here are my favorite things i did this year :) thank you for tagging me @madeofcc <3
i was just gonna make a simple post and for some reason i decided to make this whole thing i guess, even features my stupid handwriting lol. everything written above + some more thoughts down below so you don't have to decipher whatever i wrote, also links to everything. thanks for following my messy blog and allowing me to rant about splatoon every other day lmao love u friends
harmony my beloved
i love splatoon ok! i've tried to recreate a few different splatoon characters before but they don't really translate well to sims. however i love how my harmony turned out! she's my fav character in the game and i'm quite proud of this funky little edit :)
leaf carrying a plant she stole
as soon as i saw that pose i knew i had to use it with my girl leaf! simple edit, but very cute <3 i wanna post more about my nymph!!!!!
what is this? a crossover episode????????
bojack horseman is my fav show ever. when i saw the horse pack trailer i KNEW i had to make this silly joke :p i didn't expect it to get so much attention but i'm glad it did! fun facts: 1) i painted bojack's face in game but basically redid the whole thing in photoshop bc sims textures are uh bad. 2) i recolored pc's dress and god i wish i could've made something better lmao. 3) i converted mr. pb's glasses and i SUFFERED. they actually look terrible ingame but ✨photoshop magic✨
this edit of an alien oc that i need to name still
i don't really use alpha hairs but ain't this one cute?! and i love this edit! if you read this give me a name suggestion for this sim please
YES THAT'S HAPPENING
I LOVE JUNO BIRCH!!! i literally need to stop myself from making another juno post every time she posts anything online lol. but that hot dog costume is iconic, what can i say.
sims in the city, baby + everything i made about them
i've been wanting to recreate these guys ever since i joined simblr back in 2019 (jesus christ) and i finally did! i'm very proud of them and happy so many people like them :) i loved this game growing up but none of my friends played it, so it's really cool to see more people who played it too!
also, that roxanna moxie lookbook i did? peak fashion
GRAP3FRUIT!
these guys!!!!!!!!! i really wanted to make a silly little band since forever and kari's edgewave fest finally pushed me to make them and I LOVE THEM! i can't wait to keep making more stuff with them babyyyyyyyyaskldjalskhdfklasj

Sorry if u been asked this before but what brushes do u use? And what app 😭🔥 also ur art is DIVINE 🙏🙏
Oh my gosh thank you, you're so sweet! I can answer all of that in a convoluted little tutorial I shall give now without anyone asking~
I use Autodesk Sketchbook for Windows, as it is free and versatile enough for a digital art babychild like me to adapt. Here's a basic run-through of my work process:
Sketching:
As a self-employed rule, lineart is fucking dead to me and I'll never use it because it'll always show off my shaky hand and blase drawing style as less of a quirk and more of a deficiency. Sketching however is my best friend in the whole world and I'll usually use a thin rough pencil brush (see above) to keep a traditional look about it. I'm oldschool what can I say.
Colouring:
Although for the example work I actually dove right into building tones without adhering to my usual system, I always use the stock paintbrush to fill in the form. Call me a troglodyte because I certainly am one, but hey it gets the job done, and I can always have fun later with the groovier brushes.
Now this is my favourite part, making the form look less like an unevolved slime worm was here, by utilizing the super ultra groovy brushes, like my favourite two shown here (and usually the only two I'll bother with). The Synthetic flat bristle brush I use as a substitute for the blending tool (another one I heavily depend on in the stock brush phase), because it makes the work look less manufactured and more real, like a real life human did it. Typically, I use it for hair and clothes, but sometimes skin too, when I want it looking raw.
And the rake brush! Not a single work of mine will be without it, I'm fully obsessed, and I'll use it wherever I can get away with. It looks fantastic with hair and using it as a soft highlight.
Editing:
Actually I lied, THIS is my favourite phase. Editing baby!
Although a brush isn't involved in this stage I'll mention it anyway to shout out Photopea, which is a free online photoshop substitute with nearly all of the same features, without that hefty pricetag. I use it to enhance or muck around with colours and tones, or sometimes just for ideas. It's goddamn brilliant and I couldn't recommend it enough.
Finalising:
After playing around with values and tones, I can go back to sketchbook and finalise my work, adding anything it needs before I put my pen down and say enough. Sometimes the process is helpful because I can take a break, look back, and see elements I need to fix and improve that I didn't see before, and huzzah! She's complete!
Anywho I hope you found my drabble helpful, and someone please help me find the torrent to procreate for windows because goddamn I wanna try it so fucking bad. But not enough to let the fly out of my wallet, it's currently the only thing in it XD.

Aw @embyrinitalics you are too sweet 😊 This gets long, bear with me.
So this came about right after E3 2011 where we were first presented with the Skyward Sword demo footage that went up to the end of the Wing Ceremony race, Zelda throwing herself into your arms (“oh, so those birds are strong enough to carry two! …😏”), and interview rumors that they go flying together later 😳 And then I scribbled this in a frothing wishful lather.
Nearly a decade later, I knew I'd truly Made It when I found this art stolen for one of those "hour long music to study by" YouTubes. But they did give credit so whatever 🤷♀️
Frequently Asked Questions Comments:
"lol u cant fly at night lol" Yeah Nintendo didn't tell me that until 5 months later when the game came out 🤦♀️ Way to kill the possibilities, guys
"lol him hand big"
Yeah, it was a failed attempt at dramatic perspective. I should've drawn the bird first but no time, smooches first
"A Whole New World~ 🎵" Yes yes I know. Actually, this is the true mood song for this pic:
youtube
(Which, admittedly, the creators of that scene must've taken a lot of inspiration from the original magic carpet ride. I'll allow it)
Brush with fame:
November 2011, I got an email out of the blue from M!Games magazine ("the oldest German videogame magazine") asking to publish this piece as part of a Zelda retrospective article 😱 You what? You guys uh... sure you don't want another less shippy pic? No? Ok I'll... I'll do it...!

😱😱😱I thought it was gonna be like a feature with a collection of other fanartists not a... double page spread... 😱😱😱😱😱🤯💀
Anyway, I don't know German so I can only approximately guess at the text, but here's my original answers to their interview questions:
1. Why Legend of Zelda fanart? What I wanted to say: I wanna make the cute guy & princess kiss What I said: I think the Zelda games are particularly good at creating imaginative, atmospheric, and memorable scenes, and it's that kind of feeling that I want to express in my artworks.
2. Why did you choose to paint this particular scene? What I wanted to say: CUZ. THEY KEES What I said: The trailers and demos at E3 2011 hinting at the story of Skyward Sword really raised my excitement, and I just couldn't resist this image that popped into my head when I heard the rumor that Link was supposed to go on a date with Zelda after winning the flying competition. It probably won't happen, but maybe...!
3. What kind of tools/techniques do you use to create your artworks? What I wanted to say: I knock my head against the paper/tablet/screen until kiss come out What I said: These days I almost always work on the computer, using the programs Photoshop, Painter, and SAI, but I use the skills and techniques I learned from my background in traditional media including oil, acrylic, and watercolor paints. I like to explore different art styles often, and Legend of Zelda is particularly good for that since the games' art direction is constantly creative and evolving.
4. What is your favourite Legend of Zelda game and why? What I wanted to say: The ones where they most wanna kiss What I said: Ocarina of Time has been my long-time favorite for having such a rich, interactive world, as well as some of the most interesting and memorable characters. (It also helps that it was the first Zelda game I played through.) Although, it looks like that position might be challenged once Skyward Sword comes out!
Well, in the end, Skyward Sword didn't quite qualify as my reigning all-time favorite, but I am really glad this pic is still making its rounds making people happy :)
And I leave you with a final parting thought:
N-Noooooo... y u do dis.........
Is it kosher to post old-ass vintage art from 10 years ago? Oh well, my blog my art my rules

(It's so old that it has history now. Maybe I'll write up a director's commentary later)
So I was just browsing AO3 one day and completely randomly found that somebody wrote a fluffy lil fic based on this picture. Please go give them some love on my behalf 😄
(For more Skyward Sword art, try this one from 2021 rather than 2011)
