BRIDGERTON FIC EXCHANGE 2021 - Reveals

I just want to thank everyone who has contributed to this - I am extremely thankful and I really hope that everyone enjoyed participating.

On a side note, if you would like me to do another exchange in the summer, where I will attempt to be 100% more organised, please let me know.

BRIDGERTON FIC EXCHANGE

Welcome to my first Bridgerton fanfic exchange (well my first ever exchange). If you don’t know what a fic exchange is, don’t worry. I’m here to help. They do vary from person/fandom etc, but this is how this one will run.

You (the author) will need to submit a few things via the google submission form above

1. A prompt you would like to read - this can be as detailed as you want, or as small as you want. If the prompt is from somewhere else (i.e a tumblr/twitter account, please credit them). Otherwise, be as creative as possible. Please also include an ideal rating. When submitting a prompt ideally submit which pairing/s you would like to be involved. If you don’t submit a pairing &/ rating it is up to the writer who gets it. You can submit as many prompts as you like (not all may be written)

Now, as an author, I will ask you also to submit a few things. Your tumblr/twitter handle (so I can contact you). Which pairing/s you would like to write. And what ratings you are willing to write.

I will then provide each writer with a prompt (not theirs) to write. Obviously there may be occasions where some prompts may not be paired due to availability, so feel free to submit as many prompts as you wish, however if too many prompts, they will not be written. If I do get more prompts than writers, they will be published after the exchange as a free-for-all.

This will begin anonymous, it’s meant to be a bit of fun, so please do not talk about what prompts you’ve received with others or what prompts you’ve sent. The aim is to guess who has written what, it’s an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone too.

Important Dates

Sunday 31st October (23:00 BST) - Submission will close

1st - 7th November - Prompts will be handed out.

Sunday 19th December - Deadline Day (2300 GMT)

26th - 31st December - POST TIME! Dependant on how many received, they will be scattered over the Sunday - Friday

19th - 28th December - PUBLISHING DAYS

3rd January - REVEALS

Rules/Tips

Parings can be any pairing at all. Canon, non-canon. M/M, W/W.

Will accept all ratings.

There is no word count. Ideally something more than 1k words, but you can write to your heart's content if you so wish.

These will just be oneshots (although if you really wish to write 50k words in a one part fic then go for it)

These will be posted anonymously to a collection on A03 until the reveal date.

If you want to remain anonymous, you can do so, just let me know. Only I will know who you are.

If you want to create artwork for your work, go for it.

You can have a beta. Just try to remember that this is meant to be a game and a bit of fun with the whole anonymous thing and guessing who's who.

I will screen each fic, and if there’s any issues or I think it is tagged incorrectly, I will let you know. However, I will not have the time to edit the fic. (Hence allowing you to have a beta if you so wish)

If you want to participate just as a writer you can - a lot of people are sending in multiple (amazing) prompts, so if you're unsure what prompt etc, just pop N/A in the google form 🧡

Hello everyone! All prompts have now been sent!

If you haven't received a prompt, please let me know.

In case you have forgotten anything or need a reminder, you can find more info regarding rules and important dates here - your next important date is 19th December, which is your deadline!

I received an amazing amount of superb prompts, so if anyone would still like to participate, please let me know.

Alternatively, if any current participators would like to write another prompt on top of what they've already been given, I'm happy to assign more.

Note regarding prompt allocation. Every writer who has sent a prompt, at least one of their prompts has been allocated. Allocations were done randomly using a random number generator to pick pairing (if author gave multiple options) and then prompt (from list of prompts matching the pairing). If the prompt rating did not match what the author was willing to write, I generated a new number.

BRIDGERTON FIC EXCHANGE - UPDATE

Hey everyone - so of course, I can't read, and there is a little problem with posting your fics to the collection on A03.

Basically, it still posts the works anonymously, but posts them to A03 just like any other fic, but doesn't attach it to the collection as it is waiting to be moderated.

by rules of deduction, people may know the two that have already been published - but you know THAT IS OK. An early Christmas present of fics for ya'll.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW.

Post your fic to the collection between 19th Dec - 28th Dec. Any day, any time, we're just going for it. I'll accept it. It will still show as anonymous until I untick that nice little anonybox.

Reveals will still be around the start of January, and I will endeavour to make round up posts of anything that has been submitted between 19th-28th.

This does mean that works won't be 'checked' by me, so as always tag your stuff correctly and read the tags!

Just to clarify. You can submit your work to the collection anytime between 19th and 28th December.

HOW TO SUBMIT: You can post directly to the moderated collection on AO3. If you would still rather your A03 account not to be attached, you can send it via email to [email protected], or share it via a google doc to the same email and it will continue to remain anonymous.

If we decide to participate can we ask to not be given someone's prompts? I wouldn't want to not make them justice.

the whole idea is to use someone else's prompt as it's an exchange, if you want I can always give you a prompt of my own if that would sit better with you? Alternatively, I do have a few prompts from people that are just single words or general events so not super specific and very open, so I can always give you one of those if you just make it a bit clear?

everyone participating should be understanding that their prompt will be given to a random person and they (the prompt maker?) have no control over it.

I'm sure you would do whatever prompt you receive complete justice 🧡

I really just want this to be open, friendly and a bit of fun. If anyone gives any writer shit for not completing their prompt 'properly' (not that there's a proper way, it's a prompt) then they will have me to speak to 🥰

hi! just a quick question regarding the fic exchange. If we post under our own pen names on the ao3 collection, will you make it anonymous or is there a way? and once you unveil will our names show on the fic? Sorry I am new to this so I am a bit unsure. Is it definitely anonymous or can we not just post our fics under the collection?

Hey hey hey, the collection is moderated and anonymous, only I can will be able to see who's submitted anything until I take off the anonymous part.

This is what it looks like for me when someone publishes something onto the collection - it gives me the option to approve and take off the anonymous veil.

and then when I approve it this is how it will look on the collection

and then this is what your own page will look like once it's approved and still anonymous

a la not visible to anyone.

Don't mind me I used an old account to test it and I don't want anyone reading that fic, it's baaaaad

hi! so excited for the fanfiction exchange thank you so much for organizing it. I was just wondering about the structure. I know the post said a one-shot, I am just writing at the moment and was wondering if it is completed on the due date if we would be allowed split a fic into two parts and post them on the date at the same time? Just for them to read better. Mixing POVs in a one shot can be hard sometimes!

Hi! You're welcome!! I'm glad you're excited for it.

I'm happy to be flexible, I just ideally want the works finished so no worries about updates or abandonment. If you would prefer to split it into two parts, you can do that. If you just upload it to the collection on A03, it wont show until I post it so you should still be able to edit it and add the second part! Hopefully, it should be as simple as that 👀😂

The secrecy was stressful because there were times I wanted to ask questions but couldn't. 😅 I enjoyed the exercise of writing a different couple, though! Did I surprise anyone?
