I am thoroughly confused about ppl saying that Fyodor will use Fukuchi's body as a weapon/possess him, because shouldn't Fukuchi be the one to kill Fyodor in order for that to happen??? Fyodor's the one who stabbed him, that doesn't activate his ability... I AM CONFUSION-

YES!!! Let's theorize about Fyolai.
Hmm you start off this time! I honestly have no clue where to begin with them.
alr!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i cannot stop thinking about these panels.
ANYWAYS,
Tumblr media
i think this page is a good starting point!
the difference between fyodor and nikolai’s reactions are getting me honestly. Fyodor looks way more amused than Nikolai was in the anime. I know it’s been said a lot before, but he look sadish?? disappointed maybe? i cant exactky tell. he’s feeling something for sure though.
I saw somebody else say something like this in another post when the chapter first came out but, what if Nikolai is realizing Fyodor didn’t understand him as well as he thought he did initially?
Like, Nikolai’s whole thing is freedom, he hates servitude, etc. Fyodor was really frustrated, and over the whole thing this chapter. He even kicked Nikolai’s radio, that he brought for him. (i’m still holding that against him, the doa is really against radios for some reason, first Bram, now Nikolai?? let them have their radioes 🥲)anyways, getting a bit sidetracked, I honestly doubt Nikolai would’ve stayed with Fyodor if he knew he was being manipulated or used.
i think Nikolai may have realized a small thing or two about his relationship with Fyodor.

BSD MANGA SPOLIERS CHAPTER 114 LEAKS
What the fuck do you mean we got that heat wrenching shit with Nikolai and his visceral fucking grief and confusion with Fyodor and his death and his feeling and that entire scene with the whole ‘god has forsaken me shit for FYODOR TO BE FUCKING. I DONT EVEN KNOW. HOW THE SHIT IS THAT NOT FYODOR’S CORPSE IN THAT HELICOPTER. Asagiri you better give us a proper explanation and then actually kill someone you better fucking do it. Also tell us what the FUCK. Higuchi’s ability is. And where literally everyone is. It’s been actual years since we’ve seen major characters what the fuck

I'm honestly pretty confused by people saying things like "we've lost the plot" in regard to bsd, or saying it's suddenly become bad. if you don't like the way fyodor acts, how have you put up with all the other antagonists in this series? if you don't like the science and physics stuff, I hope you haven't read stormbringer! if you don't like the "death-baiting," I hate to break it to you but asagiri has always messed around with characters and revived dead people. yosano's ability was literally designed for that. a few chapters that seem to drag on aren't losing the plot, we just don't have the context for them yet. 121.5 wouldn't have been as amazing as it was if we hadn't had the build-up, right?
bsd might not be what you expect from it. but we're all along for the crazy ride, and don't understand the act of giving up on it or insulting it because we can't yet see where it's going.

Naomi is actually an antagonist
Most people have different theories about Naomi from BSD, so I thought I'd put my opinion in.
First off, Naomi is NOT an author like the rest of the BSD cast. Her namesake comes from Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's novel 'Naomi'. I'm going to be speculating about the connection between the novel and the BSD character, but I actually haven't read the novel myself. I'm taking my information from the summary.
The two members of the Armed Detective Agency without an author's namesake are Naomi and Haruno. (As seen down below)
Tumblr media
Both are characters from the novel 'Naomi'. I'm just going to be focusing on Naomi for now, as she plays a bigger role in the novel and in the BSD plot, so I have a better understanding of the character.
Anyways. Naomi and Tanizaki's relationship has never really made sense to me. Asagiri is known for humanising his characters and making sure that all of them have motives, even some antagonists. For example...
Mori, although as asshole of a character, has an overarching need for the greater good. Although he has made some pretty hurtful decisions to get there, it's with a 'good' cause in mind
Fitzgerald wanted the book to revive his daughter to try and piece back together his family by improving his sick wive's mental state
I know this doesn't really apply to Fyodor and Fukuchi, but I have no doubt that by the end of the arc, their actions will have some sort of reasoning to them.
So WHY did he write Naomi and Tanizaki into some sort of seemingly incestuous relationship? Either or both of the scenarios below could explain their actions:
They're faking their romantic intentions
They're fake siblings
It still doesn't answer the question of what their relationship adds to the plot. It could be written with the intention of humour in the end, but Asagiri has stated in an interview that he's a fan of Chekhov’s Gun (the principle that all elements of a story are essential), which means he most likely wrote their relationship with a specific intention.
Tumblr media
If Naomi holds a similar characterisation to the novel she is from, then her relationship with Tanizaki might not be as caring as it is made out to be.
In the novel, the character Naomi is actually the antagonist. The protagonist is an older man who becomes obsessed with Naomi and her Westernised personality. (Note: the book is set in post ww2 when America took part in the colonisation of Japan and thus became a large part of the culture there.)
The protagonist, a salaryman named Jōji, plans to gradually groom 15-year-old Naomi when they meet at a cafe. Her true nature is revealed to be incredibly manipulative. She eventually reverses the power imbalance and Jōji ends up completely submitting to her every whim.
This makes me question her role in the plot of BSD. Especially now that we actually haven't seen her in a long time (the entire Decay of Angels arc). Most BSD characters are based on the protagonists of their novels (Oba Yozo and Dazai), if not the author themselves.
Naomi being represented by the Antagonist makes me wonder if she is in fact a threat to Tanizaki. I would say that she is an ability, but Dazai has touched her before, so it's been confirmed she isn't. Could she be made by the book? Is she controlling Tanizaki, a mastermind in disguise? I think there must be more to her character than we see, or else Asagiri wouldn't have written her in.
Tumblr media
she looks kind of sinister in the manga yknowww...

So, what happens to the charecters whose age is not specified or mentioned like Fyodor and Sigma.
Characters, whose age isn't specified mess with game files, to 'set their age in stone'.
All characters can 'feel', what age they are, despite their age not being revealed. To be fair, not knowing their exact age is the least of their problems (not remembering their past, family members, likes, dislikes), they didn't want their 'unknown' age to become a problem. So, they find a way to deal with it. They mess with some game files, adding an invisible (for Reader) R cards, where they put their ages.
There is a restriction, age must be logical. From revealed past point (Fukuchi can't put, that he is twenty), from physical and mental points (Sigma can't put, that he is three years old).
Both Sigma and Fyodor have a 'feeling' of their ages (at least, 20+)
So, both of them add an age from this 'gaps' in the special R cards.
And, it does work, because, if, after getting into the real world, Sigma and Fyodor will take a full medical check up, it will show, that they are the same age they put in Info R cards.
BSD Cast mess quite a lot with Game Files. They not only add more cards (reviving dead characters in a process), but also put some changes to their abilities.
Example: Yosano added, that her ability can heal internal injuries and fatal diseases.

BSD fanfic idea:
Vampire Akutagawa dies when Atsushi strikes him, shattering his face as he uses his ability. Regret immediately dawns on Atsushi as he realizes he has killed the man. However, he doesn’t have much time to dwell on it, as bigger problems demand his attention.
After Fyodor is defeated, Atsushi finds a scrap of paper from the book. Burdened by the guilt he feels every day, he uses the page, believing it will revive Akutagawa. Instead, it transports him to another universe, where he finds himself in the world of Beast.

A lil Fyodor theory after chap 113 ✨
Hey! For those who already read the chapter 113 of bsd... Fyodor has a scar right? And I won't even bring back alllll the theories that explains he's alive and why on the table... But let's say Fyodor is immortal.
In the present he has the same face as in the untold origins and we're all on point to say he doesn't age. And if he died in Bram's castle, he probably revived in some kind of way right? But there are many kinds of immortals in fiction, and I think that Fyodor isn't the type that heals, at least not exactly. There are two possibilities I'd like to explore :
maybe reincarnate with a whole new body...
his body's 'time' just turns back* to a precise point : the point of his 'first' life (well he isn't dead but you get it) when he looked like he always do. The scar would just disappear as his body turns back to its 'reset point', and he'd certainly grow a new arm.
*For further detail on the logic of that, just search into Eri's power in MHA
As for what happens to the old body or the sectiones arm, we don't have any clues to figure that out yet.
But if the 2nd possibility is true, does that mean his mind too turns back to the reset point? Or does it just exist underneath as a checkpoint to 'when' the body should turn back? Either way, that would mean a part himself is still the way it was at that time.
But seeing Fyodor as we know him, I dont think he forgets what happened prior to his 'death'. Which implies that both state of mind coexist within him : the him from that point of his life, and the him from the present. Doesn't that remind you of something?
Yes. His ability.
He's much different from the Fyodor we're used to, and a lot of people's reaction when seeing him in chap 107 was "He looks so innocent! ". And that would make sense! I mean, it's his ability that brings him back to the checkpoint... So wouldn't it also be his ability's role to keep a trace of 'what' he's supposed to turn back into?
Thanks for reading!
PS: idk if some of you read or watch Undead Unluck, but it's kinda like Andy and Victor : the old one is brought back sometimes and the two of them coexist without getting along

Give me your take, is Fyodor dead? I'm panicking
HAHA I KNEW WE'D HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS
THANK YOU
But anyways, from me it's an absolute no.
I'm not worried, to be honest. I mean, with BSD I hardly am, 'cause it's not a series where main cast characters die just like that. But as for Fyodor in particular...
Tumblr media
His storyline isn't over at all, so the story isn't at a point where it can release him yet. That's the biggest sign. For his storyline to be covered and wrapped up, there are a couple of things that have yet to come up.
Plot point 1: We've had a huge, huge buildup to unveiling the mystery of his ability. It's been dangled before us for so long, it'd be suuuuper counter-intuitive to get rid of him before the big reveal. Of course, the fact that it was kept unsaid all this time leads me to think what his ability is will be the key piece of some puzzle or another.
Maybe it has to do with immortality/revival, thematically keeping his likeness to a god or godlike figure. Maybe trading life. Maybe something dealing with blood itself. Could be a million things, that might as well ensure his survival here.
Only Sigma would know now, right?
Plot point 2: Asagiri has, so far, not left any of his villains' motivations hidden. Everyone gets their time in the spotlight to expose why they were doing what they were doing, from Mori to Fitz to Guide to Shibusawa to Fukuchi to everyone.
At this point, we don't know Fyodor's motivations beyond a shallow level. He hasn't yet exposed why he sees ability users as such sinful beings. We don't know his story, background or anything about him - we just plain don't know a thing about the guy, haha.
That's my reasoning. But, a couple of observations I'd add:
Fyodor doesn't like to lose. He also hasn't shown an inclination to dying at all (he enjoys that Nikolai wants to try it, but that's different), he has his great mission to accomplish. Would he really look peaceful as he asks the lord why he's forsaken him?
Other than that, how convenient is it that the recognizable, bandaged arm was what came out of the wreckage? It's so perfectly convincing, but so scarce.
This one's a bit more could-be-couldn't-be, but Nikolai was really quiet and out of shot while the helicopter was taking off and crashing. Next moment we see him, he's clearly in a state of emotional shock. How early did the shock of realizing maybe he will lose Fyodor right now set in? Would he have had time to do anything, in a panicked moment? This one's very "maybe not, probably not", but I'm throwing it out here.
But, one last thought: the scene took place at night, the night of the full moon, when the Page was supposed to come into action. Fukuchi was executed at sunset, but Fyodor "died" at night. Could anything be happening behind the scenes at that time?
I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this stuff!
Thanks for the question anyways, I'm really happy to be talking bout BSD again!! YOU GUYS MAKE ME FEEL SO AT HOME.

Remember when Count Saint Germain took a different form and revived the authors Bram Stoker and Ryunosuke Akutagawa just to turn Adam into a Servamp? No?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I just realized that all vampires in BSD are actually technically Servamps🥰🥰🥰🥰💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
So you are saying that, Count Saint Germain has a formula?
Hyde = William Shakespeare
Kuro = Stoker and Akutagawa
Fyodor, I mean Tsubaki = Kenji
Woah, okay smart ahhh.
I did all this simply because Kuro and Jouno share the same voice actor and now it has rotted by brain🥰🥰🥰🥰

I HATE BEAST BENEATH THE MOONLIGHT
ahem, warning for atsushi critical, negative? whatever it is, its not good, some of this post might be hard to read. this has to be one of the weakest powers I've ever seen in BSD, it should be impossible to be the MC and be this dogwater, im not even gonna use the episodes, in chapter 1 Looking the Gift Tiger in the Mouth he doesn't know he's the tiger which okay, whatever, then come around chapter 4, the LAST TIME, I REPEAT THE LAST TIME WE HIM TRANSFORM INTO THE TIGER, THE TIGER THAT CAN TELEPORT THROUGH TIME AND SPACE, THAT CAN DISTORT SPACES, WE NEVER SEE THAT POWER AGAIN, WHY? I DONT KNOW. All we get this is ugly, horrible power that is only able to be uplifted by (my goat) Akutagawa, and ill glaze because he puts in that work, and Asagiri knows he puts in that work, that's why he gets to be revived and actually fight against Fyodor instead of the LITERAL MC, whos on the ground crying and heaving "give me my friends back" bffr, its not even his character i like his character ITS THE WAY HE CAN BARELY USE HIS POWER TO ITS TRUE ABLITY AFTER THIS LONG IN THE MANGA AND HOW USELESS HE IS IN BATTLE. The Guild Arc, the only way he can defend Fitzgerald IS WITH AKUTAGAWA, The Cannibalism Arc, the only way he can actually do something in the fight IS THANKS TO AKUTAGAWAS POWER, THATS THE ONLY WAY HE CAN CUT THROUGH TIME AND SPACE AGAIN, WHY? WHY WHEN HE ALREADY HAS THIS ABLITY AS THE TIGER, WHY DOESNT HE KNOW HOW TO TRANSFORM INTO THE TIGER AFTER THIS LONG!! And don't get me started on how this mf acts in battle, he can't do anything, Akutagawa has to make all the plans, Akutagawa has to literally tell him what to do because he's so useless without him, Dazai knows it so bad he had to bargain with Akutagawa to go save "his better half" BE SO FOR REAL!! ATSUSHI CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT AKUTAGAWA, why do they even keep this guy around, for pity? (im being sarcastic here) Because your younger members put in more work than he ever will alone, they can hold their own. And I was proven right in 119, because Fyodor says it for me!
Tumblr media
then this guy has the audacity knowing he had THE ULIMATE POWER TO SAVE EVERYONE to beg the MAIN VILLIAN, THE ONE WHO KILLED ALL HIS FRIENDS "oh please save them ill do anything" CLEARLY NOT, CLEARLY YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING.
Tumblr media
then back in comes my goat to save the day because of course he does, because this isn't bungo stray dogs with the main character as atsushi, its bungo stray dogs with akutagawa carrying this guy on his back 24/7, THE GUY DIES AND HE HAS TO COME BACK TO LIFE TO SAVE ATSUSHI FROM DYING FROM FYODOR BECAUSE HES SO USELESS. And I already know people are going to be talking about his trauma is the tiger, yes, I know atsushi's trauma with the tiger, i DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT HATE ATSUSHI AS A CHARACTER, he's actually very high on my list BUT THE WAY HE USES HIS POWER IS SO ASS, theres no way that he never figured out how to tap into the tiger side, what we just get one taste of it? THATS IT? i cant. wow do i repeat myself a lot in this

Okay I’m back I’ve caught up on the BSD chapters now that I know there’s no January chapter. And I’m just ://
Like it’s interesting I still wanna see how this is all going to end both this arc and the entire manga. So it hasn’t been ruined for me. But it is a painful process! Why does Atsushi have negative character development, why are we supposed to care about the fake out deaths that we’ve been experiencing since day 1, why is Akutagawa almost literally a whole new person that’s not character development or growth that’s the lazy cheap way of doing it so you don’t have to actually show the character’s internal struggles as he changes and show it over time (hopefully this is temporary). How Fyodor is being handled is fine, I don’t see anything contradicting what was previously established but I can see why fans such as yourself who liked him for certain reasons might be disappointed
you n me both on the :// vibe 🤝
this is so painful to watch you're so right, like I don't care if a story goes through plotlines that are rough to sit through for emotional reasons but this shit is hard to sit through for craftsmanship reasons....fr though why is atsushi going backwards...I know people regress into old habits and crutches but if you're gonna do that at least show the struggle with having to regress like that and fighting against what you default into vs what you yearn to become...atsushi just feels so flat at this point and he's supposed to be the mc aghhhhhh
SAME WITH AKUTAGAWA TOO I AGREE. he feels more like a plot device at this point rather than an actual character with genuine flavor to him this is so depressing bro. his chronic illness was supposed to be something that would hurt and now that he's been revived a billion times and everyone else has lived and died a shitload no death, injury, or illness feels meaningful. mortality has no weight anymore which is terrible for a manga that discusses humanity and mortality as a central theme
sigh I will forever beef with asagiri on how fyodor is being done but honestly to each their own, let's hope together this arc works itself out for god's sake
feel free to send in more of your bsd thoughts, I still really enjoy this media despite the thing it's become
