few and she is more hesitant. Her best strategy would be to incapacitate Ron quickly so he won't get lucky — which might not happen since when things get dangerous, she has a moment of shock in which she hesitates. In front of an enemy, Ron would be less hesitant. So, as long as Ron doesn't get a lucky shot and Hermione is focused and doesn't panic — she would probably win.
“Did you see me disarm Hermione, Harry?” “Only once,” said Hermione, stung. “I got you loads more than you got me —” “I did not only get you once, I got you at least three times —” “Well, if you’re counting the one where you tripped over your own feet and knocked the wand out of my hand —”
(OotP)
As canon:
If we have their relationship as it is in the books, Ron is not going to harm Hermione in any way and she knows Ron and she aren't really in danger, she wouldn't hesitate and just cast ahead non-lethally.
Also, these are Ron and Hermione, so they'd be having fun in this duel and getting jokingly competitive, so the duel would last longer since Ron wouldn't go for a kill shot in a moment of hesitation that isn't there in this sort of duel. This means the duel would be more drawn out and down to skill, making Hermione winning the more likely outcome.
Round 1: Harry VS Neville
As enemies:
I love Neville, but this is an easy Harry win. He wouldn't break a sweat.
Harry isn't one to kill if he has no reason to, unless he really sees Neville as an enemy; he won't cast anything lethal and limit himself to spells such as "stupefy" and "impedimenta" for the most part.
Neville, at his peak, can fight, and not badly, but Harry is so much quicker than Neville is.
Harry would wait to see what Neville does; Neville would be pushed to cast the first spell, Harry would dodge and start casting. He'd be too quick for Neville to both block and try and fight back at the same time. Not only that, but Harry is one of the more mobile duelers we see; he isn't staying at one place, he'd be moving all over, and Neville is constantly going to be on the back foot.
The thing about Harry's spell choice is that even when it's not a lethal one, he would cast spells to end the duel instantly. One spell is enough for Harry to win. Even if Neville gets lucky, Harry shows in HBP how quickly and instinctively he can pull up a shield, and the shield would be powerful enough to throw Neville back and disarm him — so, Neville loses all too quickly, unfortunately.
As canon:
Harry likes Neville; he doesn't want to hurt him, but he will cast an "expelliarmos" if he finds it necessary, and there is no way Neville would manage to hit him unless Harry is distracted (as happens in a D.A. meeting in OotP once). So, if Harry is focused on the fight, his first spell that lands is still ending it.
“Expelliarmus!” said Neville, and Harry, caught unawares, felt his wand fly out of his hand. “I DID IT!” said Neville gleefully. “I’ve never done it before — I DID IT!” “Good one!” said Harry encouragingly, deciding not to point out that in a real duel situation Neville’s opponent was unlikely to be staring in the opposite direction with his wand held loosely at his side.
(OotP)
Round 1: Ginny VS Luna
As enemies:
Ginny is known to cast some powerful hexes, Luna on the other hand, isn't as much of a fighter, and we don't see her cast much magic at all. Though she remains unhurt in the DoM longer than Ginny, I'd say she is less confrontational than Ginny and less reckless, and that's why.
Ginny is a better dueller in terms of spells, but she is very reckless. Luna is more cautious and would probably have a better, calmer grasp of the situation. I think Ginny is more likely to win this duel, though. As much as I love Luna, she isn't as fast on her feet or with her spell work, and magical dueling is so often down to who lands the first spell.
Ginny would also likely be pretty predictable as a dueler. You would be able to tell when she's about to cast something before casting it, it would be all over her body language and movements. But, as I said, I think in this duel she has enough of an edge with speed that she'd still win.
As canon:
I think Ginny would win, I think she is the better dueller between the two. Luna would laugh about it, though, and not take it personally, because she never does. Obviously, all the spells would be non-lethal and funnier rather than painful.
Round 2: Harry VS Hermione
As enemies:
Hermione, as I mentioned, knows more spells and is more precise in how she casts them. But she tends to hesitate under danger, especially early in the duel, which is the most crucial time in a duel.
Harry, on the other hand, is fast, casts on instinct, and he may cast spells wrong, but they end up powerful and deadly.
This duel would start slow; neither of them would want to cast the first spell since they would want to see what the other would do. I think Harry would cast the first spell, likely "stupefy" or "expelliarmus", Hermione would block the first one and cast a hex of her own, Harry would block, and his shield would push Hermione back, which would shock her for a moment. That momentary shock would be long enough for Harry to stun her, and the duel would be over.
As canon:
They're friends, they don't actually want to hurt each other. Like with Ron and Hermione, if it's a training duel, they'd draw it out to be longer and have fun with it. But again, unless Harry is really distracted or not really putting effort, he is going to "win".
Round 2: Ginny VS Draco
As enemies:
Ginny would not be casting unforgivables and limit herself to curses like her "bat-bogey hex" or boils or things like that. Curses that are painful and more varied than Harry's usual dueling repertoire. Draco, on the other hand, can cast unforgivables, which can't be shielded against.
Ginny though, is pretty mobile; she's a Quidditch player, she should be good at running and ducking around. Draco could be pretty mobile too, but he isn't. When he fights Harry in HBP, Harry is the one who dodges and moves around, Draco prefers to block spells while staying stationary (which I believe is the more proper duelling form taught to wizards, but it's worse in life-or-death sort of fights).
This duel would come down to who gets the other first, as usual, since the first spell would be debilitating. My impression is that it would be Ginny. I mean, if Harry finished saying "Sectumsempra" before Draco finished saying "Crucio" (HBP), Draco is not a fast caster. So Ginny would probably take him.
Which she does in OotP:
“But Ginny was best, she got Malfoy — Bat- Bogey Hex — it was superb...
As canon:
Honestly, this goes the same as enemies since Ginny justified Harry almost killing Draco in HBP. Like, she wouldn't be casting unforgivables either way, but she's definitely using her worst, most painful, non-lethal curses in their canon relationship too.
Draco doesn't care much about Ginny and whether he uses unforgivables or not would depend on when in his arc and under what circumstances they are dueling. Either way it isn't going to help him much, I think.
Round 3: Harry VS Ginny
As enemies:
We already established their strengths and weaknesses as duelers, and as always Harry would win this one.
Harry, as I mentioned, would rather not cast the first spell against an unknown enemy. Ginny has none of these concerns — she'd start casting and moving forward the moment she is in a duel, and something important also in martial arts — you never run into a fight. Running into a fight puts you at a disadvantage. Since you're running in, you can't really change your momentum, and you're giving your opponent control over the situation. Yes, she isn't literally running, but she tends to be rash. It makes her a more predictable dueller and therefore easier to intercept if you know what you are doing and she doesn't catch you off guard. And Harry is rarely off guard (something something hypervigilance due to trauma).
The reason she could win against Draco and Luna is that she casts faster than they can react to her, but with Harry, this advantage is moot. She would start casting spells quickly, rushing in as Harry would block and dance around her. One well-timed shield charm from him will put her enough on the back foot for him to win. Remember, all that's needed to win is one spell that counts.
As canon:
Like with the other canon Harry duels, this would be a more fun, playful duel, and the spells would be non-lethal and non-painful to match. So, it depends on how much effort Harry is putting in since he doesn't put as much effort when practicing with the D.A. as he does with an actual enemy.
Some quick rounds:
A duel between Draco and Harry would pretty much go like their duel in the bathroom in HBP. Harry is just quicker, and even if he isn't trying to be lethal, Draco would not get a hit on Harry before Harry incapacitated him. Harry would be moving around, making himself a harder target to hit, but Draco won't.
A duel between Ron and Harry would be similar (if they fight as enemies). Harry is just really fast and duels like it's a street fight. Though once Ron notices it, he'd match his own style. He won't mind punching and kicking in a duel, but I think Harry could incapacitate him before it gets to it.
In a Ron VS Draco duel when Ron's wand isn't broken, I want to give Ron the win, but it's a close one. Ron would win because he ducked a spell and then just punched Draco instead of casting a spell of his own.

PROBLEMATIC YURI TOURNAMENT BEGINS!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
about the polls!
polls will be a week long each. they will all be made in advance and then scheduled to post an hour apart. there may be gaps in between as sometimes we can't make all polls at once.
reblog with propaganda all you want!! not all submissions came with propaganda so it's especially welcome.
p.s...... the submission form will remain open still for the purpose of future brackets!
this post will be pinned and polls will be linked here as they're made.
content ratings are currently really rough just to make sure no one gets in trouble reading them at work/school/in public. if something is marked as "gore/violence" it might be minimal gore or just violence; if something is rated explicit it might just be, like, one sex scene. in future brackets we may make more elaborate ratings.
vote for what you think is the BEST problematic yuri, not necessarily the MOST problematic yuri!

Umbrella academy - subway map code translated
Some of you might have seen I started to make a stab at solving the symbol code seen in TUA S4.
@ifellinto-fantasy happened upon a real life copy of the map so very kindly sent me some lovely photos to help translate the smaller bits of text I was struggling to see.
There are some missing letters and presumed typos in the code, so where I've corrected these I've added brackets around the correction, in caps if a corrected letter (M) lower case if an added letter (m)
For an overview of the map there is a zoomable image here
Tumblr media
So there's several areas of code and text to look at
Tumblr media
Starting with the title on the far left - SYSTEM MAP
Tumblr media
The block of text next to it is a little longer, but still translates:
ATTENTION
THE TIMELINE IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR SANITY BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO GAME THE SYSTEM ALL WILL BE REVEALED WHEN THE ANSWER IS OBVIOUS THE SOLUTION WILL BE ACHIEVED UNTIL THEN TH(e) TIMELINE MUST BE RESPECTED
Tumblr media
At the top right of the map is this little box of text
INFORMATION
WE ARE NOT RES(p)ONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS
Tumblr media
Bottom left there is another text box
ATTENTION
THIS IS NOT A CLU(e)
CLUES ARE EVER(Y)WHERE
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the line codes. Some of the lines are also letter symbols, but most are new symbols
The text upper left reads
DIRECTORY
The smaller text at the top is duplicated across both keys, but the kerning is different between the two boxes
THE TIMELINE IS ENDLESS DO NOT LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOAL
I'll be doing a second post shortly translating the much smaller text under each of the line symbols

polls are tagged with the relevant teams, players, and league if you’re looking for a specific one! to see only polls, look in the #poll tag. this blog runs on a queue and will be posting nhl and pwhl polls as we get results for earlier polls in the bracket
there’s going to be a bracket for underrated blorbos! if one of your blorbos is eliminated early because of an unlucky matchup in rounds one or two, hope is not lost! this bracket will tentatively be starting in early july.
matchups are listed below the read more. the mbp matchups were seeded based on the number of votes each player received in the preliminary survey, so hopefully the most blorboable players will meet each other in later rounds. survey results will also be linked under the read more in separate parts.
if one of your favorite players is in the bracket, feel free to send in blorbo propaganda!
suggestions for future polls can be submitted at this link.
the nhl bracket is at this link
the pwhl bracket is at this link
survey results:
nhl numbers breakdown by team
nhl overview of free-response answers
nhl team-specific responses
pwhl numbers breakdown by team
wip: pwhl overview of free-response answers (including team-specific responses)
other potential brackets might be coming up in the offseason after the main mbp tournament ends:
best underrated blorbo (for the players who get voted out of the first round and potentially also later rounds)
oops, all goalies
america’s next top hockey blorbo
hockey blorbo hall of fame selection bracket (will include categories for retired and ltir-retired players, active veteran players who have been in the league for a minimum number of years, and miscellaneous players who should be recognized for their contributions to hockey fandom lore)
