Lucy! She inherited her father's vampire powers and fangs. Only unlike her dad, older half sister, and nephew, she has a fangy overbite - inspired by Ericka and Van Helsing's buck teeth, Vampericka, @lovelylivelyv 's Gorgericka, and the vampire kids in Hotel Transylvania 2.

Ericka and Mavis' eeveelutions, Eve the Sylveon and Lydia the Umbreon respectively, have prominent fangs as well. Of course, most eeveelutions have fangs being cat-dog like creatures. But living with vampires caused their fangs to develop more prominently as eevees. Sylveons have hidden venom-filled fangs in their ribbons as well as ones on their mouths. Bram the Crobat, Eddie the Shiny Swoobat, Colombia the Shiny Primarina, and Lulu the Zoroark also have fangs too.

Vixen also has fangs as the grey tree fox adopted child of Wildehopps. Though those aren't as visible as Lucy's.

Not sure if this one really COUNTS as fangs, but Stitch and Angel's pups all have mouthfulls of blunt predator-like teeth that can eat through almost anything. Lizzie also has sharp teeth as a dragon.

He's a power hungry fascist in The Adventures of the Athena Club (everyone in the crew of light is evil there, minus Mina and Dracula who eloped together)

He's a villain in Anno Dracula (Jack is too) and the author admitted it was just because he hates him

He's a greedy murderous opportunist in Lucy Undying (though still not as evil as Mina)

What's boring at this point is completely changing his personality. Make him interesting with the building blocks you have than by making him an OC. He Would Not Fucking Say That.

RIGHT!? And the thing is he’s not boring in the novel? He wins Lucy’s heart, still trusts in his friends despite them being suitors to help him with his ailing fiancée. Not to mention his dad dying and taking on a title around the same time his fiancée dies and takes it mostly in his stride. (That man deserves to cry dammit.)

He’s incredibly resourceful (see dogs and the money for lock picking/travel) and he alone had to do something that no one else in the novel had to do, stake a vampire that was previously their loved one.

Whenever I see people on the hate train against Jonathan -- it doesn't seem as common nowadays, but they're apparently still alive and roaring in their circles jiogep -- it's soooo funny how they use Mina as a scapegoat for their anti-Jonathan rhetoric but can't think of a solution to Mina being "overshadowed" other than... erasing Jonathan from the narrative and/or replacing him with a new guy. They don't share this attitude toward Van Helsing though, which I find curious. I mean, perhaps they have some bitterness towards the guy, but never have I seen them speak on that... nope, it's just vitriol for Jonathan.

This is a rant.

A lot of people like Jonathan. Sure, sue us. And there is generally a problem with female characters being less prioritized in fandoms than their male counterparts. But the cultural impact of a few tumblr users calling Jonathan Harker their blorbo will never stand a chance against the wider interpretation of Van Helsing.

All of Mina's accomplishments and ideas are attributed to VH in many adaptations and readings, and she gets pushed to the side and downgraded into a screaming damsel who, in the worst cases, is depicted as encouraging Dracula's sexual crimes. Mina isn't the only victim of this flanderization, all the protagonists in Dracula are often dumped for the sake of raising up Sexy Tortured Hunky Helsing, but it's especially offensive to see this highly intelligent and resourceful female character have all her intellectualism stripped and given to an older male character. In fact, the very older male character who endangered her life because he doubted her mind and infantilized her!! The irony hurts!!

Now, I am pissed that the vast majority of people will always see VH as the ultimate champion against Dracula and view Mina as nothing more than a wayward virgin in the devil's clutches, but I don't direct that anger toward Van Helsing and get pissy any time I see him. But people who are still furious that love for Jonathan Harker exists do precisely that to Jonathan. And when I try to figure out why VH is not attacked with such venom but Jonathan is... it doesn't look good, chief.

In general, an older, accomplished man with a lot of say in group decisions against a younger, inexperienced man with little say in group decisions. An enforcer of gender roles against a challenger of gender roles. A man who said to Mina's face that he doubted her intelligence against a man who eagerly kissed her when she displayed her skills in deduction... Who is the evil gigachad? Truly neither of them, but I hope this illustrates my point. VH's authority and sexist beliefs are already a bit of an obstacle for Mina (one she thankfully overcomes) and yet her supportive husband is seen as the problem. Not because he's not supportive enough, but he's just too charismatic.

You don't need to write Jonathan out of the story to put more focus on Mina. Bram didn't feel the need to do that when he summarized his entire novel as being about Mina's gallant bravery, so why would you? Unless maybe... it isn't wanting more focus on Mina as a female character but rather a call for less focus on Jonathan as a male survivor of assault.

It's incredibly telling when they go beyond erasing Jonathan and actually replace Jonathan with a new man that their problem isn't that Mina's supposedly being overshadowed by her male love interest, it's that Mina's male love interest is not an overbearing hypermasculine figure. Mina, who had an equal partnership from the beginning, is told "nonono, you have to get with an awful man... and transform him into an okay husband". I don't know about you, but that does not sound like putting Mina at the forefront whether that new man is an OC, a character from another novel, or Dracula himself. That sounds more like twisting her into being the catalyst for an awful man's character growth. WHICH WE ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH OF IN FICTION.

And hey, lissen, you can read and write as many reimaginings of Beauty and the Beast AU Dracula as you want, but stop lying and claiming it's for Mina's sake, like fuck dude, your taste in men is not Mina's, she much prefers her gothic heroine of a husband over your saviour complex nonsense.

Hello, it's me! I wanted to ask about Lisa van Zieks. Could you tell me what her life was like before meeting Barok? Her family background and such. And I would love to know her personality, if you'd like to share that!

Well she is just a minor character so I don’t have a huge backstory.

She’s based off two characters I rather like from the Castlevania games. Lisa Tepes (the wife of Dracula) and Mina Hakuba (the love interest of Soma Cruz, Mina is based off of Mina Harker from Bram Stroker’s Dracula)

I thought it would be a fitting name for my OC since everyone makes Barok is Dracula jokes and Castlevania jokes and I quite enjoy the Castlevania games.

Her name was Lisa Harker before marrying Barok (my reference is obvious to the above I explained already).

Lisa is from an affluent aristocratic family in London, the Harker clan. Rumors even say her ancestors were vampire and monster slayers (another funny little reference I do to the Castlevania games, a little wink at the Belmont clan).

Lisa is very kind and patient. But she does have a teasing nature.

She was arranged to be married to Barok, to tie the two aristocratic families together. She was fine with this match as Barok was always a gentleman. Granted things became rough when his brother died. But Lisa remained ever kind and patient and gentle through it all. She didn’t make the pain go away, but at least gave him some comfort.

They did grow to fall in love gradually during their marriage. In my upcoming story they already have a young son named Adrian van Zieks (he’s like 3 and he’s based off Alucard, the son of Dracula and Lisa in the Castlevania games). They will have a second son born also not long after Ryunosuke left back for Japan that Ryunosuke will get to meet in this story.

This second son is named Drake van Zieks. Drake is a twofer little reference. First one of the meanings of the name of Dracula is Dragon, which Drake means Dragon. The other is in the meaning Dragon. Which the Ryu in Ryunosuke means dragon. Yes… in a roundabout way Barok is naming his son after Ryunosuke because how grateful he was for him and respects him. But don’t you dare ever get him to admit that lol.

Lisa and Dracula will go on to have a third child not long after Drake. A daughter, and her name will be Miriam van Zieks. She is loosely based on the protagonist of Bloodstained, an indie game that is a spiritual successor to Castlevania, and was even made by Iga, the brains behind Castlevania.

Aileen and Alucard (then Dracula) have a nice picnic...in the daylight. Aileen reveals that she has something she wants to talk to him about.

This fic takes place in 1893 where Aileen is still human. Alucard is referred to as Dracula since he hasn’t been enslaved by Van Helsing yet. The Brides of Dracula/Weird Sisters are named Florina, Micheala, and Monica after the actresses that played them in Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

She didn’t know how she was able to accomplish this. Dracula, the first vampire, known to legend as a monstrous beast and bloodthirsty warmonger, sitting with her in broad daylight in the fields near his castle, partaking in human food with her.

“I was under the impression that sunlight killed vampires,” she said, trying to break the ice after a somewhat-uncomfortable silence. She took a small sip of her tea. “I assume that’s why you’re in a hooded cloak, but…I’m still curious.” She also felt the need to add very quickly, “If you don’t want to be awake right now, we can go inside and you can rest. We don’t have to do this right now.”

The vampire chuckled. “You are considerate as always, my dear,” he said. “Sun does harm vampires. But I…have been around too long. I’ve developed a bit of an immunity to it in my old age. All it does now is make me very, very tired.” He turned up his nose indignantly. “I don’t understand how I managed it when I was human. It’s so bright and yellow and it burns my eyes when I’m tired.” He took note of the increasingly-worried look on her face. “But…” he began to backpedal. “I wanted to see what you looked like during the day. The way your God meant His children to be seen.”

Aileen chuckled to herself. “Was it to your liking, King of Vampires?” she asked.

“Immensely,” he sighed. “You look just as beautiful in the sun as you do in the firelight of my castle. Though I will say…I much prefer seeing your body bathed in moonlight. You look so much more…” He pondered, swirling the blood in his glass. “Natural.” He shrugged, smirking to himself. “And, of course, I don’t have to strain my eyes to be able to look at you.”

She laughed. “Vlad, we can go inside. We don’t have to sit out in the sun. Don’t be a martyr just because you think it’ll make me happy.”

“That’s where you misunderstand, dragă mea,” Dracula chuckled. “I would do whatever I could to ensure your happiness.” His expression grew solemn. “But…you did not ask me here just to discuss my vulnerabilities, did you?”

Aileen's face fell, and that’s when he knew. She sighed. “My family has been sending me letters,” she admitted.

Dracula’s voice came out in a low growl, “About your betrothed.”

“They keep asking me to come back to the States,” she continued. “They’ve begun to make plans for the wedding.”

“To your fiancé.”

“Arranged and former fiancé, Vlad,” Aileen corrected him.

“And what will you write them back?” Dracula asked, a restrained anger showing through. “You have become seduced by a monster of the night and live with him in his castle, where you are doted on night in, night out by his affections, and waited upon by his servants?”

“I’ve already written them back.” Aileen cut him off. With each sentence, her voice grew softer, more subdued. “I’ve told them circumstances have changed. Their most recent letter has told me that they’re coming to Transylvania to meet the fiancé I’ve disgraced them for.”

Dracula was quiet, and Aileen went on, “I’ve already told enough lies about us. I didn’t want to tell any more. I told them the truth: that I’ve fallen in love with a count from Transylvania who makes me happier than I’ve ever felt.” She ran her thumb over her engagement ring. “And we’re engaged to be married.” She looked up at him. “I want my family to be involved in this, Vlad. Even if they never know I’m going to become a vampire…I at least want them to know my husband.”

His voice was soft, subdued, as if he didn’t know what to believe. “You would want your family to know of your union to a monster?”

“You are not a monster,” she snapped, the sharpness of her tone surprising him. She took a small breath and collected herself before adding “Not to me.”

A soft breath escaped him. He looked into the red occupying his glass and thought for a moment. “I…I may need to lock the Weird Sisters away for their visit,” he said. “Florina and Michaela are very well behaved, but I can not risk them being influenced by Monica’s behavior.”

“It’s fine. I understand.” Aileen reached into the basket and picked two of the grapes from the vine they’d brought. “I...I hate saying that about something that sounds so awful, but it’s the best option. If Monica was left to her own devices, she could…” She paused, swallowing softly. “She’d kill them.”

She felt her shaking arm steady when his free hand took hers. “I know,” he said softly. ���But I also know that there is one of them that you wouldn’t mind burying.”

“Vlad.”

“Dragă,” he said, tightening his hold on her hand just a bit. “You only need to ask me to, and I will make sure he can not harm anyone again.”

“He’s my father, Vlad.”

Dracula bared his fangs. “A father should not treat his children like pawns for status. You are you. And he should do well to accept that people have thoughts and feelings.”

Aileen's face fell. She couldn’t help it, but a dark thought came to her mind. “If you had never met me…” she asked, her fingers closing around the grapes she was holding. “Do you think you would have agreed with him?”

He was quiet, but still kept his hold on her hand. “In the past...perhaps I would have,” he said. He set his glass of blood inside the picnic basket and his other hand lay itself on her closed fingers. “But I am not that man anymore.” One of his hands came up to gently open her fingers, revealing the grapes inside her palm. “As long as I can remember, I have been taking what I wanted. But even after I tried to take something from you…” His fingers rolled one of the grapes around her palm. “You gave something to me. I can’t remember the last time something was given to me without having to force it to my possession.”

He picked up the grape he was playing with and held it out to her. “I want to give you something back.”

Aileen stared at the grape, and closed her eyes. When she opened them again she looked up at him, as if she were trying to stare into his soul. “You’re trying hard to change, Vlad. I know you are.” She reached up and held the side of his face. “I don’t want my father to make you go off the edge. That’s what he does to people. He purposefully eggs them on and uses their snapping as a reason to discredit them.” Her gaze fell to the soft blanket underneath them. “He’ll use whatever he deems negative to turn you into an enemy. I don’t want you to prove him right. For your own sake.”

They sat together in a moment of silence. Then Aileen leaned towards his hand and bit down on the grape he was holding. Dracula watched her with surprised eyes. “Why, you little thief,” he laughed, shaking his head at the big smile on her face.

“I was going to eat those first,” Aileen insisted.

“And talking with your mouth full. Oh, you rotten child. You were so proper when you first got here.” “You’re always so feral when you drink from the trespassers. Not to mention how often you spook me in the castle halls.” She shrugged, popping the other grape into her mouth. “You made me this way. Accept it, King of Vampires; you’re corrupting me.”

Dracula sighed. “Well, I can only hope I don’t pull you too far down. If nothing else, I would at least like you to remain chaste until our wedding night.”

Aileen looked back at him. “What makes you think I wouldn’t?” she asked. “I don’t have anyone else I want to run to.”

Dracula smiled at her. He reached down and took her hand, brushing his lips over her engagement ring. Aileen watched him, returning his smile. “Would you like to go back inside?”

“Yes, please,” he responded almost immediately.

She couldn’t help but laugh. “At least consider my proposal.”

Dracula smiled. “I’m just very tired.”

“Alright, then. Let’s head back.” Aileen picked up her cup from where she’d set it on the blanket and tried to finish drinking what she’d had left. Dracula, meanwhile, picked up the bottle in the basket and poured the blood back inside. Aileen set her cup back in the basket and closed it up before standing up and getting off the blanket. “Do you want me to carry-?” She was cut off by Dracula picking up the blanket and suddenly pulling it off the grass. “Alright.”

Her fiancé smiled an impish smile. Tucking the blanket under his arm, he held his hand out to her. Smiling back at him, she took his hand, threading her fingers between his, and followed him back to the castle.

I haven’t given much love to my other Persona OC team. So here’s Yoshio Kimura, another second year though he attends a different school than Ayumu and Suzume. He takes a special interest in the paranormal and strange (ghosts, cryptids, urban legends, etc) but is ostracized by both peers and family because of it.

He eventually awakens to the persona Van Helsing based on the character from Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Hot take that probably isn’t actually that controversial and I’m just weirdly insecure about it for no reason: self insert OCs aren’t that bad actually? Everyone calls certain characters author self inserts as an insult, and I get what they’re trying to criticize, but like… I love my OCs specifically because it allows me to explore different aspects of myself. Do I sometimes write stories where characters that are basically me get to finally stand up for themselves and have people who support them? Yeah. Would I probably get a little bit too defensive over certain aspects of my characters just because those aspects are extremely personal to me? Also yeah. But at the end of the day, as long as it isn’t actively making the story worse, who the hell cares?

Best example off the top of my head is that in Dracula, Jonathan Harker and Van Helsing are both definitely Bram Stoker’s self inserts. Heck, Bram is literally the shortened version of Abraham, he isn’t exactly subtle about it. But I adore those two characters, and even if they do badass things and get wooed by hot vampire men who definitely aren’t inspired by any of Stoker’s real world crushes, they also have other character traits, and other characters also get to have the spotlight. There’s a ton of shit I can criticize Stoker for, if I ever got to meet him through time travel or necromancy shenanigans, I’d probably be the first person to punch him, but I can’t really fault him for this.

164: Are any of your characters tinkerers or inventors?

Oooooooo, yes. I do have one, from my original wip the veiled. He doesn't have a name yet, but basically he is this old man who has a vast library with many work tables. Each table has different blueprints, and he travels between them on whim. He uses all types of metals and woods and fabrics, you name it. Bunch of rare stuff, too, but he keeps that hidden, not in the library.

He has a personality based from a mix of Van Helsing from Bram Stoker's Dracula (both the book version and the 1992 film version with Anthony Hopkins) and Gandalf from lotr.

@death-made-her-stronger (Loveday Killigrew Fitzwilliam- born during the Elizabethan Era, Loveday was burned at the stake after being convicted of being a witch and betrayed by her husband. She was then resurrected by a demon who taught her real magic and helped her reach her true potential. I also write for a few of Loveday’s coven members here as well so you could consider this a multiple muse blog.)

@the-brides-of-dracula (Svetluska, Minerva, and Luludja - canon divergent brides of Dracula based off of Bram Stoker’s Dracula books and films as well as a bit from Van Helsing. Svetluska is the eldest vampire as well as the most dangerous of the brides. Minerva was chosen next. She has a calming aura to her and keeps the peace between the brides. Luludja was youngest and is the trouble maker of the three.)

@love-is-stupid-cupid (Adelpha Valentine - once part of the team of Cherubs belonging to Cupid/Eros whose job was to spread love throughout the world. She had loved her job for centuries until she realized just how much heartbreak and sadness there was in the world despite her and her siblings best efforts. Knowing that all the work she had once put into her job was all in vain, she left her home to live among the mortals, her heart broken just like everyone else’s.)

@woman-in-the-painting (Katherine or Kitty for short - brought to life by the love and passion of a painter named Phineas Giles during the Regency Era. Technically a Tulpa she has the ability to travel in and out of her portrait. Throughout the years she has seen many things as she and her painting have traveled to many different places and hung in many different rooms.)

@empath-of-the-gods (Heidi Van Tassel - had a happy childhood until her father died. Her mother sent her to boarding school after that hoping she’d be able to make friends. It was there surrounded by a bunch of homesick girls that Heidi became an empath. As she grew older, her empathy only became stronger and her need to help others grew. This often lead her into trouble wanting to help those that just couldn’t be helped. She had attracted the attention of the Egyptian goddess Nephthys who was impressed by her empathic abilities. On one particular occasion when Heidi had gotten into trouble once again and didn’t think she was going to make it out, Nephthys intervened. After she was rescued Heidi agreed to be Nephthys’ avatar and has since continued the goddess’s work of helping others. This is a Moon Knight OC but crossovers are welcome.)

@sisters-through-the-verses (Reagan and Quinn - two sisters who have been each other’s lifelines since they were kids. They would do anything for each other but Reagan, the eldest is willing to go even further for Quinn. Quinn often gets into trouble and although Reagan isn’t proud of some of the things she has to do, her top priority will always be her sister.)

@fae-wander-here ( This sideblog had several muses. The two elven sisters are quite different from each other. While Cillrindriel would rather live a quiet life among her garden and books, her sister Helia is on a constant search for adventure that often leads her to trouble. Floxie is a fairy who travels back and forth from the Fae realm to the Human Realm. She is usually quite happy but gets offended easily as most fairy do. She cares deeply for her friends but loves to pull pranks and tricks as often as she can. Isabeau is a Veela that is Slavic mythology based. She is a fighter and loves to hunt and dance. She is quite fascinated with humans and spends a lot of time observing them. Brigid is a leprechaun who enjoys drinking, laughing, and playing tricks on others. She is the daughter of King Brian Connors. As a princess and a rare female leprechaun, she is a bit spoiled. Morwenna is both a banshee and a demigod. Her mother is Clíodhna, Queen of the Banshees. As a banshee, Morwenna has foretold the death of many souls over the centuries she’s been alive. Now in modern times, Morwenna works as a mortician and a funeral director. Most of people that come into her funeral home are those whose deaths she has foretold.)

@soul-mate-less (Elleri - from a dimension where soulmates actually exist. Every year a large ceremony is held to celebrate those who have come of age and can now find their soulmate. When it was Elleri’s turn, no one came forward. She went to see the Creator ofSouls and learned that she did have a soulmate, they just happened to be a human and live on a place called Earth. Elleri now travels Earth in hope of finding her soulmate. Elleri also has a human verse where she works in a bakery by day and goes to night classes at her local college during her free time.)

@i-wear-my-horns-like-a-crown (Bellarosa - once the wife to a mob boss, she took over her husband’s empire after killing him. He had always been abusive and she finally had enough. Now that she’s the boss, her empire has grown and she is well respected by those who follow and know her. Bellarosa also had a demon/succubus verse. I haven’t written much for her so she is still being developed.)

@things-yet-to-come (Delphine and Kassidy - twin sisters and descendants of Kassandra, the Greek priestess who originally was gifted the ability to see the future by Apollo, only to be cursed so that know one would ever believe her when she went back on her word. Both sisters have Kassandra’s gift as it has been passed down for generations although they are not cursed like she was.)
