Astarion: Finally, we're catching up on our puppet master. And the hunt ends at Moonrise Towers.

screaming crying throwing up over this line with durge and romanced astarion on my duo run. they both start as puppets, then are free enough of their former masters to make their own choices, then they both have a choice: chain themself to their master or be free.

with durge that's either resist or become bhaal's chosen. If they resist, they're marking to certain death. To be free of Bhaal is to die, and I think they're acutely aware of that. To become his Chosen is to extend the amount of time they live, but they know it won't truly be living, if they live their life in service to another.

with astarion it's to break the cycle of abuse and be more than what nearly 200 years of empathy-breaking hell - Sisyphus pushing up the boulder but make it seducing people, eating rats and insects, night after night, knowing everyone you touch is doomed to die - made him OR unchain himself to everything Cazador did by killing Cazador without ascending, allowing him the safety of his abuser being gone so he can finally start feeling and healing without the ever-present threat of becoming a slave to Cazador again.

Their romanced "bad" endings all require someone to become the other's puppet. If Durge becomes Bhaal's Chosen, they force Astarion back into servitude and make him no more than a puppet after taking over the Absolute to start slaughtering the world in Bhaal's name. If Astarion Ascends, Durge either agrees to the loss of their independence and personhood by becoming a spawn OR the relationship falls apart.

I don't have anything else to say I'm just screaming about this lmao

#bat plays bg3 #there is one single way to keep astarion and NOT become his spawn #but you have to go from Cazador directly to end-game #like you ascended astarion then went to the morphic pool instead of doing a long rest #but at that point he has no option but to play along bc he still wants to keep tav/durge near him #he's obsessed with them AND he covets their power #and he knows without the tadpole OR having them as his spawn #he can't really do anything except keep playing a role until he convinces player to become his spawn #iirc in the ending he discusses turning them and #the implication is it's just a matter of time #he also clearly isn't afraid to forcefully change companions at a future time #the thought is there in his origin ascended ending #also the other companions too have the interplay of #they're desperately trying to free themselves from being in service of gods/powers who treat them like pawns #but i'm struggling with words rn #just know karlach and astarion literally are foils #astarion #bg3 #durge

Who do y'all think Time'll handcuff to him be with for his group in the dungeon? I've seen a lot of people say he will try to control who goes with who since he's scared for their lives rn (valid)

The options are the individual boys, just go with who you think is most likely to be in his group I guess?

Anyways like I said I've never done a poll so it might be messed up or make no sense, should be fun :D

I think that unlike when they split in the Divine Dark Reflections arc, they might try to stay in bigger groups, and I think Time would probably want to have as many close to him as possible (his group have three or four), but I uhh didn't know how to incorporate that.

It's silly, but right now I can't stop imagining a scene where they reach the central room and everyone sprints off into the groups they want before time can argue.

Anyone who goes with legend will survive physically and anyone who goes with four will survive mentally.

people responding to that one poll like "being 14 is the worst time in your life" lmao bro i wish that were me and my experience. i swear every year is so much worse than the last. 14 was a joke compared to what i have to endure now.

#although 15-17 were also uniquely bad for me bc of the whole my mom committing child abandonment and just straight up leaving my sister and #me in a home alone as minors and not coming back. and then eventually being sent to live with our abusive dad once the police found out. an #then my mom full on fucking died right after we reconnected. and my sister and i could not escape our dad's abusive home for another ten #years yeehaw. but yeah everything in between has been so fucking horrible. i still can't escape poverty. and then i became permanently #disabled at 31 from a freak accident making me even more poor bc my ability to work is so limited. and my disability has ruined literally #every single facet of my life because everything is just pain now. all of it. i can't even paint without being in severe pain anymore.#so idk 14 sounds pretty good right about now.#anyway!!!! there's only a small fraction of the hardships i've endured and i'm in a very bad mental state rn so i just needed to like #word vomit some of my thoughts and struggles i guess?

i think i'm gonna try one of those weekly meal prep delivery services because genuinely at this point trying to plan meals every week and setting aside the time to grocery shop and prep and cook and all that shit is really getting to me and it's not lookin good here folks lol

man they really weren't kidding when they said the grief of late diagnosed autism hits hard oooh boy did it hit fucking hard today

#my evaluation isn't til February 🙃😵‍💫🥴#but my therapist and doctor are both like yep and my bf professionally works with autistic people and he's like you're super autistic dude #anyways super fun to find out that I'm literally blind to so many important parts of human nature and socialization #and by being blind to it I've also been completely blind to who knows how many times I've unintentionally hurt other people's feelings #I'm almost 27 and my bf is having to explain to me how to participate in a relationship #and it turns out not everyone is afraid and scared of everything all the time #and the grief of like I needed so much help and never got it #and looking back on my struggles and like fuck I needed accommodations #it's insane no one said anything about autism (to my face) until I met my bf #I've had at least 2 psyc evals in the past few years and also have seen several therapists and was in a whole therapy program #and like I had a LOT of the signs as a kid and even had to learn to hold my pencil #my sister and I suspect our parents were told but our mom has a big aversion to the autism word even tho my nephew is being assessed rn #and that kid is helllaaaa autistic #anyways ok thanks for reading love u bye
