Note
friendly neighborhood bookworm here, let’s get into this *ahem*
1. Kiss of deception trilogy by Mary E. Pearson
A princess runs away on her to live a “normal” life on the day of her arranged wedding. As she settles into her new life working at a tavern, two visitors come into her tavern. The first, is the prince she was supposed to marry. The second, is the assassin sent to kill her. They know who she is, but not who each other are. She has no idea who either of them are. Told from all three POVs
2. Dear Life by Meghan Quinn
4 strangers meet at the “Dear Life” program, where people come to get a new start at life, where they are ready to face obstacles together, fight their demons, and to prove their existence. Told from all 4 POVs. (This book wrecked me at the end)
3. The simple wild by K.A. Tucker (series)
Calla is a city girl that attempts to reconnect with her estranged pilot father in the Alaskan Wild after learning that he doesn’t have much time left. She has a difficult time adjusting, and is constantly clashing with the grumpy but cute pilot Jonah. She is determined to prove Jonah wrong and prove she’s not too pampered to handle what Alaska throws at her.
4. What hurts us by Maggie Gates (series)
Fake engagement trope between a cop and a nurse. Callum (the cop) is trying to stop his grandma from setting him up with women and stop the advances from a determined former date. Layla (the nurse) is new to town when she saves Callum from an accident, and doesn’t date cops. But when she is left with no other place to stay, Callum offers her a deal she can’t refuse. She can stay with him if she pretends to be his fiancé to deter his grandmother and prevent Callum from receiving any unwanted attention from his former date. (Both POVs)
( seriously love this series. The plot twists alone)
5. The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams
Bree is in love with her best friend, Nathan, who is a star quarterback. One night, she has a little too much tequila and slips this bit of information to a reporter. Now the whole world thinks they’re perfect together, and his agent decides to have them fake date for three weeks until the Super Bowl, and per her contact, she can’t tell anyone! So while Bree is fighting her feelings to stop the lines from blurring so their friendship can stay intact…Nathan seems determined to blur those lines and fight for a different outcome. (Dual POVs, this book is literally so sweet and so funny omg)
ahhhh thank you for the recs!!

the trip was really good but also we couldn't get home on monday cause pearson shut down from the crash, and the flight yesterday looked dicey for me cause it got overbooked, and since callum was operating the flight home, he would have to leave me behind in san diego alone to try and catch wednesday's flight. but it turns out, so many ppl miss their flight that i got on, which is insane to me but like i am not complaining.

Burnie 2 Ch D SF: Kody Pearson/Blake Blaydon def. Alex Bolt/Luke Saville [2] 6-1, 6-4 Match Stats
Tumblr media
📸 ATP official website
Throughout most of this match, the problematic net game cost A. Bolt/Luke the match. This happened due to the pacing K. Pearson/B. Bayldon imposed, passing the latter through the net numerous times, while sometimes lobbing their way to showcase their successful point construction. This helped them generating 7 break points, breaking thrice compared to A. Bolt/Luke, who were unable to break after the former went clutch in some occasions.
On the other hand, it turned out both pairs had their own service game strengths. In this case, the unseeded home pair won 21% more points from their first serves with a 82% winning percentage despite both pairs scoring one ace along the way. However, their second serves almost let them down despite double-faulting just once, falling 8% behind the second seeds, but it appeared that their first serves alone was sufficient to get them out of trouble at times.
In their maiden Challenger doubles final appearance as a pair, K. Pearson/B. Bayldon will face fourth seeds Benjamin Lock/Yuta Shimizu, who previously stunned first seeds Callum Puttergill/Blake Ellis 7-6(6), 6-2 in another competitive match, thus denying an all-Australian final possibility. Knowing both pairs, this could build an exciting final, with their balance being tested throughout the match. This better deliver in one way or another.

Your mutuals as preston players 💕
Emma. @dancefaeries - Paul Gallagher. The dad of the team. He’s been around forever and so knows the club inside out. He’s there for wisdom and guidance and knows his way around the pitch. He’s always there to stand up for the youngens and knows when to pull people away if they’re getting too involved. Like Paul, Emma is always there to give advice and encouragement. Similarly, she’s also Ben Pearson (aka Mr Yellow Card), she’s learned from the best (Eric Dier) and will defend her friends whenever they need it. She speaks her mind and is at times, brutally honest. Personally I wouldn’t like to see Emma on a football pitch because it would be Crop City. She’d definitely cut a bitch if necessary.
Chlo. @forza-atleti - Patrick Bauer. The giant. The one you can rely on. He cleans up the mess when everyone else fucks up and he prevents any mess that Declan Rudd could make. He’s the first head on any ball into the box and he’s the last line of defence when it’s on the ground. Chlo is always there to stop things going to shit and will calm anyone down when they think its all gone to crap. You could have known her six minutes and it will feel like a life time. At times I wonder what my life was like before Chlo, similarly to how I wonder how Preston had any form of defence before Pat showed up in the summer.
Mila. @trentalexanders - Callum Robinson (I know he left in the summer but he fits so well). The sunshine. Callum could light up any room and stadium with his energy. His smile is brighter than the sun and he is full of life. He had so much talent, which was evident as he’s moved up to the big leagues now, but he often struggled to believe in himself and his ability and just needed a bit of a confidence boost. I think Mila reflects that but some day she’ll take off all her stabilisers and cycle off into the sunset because she’ll out grow us all.
Alice. @shockingtha David Nugent. The fun uncle. He’s like the dad but he’ll get you in trouble too. He’s a dreamer. He’s got history with the club and so he has aspirations for it to be something more. He knows the ins and outs of the club and the people. He’s got the knowledge needed to guide others and advise them. Like David, Alice is wise beyond her years and will support any friend in need of help. She’s level headed and can talk through any issue with you but won’t be afraid to let you drift off to the clouds in dreams for something more. She’s a believer at heart. Oh and Nugent is the reason I learned my 5 times tables and Alice is always there to help you with any learning issue or grammar question.
Laila. @yessdmnxix7 - Tom Barkhuizen. The sneak attack. A lot of the time I forget he’s on the pitch. I’m unobservant as fuck and I can’t really process a lot of visual information at once, but I just never really notice he’s there. Then out of no where. BAM. He’s running with the ball making a forty yard sprint on goal. He comes out of no where and gives the team a chance. Laila is in the shadows at times like Tom. She’s lurking around like a neighbourhood cat who shows up when she wants to but when she shows up BOY does she show up. She’s a pocket sized firecracker and can always be counted on for a bit of excitement. Plus Barky just signed a new deal a few months ago so much like Laila, he’s gonna be around for a while #WIFE
pls appreciate this was difficult to do as most pne players have less personality than a barn door. it’s also late and i’m supposed to be writing the final 800 words of a 3000 word essay but #yolo as the kids used to say.

10 Awesome Characters in Literature I believe that the best stories are the ones in which the characters drive the plot. Through their eyes we’re absorbed into the depth of the world they inhabit, filled with colour in every shade. Not all protagonists need to be likeable, merely fascinating and insightful enough to realistically draw us into their tale. Here are ten I think are fabulous. Tyrion Lannister from ‘A Song of Ice and Fire.’ Tyrion has got to be one of my most favourite characters in the history of anything. He is intelligent, kind, witty, and most of all, an underdog. He constantly gets accused of crimes yet the only thing he is guilty of is being a dwarf. Few recognise his talents, least of all his cruel and emotionally abusive father and sister. My hope is he will live to rule over those who mocked him. Hermione Granger from ‘Harry Potter.’ Hermione is a character I related to a lot growing up. She was my curly-haired geeky soul-sister, fiercely loyal to Harry and Ron while retaining her code of ethics. Cut from the films is her work through S.P.E.W, an organisation dedicated to helping house-elves gain fairer rights. While she can be irritatingly self-righteous at times, it adds more depth to her character and shows her strengths and flaws. Eleanor Oliphant from ‘Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.’ This amazing novel wouldn’t stand without its unusual heroine. Eleanor is hilarious to read about, and yet we ache for the sadness she carries due to her heinous upbringing. At the start its unsure what to make of her, but by the end we love and root for all she has endured. She represents someone who strives to change and make the best of their life, despite horrible circumstances. I think that is very admirable and lovely to read about. Steven Stelfox from ‘Kill Your Friends.’ Okay, first nasty character on this list. Steven is one of the vilest characters I’ve come across in fiction. He’s a racist, homophobic, misogynistic, entitled, self-absorbed psychopath and I absolutely ADORE reading about him. He is very well fleshed-out and it’s fabulous reading his awful scheming thoughts in John Niven’s books that feature this anti-hero we love to hate. The Loser’s Club from ‘It’ I don’t want to saturate this list with Stephen King characters (as he is one of my favourite authors) so am just going to pick the best seven. Bev, Richie, Ben, Bill, Mike, Stan and Eddie are some of the most wonderful, courageous, brilliant people ever. Spending over a thousand pages with them all isn’t enough; the story of how they band together to triumph against evil is beautiful and heart-breaking all at once. Piggy from ‘Lord of the Flies’ Piggy is wonderful; his fate is tragic, and I loved reading about him when I read this book. He’s another ‘underdog’ character who is under-estimated by the pack, and yet is the most rational, clever and sensitive person who ends up suffering due to the cruel indifference of his peers. Kate Reddy from ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ Kate is one of my favourite realistic heroines (the book version, not the dreadful movie version – sorry Sarah Jessica Parker, I loved you as Carrie but not as a middle-class British fund manager). Her story is both hilarious and sad; seeing her struggle to juggle a high-powered job and a family shows the problems of trying to ‘have it all’ as a modern woman. The pressures of feminism are highlighted as Pearson shows us that women need to be realistic about what we can do without compromising our physical and emotional health. Having a fulfilling career is amazing, but so is being a loving wife and stay-at-home mother. Sephy Hadley from ‘Noughts and Crosses’ A tough, empathetic woman trapped in a society that says black and white people can’t be together (sound familiar?) Malorie Blackman turns the tables in this series; Sephy is a wealthy black Cross whose father works in the government, and Callum is a poor white Nought whose family can barely get by. The two friends-turned-lovers grow up together in a world that tries to tear them apart. Despite it all, Sephy remains resilient throughout the series, and watching her grow and raise her child inspires hope. Atticus Finch from ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’ Another story about racial tension, this time rooted in reality. I love Atticus because he is kind, intelligent, loyal and sees the good in people. He fights to defend an innocent man on trial and teaches his children to be loving and brave. (Reminds me of Ned Stark; the archetypal caring and wise father figure). Atticus takes a stand where others do not, and his lessons rub off on Scout. Christopher from ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time’ Like Eleanor Oliphant, he is an unusual protagonist we can’t help but love. The ending is beautiful and almost brings tears to my eyes, thinking about this autistic boy who views the world through such an innocent and questioning lens. His journey is amazing and written in a clever yet simple style. And so those are ten characters from literature whom I think are awesome! Thanks to the wonderful Joey Paul for letting me appear as a guest on her blog to share these fictional beauties with you. Who are some characters you enjoy? Let me know! Elliot Pearson was fine until his imaginary friend came back the day he turned thirteen.
Callum says that the Monsters are trying to infiltrate the Imaginary Realm and Elliot is the only one who can help. Can you believe it?
How is he supposed to do that, anyway?
He’s just some kid who barely made it through losing his imaginary friend in the first place.
He can’t do anything.
Can he?
