I have been threatening to alter the angle of my light table for months now but today I really felt the need to sit and write the slowest script in our western calligraphic tradition, Textualis Quadrata. I did some massive writing this morning with an xheight of 5cm. This really made made want to writing in a much more concerted practise with a broad edged nib. I love TQ and we have a super course on it on Teachable. For me it is one of the best scripts to start a beginner off. This is my geometric version of the script. I developed this to help beginners truly understand the script, its balance and the tools. I’ll post the video of this soon. Accountable: To be accountable for one’s actions, to take responsibility for how one’s behavior affects others. To hold everyone accountable to the same level. To think about how you live in the context of the greater community. No words, phrases, letter style truly is expressing the intensity of this feeling. A bigger nib? A louder voice? Swearing? To trust that those who have the power to act will do so decisively and with strength. With the strength I do not feel. Petitions and phone calls.
