thinking about the ONLY mention of klavier in aa6 and its THIS.
it starts as a simple conversation, inspecting a (slightly ridiculous) bouquet of roses:
Athena: Oh, these are from Prosecutor Gavin.
Apollo: Roses, huh? How like him: pretentious.
Athena: They might be pretentious, but you know what? He makes it work.
Apollo: Hmph.
Athena: Apollo, I've noticed this for a while now, but… you get awfully prickly when it comes to Prosecutor Gavin.
Apollo: Y-You think so?
Athena: I mean, don't hate him just because he's beautiful.
Apollo: Th-That's not it at all!
the first thing he associates it with is pretentiousness. not entirely because it's, to be honest, a gaudy and absurdly large display, compared to the others. which is just how klavier is, and that's something apollo laments. no, instead he focuses specifically on the roses. red roses, which are almost exclusively associated with love and romance. they're maybe a little tacky, a little cliche, but apollo outright calls them "pretentious". showy, flamboyant, literally:
"attempting to impress by affecting greater importance than is actually possessed."
which he immediately compares klavier to; he finds him pretentious. (do i think there is some kind of intentionality behind this word choice? that apollo, as he seems to always have, sees through klavier's personas, his grand, artificial behaviors and gestures? and that maybe it irritates him because he knows it's partially false? no. i think it's just a word. will that stop me from reading it that way? never)
and when athena agrees that, while yes, it's maybe a little pretentious, klavier "makes it work", that his overdone extravagant (outward) personality is well pulled off when done by him, apollo insists on this irritation with a "hmph." (like come on. 24 year old man crossing his arms, looking to the side and going "hmph" like a kid, refusing to admit that klavier does something well. i can see him now)
and it's interesting how athena says "i've noticed this for a while now" which means there's been more than one instance where klavier has been so much as mentioned around and/or to apollo and he responds with either irritation or a weirdly cagey shut down. and it's not "you get angry", "you get irritated", "you get frustrated", it's prickly. as if Klavier Gavin is a "touchy subject". and WHY would he be??
apollo and klavier are, for the most part, on good terms. they work in unified tandem in 4-4 and have near identical ideals in law and justice and the pursuit of truth. apollo's main irritation seems related to his dislike of klavier's more embellished and exaggerated behaviors; his incessant flirting, brash overconfidence, generally overwhelming and loud presence. an obvious foil to apollo's professionalism and staunch seriousness, so he finds him grating, ridiculous, and other things. but it's also envy, embarrassment, maybe a bit of shyness. either way, feelings that only seems to rear their head in klavier's presence, because they are aspects of klavier's performative, in-person nature.
so why is it that the mere mention of klavier makes apollo "prickly." on edge, touchy. there's seemingly nothing unspoken between them. at most, they were partners in court a few years ago for a case or three; at least, klavier is simply an irritating person to apollo. what in the WORLD would make apollo act like that. what is it about a peer and friend of his sister's sending her flowers for a show that makes apollo so irascible.
and on TOP of that, when athena points this out, he doesn't double down. he doesn't insist that he simply doesn't like Klavier, that he finds him annoying and absurd, he's taken aback. surprised, inquisitive, like when someone points a nervous habit or tic of yours that you never noticed. as if he's not aware of the way he acts when klavier gets brought up
and then when athena teases him about klavier's good looks, (which athena may not know, but we, as the player with access to his inner thoughts in aa4, know he is envious of, and even flustered by at times. offhandily calls him pretty or handsome when he's irritated with him) he gets embarrassed and defensive, saying "That's not it at all!"
IT. WHAT IS IT. he says oh no, that is not why i act that way. that is not It, you know. The Reason. which means there IS a reason. AND WHAT IS IT. WHAT IS IT.
WHY ELSE WOULD A GROWN MAN WHO HAS NOT SEEN ANOTHER MAN IN OVER A YEAR MOST LIKELY, WHO HASN'T HAD ANY REAL ISSUES WITH THIS MAN IN MULTIPLE YEARS, BE SO UNNESSCARILY IRRITATED BY HIM, EVEN BY HIS ACTS OF GOOD FAITH OR WHEN HE'S BARELY MENTIONED. AND NOT ONLY THAT, BUT TO BE GENERALLY UNAWARE OF THIS REACTION, MEANING IT'S NOT DONE INTENTIONALLY OUT OF DISLIKE OR TO COMPLAIN.
they keep klavier locked away and refuse to give him relevance after aa4 (which they somehow barely let him have relevance in despite being the main prosecutor and pivotal key part in kristoph's incarceration) yet THE ONE TIME he is mentioned, its relating to his relationship to apollo. klapollo is trapped in the basement and wants out. WHY DO THEY DO THIS.
WHY MENTION HIM ONLY FOR IT TO RELATE TO HOW APOLLO FEELS ABOUT HIM. ALMOST AS IF THEY ARE INTRINSICALLY TIED TOGETHER. and not only that but about how he's beautiful. and that flusters apollo. EYE TWITCHES
CAPCOM. ACE ATTORNEY. WHY IS THIS THE ONLY MENTION OF KLAVIER IN AA6. WHY DOES. WHY ARE YOU. WHY
essay over this one interaction CONFIRMS that apollo holds deep seeded attraction and feelings toward klavier that he has not even BEGUN to unravel because its buried under 10 layers of "i hate that guy he's so [insert excuse]" klapollo will never happen unless someone locks them in a room together and forces them to talk
i think i've lost it

i LOVE how much you can see edgeworth's influence on klavier. klavier talks about finding the truth the way he does. klavier helps find the truth and doesnt look to win like he does. klavier doesnt treat defense attorneys like the enemy like he does. edgeworth took the long way, learning for himself what being a good prosecutor means and how the court should work then ensured the next generation didnt have to.

hello! i’m love your post and arts so much! I look at your posts after a hard day and my mood immediately changes to excellent. can I ask a couple of questions?
which pairing with Ethan do you prefer?
and… can we get to know you better? a little biography?
Thank you for your time! I'll be waiting for new arts! (sorry if i made mistakes, my english is not so good. im russian)
i like basically every ship with ethan! it mostly depends on the mood im in, but if im being honest, mithan, winterfield, and wintersberg gets frustrating to think about because they all dont treat ethan well canonically... lethan is fun because they have never met and i can make my own assumptions!
i used to like wintersberg the most and i still do like it, i just have expanded my horizons to other ships as well...., its mostly like a punchline to me though. they have the funniest potential which is why a majority of their posts is just joke comics. i do not like how people try to erase how karl is arrogant and egotistical tho. thats like removing the flavor.... the way karl acts is just very funny to me, hes so lame in a good way and i like how everytime he talks to ethan it sounds like hes twirling his hair and kicking his feet. canonically speaking, karl was very much in the wrong for trying to use rose and not elaborating and i will die on this hill. ethan is not in the wrong for being disgusted and angry that karl would ever try and propose that in the deal. karl is very arrogant so when ethan says no to him it makes him mad and he tries to use fear to get ethan to take his deal (kicking his chair and warning him) i like karl, i like how messed up and arrogant he is but i dislike how people try to portray him as a nice guy. however, in a AU where everythings the same except he doesnt try to use rose i do enjoy the dynamic they could have, especially if the teamed up (not with the deal where they use rose. ethan wouldnt agree unless karl never involved rose in the first place). karl is just a very entertaining character and i like him a lot, hes funny and his personality can be extremely hilarious
mia and ethan is pretty tragic and thinking about it too much makes me a bit sad, imo in a reality where ethan survives re8, he needs to divorce mia. im not saying ethan needs to hate mia and never talk to her again i just dont think they should be so intimate together because of her behavior... please do not take this as anti mia. they loved each other dearly but it wasnt healthy. their relationship was kept afloat by lies and mia doesnt change even though she deals with the consequences of her own actions in re7. she actively tries to hide her past from ethan and is mostly focused on trying to move on and have a normal life even if ethan will have to live the rest of his life in the dark.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
she loves her family so much, shes very afraid of them leaving her so she hides all the bad things in the hopes that they wont leave. its selfish, its human, its real, her character is so amazing and i love her. she doesnt learn from re7 and hides important information from ethan again. i geniunly think they should have gotten divorced after re8 if ethan had survived. its tragic and its sad but they love each other so much. it sad because they both geniunly love rose so much but they themselves shouldnt be together. its just sad to think about it. whenever i draw them it usually takes place before re7. they should have divorced on good terms and shared custody of rose.........
ethan and chris is also frustrating to think about... chris is a major jerk in re8, whenever i draw it, its under a unspoken AU that chris did not behave the way he did in re8. his weird behavior in re8 is probably for a meta reason imo. capcom wanted to set up a twist villian so they make chris very vague and unesscarily cruel. while its frustrating that they turned chris into a jerk for the sake of a twist, it still happens in canon and i will forever roll my eyes whenever i see him on screen. he did what he thought was best but imo, execution matters more than the intentions. same applies to mia. they both did things that hurt ethan because they thought it would be the best but in the end they just hurt ethan.
all the ships ive discussed with people ethan has met canonically just makes it look like i dont even like the ships... LOL ... ethan just has horrible luck with the people he meets i guess... but i do enjoy the ships and drawing them, but again all of them come with the canon baggage that ends up making me sad because everyone treats ethan poorly whether they had good intentions or not
which is why leon and ethan is the most fun to draw without getting stressed... LOL... they have never met but just drawing what i think their dynamic would be like is very fun.
please dont take this post personally, this isnt a post declaring why ur fave ship sucks, this is just my own personal preferences and in the end i draw all of them anyways
if i had to rank the ships based on drawing silly comics it would be
wintersberg
mithan
lethan
winterfield
wintersberg has the funniest potential just because of karl and mithan can be funny if u water it down to "i love my wife so much" and said wife comes home with suspicious amounts of hard cash
i enjoy making joke comics far to much
if i were to rank the ships based on how healthy they would actually be for ethan it would be
lethan
winterfield, mithan, wintersberg (no particular order)
sorry 😭
leon and ethan have literally never met but imo it would still be the healthiest because ethan gets to start new
the three other ships r all unhealthy in some way, at least canonically without changing much about the characters (i do like winterfield but just because of how chris behaved in re8 it knocked them down)
i cant even rank them on personal preference because my opinion changes so often 😭 it changes based on discussions i have with my friends or recent art i see that inspires me... me and my friends recently had a discussion about mia and ethans relationship which made me very frustrated and sad with mia so i defiently wouldnt be drawing them anytime soon... meanwhile i hvae been talking to a friend who really likes winterfield often so the conversations we have give me art ideas and i end up drawing it more. if a friend of mine really enjoyed wintersberg or lethan and talked to me about it often id probably start drawing it more, the joys of being a multishipper
it changes a lot based on how im feeling and if im in the mood to draw something funny or something serious
sorry u asked a really simple question and i responded with a essay
and a little bit about myself is that i go by crumb, i am 18 and i go by all pronouns and prefer it/its
im vietnamese and live in texas
i made this tumblr acc solely so i could post my ethan art and im a re7/re8 girly so if ur here waiting for me to draw the re1-re6 characters im sorry u should probably expect nothing
i also make personal animations sometimes which u can find here
thanks for the ask and sorry for the rant!

What's your honest opinion/best headcanon on our gatekeeping girlboss murderwifey Mia?
i just made a post about this on twitter LOL i think mia is a really interesting character, i think alot of people dont know how to handle her as a character bc shes so complex and i also think capcom UNINTENTIONALLY made her that way LOOLLLL.
its not so black and white with her, shes not an angel but shes definitely not an evil super villain as some people describe her as, she made mistakes, she made decisions that were definitely not perfect, ethan died barley knowing a single thing about the connections or mias involvement, but shes also severely traumatized from the bakers incident and shes insistent on moving on, she gets angry at ethan in re8 over something that he doesnt even know about!!😭😭 but that makes her very human imo! it makes her a really interesting character! too bad capcom dropped the ball with her character so hard in re8😭😭 she was sidelined so hard and she didnt even get an ingame ending at all😭 me and my friends were convinced that mia was barley in rose's life after re8 because she was written so poorly what else are you supposed to think after rose says she 'hasnt seen mom in a while' 😭 and considering mia was suchhh an important character in both games its really disappointing to see capcom completely drop her just because they want to wrap up the winters story as fast as possible so they can bring back leon for another 20 games 😭

The main reason I dislike aeon so much is particularly because capcom has this strange thing that they do where they don't really show us how in love they are, they TELL us. If your characters were genuinely as in love and enthralled with each other as you say they are, we wouldn't need every character they interact with to TELL us they're in love.
i.e: "sounds like you know her well" from RE4R, "you have feelings for her dont you?" from RE6, "I can't believe i actually miss her" from RE2R, etc
You do not need to constantly vocalize how in love they are if they're truly in love and the games do it so much that it becomes repetitive. Someone's always asking Leon about Ada and TELLING him his feelings for her instead of us being shown that hes longing for and pining for her.
And this doesnt work specifically because of Leon's dry, cynical attitude toward Ada even in the original games. Their chemistry doesn't actually start working (in a sense) until RE6 but in 6 its basically forced down the players' throats.
Not to mention (especially in the 4 remake) Ada has a very odd boredness around Leon that people claim she uses as a way to hide her feelings for him. But I bring you this as a counter: her attitude toward Luis in the Separate Ways DLC.
Ada shows more genuine joy and emotion around Luis than she does toward Leon (even in the other games (maybe beside 6)). At one point she even giggles and smiles at him (which she has NEVER done to Leon):
She is constantly angry and exasperated with Luis the same way she is with Leon but the difference is that it doesn't feel as mocking toward Luis as it does Leon. She softens a lot easier around Luis even in their very limited screen time and interactions.
She has only ever ALLOWED Luis to touch her. With Leon, SHE is the one dictating the interaction and how its going to work. With Luis, she is less harsh about it and actually allows him to support her and help her in a way Leon has not.
(NOTE THE CLOSENESS ADA IS ALLOWING FROM LUIS,)
Tumblr media
(1 video per post limit ugh)
(VS HOW IMMEDIATELY SHE BRUSHED LEON OFF.)
Tumblr media
She is very adamant about keeping Leon very far at arm's length and that COULD be because she has repressed feelings for him but it NEVER comes off that way. She is much more vibrant and emotional around Luis which we NEVER get to see around Leon. She's somewhat flirty and joking around Leon but not in the same way she is with Luis.
Aeon (imo) feels forced. Like capcom is TELLING us "hey, theyre meant for each other" when its not VISIBLE and not FELT like Leon/Ada's interactions are with other characters. Leon has more chemistry with Chris in Vendetta ALONE than he has with Ada. They feel meant for other characters but theyre being forced together in a way that feels clunky and badly written.
AND ANOTHER THING:
Capcom CANNOT just allow Ada to be a character without attaching her to Leon. Leon has his own arcs and development but she feels (ESPECIALLY IN THE OLD GAMES) like an accessory to him in the way her story and arc almost always completely revolve around him.
The Separate Ways DLC was changed SO much and it seems like they were trying to remedy it but even STILL she was constantly being stuck back to Leon and unallowed to have her own growth. She is the same old Ada because she can't become a different Ada if she's still attached to Leon's hip in the way capcom DESPERATELY needs her to be. The only biohazard movie she shows up in is Damnation and she's STILL Leon's little "femme fatale shadow of his past" character that i HATE. She disappears at the end of the movie and thats the LAST that we see of her.
I'm not saying that shipping aeon is like devil sent or the worst thing ever or anything, im just saying that (in my personal opinion) it doesnt work the way that most people think it does. Their relationship feels very surface level and forced. My biggest example of this is the kiss in RE2R. I've always had a problem with this scene particularly because aeon crusaders use it as a "GOTCHA!" moment to prove that theyre in love.
HOWEVER.
Ada seems disingenuous and Leon doesnt look overcome with love. Ada does this--not as impulse--but as a calculated move to catch Leon off guard and manipulate him into doing what she NEEDS him to do. It is her act of duty because she is immobile, injured, and a liability. She needs to act fast. So she does.
Leon does not react with wonder. He reacts with confusion. He does not look in love. He moves on from it very quickly. He appears to be questioning her and himself immediately after it is over. He does not react.
Tumblr media
That is abject confusion.
I cannot say the same for the og re2 cause the graphics are pixels and the VA work is so bad that its hard to tell any emotion from it. But I can say in confidence that the kiss scene here does not seem to represent love at first sight.
The love at first sight trope is extremely difficult to pull off correctly and capcom had a good foundation for it... but not for Ada and Leon.
For Leon and CLAIRE.
They're much more involved together in RC in the original RE2 and the Darkside Chronicles and MUCH less present in the remake but STILL. The remake manages to capture a tenderness and genuine affection between them that Ada/Leon don't have in this game (or the others for that matter). The way they set up the Ada/Leon "romance" here is very strange. Like theyre trying to reassure us that theyre interested in each other without actually doing the emotional groundwork to prove it.
What particularly drives me crazy is that Aeon is in retrospect a very toxic ship that doesnt work between either of them. Ada treats Leon like a constant: "i dont have to work on this because he'll always be here waiting for me." And Leon always comes out of the otherside of their interactions worse off than he entered (think about the transition in his appearance and mental state from RE6 to Vendetta: the loss of weight, sarcastically dark hair, HEAVY alcohol use, increased suicidality) and of course this is affected by outside trauma as well, but it also has to do with Ada and her lingering influence on him that capcom must have in every game she appears in. It drags him down, makes him worse, and he never gets closure.
Ada also never gets closure because she pulls away before she can to avoid it for as long as possible. Which then just boils their dynamic down to "this is mysterious because we never communicate or accept each other into our lives" which in addition to the awful emotional layout capcom has done, just makes the ship extremely frustrating. And not in a slow burn "JUST KISS ALREADY" way. In a "can this please just be over already" kind of way.
I could go on about this all day but I'll shut up now lest the aeon shippers hear me from afar and come to rip my throat out
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Yes this is just my opinion. No i dont care if you ship aeon. No im not expecting to convert people or change your mind.

i will defend capcoms translation of aai2 to hell and back because ykw if it gets more eyes on this game then im all for it but theres just. ONE thing that gets me about the new translation dont know if i can explain this very well but whatever ill try
also HUGE HUGE spoilers for AAI2, PLEASE dont read if u havent played the full game
Tumblr media
ok so. i was just listening to a steamer play the collection in the background and at the end of the 2nd convo w simeon in ch2 i heard this
Tumblr media
and thn i backtracked and noticed that he kept calling knight by his first name
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i was like "huh did he always do that? swear he called him by his last name in the fan translation" and turns out he does
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the only reason i even remembered that was bc in the flashback convo in ch5 between knightley and simon, when simon calls him horace it REALLY stuck out because up until this point basically nobody has called knightley by his first name, not even his best friend
Tumblr media Tumblr media
imo his own best friend calling him by his last name kind of foreshadows the emotional distance simon feels towards knightley and just. dude this was SO intentional
and in case youre wondering, simon calls knightley by his last name, 内藤(naitou), in the japanese version too until the goodbye part where he calls him マノスケ(manosuke)
Tumblr media
usually manosuke is written out with kanji, but when he says it here its in katakana which is only used for loan words blah blah blah ok
if im wrong sue me but using katakana like this is either a sign of closeness, like how in japanese edgeworth calls kay ミクモくん(mikumo-kun) in katakana(also probabaly partly bc he doesnt speak formal japanese with like. anyone?? see this post) or emphasis like how capital letters are in english(obv its not a one to one comparison but whatever u get it)
my japanese isnt the best so. take this w a grain of salt BUT
basically. the use of katakana emphasizes his use of knightley's first name so this was TOTALLY an intentional thing(bc otherwise they wouldve just written it normally) that the localizers just i guess opted to ignore???? or maybe im just a crazy person whos watched like every lets play of this game ever and im reading too deep into it
tbf its a REALLY small detail in the grand scheme of things but with how carefully every detail that hints to simon's identity as the mastermind has been planted in this game, its kind of sad that a lot of players will miss out on this
ANYWAYS sorry it was 2am at the time of writing this and im so bad at explaining my feelings but. hopefully this made sense idk i dont write good but like im convinced this flashback and this line specifically is like at least half of the reason i love manosouta

people always get mad at nintendo for killing ips but if im being honest i feel like nintendo kills ips the least out of like. any gaming company ever
sony with little big planet, sly cooper, losing the rights to crash and spyro
capcom killed anything thats not a monster hunter game. id say capcom makes like one non monster hunter game every three years and its a very special rare occasion.
sega killed off anything thats not sonic and persona and yakuza
microsoft
like idk i just always found it odd when people act like nintendo is the company that kills ips. i mean these are the guys who just made a new famicom detective club game. the ones that were pushing for fire emblem and pikmin to become mainstream and now they are.
i kinda feel like nintendo is the only company that DOESNT kill off ips and if they do its for a very strong reason (star fox being very outdated arcade-esque game design and selling poorly, f-zero being outdone by mario kart to a point of being redundant and selling nothing, advance wars due to being a less fun fire emblem, earthbound due to itoi refusing to let the series continue, kid icarus due to sakurai refusing to go back to the series and nobody could fill those shoes, etc)
and a lot of the times a series isnt even Dead its just their devs are busy. like rhythm heaven is made by intelligent systems who make fire emblem, warioware, and paper mario, so theyve kinda just had their hands way too full making sure these series have a steady flow on switch (because then people would call them dead)
wrote the above sentence earlier and then rhythm heaven got announced in the direct. proving my point much further, thank u nintendo.
or donkey kong. like dk isnt dead at all that dude took half the mario movie and got an amusement park. but if we're talking like New Mainline Game then retro studios has been tackling the massive task of metroid prime 4's development heck so i can kinda see why dk hasnt gotten a brand new adventure in awhile and dont expect one anytime soon
meanwhile sony just boots out anything that doesnt immediately make them seven playstatillion dollars upon the first two days of release or whatever
i guess its because nintendo just has way more series than other companies, but even then dont people want innovation? nintendo has that in spades
but i still find the reactions to nintendo a bit silly, like i think capcom should be the guys we make fun of for this tbh how do you fumble ACE ATTORNEY AND MEGA MAN?????

so i replayed dmc 2 (crazy, i know) for dantelucia content, and playing on lucia's side of the story is so crazy bc it's literally what dante has been going through throughout his whole life
when lucia found out she was a demon and that she could lose herself to that side of her it scares her to the point of wanting to die/to be killed, going as far as to tell dante and arius to kill her bc she doesnt want to hurt others which can be reflected with dante's own views of his demon heritage which is something he feels he couldnt control if he ever taps into it so he does rlly reckless things to cope with it
dante even secludes himself from people and forming relationships outside of trish and lady bc of the fear of hurting them. even with dante's very reckless behavior it can be seen as him self harming which says a lot about his mental health plus the fact that in dmc 2 hes carrying the weight of grief which makes it even worse as seen with him going to hell not even caring on how to get out of it
like both of these characters became reckless ppl when they find out that they have demonic powers and the fact they both cling to the their love for people/family says a lot about their characters
but heres the thing....what makes these two so good to see is the fact that dante comforted lucia and even validated her human idenity by telling her that "devils never cry" and i feel like this line truly stuck with dante bc of what Lady said to him when he cried (basically devils dont cry and u arent rlly a devil if u cried over a love one), its just 3 simple word and yet it holds so much meaning for dante and probably for lucia too which she probably needed at that moment showing how emotionally smart dante is...
dante and lucia's views on their demon heritage is such a good way for them to have a long talk with one another about their feelings and thoughts of being demons and how to control the urge and how protecting people is what makes them human but also feel like its their responsibility bc of their demon heritage....like i need capcom to write more of their relationship or maybe someone just writes it in a fanfic bc their dynamic has so much potential the parallels...the love they have.....it makes me go insane

Netflix DMC Reactions/Commentary
Been a while since I've done this. I think the last time was for the HBO Last of Us? Either way. Here's some of my random thoughts as I worked my way through Devil May Cry.
I played (and enjoyed) the dmc video games back in the day and i was, unfortunately, excited about this show going in. I wanted to have fun here, as I've had fun with the franchise in the past. And I did. The show is a fun watch. I think both fans of the franchise and new arrivals who know nothing of the games and just want a kickass gory anime to watch can enjoy this.
Some of the comments i make kind of spoil plot lines from the games and the show itself. This is commentary for all 8 episodes, listed in order.
EPISODE 1: some random merc: gets decapitated me: giggling and kicking my feet. "Good start!"
KEVIN CONROY?!?! i didnt know he was gonna be here T_T i miss you man
OMG thats a remix of Vergil's theme <3 i recognize those lyrics
how come only like 1 person was dancing in that club wth XD
Kevin Conroy's character doing these interrogations is doing NOTHING to separate this character from Batman in my head so far.
hmmm I wonder why this shapeshifter just happens to know what Dante's "dead" brother would look like as an adult when he "died" as a child?? MYSTERY OF THE AGES
------------
EPISODE 2:
ohhh is that Lady? <3 Lady <3 i forgot she was gonna be in the show ngl i only watched the trailer once a long time ago
why dont they fucking ask dante? why go in guns blazing?? fucking americans (i say as an american)
KEEP ROLLIN' ROLLIN' ROLLIN' - i do love the music so far. At least they havent dropped the ball on that yet.
your life worth half a mil? dude, value yourself more than that.
unflinching Kevin Conroy. Very Batman of you KEVIN. Ah, until you bring god into it ok nvm. The separation between this motherfucker and Batman has begun.
I want pizza. GDI Dante.
jfc idk what pool balls are made out of but ok. those are SOLID
i wanna replay dmc 3 now.
THE SWORD<3 i wondered where you were Rebellion my beloved
freshmen never do their homework.
-----------
EPISODE 3:
oh we actually got Lady's backstory. Neat.
LOL all the Capcom references.
"OTHER PROTOTYPE"; give the lady her cannon-machine gun- thing! I forgot the name! But it was cool! Queen maybe? Just looked it up: Kalina Ann. IDK where i got Queen. Must be some other killer machine thing from somewhere else (OTHER THAN FF14)
i cant tell if Dante is playing stupid or this is early enough in his timeline he genuinely doesnt know about his heritage yet.
REBELLION!! plz be sword time. I need sword time.
Honestly, I kinda like the Rabbit's attitude/vibe
you know what lady could use rn? A GIANT FUCKIN GUN-CANNON
WENT AT HIM WITH A FUCKIN KEYBOARD LOL WHAT
REBELLION!! I really like swords ok. im just a simple little guy with simple tastes. swords are sexy.
LAST RESORT remix :o !
ok whatever this bike is made of is tough shit this is what all cars and tires need to be made of.
DEVIL TRIGGER BABBBBEEEEYYYYY. Awh. JK. not yet. tease. He'll get there.
-----------
EPISODE 4:
BABY VERGIL<3 baby dante<3
ugh, Conroy-not-Batman, stfu. I cant believe im asking you to stop talking. But stop talking. Sorry Kevin.
Dante's momma isnt the only human who wants to fuck a demon. Damn. this black and red one with the wings <3 badass
oh no the humans are dying. So anyway this background music is good.
i feel like im supposed to care more about this hit squad of soldiers? but i really dont with the exception of Lady. Girl has enough trauma already give her a break.
ah, i see. Prediction: Rabbit was besties with Sparda once upon a time I'll bet, and he didnt appreciate being left behind and trapped in Hell with Mundus
oof. more Trauma for Lady. Nothin' like a good ol' drug-induced mind fuck to darken your afternoon.
DEVIL TRIGGER <3 at least partially!! he's gettin there <3
historically, demons in this franchise have all been the same. They've not really portrayed them like this before. At least, not that i can remember. I'm not opposed to this direction tho.
-----------
EPISODE 5:
ok we're gonna have a very long-lasting fall sequence i see. That motorcycle a couple episodes ago lasted much longer than it should have too. This might as well happen.
NGL when i saw that keypad on the wall i immediately squinted at it to see if any numbers were faded to Sherlock Holmes the fuckin' code.
Right. Back to falling. OR, hear me out, fully devil trigger and use your wings, Dante.
you know, all that falling shrapnel would totally rip a parachute but okay. You know, i kind of hate the random details i choose to apply reality to and which details i let slide lmao. Like ah yes, the parachutes are the MOST unrealistic part of this show for sure, mhm.
Lady is so smart <3
devil trigger. devil trigger. devil trigger. YEAH BABY LETS GOOO
Lady really adapted and accepted this new situation with these Makaian REALLY fast for someone deeply traumatized by demons since childhood, (but i guess there is also whatever those horror-flashbacks involving her dad at play here). But good for her for being able to distinguish between civilians and the actual enemy. I'm not used to this whole refugee dynamic with the demons from a dmc franchise but I'll take it. Considering Sparda cant have been the only "good" one capable of emotion/love/empathy/etc.
LOL lady calling Rabbit's operation nazi-esque is fuckin' hilarious considering USA-VP is moments away from eradicating a bunch of ppl based purely on his religious-fueled hatred of something different from himself. Also "funny" considering current real world events. Gotta love the point made when humans turn out to be the "monsters" Rabbit used VP's hatred and he played his part perfectly.
I'm still unraveling Rabbit's trauma, but he definitely has a dislike of demons and humans both it seems like
-----------
EPISODE 6:
Rabbit backstory time? ah, incorrect. more Lady. No? Both :o okay.. why both? :o
Dad goes full mad-scientist. Oh. Oh no. I know where this is going. Right, yeah.
OH-HO! it is also Rabbit backstory. Well shit. Well then. No wonder.
Huh. Sudden change in art style. Its cute tho.
Sorry kid dont mind me while I bop to this sick tune while you run for your life.
OK, so this is really adorable and moving. Oh damn the other shoe is gonna drop soon aint it? ugh. FEELS!
OH SHIT this is the Evanescence track playing. And here's the (more) trauma. oof.
wait a minute. There has to be a reason they're running both of their backstories in tandem like this. oH FUCK! Im remembering something Lady said a few episodes ago about refugees. well shit.
But if Rabbit...? then why'd he ...?
oohhhhh. :x
Madness is the emergency exit. And Rabbit just took it.
Ok. ok. ok. HOOOOO. ok.
yeah so my prediction for the Rabbit's backstory earlier was WRONG
-----------
EPISODE 7:
OH! OH! "Flare for the dramatic".... blue shit..... VERGIL!!<3
<3 Lady being a badass once again x2
KALINA ANNNNNNNNN. there's *my* LADY
to hell with you, Dante!
LOL
Honestly, Rabbit has a point.
-----------
EPISODE 8:
whew. okay. final episode. now its time for America Darkcom to be just as demonic as the demons.
bunny has a backup plan.
LOL enzo ships it.
ugh, this guy.
ooh another severed head
kinda hope Anders kills the VP or at least tries
oh enzo no D: .. T_T
i honestly expected Lady to use Kalina Ann more than she did all of once.
oh hey you got dante to bleed finally. Dont let it get on the necklace my dude.
"built on misery" hey thats where im from! Missouri!
rip. but like, not R.I.P. but like ripped rip.
smh, Lady!
o shit.
HAHAHA here's the Green Day, LMAO. American Idiot playing during these last few moments is just... this feels a little too on the nose maybe?
...sigh. Well shit.
oh fuck Uroboros. There you are, you bastard. (BURN CORPO SHIT)
FHJKSDHFJDKSHFDJKSFHDSJKHFS. VERGIL. VERGIL. VERGIL.
<3 Yamato <3
fun that they did a remix of Vergil's theme from dmc 5 but i like the OG better, those vocals are *chefs kiss*
-----------
in summary: this was fun. the music is good. the plot wasnt bad. something slightly different from what they usually do while also being slightly the same. but honestly i think its kind of appropriate given current events the last few years. its sayin' something.

It came out 3 days ago, and ngl, im disappointed with the Claire and Leon part. Im getting done hearing him saying "it's complicated" like omg... Can't you say something else, IT'S BEEN SINCE ID. And randomly bring Ada in this too made me upset especially she's not the question 😭😭
And he's kinda off in the interview?? Idk
I happen to agree with Him. Discussing Leon and Claire is complicate because it will never be a thing, and we don't know why. Like... We can't have a plausible reason to why.
They flirt with each other, they have sexual tension, they have a deep bound filled with trust... So:
"why not?"
"It's complicate!"
It becomes a good answer to avoid the: "Because Capcom doesnt want to compromise their characters"
When you stop to think that capcom would rather make an ENTIRE NEW CHARACTER to give him a wife and a daughter rather than make it happen with Chris, Leon, Claire or Jill... You notice the route capcom is going.
They just don't want to compromise their characters
So no, Leon and Claire will NEVER be a thing. They will forever just tease each other (us), have "close-calls" but never something beyond that.
Because... It is complicated. Not for Leon and Claire, but for CAPCOM.
And Nick is just a VA and especially, he is hired by capcom. He can not speak as if he "knows" it. And especially he needs to pay very close attention to what he is saying and HOW will it be received by others.
Example...
For me, he should have answered: "Oh no! Leon and Claire are just friends!" Calling them "COMPLICATE" (the same he calls Leon and Ada) gives off the vibe that...
"It happened, but they can't go further than whatever happened between them"
In *MY OPINION*, Nick should have just said: "No no! Leon and Claire really are just friends"
Using the term: "Complicate" gives it a vibe that may not be true about their relationship.
My relationship with my friends is not complicated...
It is just friendship!

You see, after reading Captain Britain solo material by Chris Claremont, Dave Thorpe, Alan Moore, and Jamie Delano, as well as classic Excalibur runs by Claremont, Alan Davis, and assorted fill-ins, plus assorted New Excalibur stuff, i have come to a conclusion that Captain Britain kinda sucks.
Now don’t get me wrong, sucking is the point a lot of the time. And part of his appeal! Alan Moore’s characterization of him as being in way over his head and completely overwhelmed by the gonzo superhero shit he encounters carried on to all other interpretations. Like some kinda Frankenstein’s monster, everything is there for him to be a perfectly solid superhero but it doesnt quite work out right because he just can’t take it. It’s all very unique! But it just makes him stick out as a lame-o next to Nightcrawler or the like.
Of course im mostly talking about Brian, surely someone else could do a better job if he stepped aside right? But why would anyone want to? Betsy becoming Captain Britain is treated like a step up the same way Carol becoming Captain Marvel was and like…WHY? Girl you were in Marvel vs Capcom! They have the dumb arbitrary story where she gets all territorial towards Brian about the Captain Britain mantle and for WHAT. The right to deal with bullshit from Merlin and Saturnyne? Psylocke is 10x cooler and doesnt have to deal with that shit! Just share the name, it aint worth it!!!

i have a question if it's not much of a bother but I remember way back when you answered an anon and explained a bit about the dev teams that work on RE.
Like the K2, M2 thing ?
You said they all work separately but the entire time ive been wondering how that exactly works, bc wouldn't capcom still have supervision over it? Or like the main division for it ? So that their plans can align?
So when division one says they have plans to make something (like aeon ) can't they/capcom just communicate with the other studios to make that happen
Sorry if it doesnt make sense what Im trying to say , but Google hasn't helped
um, so
That's not really how RE's dev works?
There is no "plan." There never has been. There never will be. That's why you can't take anything said outside of the games as canon. It's not like there's some encyclopedia of canon that Capcom keeps around and references when they make games. There's not a narrative roadmap. That's why RE's story changes direction so dramatically at different points of the series, and that's why so many characters and hanging plot threads just get dropped and are never picked back up again.
To my understanding, this is a general idea of how RE's dev works in most cases:
Step One: Capcom corporate executives (along with their investors) decide that they're going to make an RE game to release in X fiscal year in order to boost profits, and they hammer out the scope, scale, size, and budget of the project -- as well as determining how big/important the title will be and what systems it'll release on
Step Two: Capcom execs put a team together to helm the project
Step Three: those team leaders (the producer, the director, etc) refine the idea brought down by corporate into something that's actually buildable and then playable as a game
Step Four: the actual developers on the team get to work building the project laid out by the leaders in step three, following the direction and roadmap that those leaders finalized
Capcom Division 1 is the name of the giant pool of developers that work on mainline RE titles. There are enough devs in this pool that they can be split up into different teams so that Division 1 can be working on multiple projects at the same time -- and then, when one project is complete, the devs who worked on that now-completed project move over to a different team to help finish up whatever that other team is working on. For example, when RE8 went gold, the RE8 developers then switched over to help finish RE4make. We'll talk about this more a little bit later, but this is possible because they're all Capcom Division 1 devs; they're all familiar with the series, the engine, the tools, etc etc -- and they're all on the same payroll.
But Capcom Division 1, while huge, is still a limited number of devs. This crew can only be working on so many projects at once. And since game development is an average of 4-6 years, if Capcom corporate wants to release an RE game annually, there just simply aren't enough developers in Division 1 to meet that timeframe.
So they outsource the projects to other studios that Capcom does not own (as is the definition of "outsource").
Enter K-2 and M-2.
These are independent game studios that get contracted by Capcom to work on Capcom titles. They act like any other artist who gets a contract. They're not Capcom employees; they're just being paid by Capcom to work on a specific project. And once that project is finished, they will go back to being independent.
So, in these cases, step one is still the same. But then step two becomes "determine a liaison between Capcom and the contracted studio." And then steps 3-5 happen within the contracted studio. The liaison is there to just make sure that the studio stays within the parameters that Capcom corporate set out.
All RE projects, regardless of whether they're being developed in-house by Division 1 or if they're being contracted out to an independent studio, give the bulk of the creative liberty and development to the project leads of whatever studio is developing the game.
So, in other words: When an RE game gets made, the director and the producer have full creative liberty to do whatever they want with the title and are not beholden to any other creative vision from any other director or producer to have ever worked on Resident Evil.
Tl;dr: The director and the producer can do whatever they want.
This is why a lot of RE's story has been kind of incongruous and incoherent ever since Shinji Mikami left Capcom. The original RE1 on PSX was Mikami's pet project. When it became successful and was turned into a series, Mikami was tasked with the oversight of the series from a creative standpoint. It was solely his vision that was being realized.
But Mikami left Capcom after 4. And the story's been a free for all ever since. No one in Capcom has since stepped up to the plate and been able to take Mikami's place as the sole creative visionary director of Resident Evil. So, in the modern era, Capcom allows each project to just sort of... be whatever the fuck the producer and director of that project want it to be.
So, in the case of the current swath of RE remakes...
Resident Evil was in dire straits after RE6 was a monumental failure, and public trust in Capcom was at an all-time low due to other controversies within other projects.
Enter Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.
Hirabayashi wanted to put together a remake of RE2 because fans had been begging for it for well over a decade, and he had worked on the original REmake with Mikami-san himself. So, he felt that an RE2make would be the perfect project for that moment. But he knew that Capcom had said in the past that they would never remake RE2 and had, for a time, considered DSC to be RE2's remake. He was also in hot water at the company because he had been the producer of RE6. So, he took to Facebook and worked out a plan with fans as to what this RE2make would actually look like and be. He did the majority of the pre-production of RE2make himself by doing this.
He then pitched his idea to Capcom corporate, and Capcom was hesitant to greenlight it. In fact, they told him "no" several times. And each time, he went back to Facebook, told fans what corporate said, and they refined the project notes.
When RE2make was finally greenlit, it was considered a massive gamble by Capcom -- so, in order to help maximize profits on this gamble, they also greenlit remakes of 3 and 4, hoping to reuse assets and resources between the projects in order to take in as much money as possible.
Hirabayashi was put in charge of the RE2make project, and RE3make and RE4make were both outsourced to M-2 -- because the rest of Division 1 was working on RE7 and RE8 at the time.
So, Hirabayashi's team was working on RE2make at the same time that M-2 was working on RE3make. These two projects had nothing to do with each other and were being worked on separately by separate teams in separate studios. There was really no communication between them at all other than to share assets back and forth.
M-2, at this time, had the bulk of their devs working on RE3make and a skeleton crew starting on RE4make. But because both titles were being developed by that same studio, those two projects were in communication with each other, and that's why there are nods to RE4 in RE3make.
RE2make went gold, and those devs went to go help finish up RE8. And RE2make turned out to be incredibly successful.
RE3make went gold, and those devs went on to beef up production on RE4make.
But then RE3make performed poorly and wasn't received well by fans.
Capcom knew that they couldn't allow RE4make to be a failure in the same way. Fucking up an RE4make would put them right back in the hole in terms of customer trust and satisfaction just due to RE4OG's legacy. But they were also kind of stuck, because the team that had put out the massively successful RE2make was now tied up in RE8, and Capcom didn't want to risk that game facing delays.
So, after RE8 went gold -- two years after RE4make started production in earnest at M-2 -- Capcom pulled the project from M-2 and put it back in-house to have its development rebooted and completed by the same team at Division 1 that had developed RE2make.
The reason why there's a coherent narrative and characterization throughline from RE2make to RE4make is not because Capcom had planned it that way. Their initial plans were for those two projects to not be linked at all. The reason why that throughline exists is because both of those games were completed under the direct creative control of Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. That was his doing and his doing alone.
And now, since Hirabayashi's team is working on CXVR, we can expect CXVR to be a direct sequel to RE2make and a direct prequel to RE4make -- but, again, that's only because Hirabayashi is at the head of it. He has a vision that he is seeing realized. It's not Capcom's vision. It's his.
Normally, when a team sets out to work on an RE game, the only reference they use is the series of games that came before the one they're working on now -- and, sometimes, they don't even use that. Sometimes, they just don't give a shit. That's why Steve Burnside never reappeared in the series. That's why characters like Sheva and Helena will never return. That's why RE9 is now allegedly ignoring the Blue Umbrella storyline.
There is no coherent vision for RE at Capcom. There hasn't been since Shinji Mikami left. There is only the vision of the individual directors and producers at the head of the teams that build the games.
We are incredibly lucky that Hirabayashi has been able to do RE2make, CVXR, and RE4make. This will likely be a trilogy that will be the most coherent and consistent narrative that RE has ever seen between titles. But it will be the exception, not the rule.
So now, with RE0make being developed by M-2 and K-2 in tandem, they are free to do their own thing. They are not bound by Hirabayashi's vision. RE0make will be whatever the fuck RE0make will be, because Capcom corporate believes in giving the project director and producer creative control of whatever they're building.
It is entirely possible that the REmake series goes back on the retcon of aeon if RE6make falls into the hands of someone who is not Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. (But, if I had to guess, Hirabayashi is going to be the one to get forced into that project eventually -- because, apparently, no one else wants to do it, and Hirabayashi already has a proven track record of banger REmakes under his belt. All of the ones worth talking about have his fingerprints on them.)
But just keep this in mind as the remake series moves forward.
I'm sorry for the huge wall of text. I know you probably thought that you were asking a simple question. But there are a lot of moving parts to this, and it's important to understand all of them in order to understand the answer to your question.

hears to manifesting Leon with a beard over the next few days, if not at the state of play then summer games fest lol. I have a feeling we're gonna see some heavy hitters this week. Im hoping for some more KH4 news
YES!!! im hoping for SOMETHING resi but at the same time everyone is throwing DG's name around cuz i guess he said there was gonna be talks about the next three years having resi releases but i dont believe a thing that man says so im definitely hopeful but extremely cautious.
they did say recently that they were still working on kh4 but didnt have any new info for it so i dont know if we'll see that even though i think we deserve just a lil something. i was honestly happy with the state of play yesterday too. plus with gta6 having an official release time next year everyone is throwing out september release dates when they previously werent trying to release anything around the potential gta release so im hoping we get some bangers too. if capcom doesnt have its own showcase during summer of games and we dont get anything from with summer games fest or the xbox showcase i dont think we're gonna be getting anything 😭

long rant about resident evil themes below lmao
something i dislike about resident evil is how it picks and chooses who is and isnt important when it comes to who’s infected. i know that this is a side effect of it being a game and you need to detach humanity from the zombies and other monsters for gameplay reasons but idk, i feel like it could be explored more?? like in re6, theres that girl at the beginning of leons campaign that ends up getting infected and got killed, which is fine and shows how jaded leon is blah blah, but the whole like “you have to shoot them no matter what” is kinda??? huh?? like, that girl was a college student, her own life was cut short by a virus that made her into a mindless monster and neither of the characters feel even a little bad? especially that whole section is about saving this girl and then theyre like “oh well shes a zombie time to shoot her.”
there are also a few monsters that are literaly mutated humans, like the tyrants, lickers, and novistadores. but to us, those are all just monsters. the fact that they are made from humans is more like a fun fact than a truly horrific example of deliberate human experimentation.
human experimentation is a very real thing that people still go through and people can still feel the effects from and the fact that capcom doesnt lean into that is super annoying. they dont lean into ashley being used as a vessel for biological warfare in re4r, william birkin feels more like a monster is growing on top of him rather than his humanity being stripped away as a monster grows from within him, the nemesis isnt stitched together in the remake, making it look more like it has its own solid body rather than being a sick and twisted project that uses humans to create something larger than life, i just think its a lot of missed opportunities
but then the games extend sympathies to our main characters which, dont get me wrong i like this, but i hate how theres such a clear difference between “these people are the good guys so you should feel bad when they get infected and theyre still human” and “these people are the bad guys so it doesnt matter how they were made to be like this because theyre things you have to kill so the people they used to be dont matter”
