‼️RANT‼️
TW: porn, sa, rape, pedo, this is a commentary.
Im so tired of the Bsd fandom. Like i like it sometimes, i won’t deny that, but there is too much porn 😭😭.
I want family fond, fluff, anything! I want teen reader who acts too much like a bsd character when they were their age. I want a teen reader in the beast au whos Dazai right hand like how Dazai was Moris right hand. I want dad/mom bsd parent. I want teen reader taking the place as the new demon prodigy, i want intelligent reader. I want child of Chuuya or Dazai meeting someone who is just like Chuuya or Dazai. (Idk how to explain well but here you go. Ex: Child of Chuuya meets someone who acts just like Dazai when Chuuya met Dazai, or child of Dazai gets body slammed by someone who acts like Chuuya). I want a sassy child reader. I WANT PLOT. PLEASE IM BEGGING, IM SO BORED OF JUST READING PORN AFTER PORN CAUSE THERES NOTHING ELSE. ITS SO DRY IN HERE. IF YOUR GONNA MAKE PORN, MAKE IT INTERESTING. I DON’T WANT TO SEE DADDY DAZAI, THAT MAN IS NOT A DADDY!! HES A MANIPULATIVE TWINK. At this point its not even nice to read it. I can just hear my pussy shrivel up and die every time i stumble across smut or lemon or whatever people call it nowadays. (Side note non-con, pedo shit, etc is way too normalized in this fandom.)
Edit: i just want to add im not against porn. Do whatever you want, i can’t control you. What im so upset about is the fact it’s only porn. I can’t find a x reader (Platonic or Romantic) without it being anime characters raw dogging it, in a way that’s so out of character for them. I just want more variety.
Edit 2: I’m being overdramatic as a joke. I don’t like complaining without adding things that will make me giggle. Sorry I didn’t make that clear. If you don’t agree with my opinion scroll away, this wasn’t made to start any fights. This is just mindless ranting about what bugged me at the moment. Please don’t give me solutions, or try to treat me like I’m stupid. I already know what solutions to take, and I’m already taking them. I also want to add again: I DON’T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PORN. DO NOT DEBATE WITH ME ABOUT IT.
Edit: Ya’ll are porn addicts. This is a commentary, it’s my opinion. Mindless rambling. But the way im seeing people get straight up attacked for saying it’s weird how much “Dark Romance” there is, is gross. Im lucky to have only a few try to fight me. Obviously I want to add, Im not talking about consenting adults. Im talking about yandere (Yandere is debatable, if it’s executed well), rape, sa, pedo. I find it disgusting. I understand if you’re using it as a tool for comfort but I also understand most of the time it’s not healthy. if therapist specifically tells you to use it as a tool of comfort go ahead but don’t share that to the internet. If not, do not do it. That comfort in your brain isn’t actually comfort its desensitization and desensitization can lead to more traumatic and horrible experiences. Anyways my conclusion is: Porn, no matter what form it is, is just as addictive. If you find something you don’t like scroll, if you keep getting that something then block. If you see something not okay then report, block, then scroll.
(Edit: I don’t exactly agree with my point about porn anymore. I don’t care anymore if someone is addicted to it or overuses it. But, I do still stand by my point about the normalization of non con thats not even written because it brings comfort, just written to get off too.)

A second batch of BSD light novels and manga arrived today. I finally read Osamu Dazai’s Entrance Exam. I have to say that while I understand Kunikida better now I still… don’t really like him. He’s just so… inflexible. I find myself sharing Dazai’s sentiments on how that’ll likely turn out for him. Also he comes across to me like a self centered pre-teen who has yet to fully grasp the fact that the world doesn’t exist solely in their perception of it, if that makes sense. He is so sure he knows what’s right and wrong without consideration of all the factors he can’t see. Not because he doesn’t care but because he doesn’t think to care.
Kunikida is a person who wants to be good but he has either decided that good is firm old fashioned and privileged or he never took the time to think about his morals for himself and allowed them to be prescribed to him.
It’s also just really hard to like someone who thinks they can just decide what kind of person they’re going to marry and that person will miraculously appear and want to marry them as well. Kunikida just has a lot of problematic views on women in general if you ask me. Not in the overt misogyny way but in a patriarchal binary gender roles way.

one of the most striking things about the guild arc to me was the scene where dazai told atsushi to make akutagawa play fetch with the phone on the moby dick and atsushi did it, no questions asked. i mean like i get why he did it, a quick fix to a pressing issue, and i dont blame him for following along when he’d regarded dazai as his reliable mentor. but it’s one of those occurrences giving me doubt that atsushi was oblivious to the state of dazai and akutagawa’s relationship. i have no doubt that atsushi lived in willful denial about it for a good bit cuz he didnt want to believe that his mentor, whos been so graceful and kind to him, could be the type of mentor to akutagawa that akutagawa was to kyouka, and if atsushi thought about it for more than 5 minutes then hed be able to paint a pretty clear picture of just how badly dazai treated akutagawa. ofc cognitive dissonance probably played a role but it always confused me why people would discuss the DOA arc as if atsushi was going into complete shock discovering the true nature of dazai’s mistreatment. and its probably gonna weigh down on atsushi and dazai for a bit but ultimately the goal of the writing seems to be breaking atsushi’s rose colored vision of dazai rather than completely flipping it on its head. it feels more like a confirmation of something atsushi already suspected for a while but dreaded getting a solid answer to

At least in BEAST Akutagawa figures out and acknowledges that he’s a slave to his violent impulses and tries to become better. Even if it did take 4 volumes and four and a half years and his sister calling him evil. This man needs so much help and probably some medication but he’s not a lost cause.

minor correction - i said oda saw the world through the binaries of good/bad and peace/violence but, like dazai, these binaries were constructed from what oda observed of other people and ideas of morality he’d adopted rather than a sense of morality/justice oda felt deeply - which just goes back to the whole fake it til you make it thing, cuz if you actually get in the habit of living by those rules you set for yourself, is there a point where you stop “faking it” and it just becomes your reality? the reasoning behind it doesnt matter, not really. oda’s sense of good/bad might not have been rooted in empathy, but he still stopped killing out of a logical view of what’s good/peaceful and that made life more enjoyable for him. i think this is a similar case with dazai - dazai might still feel like his dedication to his path is shallow because he’s doing it out of oda’s wishes rather than any personal sense of morality, but dazai had grown to want to protect his peers and continue down the path of light because of the company he keeps. imposter syndrome will persist even when whats “fake” becomes reality, with dazai developing genuine attachments to the agency workers. oda was right, “since both sides are the same…doing [good] would be better” but oda and dazai both see “goodness” as a logical concept, paths they embarked on without any emotional/moral connection to said concept. oda was right, but not in the way he intended - goodness/rightness bled into their lives in a non-logical way… if oda had more time he wouldnt have felt that he lingered in the darkness and wouldnt be able to fill his own loneliness. this is my personal view of dazai but i dont think the way asagiri writes him has the intention of making the reader believe he’ll always be empty/lonely - i think we’re supposed to see that dazai thrives in the light. we’re not supposed to buy into his belief that there’s something inherently wrong with him. characters like him, chuuya, and sigma are just as human as the rest of the cast, dazai’s perceived lack of empathy/morality be damned
i'd always thought that it was a bit cruel for oda to have told a depressed teenager,as his closest friend, that he'd linger in the darkness forever. to some extent his parting words were what dazai needed to hear to set him on the path of light, and oda was never going to be able to give dazai's life meaning on his own, much less in a few words, but his declaration that dazai would essentially never find his purpose in life felt like an intrinsic misunderstanding of dazai as a person. now though i think oda did understand dazai but only as much as he understood himself. it feels obvious in retrospect but oda's just as unreliable of a narrator as dazai, so oda's view of dazai acts as an extension of his self-image. it's easy to forget because he looks so aged up in the anime and is treated by both his own narration and dazai's recollection of him as someone that's old but he was 23 when he died; a short but action-packed life won't give someone the same understanding that simply aging through life would. oda's frontal lobe wasnt even developed (crying emoji) but oda and dazai's extensive exposure to violence at a young age bred apathy as a defense mechanism. i wholeheartedly believe that oda was shown in his youth to provoke feelings of similarity between him and fifteenzai through their mutual stoicism. oda looks at life in the same broad and questioning sense dazai does - his perceived lack of purpose is the barrier between him and his novel, but he's blind to the importance of interpersonal connections to him the same way that dazai is. to an outsider, dazai's claims of emptiness and inherent wrongness in oda's dying moments feel ironic because we're bearing witness to the intensity of his emotions due to how deeply he cares for others (oda). i'm sure oda recognized his love for dazai ango and his orphans as affection but it never struck him as an aspect of his livelihood (much less one of the most important aspects), so in his grief he tells dazai that dazai will remain in the dark because oda was like dazai and remained in the dark until death (in oda's own eyes). oda fails to recognize at the end of his life that his love had given him purpose, perhaps feeling that guilt and responsibility is what led him on a suicide mission rather than realizing he found genuine purpose in caring for his kids since he'd processed the concept of purpose through the binaries of good/bad and peace/violence rather than something personalized. it's an incredibly similar mentality that fuels dazai's belief that he's empty/dyed mafia-black; dazai sees his life through the concepts of right/wrong. tho dazai's right and wrong aren't based in morality, they're based in an intellectual understanding of what he's supposed to feel based on what other people feel. dazai's brain moves too fast for his body so he processes too much stimuli at once, making it difficult for him to "live in the moment" because he's always thinking rather than experiencing. the torrent of sensation gets processed as thoughts, a web of objective observations ("this is what i'm feeling") rather than merely allowing himself to feel (i.e. a dopamine rush is internally processed as a dopamine rush and the stimulating effects are dulled). this is what dazai processes as his emptiness, which he further processes as wrongness because he observes that other people don't think like he does, don't see the world and process sensation like he does. thus everybody that doesn't have dazai's brain: right/normal; dazai: wrong/irregular. thing is though that dazai will continue to see himself as an outsider even throughout the development of his most important relationships. it's a testament to dazai's "disgusting vitality" that he's suddenly inspired to live after acquiring chuuya as a peer and even more so that he cares so deeply for the lupin trio/oda that he actually goes down the path oda wished for him, even if he himself doesn't believe in his ability to care for other people. (continued in reblog)

Note
we have a fictive of Arthur Rimbaud (from Bungo Stray Dogs) and once on a syscord server someone told us we "couldn't have a fictive of that character" (using these exact words) because the character was based on a real life author and it was "disrecpectful". they also talked about Arthur's death on a source episode, something that makes him very uncomfortable) and like. huh.

Some of my personal Hirotsu headcanons !!!! Part 1/?
~ speaks German fluently and a small bit of English, but he is too embarrassed to use English and would rather says he doesn’t speak it when asked.
~ Doesn’t drink much, but enjoys the occasional stiff drink, like a double finger of whiskey he can sip on. He doesn’t like beer or any other carbonated drinks. He definitely gets hangovers if he goes out drinking with the others and they manage to sway him into drinking more than he prefers.
~ His ideal retreat would be to the countryside or more remote location, away from the city. He enjoys staying in traditional ryokan and relaxing in onsen on the rare occasion that he takes a vacation from work.
~ Enjoys games like mahjong and card games (hanafuda) and is quite skilled at them. He enjoyed gambling when he was much younger, but has grown out of it.
~ He used to read a lot when he was younger. He still does when he has the time, and enjoys reading fiction from other Eastern countries outside of Japan. He has a soft spot for fantasy novels, but you wouldn’t catch him with one.
~ Enjoys going to matsuri and blending in with the common folk. He especially likes the ones with fireworks and will go for any of the fried or skewered foods being sold.
~ His favourite season is Autumn.
~ If he were ever to marry, he’d go for a small, traditional Shinto wedding. He loves the thought of a bride in shiromuke.
~ A law-abiding citizen, to a degree. He still gets disgruntled when he can’t have a smoke on the street or in public when he feels the itch for a cigarette.
~ Has a soft spot for children, especially toddlers. He finds their innocence and the way they see the world refreshing.
~ His average konbini purchase would be a warm drink and two packs of number 146 (Marlboro Red). He doesn’t like konbini food, and would rather wait until dinner to go to an izakaya or low-budget restaurant.
~ He doesn’t get paid much for his position, or at least that what it feels like to him. He’s stingy with his money, but still end up spending most of it on cigarettes.
~ Smokes about two packs a day, often times more if he’s saddled with boring paperwork in his office.
~ Hirotsu has a lean figure, but is soft in a few places like his tummy due to age. It’s not very noticeable, though.
~ He doesn’t work out often, and prefers light exercises like walking or jogging. He’s not good at running, and will only do so if his life depended on it.
~ He loves meat. He’ll splurge on a good steak or an expensive yakiniku or sukiyaki for himself at least once a month. He prefers quality over quantity, too.
~ He has his own place outside of the Port Mafia dorms. It’d be a 1R/studio and is furnished with only the necessities and enough space for himself. The majority of his furniture is made of mahogany wood, complemented with off-whites and small amounts of gold furnishings, giving his home has a warm feeling to it. He prefers using lamps instead of the overhead lights.
~ His fridge and cupboards would be empty of food, and he’d probably only buy things with long shelf life. When he decides to cook for himself, he’ll buy the ingredients fresh and only enough for what he’s planning on using. He’s not a fan of canned foods.
~ Hirotsu is a bit of a loner, preferring to spend his free time alone and preferably as quiet as possible.
~ He is a hygienic man. He values cleanliness in all aspects of life, and sometimes ends up bringing it up when he sees others lacking. He isn’t rude about it, however, and lets it go if it’s in a situation where it can’t be rectified immediately.
~ Hirotsu sleeps. Once he’s out, he’s out. He values his sleep and will never pass up the opportunity for a good night of rest. He’s an early riser, and doesn’t like wasting his mornings.
