cw: omegaverse
Having thoughts about dominant omega Price who helps his lads through their ruts because he's a pragmatist. He's clean, he won't get knocked up because he has that shit on lockdown, and the bloody muppets won't go biting some pretty little thing in the local villages, causing all sorts of issues. It's all part of the greater good schtick he has going on.
He takes them back to his flat when it's time so they get the whole nesting experience, cooks them a nice meal with a few beers, and then takes them to bed for the time they need to get it out of their systems.
He's attentive, performing all the chuffs, purrs and trills they need at the height of their rut to feel like they're doing a good job. Doesn't complain when Soap gets rough, or Simon is big, or Gaz likes to kiss and groom him. He bites his arm, grunts out encouragement, breathes deep through his nose when they knot him for the third time in a row without rest. When they occasionally get too excited and try to claim him, he knows how to stop it.
They're soon back to fighting fit, back on the job, focused, and he doesn't take long to be right again, even if he's feeling tender and his hormones are out of wack for a day or two. He's a professional. Mind over matter is his mantra, and it's nothing that won't repair itself with time.
Price promised them that if they followed him he'd have their backs, that he'd cut through the red tape and the obstacles. For him, using his body to carry them out of a fire fight is no different to letting them fuck and knot him to manage their ruts.
His heat though? He suffers through that on his own. Price, who can't stomach any kind of vulnerability, who can't feel like he's leaning on or needs anyone, who does everything on his own terms and no one else's. The thought of any one of his lads seeing him in that state turns his stomach; a mewling, weak, pathetic mess, unfit for command.
No, Price's heats are his private shame, and he has managed them just fine without interference for two decades, even when Nikolai kisses him one night and Simon's scent begins to change as he reaches his prime, and Price's instincts are starting to fuck with his head.
#captain john price#i just think he would view sex with the same utilitarian outlook as needing to take a shit#but less satisfying and more exhausting/messy#if he were an omega anyway#all the issues that would come with that loss of control for a man like price#he would resent his heats#and hate the loss of control

For as much of a raging, misogynistic monster Jimmy is, especially towards Anya-- sexually harassing her, treating her with no respect, constantly belittling her and her work and worth, being generally extremely inconsiderate, ect-- I never really got the impression that he hated her, surprisingly. He absolutely resents her for the pregnancy he forced on her and envisions it as a monster out to hunt him down, sure, but he still included her in this delusional fantasy of a happy birthday celebration. In his mind, she's shown as encouraging and adoring, referring to him as their Captain Jimmy, showering him that recognition and reverence he always wanted. It's interesting, because given how he acts towards her, you'd think she'd be more silent and out of the way-- or better yet, not included at all considering how hard he tried to block her from his mind in comparison to Daisuke, Curly and even Swansea during the guilt sequences. But she is included, and not at all in a negative light.
To me it doesn't really seem he hates Anya personally as much as he hates everything she means for him. For as little respect as he has for her, he seems fine around her in general. He doesn't really seem to mind her when she fawns over him, when she exists in their group as an active member, because I imagine those traits about her wouldn't be present here if he did. He doesn't really mind thinking about Anya, her being on his mind at all-- until he has to confront what he had done to her, the consequences of his actions, the way her pregnancy would negatively affect him and how he should feel guilty and owe her an apology more than everyone else. Then all of sudden she's physically nowhere to be seen, the memory of her banished to the darkest corners of his fractured mind-- suppressed and buried, where he'll never have to think about her again.
In this celebratory delusion, she's allowed to exist. In the guilt sequences, she is not. Her absence has nothing to do with her and everything to do with him.
#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#jimmy mouthwashing#anya mouthwashing#jimanya#jimmyanya#i guess lmao#anyway just thinking again#i don't think his feelings towards her are as simple as “he hates/doesn't care about her”#while resentment and bitterness are definitely felt they feel less targeted at her as a person and more at her as an idea. a threat#he seems to hate the idea of consequences and responsibility she represents to him rather than actually hating her if that makes sense#same with swansea referring to jimmy as “captain jimbo”#you'd think if he hated that nickname so much his delusions would have swansea addressing him with more respect but nah#the way the crew treats jimmy is more or less the same as they did previously except their relationships are far more positive#and i don't know what that says about jimmy's feeling towards the group and about him as a person#i dunno if i cooked here i just thought it was interesting#momento rambles

In the bathroom at hecking early hours, thinking about Stealth Strike and how Kanan had already made the active choice to trust Rex in episode 4 of seaso two, when he guides him and the other clones into the storm to avoid the Empire. He still doesn't completely trust Rex, of course, but he's made more of a step in the right direction than before
But! In Stealth Strike! He starts to fully trust him but ALSO. He hasn't stopped bickering with him because letting go of that would (to him) mean letting go of what happened to Depa
#the way this realization hit me#sometimes you think that forgiveness means saying that what happened to you is okay#but it doesn't! it just means letting go of resentment and anger and not letting the past control you#yet another lesson kanan learned and taught so well#i'm like. really tired so i don't know if i'm expressing this well#but these are the thoughts and i stand by them#kanan jarrus#swr#star wars rebels#captain rex

“This Planet Needs a Name” is another fun one where the premise is fantastic and then the execution completely falls on its face.
TPNaN is the story of a cryo-ship launched from a dying Earth to try to re-populate humanity on another planet, out of the fear that Earth is not going to be habitable for much longer. It’s a one-way trip. The people who volunteered for this mission can never go back. It’s unclear if, when they wake up, there even will even be an Earth in any meaningful manner anymore. They’re going out of any reasonable communication range; they’ll never know.
This ship is flying to a distant, selected planet with a compatible atmosphere for humans. Aside from the atmosphere, though, it’s expected to be a bare lifeless rock. The core crew of seven are awoken from cryo-sleep once they arrive, preparing to spend the next decades terraforming the planet to meet human needs, and only then wake up the ten thousand humans in cold sleep below to have a new planet to live on.
But when they arrive at the planet, when the crew wake up… it’s not a lifeless rock at all. It’s a planet with a complex, vibrant, living ecosystem, full of complex, vibrant, living beings.
This is a GREAT setup. What a difficult story there is here about hope and horror, wonder and fear, trauma and duty, the realization that you’ve committed the rest of your life to a plan that’s been blown out of the water, that your responsibility to the people in your hold cannot be your only responsibility anymore, that you have so much to learn about this place and you can’t just change it to your will, it already exists. What is your duty to the people you brought with you for a promise of a new, better life, vs. your responsibility to the forests, the oceans, the animals, the whales and the dragons, that already live here? What do you do now when this is not what you planned for at all?
And TPNaN answers these questions by going :) it’s fine :) the fact that it’s already ready for them is awesome and great :) they’ll just terraform a LITTLE bit of the planet :) just enough for a human city :) they all compromise very quickly on this plan :) every conflict is resolved quickly and easily by being nice to each other :) these people do not owe jack squat to anything that already lives here and they are perfectly in their right to treat them like wild animals, curiosities at best and threats that need to be fought off at worst :) they never ever once wonder about their responsibility to learn about this place before they plop down and start terraforming it :) this is a wonderful gift just for them :) this planet needs a name. nobody ever once even slightly wonders if the inhabitants of this planet have a name for it. They’re not people after all
(when they learn that oops these native inhabitants are conscious, thinking people, this prompts a reckoning from nobody because hey look they’re friendly and happy to help)
#I want the story where it devolves into factionalism between the captain + the doctor (duty to humans and their mission comes first)#vs. the ecologist and the meteorologist (we have no right to change things let alone claim this planet as ours)#I want it to get vicious. I want anguish#But no the show has them sweetly braiding each other’s hair and talking about hope and having paaaaainful romance plots#And treating the dragons in the forests as like. Bears. Wild animals that need to be fought off. No curiosity about them at all#Until the very end where the dragons turn out to be shapeshifters who want to help the humans :)#No resentment no ‘hey uh did you know you’re tearing up our forest. wtf’#And no reckoning no ‘oh shit we assumed you were nonsapient because it would make things way easier for us if you were.’ Nada#This Podcast Needs An Editor#cozy colonialism#This is what I mean

Ship in a Bottle / The Tulpar
(explanation in tags)
A ship in a bottle
Throttle the neck
And shake back and forth
Put a cork in the mouth
The captain hesitates
The warning signs scream
The screens are all dripping
And glistening red
A ship in a bottle
The air is hissing
Bleeding from seams
While the engine keeps quiet
There's something itching
At the base of the skull
The skin has been flayed
The hull is not breeched
A ship in a bottle
The Rot is a-coming
Clean the wound
And replace the gauze
Take your pills, captain
Swallow them down
I know its not easy
I hope know this hurts
A ship in a bottle
The cargo hold opened
Like an egg cracked
An embryo expelled
Captain, my captain
You knew this would happen
You knew I would falter
On the rungs of the ladder
Ship in a bottle
The crew are all floating
Turn the pistons
Keep feeding the engine
Swallow it, captain
The fuel that I give you
The only thing pure
On this infested vessel
A ship in a bottle
A rotting carcass
Foam, like pus
Leaks through the tissue
It looks at me, captain
The ship, it keeps staring
Unblinking, unmoving
One bloodshot eye, judging
#sooo I got into the video game mouthwashing and it has been driving me insane#so I needed to write a poem about it#i was particularly striken with the scene of jimmy turning the pistons that he stuck through curly to get him to eat#i interpreted it as jimmy beggining (or continuing) to see curly and the ship as the same entity#how his guilt in causing the crash is linked to both#and his two opposing views of Curly#as the idealized captain and friend who he resents because he envies him#and as a problem that needs to be fixed#something he cant fully take responsibility for because the damage he has done is just too extensive#just like the ship#anyways im rambling#hope the mouthwashing fandom likes this#mouthwashing#jimmy mouthwashing#curly mouthwashing#captain curly#poetry#poems and poetry#original poem#pony express

My great-grandfather was born in Brooklyn in the 20s and I feel like this fandom needs to read an excerpt from his memoir:
"On Sunday, after doing half a day’s work, I’d go home, wash, and change my clothes and with a couple of my friends, we’d go to Coney Island. The West End or Seabeach line took us from Canal St., Manhattan, to Surf Ave., Coney Island. I’d try not to spend the entire dollar there. I always saved at least one nickel for the train and one nickel for my mother. I never failed to bring Mom a bag of colored popcorn. She loved it and I never disappointed her."
IS THIS NOT SO STEVE CODED 😭😭😭😭😭😭
#he would not have liked being compared to Steve because he was a Sicilian immigrant and resented the Irish but oh well#steve rogers#captain america#catfa#catws#bucky barnes#coney island#brooklyn

whiny rant about tomb of dragons below, spoilers abound
the thing is that thara being In Gay Love with iäna and perhaps even wanting to bang iäna while iäna is aro and heterosexual — that would be Extremely Interesting, throw a bit of a wrench into their friendship, but then they could still admit that they’re each other’s closest relationship and work thru the awkward and be the qpr of our dreams. it didn’t have to be Homosexual Romance, i just wanted them to be together because that’s been Thee Dynamic of the series, outside of thara and ulis. but instead it’s No I Just Love You As A Friend, No Problems! x2, and then it’s free reign for thara to have almost no compunctions about just. leaving iäna behind, not much more thought than leaving anora or even chonhadrin, because don’t worry! His Flame-Eyed Captain is coming with him! and Homosexual Romance is what really matters, not the characters involved or their development together over time!
i loved the external plot stuff in this book, the dragons and the miners and the murders, and thara hanging out with csevet and maia some. but while i can easily picture rereading the first two amalo books, i just can’t picture picking this one up again. a goodreads review said the book had been soured by the treatment of thara and iäna’s relationship, and that’s exactly how it feels: soured. it leaves me with a gross feeling in my mental stomach. again, i don’t think thiana being joever would have hurt nearly as much if olgarezh hadn’t been shoehorned in as a clear and obvious Replacement Gay, with whom thara has no chemistry, no background, no development, whom we’re supposed to root for anyway because Homosexual Romance. it stings a lot. thara and iäna both deserve better.
#the tomb of dragons liveblogging#it’s. well. im having a hard time. trying to be objective but stuck in my love for them together and separately#i really just resent Captain Flame-Eyes. i just don’t want to think about him at all

Lieutenant Price sasses too close to the sun; Captain Macmillan makes full, unflinching eye contact as he adds burpees and Bulgarian split squats to the HIIT rotation for that afternoon's fitness session in response.
#captain john price#major general macmillan#Price goes from being a legend to most resented officer on base in 0.5 seconds.#macmillan tames that feral creature through a combination of peer pressure bollockings and cunning#and even then he isn't entirely successful

I recently purchased the new book 'secrets of the clone troopers' that's written and narrated by Rex as sort of a memoir and it's AWESOME with tons of information and beautiful illustrations! 🥺💖💖💖
And we all know that trauma comes free with your fucking clone troopers but NOT HIM CONFIRMING THAT THEY ALL HAVE DADDY ISSUES? 😭😭😭😭

#jane journals#self insert talk#kinda#💙 oh captain my captain 💙#THIS KILLS ME SO BAD 😭#the troopers have no parents! all they have to look up to is jango#and he doesnt even want them?? S I R#like you gotta remember that even if its for a short time clones are kids too at some point#and jango LIVED on kamino while the army was being raised so he probably straight up ignored them#or just treated them like tools. nothing special.#i wonder if any other clones held some sort of resentment for boba bcs he was the ONE#the one jango chose to love and treat like his child#i mean he wasnt a FANTASTIC dad as given by boba's trauma too#his abandonment issues and emotional walls and such#but then REX GOES ON TO SAY THAT IF JANGO HAD LIVED HE MIGHT HAVE BEEN PROUD OF BOBA LIKE MY GUYYYYYYY#I CANT HANDLE ALL THIS 😭😭😭😭

joplittle where jopson tries to stop little from leaving for another jaunty trip over the erebus and little only acknowledges his worry just enough to ask him if it's as simple as that, then why doesn't he do it? then helpfully reminds him that his own orders are a direct result of jopson's obedience.
#joplittle#let's build resentment!#the captain likes you far more than me thomas so why don't you take your own advice?#and then thomas is like#it's much more complicated than that#but edward tells him to talk to the hand because he's the one who's risking his life each time he goes out#have you forgotten the man eating bear thomas? hm?#anyway something to think about

Honestly a sorry from Curly would mean nothing to Anya.
I’m not saying she wouldn’t want to hear it, it’s a hollow vindication. She told him and he couldn’t hear her. He saw it and he couldn’t understand it. They both experienced it and he should apologize that it took that for him to get it. She already knows he’s sorry but what’s the point if neither of them can do anything about it? It’s earnest but at the same time what she wants an apology for is what Curlu can’t apologize for.
He can’t be sorry for what happened to her even if he is. Even if he carries that guilt with him until the day he dies it’s not all his to bare. The most heinous parts aren’t his weight even if he tries to balance it. A part of her bitterness is the fact he can’t be sorry for it all. She can’t just direct it all towards him even if she wants to. She was failed in so many ways by all of them. It hurts with him the most cause he had the power but they all did nothing in the grand scheme of things.
The one person who should apologize would never and could never, it’s not something you can be sorry for. She wants an apology, she needs one but what would it fix?
#my two scents on apology scenerios cause like if she heard it I think it would just make it worse#likes she’s happy in a bitter sweet way like I don’t know why people need Anya to be actively resentful and mean about it like that’s nots#satisfying none of this story is satisfying in anyway shape or form and I want to write scenerios that really aren’t that like it’s real#it’s raw it’s in character for her to sort of forgive Curly but not accept his apology cause it’s worthless and that’s the tragic part of i#in a world where they escape and he apologizes he’s forever haunted by the fact she’ll never accept his sorry and she’s forever haunted by#the justice she didn’t really receive like for those that like them together it’s alway the unspoken bitterness of all his actions carry an#act of apology while she will never accept it as such cause he can’t say it and do anything about it nor what he’s apologizing for she can#learn to forgive him for the mistake understand the circumstances even if she doesn’t agree or wishes he’d known better but it’s forgivenes#based on she wouldn’t do that to herself to hold it against him forever he’s paid for his sins in watching the effects of his inactions and#having so much taken just like her but it didn’t have to happen and that’s why she can never accept the sorry#there shouldn’t be a reason he has to be sorry but there is idk they are so much to me like platonically#the only way I pair cishet straights together#mouthwashing#mouthwashing game#anya mouthwashing#nurse anya#captain curly#curly mouthwashing

there is something to be said for the fact that rumours about froi collaborating are apparently fairly widespread. like 1. who snitched. 2. im starting to think that maybe the wider community werent very fond of him
#because how are talon et al hearing this regularly enough to be upset by it. fellow nobles sure i know they hated him. but the villages?#did they hate him in sayles too lmfao.....#like i really think his experience of lumatere is um. different. from every other lumateran we see. like it is obvious lol because everyone#else is always talking about lumatere the country oh we love it etc etc whereas for froi it is always in the context of the people he loves#& at the end of book 1 they so clearly think it's a time thing & he'll come round & then we get to 3 years later & he just hasn't.#like ok stop me if im not making sense right. but it's like random foreigner inexplicably gains favour of queen & her consort becomes ward#of a noble family trains special with the captain of the guard & gets his learning from the priestking. & he's argumentative & clearly#functioning on a different social script so he wins no points there. that's the outsider pov. i suspect there may be some resentment LOL#[like. i have some thoughts re the calling gardo of the flatlands a horse's arse thing. there's implications there for fools like me]

Yeah the mouthwash game is pretty good

#the klock keeps ticking#gonna have to stew on this one a lot and probably go back from the beginning and analyze everything#but uhm. damn it goes so hard#just some things I WAS able to pick up that I wanna highlight#the whole ‘take responsibility’ thing has so many meanings but the way jimmy avoids responsibility for everything thats his fault#and takes responsibility for all the wrong shit like taking on the captain role after the crash and his ‘reckoning’#is him so not getting it at all and taking it upon himself to ‘save’ curly#he really does go ‘i learned my lesson’ while not learning shit its so good god#its so infuriating how it ends and its so good and it hits too hard ugh#i love the way curly is portrayed like he does seem like a nice well intentioned guy and a good leader#but like. everyone except anya is a man. so first off we cant say hed be as well regarded if more women were around#and the way he enables jimmy its too real like. he personally hasnt seen jimmy be that way so oooh#surely he cant be beyond reasoning with surely he just needs someone to talk to#its a very good subtle way of showing complicity cuz curly really isnt ill intentioned but he doesnt grasp the severity#and anya is trapped in this really unsafe position and her other coworkers are a kid and a drunk#also the way she acts around jimmy in his pov where shes like praising him is like#can be interpreted as her being scared of him and trying to stay on his good side#or jimmy being full of himself so his image of her is warped as some damsel fawning over him#and the way curly post crash cant speak or move he can just watch with one eye#and he in a very fucked up sense ‘takes responsibility’ for not putting his foot down with jimmy cuz he watches the guy be a horrible#captain and he literally experiences frequent assault cuz oooghh god the painkillers oof#their dynamic is very well written just the resentment and adoration jimmy feels is so fucked#he wants to be the biggest man he sees curly as the cake at his special party#forces curly to eat his own leg saying ‘someday he’ll thank me’ UGHHH#also the mouthwash itself symbolizes a lot of shit ive not gotten to think about yet but honestly one of the hardest hitting parts of the#game for me is the reveal that the stuff these people were risking their whole lives to ship was just. mouthwash. poor quality too#like stopppp its too real like we’re supposed to devote our lives to capitalism and kill ourselves for it and its literally for something so#so fucking worthless like you put everything into this but you contribute nothing to society#im def hitting the tag limit so ill finish with. curly in the cryo chamber absolutely going to die and the credits rolling#jimmy is so stupid and you know hes kissing his own ass for this and will survive i hate it its very good
