Now i need to know who the two people allowed to call her Cassie are! (I 'm assuming one of them is Garrus)

Hi :)

Cassidy really doesn't go by Cassidy. She's just Shepard; she's always been Shepard to everyone and it's how she thinks of herself. However, her mom has always called her Cassie and that stayed even as their relationship grew more and more strained over the years.

Liara has always called her Cassidy — she was probably trying to come off friendly and polite and didn't have much experience with humans, so Shepard let it slide. It didn't really bother her anyway — one person calling her by her first name was hardly a tragedy.

Then there's Garrus. She's always been Shepard to him, and he's never once called her by her first name even though she's certain he knows it. It's after his loyalty mission that she finally breaks. It's so emotionally charged and they'd never gotten into any disagreement that strong before and there is so much in the air between them, but he did not shoot her and he did not leave even though it might feel like she betrayed him in a way. They go out and get drunk instead of going back to the Normandy. Silent at first, sitting side by side but not really together. Still so angry and relieved and emotional. Eventually as alcohol replaces their reservations, they start talking. Avoiding the obvious subject for now, but unable to hide that this was definitely an important moment in their relationship and that something changed between them whether it was for better or worse, and they're so exhausted and emotional and drunk, and Cassidy eventually blurts out, why do you never call me by my first name? You're my closest friend, the only real friend I have, if you said it I would let you. Garrus is surprised at first. After what just happened between them, this seems out of the blue for him. Then he awkwardly tries to explain turian sociomilitary norms; how given names are usually shorter than family names, how those few sounds more can be longer to speak out loud and could cost you your life in a combat situation. Shepard laughs at that, you turians are miliary freaks you know? Garrus hesitantly smiles too — if they can still joke around after what went down with Sidonis, this friendship isn't a lost cause. So he explains that this isn't about any distance he's trying to put between them or respecting her as his superior, but simply that her given name, Cassidy, takes longer to say than her family name. Shepard's not satisfied with that explanation — she expected something less pragmatic and more meaningful, but she can see he's being honest. So she takes all the courage given to her by the stress and emotions and alcohol and tells him he can call her Cassie, a nickname she had reserved for family up until now. It's shorter than her last name, and if he's not family then really who else is? Garrus is not sure at first. He's been calling her Shepard for so long, and nicknames derived from your name aren't exactly a thing in turian culture — it feels almost too intimate, too odd. She quickly reassures him that he doesn't need to do anything that would make him uncomfortable and that the nickname is just an option she's presenting him with as a show of trust.

He doesn't call her Cassie a lot, and only ever when they're alone, but she's still Shepard to him. He only really starts switching to Cassie more often well into ME3, as the Reaper War progresses. He knows her so well now, he's so close to her, it feels right to have a more affectionate way of addressing her now that their relationship has likewise become more affectionate and tender. He treats it more like a pet name than an extension of her name; it might be because of his lack of cultural context, might be just because that's how he is. She's still Shepard to him, but when he's feeling affectionate he will break out Cassie. Most often after the war, when they're at their home together and she's going through something horrible and all he can do is just be there with her... He will whisper softly, it's alright, I'm here, Cassie, sweetie, love, you're fine, we're fine, I'll be okay. It's a soft thing, meant for soothing and soft moments. In their day to day, she's just Shepard. But when they're looking into each other's eyes and holding onto each other as everything falls apart around them, when they're the only thing that makes sense, she can just be Cassie with him.

CAN THEY COOK?- project: eden's garden cooking headcanons

detailed explanation for each placement, starting from "let them cook" to "do not let them in a kitchen unsupervised." everything's below the cut:

LET THEM COOK

-ingrid and eloise have big families and they have siblings, so it only makes sense they can cook well. desmond's mom and dad run a chain restaurant, so i feel like he'd be a good cook by proxy. -if there are people you trust to take you to a good restaurant, i feel like it'd be wenona, toshiko, and jean. partially vibes based but wenona would know when those ingredients are good and fresh, toshiko would appreciate expensive but also simple and affordable meals and jean has enough experience around his crew to understand how people's palates differ (as well as having tried a variety of dishes) -grace is an athlete. she will have her "cheat days" but other than that she is DEDICATED. veggies and grains before playing and protein after. i feel like she'd hate those weird health shakes though. she makes and breaks the rules as she wishes

-kai is the type of guy who strikes me as someone who is a good cook. there are a few dishes he can make off the top of his head and they're probably all specific internet dishes (i.e. pancakes, breakfast bowl, veggie pasta... myriad of drinks etc.) buttt i think if you asked him to just fry an egg he'd somehow burn it.

-damon's parents probably taught him how to cook as a life skill and also as #bondingtime. he'd probably know how to make some traditional japanese dishes but like i also feel like he gets a bit lazy with cooking sometimes (either because he's too locked in studying or he's just tired). so like, a bowl of cereal or a boiled egg and plain toast and a banana. i like to think kai and co. bring him to restaurants or cook with him so it's easier.

-diana, diana, diana. if you believe that she is italian then i do think she could cook some great italian food. but in all honesty i feel like half of her meals are things you don't have to cook (as in over a stove or in an oven). diana 100% is a baker though. she is the type of person to bring freshly baked brownies for the class. i headcanon she, ingrid, toshiko and eloise help her out.

-i am so hard pressed to believe these guys eat enough veggies.

-all busy + don't feel like cooking + it's faster to take out food. once in a while they will cook but it is rare. their food is edible to them and that's all that matters

-cassidy is a MENACE on the grill though (proof? that one eden's island promotional art). ask her to fucking grill anything and she will DELIVER. same goes with jett but i believe cassidy is the better grill dad here

-this is a joke but why can I see jett, cassidy and mark going to restaurants guy fieri style

-i feel like eva is the type of person to be like "i can cook" but she ABSOLUTELY cannot. you'll be in the kitchen with her and she would be too embarrassed to admit she can't despite the fact she is continuously failing. she gets the hang of it after a while -wolfgang doesn't know how to do his own laundry so i assume he can't cook (bc he spent all his time studying as a kid) -if you asked ulysses if he could cook he'd be like "sort of?" he can follow a recipe, but if something goes wrong he panics a bit. i think he forgets to feed himself sometimes -i think tozu would make a mean shepard's pie (pun not intended). i feel like he likes french food. while he jokes about british food he finds it very unexciting and bland. he is genuinely a good cook but would absolutely troll you by putting a "secret ingredient" in his food (i.e. putting pineapple in lasagna) unfortunately, this would be ineffective on someone like kai or eva who like "weirder" food combos

What would Damon do if he saw his soulmates being bullied, harassed, or made fun of behind their backs or to their faces (protective Damon is the best Damon).

Much like a cat Damon's at his best when showing he cares and/or being an asshole

◊ Toshiko: God forbid if any adult matchmaking clients try harassing her over dissatisfying results. They'd be lucky to escape with only their sense of worth ripped to shreds by Damon's harsh words. Similar reaction with any bullies above the age of 13.

◊ Eva: We all know she got bullied for being a nerd, but I think having people around that actually care would be a massive confidence booster for her in time. They're just jealous that you get baddies, girl. Would probably just hold Damon's hand a bit tighter and walk away (but he's definitely being her lookout if she later decides to "accidentally" trip and spill her drink on them)

◊ Kai: Nah, he's totally used to haters online, he doesn't need reassuring hugs from his boyfriend at all (lies). After everyone got out, there was definitely some online bullshit about how he didn't immediately resume schedule (like, how dare you take a hiatus to process you trauma //sarcasm). Because there's no person for Damon to directly confront, it's definitely mostly just hugs and comfort food

◊ Desmond: I'm gonna be real, I think he has it covered. Desmond knows that people are just trying to get a rise out of him so he'll slip up, so he simply uses any frustration he feels as fuel for his next training session (he appreciates Damon's righteous anger tho)

◊ Cassidy: I just know in my heart that she got harassed a bunch for being a girl gamer. Has way more experience with decimating these types of people than Damon, but if he insists on cuddles while she games she won't complain ("Cassidy, I'm not insisting on anything" "Just come here you dork")

◊ Ulysses: I can totally see him getting bullied for his condition (imagine being a bully and your victim is like "sorry, who are you?"). Damon's almost more upset that Ulysses doesn't seem to care about the mistreatment. He'd definitely write more often during the day to check on Ulysses

◊ Jett: I feel like most attempts of harassing him would just slide off his back like water off a duck, with the obvious exception of anything relating to the helmet. Imagining a specific scenario where some asshole is ridiculing how Jett's soulmates are "unfortunate" for having him. Damon, having heard similar things in the past, does not react well. It's pure venom, what he spits out at the poor sod (rare situation where Jett is the reasonable one pulling Damon away while he's still hurling insults at the bastard).

◊ Mark: Bro is 100% the type that acts apathetic to the harassment in an attempt to make them bored enough to stop (i am always looking at the managers of young music stars with at least 5% suspicion, especially considering his imitation art). Probably also gets some soulmate-target mockery about not being proactive enough. As soon as he sees Damon, Mark's going into his arm and not leaving until he physically has to. Damon casually brings up that they need Mark more then Mark needs them, and he could easily ruin their careers if he really wanted to (cuz who would ever team up with the people who were abandoned by the Ult. Music Producer?)

◊ Diana: She was definitely bullied by popular girls, but didn't realize for a while because they spoke to her with backhanded compliments and such. Unfortunately for them, Damon will just say it straight to their face that he thinks they're sad and pathetic. He just stands the all smug and proud as they try walking away with their dignity intact. Diana would probably try to tell him he went a little too far (even though she appreciates having someone in her corner).

◊ Wolfgang: Like Desmond, I feel like he has it handled but is thankful for the concern. Tiny angry kitten x calm German Shepard vibes

im proud of this single panel in a comic i sketched for a stupid paranormal au i made with my husband, so i wanted to share it here. backstory under the cut ig if youre interested

venture (earth mage/necromancer in training under baptiste) and junkrat (fire mage/alchemist in training under [reluctant] ana) decided to try and summon a hentai monster in the basement of the elemental school campus for shits and giggles, only to accidentally summon the nefarious incubus roadhog, run away in fear, and forget to close the spell out

reaper uses the portal to escape hell and get revenge on the witch of the wilds, who sent him back to hell after he eliminated the entire time mage village for refusing to share their abilities with him. he finds out that theres one left, lena, who has no clue shes even a time mage to begin with (she thinks shes just the witch of the wilds' apprentice)

genji is an all black werecat with some missing fur patches (shimada family line of demon hunters but at the time of a kill he hesitated and got turned, so yanno. hanzo "killed" him) and he just hangs around between moira's magic shop and the campus with cassidy, his werewolf boyfriend [hes a german shepard])

Looking back, I find it interesting that NCIS hired The Sexiest Man Alive, but ended up developing a character that was, when you think about it, pretty sexless. I'm not saying Gibbs wasn't sexy or couldn't attract women (particularly in those first 3 seasons, holy hell), but once the Shannon story was introduced, the writers really backed away from utilising him as a romantic interest. Think about it- in 18 years, he had 2 on-screen love interests. (I'm not counting Jack, because there was no follow through.)

I mean, it's pretty obvious what kind of character the writers were going for when they cast Michael Weatherley. He was meant to be the womaniser. Fair enough. But I wonder if, in an alternate universe, if the show had been created 10 years earlier and Mark Harmon was 42 instead of 52, if Gibbs might've turned out to be a slightly different character? We got a glimpse of it in seasons 1 and 2. Did Mark predict a long-term future for the show and decided he didn't want to be that middle-aged James T Kirk character? Was that what led them to writing the Shannon story? (Perfect way to avoid putting him in relationships if he's still grieving over his very first.) I mean, it ended up being the best of both worlds, in a way. On one hand, the writers weren't saddled with having to make a relationship work for him, but on the other, Mark was given freedom to flirt, giving Gibbs the attraction without the consequences.

I dunno. Just me thinkin'; it's what I do now that the character's gone. LoL!
