So I had a backstory idea for Starscream and Skyfire in my MMX inspired AU (still needs a name), and considering it’s probably gonna be a while before I get around to Starscream at this rate, might as well tell you now

Oh and also while I’m here, something I came up with after my last post. The virus infected bots ended up forming their own group, which is this universe’s version of the Decepticons. Though not all infected are part of the group, and there are also some bots there who aren’t infected at all, just here for the chaos. And then the Autobots here would be the group of bots working to take out and contain the infected bots wreaking havoc on Cybertron

Anyways, on to backstory

So I’m sticking with the g1 origin of them being a pair of scientists before the virus outbreak. And as a matter of fact, the pair eventually got assigned to study the virus and work to develop a cure, this being pretty early on in the outbreak. However, in doing so Starscream ended up getting infected himself, and eventually went haywire and destroyed the lab and all their research, leaving and eventually becoming one of the top members of the Decepticons

Skyfire was also in the destruction of the lab, and while he survived, it was also discovered he too was infected by the virus, just that it was taking longer to affect him than Starscream due to his larger size. As a result, Skyfire was put in a stasis pod to try and slow the virus’ effect (since they at least had gotten that far in their research), where he has remained ever since, with it being agreed that he won’t be reawakened until they’re sure they have a cure for the virus

This is something Skyfire agreed to, being afraid of what the virus had done to Starscream and what he himself might be capable of, especially owing to his large size. He did feel guilty that he could no longer help in finding a cure, especially now that Starscream was a victim of the virus, but he was also aware that at that point in time, they had no better option. He did also agree to allow other scientists to study his body and systems, in hopes that he could at least still contribute to the cause in some way

Starscream’s fairly certain Skyfire died, but he chooses not to think about it too much. Early casualty, he has bigger things to concern himself with now

I’m wondering how much I should incorporate Starscream’s scientist backstory in his role here. Because that’s what he was before going Decepticon in this story, and it was presumably for a long time. So should he take over more of a scientist/inventor role here? Like he can still fight, but should it be more pronounced? I’m not sure

I’m also not sure the extent of the virus’ influence on the victim’s mind. Like okay, when it first fully takes over, the victim is barely in control of their actions, very much not of sound mind and causing mayhem. But after years, because that’s how long the outbreak has been going on, how much have their systems adapted to the virus, and how much of it is the virus, or their own choices? Especially in the case of Megatron, who had his mind influenced the opposite way

But yeah, some additional thoughts I wanted to add. Drawing ain’t going as smoothly as the last page, but I do at least have a first draft of Bumblebee now. I really need to work on my anatomy I’m noticing. Maybe I’ll get around to Starscream now

Also I did this in reference to the g1 episode, the genesis of skystar, but I’m unsure definitively if skystar is here. It probably is though, at least in the past

EVEEVEE I KNOOOOOWWWWW TRUST ME I KNOOOOWWWWWWWW ☹️😫😫😫😫 There are always so many things that I want to talk about when it comes to Eclair but I'm forcing myself to stay silent every time....part of it is because I'm shy and the other part of it is because there is so much intrinsic lore that has been developing in the background that is both beat for beat canon to the existing story and lore of genshin and also WILDLY non-canon and HIGHLY dependent on you all knowing every single brain thread that has lead me to making that bit of lore...

Genuinely, Eclair's lore varies from "she was raised by her aunt Monet after her father took up work in the Fortress of Meropide" to "hey did you know that her maternal line isn't entirely human?" AND LIKE. HOW DO I EXPLAIN THAT. THE FIRST ONE CAN BE EXPLAINED, IT'S IN THE UNLOCKABLE STORY THINGS THAT ARE PART OF HER CHARACTER PROFILE BUT HER ANCESTRY??? No, we will sit here and get through her surface level lore FIRST. We will learn more about her and her struggles before she became the Head Detective and then go from there.

I realize I may not be able to easily engage with TOP lore and theories right now. For a while at least.

My thoughts are way different than most on them and I think too many are looking for a very dark and negative interpretation.

You mentioned once that Eg has both polecat and dart frog DNA, right? That implies that other clones can have more than one type of animal mixed with them. Thinking of the possibilities is exciting :)

(That is correct! Now it is time for 'Bean talks about clone OCs again!!!' (Also Bean is not a scientist, and we are using cartoon logic, so do not come at them for inaccuracy!!!)

In the most simple of terms, there are three groups that clones can be classified into! (Well, four, but we'll get into that)

The first group is clones with just a single species of animal (or plant!) spliced into their DNA, with examples being Spud (Star-Nosed Mole) and Mirtillo (Common Vampire Bat)

These guys are probably second most common! Giving clones specific traits without the risk of mixing DNAs and causing the clone to explode or something

The second group is clones with more than one set of DNA, but those animals are all the same species, ie Vitelotte having only spider DNA (Jumping Spider, Wolf Spider, Tarantula etc (side note, no specific subspecies bc there are so many spiders I do not have the spoons to look through them all and pick some out kjfdsjf)), and Mint Chip having shark DNA (Tiger Shark and Thresher Shark)

These guys are probably the most common type as they (the scientists) were giving clones specific traits from animals like the singular DNA clones, but also did not want to be limited if one type of species could do something another couldn't

And then Eg falls into the third group of having more than one set of DNA from different animals! As mentioned, she has Striped Polecat (aka African Skunk or Zorilla) and Blue Poison Dart Frog DNA! Another example, bc I need to have two examples, is BB, who is a mix of Boer Goat, African Lion, Ball Python, and King Cobra!

This group is the rarest out of the three, bc mashing together DNAs like that often resulted in failure, but that does not mean they are few and far between!

And last, but not least, special cases!!! This is the group Pep falls into, even tho he should technically be in the third group, he is packed with so many different kinds of DNA, he is very much an outlier here

And there are a few other outliers, who would also technically be in one of the previous groups, but what makes them different is that they were not purposely spliced with certain DNAs, and were the result of cross-breeding (two (or more) different clones with different DNAs making a baby), or cannibalism (eating another clone and absorbing their set(s) of DNA)

Here's the thing about pre-reset!Ravyn. They wanted to be in pediatrics when they got into medicine. They looked up to the doctor who took care of them when they were critically ill as a kid, and wanted to do the same. They wanted to be the kind, reassuring doctor with a bottle of bubbles hanging off their lanyard to blow for the kids who were scared, trapped in a hospital, facing the unknown and painful. But then they found they liked neuro, that they were good at surgery, and then conflicts with alien forces started flaring up at the edge of quadrant, and the need for pediatric neurologists was far outstripped by the need for adult emergency neurosurgeons, and they found themself in an SDF M.A.S.H. camp treating combat injuries like an assembly line of horror. Because they were too good at it to be "wasted" anywhere else- because that's where everyone told them they were needed the most.

So when they eventually end up at G.E.A.R.S. for much the same reason, side by side with people barely out of their teens- and then going to war against the Shadowscythe together... I think their ideal of pediatrics gets carried on, a little bit. They're looking at all these students who are of age, but still kids in all the ways that matter- kids who are scared, trapped in a war, facing the unknown and painful... and they're trying hard to take them under their wing. To be the doctor blowing bubbles, to encourage them to be lighthearted, and to spare what little is left of their youth. It's why they establish a such strong bond with the Reliant crew, why they take on TA positions and hold long office hours that too often turn into counseling sessions, why they take on more than their fair share of the fighting on missions, why they're constantly trying to lift everyone's spirits by making the kind of wisecracks we see from the canon hero.

Because from the very beginning, they wanted to work with kids. And this is the closest they got.
