i feel like poolverine easily could’ve been one of those “they’re flirty but it’s mostly unserious” situations, and for most of the movie yeah they were extremely gay, but wade’s been like that with other guys and it was never treated as a serious type of relationship before. they’re willing to die for each other, but even then the romantic aspect of their relationship could be glossed over because it’s a superhero movie, that’s just what they do, and they’re working together to save a whole timeline—it’s not just about them. but then the movie doesn’t end with them saving the day and moving on. i think this’s really the part that sells poolverine as a genuine relationship to me… logan’s leaving, and wade calls for him. he can’t stand to let him go. then he introduces him to his family, and logan stays. he doesn’t really need to stay, but they’ve both decided they’re better off with one another than without

damian follows her tumblr + ao3 acc. he did it to figure out her secret identity but she all she does is post about anime & write precure fanfiction. he does NOT find anything useful except what she believes is the Correct Ships for sailor moon

they discuss anime together. while tala leans more to the magical show genre, she enjoys shoujo. and with a lot magical anime girls being apart of the shoujo genre they are able to bond >:3 she makes damian watch anime and unlike hal, he’s able to follow up with what’s going on. she gets so excited about that and declares him as her “best friend” (he refuses the title but can’t help but feel warm and fuzzy inside)

being the youngest in the family… they complain about older siblings. while tala only has one, that one is equal to damian’s 5… her sister makes fun of her interest in anime (despite watching it with her in the past. so, if anything, her sister is a hypocrite)

damian actually enjoys some of the fanfiction she wrote. he actually makes fanart for her works. and when they get older & tala needs a job… she becomes an author and damian (who wants an outlet for his superhero work bc that shit is stressful!) is an illustrator for her works

i imagine they’d meet thru being apart of a team together, all with heroes their own age and NOT friends with damian’s other family members bc i’m tired of him being friends with characters that were initially the other batfamily’s teams (kory for jason, raven for damian, etc)

it’s great for both of them because neither have worked with a team before outside of their own mentors (hal jordan or bruce wayne/dick grayson) with other members they’re challenged to work with new ppl (which u often deal with in life threatening emergencies) + learn from each other

i don’t mind if people hate characters like aiden and romeo honestly … tis their business and they, especially romeo, have done some deplorable things!!! but. the uptake of ‘they’re unfeeling monsters’ ‘they’re sociopaths’ ‘they’re inhuman’ sentiments about two characters that are very obviously mentally ill does indeed rub me the worng way lol. i do not think you have to like or forgive characters to show them an ounce of compassion and to avoid oddly ableist sentiments … and also i just find those opinions to be such a gross misread of aiden’s and romeo’s characters. i’d argue that they felt too much and that’s what landed them in hot waters ; their too sensitive feelings and their inability to control themselves and learn healthy coping mechanisms.

maybe i wouldn’t have such a problem with this if it weren’t for some of the horrible sentiments i see about petra’s whole deal in s2 as well. so many people loathe her for … having a fear of abandonment and acting irrationally? struggling to find herself and keep jesse at the same time, so she thus resorts to lying and living a double life to try and have it all and nothing? this is never to excuse the things petra says or how much she hurts people, although to see her obvious struggles with love, self worth, and losing people be met with apathy and simple ‘get over it’s is a bit baffling. it is almost like everyone in mcsm must be lukas, who notoriously represses his emotions and doesn’t share them … which, honestly, isn’t healthy either. but lukas’s rough emotional state is more palatable than petra’s. it is easier because it’s non intrusive. it’s accepted, frankly.

anyway! this is a jumble of thoughts. but oh well. i just … the way some people treat aiden, romeo, and petra is really tragic to see lol. the fact that ships with aiden and romeo are considered ‘toxic’ immediately no matter if it’s post canon and post redemption … it’s as if they are incapable of love and healthy relationships and making better choices, and thus, having better lives. for a game as oddly compassionate as mcsm i am very 😔 about it all. and, as someone with a cluster b disorder and various mental illnesses that don’t show in good and accepted ways, it kinda paints a picture that isn’t exactly friendly.

I was reading abt Maximillian I today, the second Habsburg emperor, bcs ive prev read about his father who I think is very interesting. But omg somehow this guy is even more interesting, but in a completely different way(I like his father Frederick III bcs I think his life is very funny ooc, but Maximilian I is genuinely really cool!) Also it's surprising to me that it took me this long to read about him, considering I very vividly remember seeing his portrait in a museum in Vienna. It's weird looking at it being used as the display pic for his wiki page bcs im like ...I've seen that in real life omg....

He's referred to as "The Last Knight"(as well as being nicknamed "Heart of Steel") And god I love now having random knowledge, cause I'm reading this like "ha, how very Don Quixote of him" and then the very next line in the biography was like, historians question whether he genuinely was like a knight or if he was a Don Quixotic figure 😭😭 glad to see I was on mark. Anyways, I wonder if Cervantes knew abt this, like I wonder if him being popularized as the last knight was a widely known thing back then. It's funny how Don Quixote was written at the end of the 16th century, but even back in the beginning of the century, being a knight was still kinda an outdated thing. I like how the two views on Maximillian I are either that he was the Last Knight or the first Rennaisance prince who had Machiavellian ideals. It fits into my weird obsession w those two works(The Prince and Don Quixote)

Anyways that being said. Boy King au Fernando is def like this, except he has literally nothing to back it up djfkkglg. Like at least Maximilian I was actually out there being insane. Fernando just sits in his cozy reading room, fantasizing while reading The Prince, and commissioning suits of armor as decoration(thats what he says. The real purpose is to dress up in them so he can feel cool.) I think this is honestly a reason he goes along with the marriage. If you know anything about chromosomes, you should know that sex chromosomes are barely relevant to a person. There's a reason it's the only form of monosomy that presents in humans - you just need one X chromosome to set up some hormone systems and whatnot, and there you go, you're viable for life. I mean, Monosomy 23 isn't great for a person, they'll probably be sterile, their bone structure turns out a bit fragile, and they'll definitely need hormone therapy to properly hit puberty, but it's a life. Which is a hell of a lot better than any other form of monosomy in humans, which comes with lethal structural flaws ensuring you don't make it to birth.

Anyways, the far more common issue with sex chromosomes in Trisomy 23, and I say 'issue' in the loosest sense of the word, because honestly it's not even a problem - we have no idea how common Trisomy 23 really is, because there's basically no symptoms, and every form of it presents about the same. As in, the first case of XXY trisomy was discovered accidentally - the man who had it was getting a karyotype test done for completely unrelated reasons, and was shocked to discover he had a trisomy.

Sex chromosomes are neat like that; since they're literally designed for everyone to have an X no matter what, the way it works is that you just need to have one X chromosome, and there you go, you've got the structural information you need, you're viable for life. The other sex chromosome (or chromosomes) is just a modifier for what configuration the reproductive organs should be in. So the Y chromosome carries very little information, since it's only relevant half the time, and the X chromosome is meant to be able to work through a redundant copy, which leads to the end result where Trisomy 23 does basically nothing. Unless you've had a karyotype test done, you have no idea what's actually going on with your sex chromosomes, and neither does anyone else.

Like... come on people, they're so meaningless. Chromosome pairs are numbered from most to least important, you know; there's a reason the sex chromosomes are all the way at the end, and that's because they're barely relevant. Humans just don't have a lot of sexual dimorphism; we're a very androgynous species.

And all that stuff about Trisomy 23 stands in very sharp contrast to the other survivable forms of trisomy in humans, which is... arguably one and a half kinds. Trisomy 21 (aka Downs Syndrome) is the best known, as it's the only other form that's really viable, since it fortunately just presents as some mild structural issues - the brain's a little scrambled, and the heart has some fundamental flaws that cut about twenty years off the average lifespan. For a trisomy patient, that's incredible. If you've got Downs, you technically lost the genetic lottery, given that you had the bad luck to get either a sperm or ova cell that'd suffered a nondisjunction during the meiosis process, but I'd argue you also won the genetic lottery, because my god your existence is a miracle, we're so lucky that the 21st chromosome pair just happens to not cover anything too vital. And you're absurdly lucky that the defective sex cell that started it all just so happened to have that specific form of nondisjunction, because if any chromosome pair apart from 21 or 23 is affected by nondisjunction during meiosis, it's extremely not good.

...Then there's also Trisomy 18, which is... hard to describe. I mean, it's amazing that Trisomy 18 cases can survive until birth, but... the structural flaws are considerably more severe, so most don't last long after that. Most Trisomy 18 patients die within a week of being born. The lucky ones get a few months or years. With constant, intensive medical care and a hell of a lot of luck, a tiny handful of patients have even survived to their twentieth birthdays... but never for long after that. There's a reason why treatments for Trisomy 18 include grief counciling for the parents. It's just... it's not good. There's a reason I said Trisomy 21 is a miracle; other forms of trisomy in humans are so, so much worse.

Except for Trisomy 23, which again, barely counts, because there are no symptoms, and so we have no idea how common it really is. Are you slightly taller than average? Congratulations, you might have Trisomy 23. Or you might not, who the fuck knows. Certainly not you!

Basically my point is, chromosomes are absolutely fascinating, but the sex chromosomes are only really interesting in the context of how irrelevant they are compared to all the other chromosome pairs. They're just not doing all that much, so there's a massive amount of room for error with no real signs. All anyone knows for sure is that they have at least one X chromosome (as that's where the important information is; no X means no life), and beyond that if you haven't had a karyotype test done, it's just wild guessing. So if you're ranting about sex chromosomes being A Big Deal... congratulations, you've exposed yourself as a fucking moron that knows nothing about chromosomes. Anyone that's studied biology beyond a high school level could tell you otherwise. Rip to all you bioessentialists but I'm cooler than you.
