(not an english speaker so I might word things a bit weirdly)

Since this is a conservative world I'm assuming that as little as presenting yourself in a way not assigned to your gender will get you ostracized. Like women wearing suits and men wearing dresses. And having a hobby or job that isn't aligned to your gender will make people hate you even more

With that, I wonder how Cassandra is treated cause she's a soldier yet a woman. I'm pretty sure they won't directly mess with her since she can fold them in half and has a general for a father, but someone is definitely messing with her.

So the answer is a mix of yes and no. The world of OMWAT is based in mixture of medieval times and the 1880's, the world does lean more into traditional norms and gender roles but it also does depend on where you live.

The Broken Isles, where our story takes place, is a large landmass (think the size of Australia) that split in two over time; the two countries that formed as a result are sort of a mirror to a place like ancient greece between Athens and Sparta, in terms of culture.

Romandi would be more like Athens, it's a more progressive place with less strict traditions and more allowing of non-traditional gender roles. With the backlash that there is more room for corruption and very questionable morals with no societal support.

Castellio is Spanish based, reflecting a more Sparta like mindset. They care about strength, faith, and tradition. They might be more conservative with old fashioned views but they place their expectations on everyone equally. Women tend to their traditional roles and men as well, if either falter they are judged by their society. Case and point with Tomás's father, despite the circumstances at the end of they day he committed adultery and is now octricied and publicly condemned for his actions. A man who doesn't properly provide for his family or disrespects his wife's honour; (cheats on her, ruins her reputation or beats her) will have his family taken care of by the church and the wife can be granted permission by the head shepard to file for divorce.

So basically, the pendulum swings both ways, women and men are both punished equally for not meeting their expected duties.

Now as for Cassandra, she does get some wiggle room to be a little un-lady like in terms of where she can go and what she can do. Self defence is allowed and actually quite encouraged for all Castelliones, especially women so that they can defend themselves and children in worst case scenarios. Any family that owns a gun you can expect that anyone of age knows how to use it.

Hand to hand combat and battle tactics is another story though, her father is a little non-traditional in the way he raised her as a single father, who happens to be a high ranking military man. She is very politically aware and physically capable to read a situation and defend herself. These things are not common nor really accepted in Castellion culture, they are considered unnecessary for a woman to know. Not to mention rather unladylike.

So she keeps that part of her underwraps in the face of high Castellion society, she shows it more when she is at military bases and interviewing troops. Some soldiers admire her boldness and volunteer to guard her whenever it's needed, most others probably disapprove but it's not like they can say anything.

Cass's only issue is the fact that she wants to lead her own troop of soldiers and serve in the army with her father but he forbids it, the other generals passive aggressively talk down to her and tell her that she has no place in such a position and that she should better follow her role as a woman. The only reason she doesn't lash out is because it would make her dad look bad. And considering that she has a short temper and a rash attitude, you can imagine her predicament and internal struggle.

The war grinds on; it might be seen on cast of sinewy shoulders of a body just made over three years ago. But you have to look and look carefully at the right hour, at the right stroke of tone. Her weight eases onto the bed and she's tired, but not too tired. Not too tired to smile back; lips full and bare instead of glossy, her eyes shadowed but not from kohl. 

Shepard toes the heel as her lover leans over, openly admiring the curve of back and the muscles flow. Jennet's dark hand skims down over shoulder blade, affectionate and sensual as her own skin goose bumps at the press of weight against her thighs. The sigh is relief as the boots clatter. Cue for EDI to pay attention to something else. And then Jennet pulls long legs into the bed as she turns to Liara.

"Really? I'd never thought you'd be one for syncretism." The smile is in her tone, the smile is on her lips for Liara to see as she sits up, just in time for the human to trace the Asari's brow ridge. And then the blue fabric is pulled over Jennet's head, muscular shoulders bare and civilian bra exposed. And still, Shepard smiles at Liara for a heart beat, to two, to three. Her hands smooth over azure arms and her gaze only drops when she's drawn into a kiss. Soft and sweet; the edge of hunger and longing held in check:

Today's snippet comes from the self-indulgent conclusion to Lynn Shepard's Citadel DLC fic in which she and Garrus create memories together that belong to them alone.

Garrus fidgets as he awaits Lynn’s arrival at the Dark Star Lounge bar. This first date do-over was his idea, something he proposed en route to the Citadel for shore leave. Sure, he arranged their shooting competition on top of the Presidium, but that wasn’t a proper date according to human customs given the guns and still-apparent damage from the attempted Cerberus coup. He wants something more romantic, something that might sweep Lynn off her feet, make her feel as special as he believes her to be.

His idea, yet he’s inexplicably nervous. He watched a lot of vids. Talked to some humans about what ‘dating’ entails, though Joker and Vega weren’t particularly helpful. Even practiced with EDI. But what if he does something wrong? Commander Shepard is a well-known figure; if he embarrasses her—

A flash of white out the corner of his eye reveals Lynn’s entrance. Spirits, she’s beautiful. That suit accentuates her curves in all the right places, an appeal magnified because she’s comfortable in it: head held high, shoulders squared, a smile playing on her lips, almost no evidence in her gait of her recent injuries. She scans the room until their eyes meet; her faint smile transforms into what he’s learned is a mischievous grin. She confidently approaches him, barely dodging a female turian whose presence he hadn’t noticed until just now, someone who would’ve readily caught his attention before he fell in love with the most incredible human in the galaxy.

“Hello, stranger. Come here often?” Lynn asks, her tone playful.

I love the Batfam, so here they are as dogs, because I also love dogs.

Bruce Waye is a Great Dane, tall, strong, can look mean, especially when their ears are cropped like a Doberman, though his aren't. But he's really just a gentle giant who loves his kids and is very very patient.

I know we all characterize Dick Grayson as a golden retriever, but that man is husky, there is no doubt I my mind. He's emotional, over dramatic is his base setting, and he's always down for anything that excites him. And if something makes him annoyed, this man will be very vocal about it and you cannot ignore his temper tantrums.

Barbara Gordon is a German Shepard. Whether as Batgirl or Oracle, she's fierce, loyal, and one she catches onto someone's trail, she doesn't let up and once you're in Oracle's jaws, there's no escape.

Jason Todd is a Doberman, he's loyal, hardworking, caring and cam be very gentle with kids. He was a sweetheart who didn't have his ears cropped until Talia did it for him. But he also knows when to do more than guard, he's an attack dog who's not afraid to do what's necessary, but also knows when to choose kindness over force. Plus he had Dog for a while, so he's good eith other dogs too.

Tim Drake is a sighthound full of grace and beauty, he's a saluki. They're visual based and aren't as fast as a greyhound, but they're good at chasing over a long distance, and if there's something Tim Drake is good at, it's playing the long game. A smart dog for a very intelligent young man.

Stephanie Brown is an Irish setter. She's loyal, friendly, cheerful, compassionate, but she's still a hunting and gun dog who knows when to go get the prey in question. We stan our Robin queen eho loves purple and waffles, and Dog Steph is no exception.

Damian Wayne is a Great Dane and Dobermann mixed breed. But he's a hyperactive, annoying little nutcase who doesn't quite get the gentle giant part of his breed yet, but he's learning. I believe he'd have cropped ears and tail because of Ra's and Talia, which makes him look and help him act even more emenacing, but his real temperament is more Great Dane than anything else, which helps him really embrace being his father's son.

Cassandra Cain is unique, she has Shiva's mutation and is a solid black dalmatian. She's a scary dog with a bad reputation, but really, she's a sweet heart who might get things wrong sometimes, but tries very hard to be a good girl. Even when she's the strongest and fiercest fighter of them all, Cass is docile and loving at heart.

Duke Thomas is a silly nutball of a pit bull who really doesn't know how to be a bad guy or mean. He's friendly, open, and there's a reason he's Gotham's day time hero, because he shines with sun and has the biggest grin whenever he gets to do some good. He'd never hurt a fly, but when it comes to his family, he knows how to protect and fight with the best of 'em.

Alfred is an old staffordshire bull terrier, and no one would survive without this nanny dog who is always exasperated, but loves his chaotic little family.

She also has the potential of harnessing great artistic ability, which is also a verse dependent thing ( all boiling down to how much time she devotes herself to art and actively studies it. )

▌ FAMILY MEMBERS:   The Littlejohn Family is enormous. There were her grandparents, Amos & Elizabeth, their children which includes her father William as well as a host of cousins spanning on both her paternal and maternal side. ▌ PETS:   When she’s young, she has a Cocker Spaniel named Lady. Who is accompanied by two other Cocker Spaniels depending on the verse. There is also Solomon, a German Shepard. He’s her main guard dog in most scenarios. Finally, there’s Pepper. A black cat who is more of Sal’s pet due to the feline’s favoritism. 

▌ SOMETHING THEY DON’T LIKE:   Feeling unheard, whether it be an important or unimportant scenario.

▌ HOBBIES/ACTIVIES: she’s a follower of 80s/90s fitness trends, Jazzercise in particular. Also, does a lot of at home workouts. Plays sports like tennis. Reads romance & erotica, shopping, getting her hair done, seeing plays and musicals in Manhattan, attending local art exhibitions, dancing.

▌ EVER HURT ANYONE BEFORE:   In some emotional form.

▌ EVER KILLED ANYONE BEFORE:   Verse dependent, in canon she carries a gun in her purse but there’s been no reason for her to pull the trigger.

▌ ANIMAL THAT REPRESENTS THEM:   Has the demeanor of a housecat, but the lifestyle of a lioness. 

▌ WORST HABITS: Prone to severe passive-aggression if she doesn't like you, says little about her negative feelings yet expects those around her to catch on when something isn’t right, tries to repress many of her negative emotions, makes expressive faces without realizing, subconsciously ‘turns her nose up’ at certain things, smokes heavily whenever stressed.

▌ ROLE MODELS:   The women her grandfather had relationships with. They molded her heavily. Delores also values her time spent with old mob wives.

▌ SEXUAL ORIENTATION:   Bisexual. The degree of how open she is open with her sexuality varies verse to verse, though.

Delores aims for having only long term serious romances. ( as a millennial she can admit that maybe she’s old fashioned in that kind of aspiration, but she doesn’t want to waste her time on people who don’t care about her. )  Now, Delores feels marriage is based on mutually choosing someone to be with. But more than that, it’s choosing to support them and help them survive through life just as they help you. In regards to children, Delores on default wants two or three. Not one. This is because she felt very lonely growing up and in her perspective, a big family is likely to ‘radiate love.’  

▌ FEARS:   Thunderstorms. Losing her children, whether it be through abduction or murder.  Break-ins. Men she doesn’t know. Snakes. And ferrets, because they are snake like.

▌ STYLE PREFERENCES:    90s designer dresses and diamonds. High quality lingerie.

▌ SOMEONE THEY LOVE:   ​​Her family. 

▌ APPROACH TO FRIENDSHIPS:   It was more difficult for her to have friendships in her childhood than it is in her adulthood. Delores just didn’t get social cues and she seemed weirdly ‘old’ which other kids did not like. Now in adulthood this reserved demeanor comes across much differently. There are plenty of women who want Delores to be their ‘friend’ and she goes out with them for the sake of being polite, but she always keeps her distance. However, if Delores considers you a true friend, she’ll spend most of the day with you. Take trips out of the state with you. Vent to you. Let you vent to her. All and all, she’ll spend hours on the telephone talking about any and everything.

▌ THOUGHTS ON PIE:   Not everyone can make a pie properly.

▌ FAVORITE DRINK:   White Wine.

▌FAVORITE PLACE TO SPENT TIME AT:   She loves the atmosphere of Los Angeles.

▌ THEIR TYPE:   She’s always been attracted to people with brighter demeanors than her own. Even when she scoffs or rolls her eyes, she’s secretly thinking of how cute and funny they are. She likes it when people have a sense of adventure to them, because she actually craves new experiences and they’re the best person to get this thrill from! But more than that, Delores is attracted to people who care about those around them, showing that they are not self-centered. People who have a moral code, integrity. In the end, these things are far more important than how charismatic someone is.

Shepard didn’t think there was anything harder than to watch a friend doing something she thought was a bad idea and having no alternative but to let them go through with it. The way Ryder endured the severe cramping, the way everything she had been eating came back up just hours after Shepard administered the drug, the gut certain feeling Shepard had she was killing Ryder just by helping her — it all sat horribly against her gut, making her feel like she was about to throw up. 

“It will all be over soon,” Ryder said. Shepard couldn’t say if it was to comfort Shepard or herself. Maybe both.

“Will you come with me later?” Ryder had been asking her this over and over again, as if Shepard hadn’t already told her without a shadow of a doubt she wouldn’t allow Ryder do this alone. 

“I will.” Shepard squeezed her hand. “You’re not doing this by yourself, not again.”

The smile Ryder offered her was tight, so tight it looked like it was extracted from her at the point of a gun. Shepard’s suggestion to borrow credits from the Nakmors, from Vidal. Fuck, even T’Soni — Shepard was reasonably sure T’Soni would happily provide it. It was all met with a firm and steadfast refusal. 

That fucking Ryder stubbornness. Shepard prayed this was all worth it, Ryder was wrecking her body just for those credits.

Mantle of Flames NPCs

Yes I know I said it's be on thursdays and Monday's but I feel like it's important to get some base info out there. Warning this one will be long. And expect another one today or tomorrow explaining the lore of the world and the plot so far.

So here is a list of a good bit of the NPC's in MoF. Or at least most of the important ones.

-Bao Moonclaw: High Elf Emperor of the city their centered in (called Alamoa) and leader of the council. Very overworked and the party constantly almost ending the world does not help.

-Anastasia Moonclaw: Human wife of Bao. A sweet girl who enjoys flowers and is very protective of her daughter.

-Grendel Moonclaw: Tiny half elf child. Like 8-10 (I'm not very good at remembering ages) who loves befriending everyone.

-Inari Belladonna: Human sorceress. Council's Master of Magic. Chaos aunt to the group and also the first council member the group met and befriended. Also a disaster lesbian.

-Kythor: Teifling rouge. Council's master of secrets. Very elegant but not afraid to kick ass. Interacts with the party the least.

-Toxan Bacrath: Black dragonborn barbarian. Council's general. The large friend that gets strong so he can hug all his friends really well. Once threw Canary 20 feet.

-Carric Hilahila: Highelf cleric of Correlon. Council's master of religion. Sweetness incarnate. Currently dating Mairon after helping resurrect her, forming the perfect diabetes couple. Used to be named Carric Vax.

-Warryn: Gnome bard. Council's master of Import/Export. Happy Scottish party boy who loves talking to the party. However, they forgot about him for 27 sessions, until Jet berated them. Now is a favorite council member.

-Raven: Human(?) Shadowmancer. Council's master of public relations. Took over the council position after Zeanna turned traitor. Edgy boy who is actually a living rift to the shadowfell barely held together by the magic of a fiend. Constantly at risk of basically exploding and opening a giant rift.

-Erabus Nerezza: Woodelf monk. Council's master of the mines. Took over the council position after Vistra's death. Used to be an adventurer till her whole party was killed fighting the tarrasque. Now is a Proxy (a person that can come back after death but loses a part of them each time, like Althaea) and trying to help the party.

-Buck: Human bard. Leader of the high guard of Alamoa. Full name is Buckamire Archibald Kingsley. Currently dating Canary and took full responsibility for anything the party does in the eyes of Bao.

-Kyofushin: Aracanalolth wizard/archivist. Kyo for short. Was supposed to be a one off shop keep character but the party instantly adored him so he became a major NPC. Died about a year ago giving his life to save Canary then the party went to hell to rescue him. Basically the mom to the party. Everyone's favorite NPC.

-Mordred La'Fae: Human fighter. Buck's apprentice and head high guard in training. Somehow Neutral Good despite being incredibly Lawful and focused on Justice. Hates Alistair with a burning passion because he knows how evil Alistair actually is. (The DM calls him a Cassandra). One of the DM's favorite NPC's.

-Ressa: Cloud dragon. Yup. The group befriended a cloud dragon. She's very old (described as beyond ancient) and mute and a sweet girl. Basically the grandma of the group.

-Haeldriia: Drow wizard. Was the big enemy of the first arc as she used to be a drider, but the party cured her and now she's a sweet girl who is in love with Inari but to guilt filled to make a move.

-Morgana: Human fighter. A high up member of the high guard. Took over as head when Buck was temporarily kidnapped. Also was Alistair's mistress for a while. That didn't end well.

-Lilith Wardein: Human Paladin. Eldest Daughter of Alistair and Maev. Seemed to be following in her father's footsteps but now, with a budding crush on Mordred, might be dragged towards the light of good.

-Sam Altava: Hybrid Gunslinger. Used to be a skyrate (Sky pirate) but ran away as a child and then was raised by Kyo. Invented guns and then started dating Raven. Really hates his sister but would still die for her. Honorary member of the party.

-Tazd Nightwind/Shepard: Drow elf Rouge/gunslinger/cleric of Paelor. Oh boy has he been through a lot. A teenager member of the cult that was originally tortured by the party for information before he escaped and returned later to fight the party. They failed to kill him and he left the cult to become Sam's apprentice where the cult poisoned him for turning traitor and the party had to save him. Became a sweet boy adopted by Canary who just wants to pet horses but keeps getting dragged into the party's drama. Basically, this boy has been through too much, let him rest.

-Kovu Nightwind: Drow rouge. Older brother to Tazd. Very very edgy and refuses to accept his adoption from Canary but lives on her farm anyways to be with his brother. Would sell any of them out for a corn chip and they know it.

-Maev: Human witch. Insainly powerful witch. Don't mess with her. Or cheat on her. Alistair.

-Zeanna: Gnome hard. Used to be a member of the council but turned traitor to help the cult. Now seems to be working with the big bads of the whole campaign. The party really really hate her to an insane degree despite only meeting her like 3 times. But she got away, so she must die.

-Lynn Altava: Hybrid Fighter. Captain of the skyrate ship the DawnRunner. Sam's little sister. Bit of a chaos bitch but has never actually wronged the party despite threatening to multiple times.

-Neer Altava: Half angel Fighter. Lynn's first mate. Chaos boy who will die to protect his friends and gets himself into trouble a lot. Got captured by rival skyrates once. Once jumped off a cliff showing off only to clip his wing so Jet had to save him. Currently training Jet to be a better half angel.

-Aiden: Head angel of Bane. Father of Neer and has a very complex sympathetic background, asks tough to hide it but just loves his son.

-Shadow: Head angel of the Raven Queen. Mother of Jet. Stoic and quiet and fiercely loyal to the Matron. Try's not to show how much she cares for her son.

-Zephyr: Winter wolf. A winter wolf that was guarding a dungeon and they befriended and brought back to town. Now has a whole pack including his pup, 2 winged wolves, a wolf dragon hybrid, a Druid, a dire wolf, a giant owl, and the cloud dragon. Is a tired dad that doesn't know how he ended up leader of this mishmash pack.

-JewlClaw: Green dragon. A new addition to the story. A beyond ancient green dragoness loyal to Tiamat that killed the cousin of Mairon before making a deal with her so help free her from her mother in exchange for any redeemable favor. (With some minimum restrictions)

Bonus guest characters, aka other players that came in for a few sessions:

-Valefar: Drow warlock. Absolutely ridiculous drunkard and betrayed the party twice to help the cult. Was part of the big bad fight of the first arc.

-Titus: Aquabant monk. Tired skyrate who didn't want to be responsible for this ridiculous party. But they kept dragging him along. Also really wanted to punch a dragon but kept rolling horribly.

-Shadow Dragon: Dragon of growth wizard. A quiet girl with a confusing name. Just there for the chaos but ever one of the rare lines she uttered was absolutely scathing.

She’s strong, has freckles, beautiful green eyes, rosy lips. Whether with scar or no, she is a beautiful woman. I wish they had implemented her sooner, but I am glad she is here now. She got the makeup game on point. She got a sharp jaw. I love sharp jaws, like on Cassandra Penteghast. The armor definitely ads to it, of course. Love a woman in armor with a big gun or a sword. She also sounds very nice. She has a good voice.

Like, there are some really GOOD ideas in Inquisition. But between not exploring them enough and being... VERY white privilege imperialistic about some really delicate details, trying to do so much at once... Yeah, there’s just way too much HAPPENING here to give the thoughts and ideas going on here their due.

Like... The Breach and Corypheus, the Mage-Templar War, the Orlesian Civil War, and Solas are the major plot points that everything comes down to (Yes, I’m cutting out the Wardens - the demon army counts for the Corypheus plot and the Wardens could literally be any random doomsday cult). So instead of doing EVERYTHING, pick two, my vote being the two separate wars waging at the same time.

The Mage-Templar War has been building and building since Origins. This was an inevitability we were always going to have to deal with. You cannot lock people away in prisons for their entire lives and not expect that to blow up. This was where DA2 hinged its major endgame plot points on, it needed follow up. Instead, it’s almost entirely offscreen, barring the skirmish between extremists that supposedly both sides had washed their hands off when we first go to the Hinterlands, and gets superseded by ‘hey Tevinter/hey Envy demon, and oh look, the side you didn’t go to is now working for the big bad.’ 

Like... What was even the POINT of all this, if the end result is such a non-event? The Mage-Templar War began because of systematic problems that need to be addressed. The biggest challenge here is how this is something that could literally change the landscape of Thedas, and the practical reality element of resolving it and still continuing this universe kicks in.

Which is easily solved by NOT having us play the Inquisitor - instead of being the Admiral, make our PC the Captain. Instead of Starfleet Command, we’re Captain Kirk. Hell, make that our background variations - depending on class, maybe, we take on the role of a different adviser, maybe, where we’re in a position where we get a voice, but the leaders are still making the final decision, and there are other advisers giving other opinions. We can push things in different directions, but we don’t get the final say. Make “the Inquisitor” a character who is not there to fight directly. 

It’s imperfect but... Like, this is the problem with writing an ongoing universe, the toys have to go back on the shelf in a certain order or we’ll never get a continuation. And yeah, people complained how Hawke was pulled along by fate, not changing anything, but REALISTICALLY, a player can only change so much about the setting. Try to do too much and your hands get tied as that setting continues. We saw that in Mass Effect, there’s a reason that Shepard didn’t get to decide how to reshape the entire galaxy until the end of the trilogy, when the story was being wrapped up.

It’s why the characters NEED to be the most important part of the storytelling, Which, again, is what makes Inquisition fail so much. The characters are almost all static, there to voice views and opinions without budging. Nothing you say or do causes Cassandra to question the Chantry’s attitudes more than she does - she never addresses how they wrong the non-faithful. Sera is a prankster set against the nobility er, the Dalish, for some reason. Vivienne is hitching her star to the rising Inquisition to ensure that she can retain her position and power, Dorian makes no advances towards redeeming Tevinter... These characters are all just THERE, you’re only seeing different sides of them, not seeing them grow and evolve over time. Even the characters who go through major events, we don’t see the result - Bull has the choice between the Chargers and the Qun, we don’t get any follow up outside of the immediate reaction. Cole becomes more spirit like or more human like, and while we get a follow up conversation where he effectively blurts out that’s he’s different, we don’t actually get to see how this plays out within the game’s structure.

Which is just bizarre, considering that characters are usually the HEART of BioWare writing. I swear, I know I joke that Inquisition is a first draft accidentally released as the final, but it’s things like this that really do make it seem like this is no joke, this is really how it happened.

And it’s why I say that Trespasser is Inquisition’s missing third act. It was no epilogue, it was vital to the story. THIS is where the various Chekov’s guns that have been placed start firing. This is where there’s pay off for the characterizations and arcs. Hell, it was important for the Inquisitor, to this idea of deconstructing the Chosen One narrative - I’ve criticized that Inquisition plays straight elements that were deconstructed in prior games, and it’s because all of the deconstruction happens in Trespasser, not the base game. Solas reveals how much of an accident the Inquisitor really was, that he was the real threat the whole time, that he was using the Inquisitor, manipulating them the whole way through - sure, the players get that after the base game’s credits roll, but the character gets none of that, because it has no effect, it’s not something that the character knows.

THIS NEEDED TO BE IN THE GAME PROPER. Like, whatever else there is to say about the DLC model, your game and your story should ALWAYS be complete without needing the player to pay for more. DLC should be where you explore elements you couldn’t fit into the base game or were too much of a pull away from the main story. If it recontextualizes everything that’s come in the whole game, that is something that NEEDS to be in your base game. 

Just... You know, go back to the drawing board, put everything back where it was before Inquisition, and let’s try this over again, take it from the top, because for everything that went right for Inquisition, three more went wrong.

And yet it was ANDROMEDA that was considered bad storytelling and got DLC dropped? At least Andromeda resolved its main plot in the base game from the beginning... #StillBitter

I am no longer Commander Shepard’s number one fan. 

You probably think I’m going crazy. Wow, the man who used to have every poster, every holo, vid, interview, article about her (I even have a collectors edition of her action figure!), who believed in her even when they called her ‘Butcher of Torfan’ is no longer her number one fan. Preposterous. 

But I’m not crazy. No, see I met Commander Shepard in person-in person. She was right, there! In the Wards! With me! Wow, she was even more stunning in person. I have a picture of her. A real picture, not the fake Alliance posters or from interviews.

The best bar at the center of the multiverse is crowded as shit.  xD

Mira, Risha, Tanno, Temple, Sky, Thane, Nathaniel, Sigrun, Sebastian, Varric, and Sera playing paintball.  Sky is surprisingly good and irritatingly hard to target.

The Iron Bull, Akaavi, the Black Whirlwind, Cassandra, Wrex, Vega, and Grunt having a free-for-all fighting match (think WWE Royal Rumble), then buying each other drinks afterward.

HK-47, SCORPIO, and Zevran discussing their favorite assassinations; Leliana is also at the table but is keeping her stories to herself (thus far).

Silk Fox, Miranda, and Vivienne all at a table (on the second floor, of course), deep in discussion about the pressures of perfection and their various outlets for relieving their stress (also, how they’re really just better than some people), over drinks (“top shelf, darling, only the best will do”)

Zaeed, Garrus, Andronikos, and Canderous talking about their favorite guns and showing them off.  Of course there are shooting contests.

Carth, Cullen, Kaidan, Ashley, Aric, Samara, Rusk, Pierce, Aveline, Javik, Iresso, and Quinn discussing the pros and cons of service and duty and trading stories (over beers, of course).  Pierce has promised he won’t punch Quinn; Quinn has promised he’ll try to sound a little less officious (maybe).  Iresso is impressed at how Aric’s relaxed (at least a little).

Solas, Abbot Song, and Justice out on a balcony having a philosophical discussion.  Jolee and Sagacious Zu join them at some point, tired of the “intolerably loud whippersnappers” inside.

Scourge and Death’s Hand back in a corner, commiserating about being stuck in a duty you dislike (and having to serve Total Assholes).

Fenris & Dorian come up to the bar at the same time, things get very tense for a moment … then they buy each other a drink and decide not to fight (they really don’t want Hawke and the Inquisitor involved).

Revan, the Exile, the SWTOR crew, the Spirit Monk, Shepard, the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor all at three pushed-together tables in the back, telling their favorite stories about their friends.  (After my playthroughs, this table has a placard that says “HBICs”.  :D )

The group of boisterous Force users, biotics, and mages doing things invariably preceded by “watch this!” - Anders, Kira, Ashara, Jaesa, Jacob, Jack, Morinth, Velanna, Dorian, and surprisingly, Wynne, shocking everyone with “is that really the best you can do?”, a glimmer of mischief in her eyes.

@victoryatanycost​​ gets a commander shepard

The engines of the ship are oddly quiet; sometimes causing that odd pit in her stomach to drop. Perhaps it was too much time on the clattering engines of starships.

Humnan ships are supposed to make noise -- not there isn't noise. It's caused by humans; filling the air with chatter of regulation and shooting the shit, doors swishing open and feet on metal panels. Engines are supposed to make noise. 

But, she reminds herself as she steps out of the elevator into the cargo bay, this is not entirely human made.

Turians were the bogey monsters as a small girl and became bone-masked creatures, imperial and distant, keeping that fairy tale quality while Batarians were solid and real, crumpling to her biotics or falling with spray of bullets. Even Akuze couldn't scrub that childish apprehension of seeing Spectre Kryik and Lt. Engineer Victus enter the ship. Expressive features held like stone.

A trick learned, Captain Anderson appreciated it. And here she was, approaching the engineer in the engineer room as a good XO should with back straight and firm. 

The turian's ... The bones? Carapace? Yes, carapace .. markings were full faced like the Spectre's but now approaching him she could see minute differences. 

And taller than her, by a lot. They both were. Something of a rarity. "Setting in so far Lieutenant Victus? I think my name was exchanged during formalities, but I'm Lieutenant Commander Jennet Shepard, Executive Officer to Captain Anderson." She offers a hand.

A pause. "... this is customary, right?" A trace of puzzlement across dark brow.
