First Chapter Snippet

Howdy! This is a snippet from the first chapter of my Batman rewrite fic, Batman: Family of Shadows. It's short, but I hope you enjoy it. Feedback is welcome!

The putrid ring of a handgun firing plays in the back of Bruce’s mind, a bad case of tinnitus that never leaves him. The click of the trigger, the hiss of gunpowder igniting and the soft whistle of the bullets as it pierced through the air. The horrid tear of flesh. His father’s body as it fell to the ground. His mother’s cries.

The sound of ivory pearls kissing blood-soaked concrete. 

It all plays in his head, a traumatic loop of sorrow. Bruce wishes he could forget that day, have a magician wave their hand and erase it all, but then it’d be like losing his parents all over again. Bruce doesn’t think he could live through that twice; so it keeps the pain in his heart, a reminder to himself, to never let that happen to anyone else.

Duke & Cass headcanons for Sun & Moon day

• Duke is an introvert who needs alone time to put his thoughts in order. Cass is an extrovert who needs to be around her friends.

• Cass loves boba, but Duke can't stand having little blobs in his drink.

• Cass likes reality tv while Duke likes classic sci-fi and fantasy.

• Cass steals clothes from everyone, Duke only wears things he bought for himself (or the hand-me-down hoodie Dick specifically gave him)

• Cass loves to read, Duke prefers listening to music

• Cass sleeps like the dead, Duke wakes easily

• Cass is a terrible patient when sick, Duke knows how to dial back activities and take care if himself

• Cass's love languages are quality time and physical touch (she wants to spend quality time physically touching you) while Duke's is words of affirmation

But they have similarities, too.

• They both leap without looking.

• They're both brave and foolhardy.

• They're both capable vigilantes.

• They're both future Batmans.

Back on my "the Batkids play Trauma Bingo" bullshit, but Duke manages to win every time. How? He cheats.

The card: Near-death experience by falling of a big height.

Duke: Nice, I got this one.

Dick: Wait, seriously? When?

Duke, the only one who does his patrol in broad daylight and also never writes a correct patrol report: Yup. Two days ago.

Everyone else, knowing they can't verify the information: ಠ_ಠ

The card: Loss of one or more organs.

Tim: FINALLY this one is for me.

Duke: Nice, I got a bingo!

Steph: Wait, you lost an organ???

Duke: Not yet.

Damian: Not yet? What do you mean by "not yet"?

Duke: Well, I can see in the future. And I'm going to lost an organ in the future.

Jason: How can we know it's true? You could totally bullshit us right now.

Duke: Well, how can you prove it's not true?

Everyone: ...

Duke: I mean, I could tell you you'll become bald, but we'll need to wait thirty years to confirm it, so... I win.

It's even funnier if you imagine that the rogues know which nights are family bonding nights and choose those to send out the henchmen they don't like.

Good Morning Bird Boy

Characters: Tim Drake (Red Robin ), Original Character (OC) Synopsis: Just pure fluff. Living together. Morning with your boyfriend Tim Drake. Warnings: Very little sexual references. A/N: Short, but I hope it's sweet. ***=Time jump. Please enjoy! And remember REQUESTS ARE OPEN! -------------------- The sunlight peered onto the bed through the open curtain, illuminating your boyfriend's face, looking angelic as he slept. "You're staring." He said without opening his eyes. "You look so peaceful." "That's a change." He opened his eyes and propped himself up on his elbow. He brushed your hair behind your ear and caressed your face. He leans in closer to your face, "Good morning bird boy," you whisper before his soft lips press against yours and you feel him smirk in the kiss. *** "Coffee?" You ask as Tim walks into the kitchen, towel wrapped around his waist and damp hair stuck on his forehead, little droplets of water glittering on his defined torso. You bit your lip. "You thirsty for something else." He laughed. "Yes, coffee please." You blushed and turned away to hide your guilty face. You prepared the coffee, careful not stain your pink silk pyjamas with any stray drops. The sound of cartoons came from the TV where Tim had taken himself to. "So cute." You muttered to yourself as you heard him giggling like five year old at kids television show. You strolled over to the couch, handing Tim his coffee before sitting, snuggling at his side, head resting on his shoulder. "Careful, it's very hot." You laughed as he took a sip  and yelped at the slight pain on his tongue. *** "So I was thinking that maybe today we could go to the hardware store!" You called from the bathroom, primping yourself in the mirror. "Hm?" He responded. "We keep procrastinating painting the kitchen, it's such an ugly yellow, we need to change it!" You stepped into the doorframe separating the bathroom and the bedroom where he had just finished dressing into a suit and was in the process of putting on his shiny, black shoes. "I can't babe," He came over and gave you a peck on the cheek, "Bruce has asked me to come into Wayne Enterprises today, he needs some help, something has gone wrong in international relations or something. " "Oh..." You pouted. "But we'll try and get it done this weekend." He said as you walked him to the door. "Promise?" "Promise." He turned to look at you as he stood in the hallway of the complex. "And, I was thinking, tonight we go out to dinner, have a memorable time." He winked. "Okay?" You grinned. "Okay, bye sweetie." He grabbed you by the waist and pulled you into a kiss. -------------------------------
