Decided it was time for new, updated art for Aura C Clarke, my bsd OC! Their design hasn't changed, I just wanted clean art and a little ability ref sheet 😤they also have an ArtFight now oops teehee~

Some notes on personality and abilities under the cut!

Aura C Clarke (inspired by Arthur C Clarke, but enby style). They/them. They are a gifted American living in Yokohama.

They have a somewhat grumpy disposition as a nonbinary, fem-passing individual working as a software developer at Manhassett Security (which is the place Francis takes over in season 3), which inevitably leads them to face both xenophobia and misogyny to some degree. They are a top performing developer and command respect these days, but if they need to argue to prove that they're correct they will. They're known as being smart and capable and someone you don't screw with, but who is open to opposing opinions as long as they are presented appropriately and without any condescension or rudeness.

Their closest friend is HAL9000, who is simultaneously their creation and a part of their ability, and he is a sentient AI that they programmed (do NOT compare my boy to chatgpt or some shit, he is ALIVE in part due to Aura being a kickass programmer and in part due to their ability allowing them to give life to electronics, which they use exclusively for HAL). He's sort of like their child more than a friend - he is always learning a lot from them. He's like personal assistant, very smart, but also wants Aura to explain romance to him not because he feels it but because he /doesn't/ and finds it fascinating. He can jump between various technologies, but tends to live in Aura's smart watch and phone, as well as their interior home cameras/appliances.

Aura is shipped with Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald. Their dynamic is very much that Aura is tsundere and easily flustered, and Francis is his annoying self and very eager to fluster them. (as an aside, I hc him and his wife as having an open relationship, and I have some thoughts about why that's fitting given the focus on the Great Gatsby regarding his character development).

Their powers are HEAVILY based on 2001: A Space Odyssey and the other 3 books in the series and you can get a loose feel for those on the sketch sheet I did for that which is in Aura's gallery. Primarily they can summon solid black monoliths which are rectangles with a ratio of 1:4:9. Their size can be anything as long as they match that ratio. That said, small ones are easier to summon (hence being able to summon many to use as a smokescreen or irritant, and in this case HAL controls them) and large ones are more difficult. The largest one that can be summoned is Sprach Zarathustra. Sprach Zarathustra can create a hypnosis effect. It is /most/ effective against a single person, but can potentially incapacitate a few individuals at once. All it does against enemies is essentially knock them unconscious while it's in effect, but Aura can't summon other monoliths while Sprach Zarathustra is up. It's /true/ purpose is to hypnotize and feed information directly into the brain, which is something that HAL does. Aura uses it on themself to learn things like how to speak Japanese, or how to fight (though in this case they still need to practice and build up muscle mass to be able to do these things). It can be used this way on other people, but Aura tends not to do this.

All of this leads them to have a very exciting fighting style that involves a lot of parkour and aerial assaults.

(Bungou Stray Dogs OCs) I haven’t finished the series, no spoilers-

Ngl one of the main reasons I started watching/reading the series is because I wanted to know if HC Andersen and Charles Dickens were characters so I could make them in gay love. And they don’t exist yet so I made them. And in gay love. Because it would make Charles Dickens roll in his grave.

For those that don’t know Charles Dickens despised HC Andersen after Andersen was invited to the Dickens’ household and overstayed his welcome. Dickens referred to him as a miserable man, although Andersen thought the stay was pleasant. Apparently Andersen cried on their front lawn after receiving a bad review on his latest book. Personally I love HC Andersen and his stories. I was hoping he was a character already.

Anyway, the BSD versions here are in gay love. I think they’re part of a European group of stand I mean gift users. The group does heists probably, and Charles does most of the intel stuff with his gift and Hans does the distraction part with his.
