And Tulip feels herself Awaken. She looks down and realizes that despite the size of the image on the strange, stained-glass floor, she can make out exactly what it is; On the outer edge is a ring with a pattern of symbols she doesn't recognize. Lounging on the ring, asleep, is the subject of the piece; herself, in the casual jacket and jeans she'd favored before the world started ending, but with her current long, wild hairstyle, rather than the old shorter straight-cut style her mother had insisted on for the sake of that stupid bun and she hadn't kicked the habit of because short hair was practical for a mechanic. No barber shops in the apocalypse, and she admittedly likes having more to play with now (when she gets the chance to at least), so...

Anyway, in the background is her parents' manor, though it seems to have gone through some renovations as it now suits her own tastes more than theirs, with her van by the front door. Around her head are a collection of six smaller circles, each with a headshot of a different person, all feeling painfully familiar even if she only truly recognizes one. There's her uncle, of course, as well as two girls who look nearly identical to herself apart from their hair color and clothes (are those seriously numbered trucker hats?). Then there's the other three, a boy with spiky black hair under a baseball cap with some kind of rabbit thing on his shoulder, a girl with pointed ears and an impossibly long ponytail, and what seems to be a retro-sci-fi astronaut with a big nose and squinty eyes.

As interesting as the image is, the platform itself is completely empty apart from herself, and she doesn't see any way off apart from leaping into the abyss below, and no matter what her life's been like ever since the Twilight came she's not that desperate.

After a moment, she walks towards the center of the platform, which somehow causes three marble pedestals to rise up around her.

Power sleeps within you...

"Wha..? Who's there?"

She receives no answer. Instead, three objects appear, each floating just above one of the pedestals.

If you give it form...it will give you strength.

Choose wisely.

Not seeing any alternatives, she walks up to one of the pedestals, where a sword waits

The power of the Warrior. Invincible Strength. A sword of terrible destruction. Is this the power you seek?

Well. As cool as having a sword would be, there's a strange tension in the air that tells Tulip she should probably go over all her options first. She moves on to what looks like a magic wand with angry googly eyes

The power of the Mystic. Inner Strength. A staff of wonder and ruin. Is this the power you seek?

"Well, that's not ominous..." She moves to the final choice, a shield

The power of the Guardian. Kindness to aid friends. A shield to repel all. Is this the power you seek?

She returns to the center of the platform, looking between the three paths before her.

Anyone else thinking about how odd the hermitcraft economy is?

in season 9 they had a minor economic recession after the diamond ore war because there were far too many diamonds in circulation making them (hypothetically) worth less than normal and ren stepped in as the king and did what has been done in the midst of a lot of irl economic depressions; he created a government so they could employ the policy of Keynesian economics (basically more gov't intervention to stabilize the economy, it mostly worked in 1930's japan!), he took control of diamonds and even introduced a new currency, royal emeralds (much like Germany after WW1! they had some hyperinflation because of the war reparations they had to pay and the gov't not understanding that printing more money makes the money worth less resulting in the mark [currency] being so worthless they started burning it because they couldn't afford wood for fires. a new gov't came into power and they replaced the mark with rentenmarks which did a lot of fixificating for the economy). Ren's gov't also introduced a lot of gov't funded projects like the quests (the irl equivalent for this would be Roosevelt's New Deal which introduced policies/projects called the Alphabet Agencies (among other things) such as the AAA, CCC, TVA (do you see why they're called the alphabet agencies?) that would adjust the value of grain so farmers could start earning money for produce again and create work that would support a growing economy, projects like building roads and bridges)

so basically, all the policies ren's government introduced were very logically sound and worked in real life to fix the economy (except that irl the Great Depression only fully ended because WW2 started-), the issue is that hermitcraft is not real life and hermits do not behave like real people, they behave like hermits.

lets start with the hermitcraft economy. unlike the real economy, hermits rarely adjust prices according to how many diamonds are "in circulation". i say this despite the fact grian in a recent-ish episode says that "everything costs more this season because diamonds are more common". that can't be true because the caves and cliffs update literally made diamonds more difficult to acquire. I will circle back to this point made by grian later

hermits not adjusting prices by server-wide abundance of diamonds (because they cant really know how much anyone has, much less the total amount of diamonds in circulation, they just know who has a lot and who is broke) means that more diamonds doesn't make them worth less like it did with German marks, it just means hermits have more expendable currency and can spend more money and less time gathering materials for projects. It is also notable that diamonds are constantly being added and taken out of circulation because they're an actual useful currency rather than real life currencies which are symbolic slips of paper. diamonds can be used for armour and tools and it can be acquired by mining. so because of how hermits spend money, taking diamonds out of the economy in s9 did nothing but make them poor and angry at the government. the hermitcraft economy is actually stronger with more diamonds in circulation and is worsened by gov't intervention.

so already the use of real life strategies is utterly useless in hermitcraft economy but there are a few other reasons as well

the hermits tendency to resist government as well as the flawed and greedy government itself are a couple but also the fact that all the hermits are self employed (in real life but also in universe). they own and stock their own shops meaning all profits are more or less direct; its not passed through hands of big corporations so the person producing the product gets mere cents. the hermits are essentially small business owners (which becomes a bit of a problem come season 10 but we're still talking about season 9). The important part is the self employment. the season 9 gov't introduces the quests which mimic and echo real life government funded projects but because they're all employed and the quests gave small amounts of diamonds back, they did very little for the hermits

I'm sure theres more to say but i think its time to move on to the very interesting season 10 economy

if you've missed it you must be living under a rock but hermits are all using permits this season meaning only one shop in the shopping district is selling any given item/material and as a result of this prices have gone sky high. at one point a single stack of mangrove logs cost 7 diamonds when in previous seasons you could get at least 1 stack of wood for 1 diamond if not more

So what is causing this economic depression and hyperinflation?

well, circling back to the point grian made about resources costing more because of abundance of diamonds, I would think it actually costs more because of the permits.

grian thinks the diamond prices are fair because he has middle of the road permits (and is one of the hermits who designed their shopping district, permit and economic system this season so he's biased), there is enough demand to keep him afloat when he's stocked but its nothing people are clamouring for and buying him out. on the other hand, joel made a lot of shops that no one shops at because his objectively weighted permits have not been selling as well as they anticipated when making the permits (also some people like etho and pearl have additional income from their not as fabulous permits because they've made a pay to play game to go with it) and finally there are hermits like mumbo whose gold, iron and item frame shops were constantly getting bought out so he was frustrated with trying to restock despite getting lots of profit

(another interesting dynamic to think about is permits like cleo's book permit which lost value as the season went on because everyone needed books early on but now that they're all playing late game Minecraft, everyone is pretty stocked up and buying from cleo less often)

Basically, grian is satisfied with the pricing because he's middle class and couldn't afford it if they were more expensive but appreciates not being constantly out of stock, joel is unsatisfied because he is lower class and never has enough expendable currency to fund his projects because materials are too expensive and his permits aren't worth enough to sell them for more, and mumbo is unsatisfied because he is higher class and is constantly out of stock because his materials sell out too often and he wants to sell them for more to stay in stock more (classic supply and demand, he doesn't want to stock them as often making the supply lower and the demand proportionally higher making them worth more and therefore more expensive)

the reason i say the permits are to blame for the high prices is because they cause the responsibility of constantly stocking something to fall on one person (in past seasons, if one persons sandstone shop was out of stock you could go check someone else's sandstone shop). the threat of taking the permit away if they arent stocked along with the difficulty of constantly stocking some of these materials raises the cost.

a great example of this is skizzleman because his mangrove and cherry wood shop was one of the first shops to be built in the shopping district, meaning he somewhat set the prices this season. now, mangrove and cherry are both difficult trees to harvest because of their unconventional shapes and the fact that they are more recent additions (and skizz's stubborn desire to design his own farms...) so because of the time required to gather them the prices already were hitched up. add that to the fact that they are trying to constantly be in stock and therefore low prices that allow hermits to completely buy out the shops are unfavourable, and you get sky rocket-ing prices. (it is also difficult because skizz had no prior experience with hermitcraft pricing)

in conclusion... hermitcraft needs a laissez-faire economy (f. a. hayek) to function and not go into economic depression. Between the nature of the diamond currency, hermits' tendency to rebel against governments, the way they use the concept of supply and demand to price their goods, and the restrictions permits put on supplying products, hermits have proven that extensive structure and government intervention have not improved economic wellbeing the way that it does in real life

thus, hermits do not behave like regular humans, they operate on fae laws of its funny so lets do it and therefore must be governed as such (aka not governed), thank you for coming to my ted talk

There's a note on the ground...

This is something I wrote for google-drive-submit, the final capstone in the Susie ARG project, posted on my Tumblr by request. It's a collection of a few thoughts that had crossed my mind since the project ended that I wanted to share. This is something I could talk about for a lot longer, so I promise to not take up much of your time.

I think this is obvious, but the vast majority of things discussed in the Susie ARG do not relate to CCC 12 at all. Susie says as much herself.

This naturally brings up the follow-up question: why do this at all? If none of this matters to the canon, why put so much time and effort into it? And I guess that's a question you can realistically ask of all of SiIvaGunner. Rips take time to become as high quality as they are, right? Why do it at all?

The artistic process is kinda mean like that. It's a lot of hard work for something that feels so… ephemeral. Dust that falls through your hands when moved wrong.

Susie had a few things to say about the channel, the overarching canon, and its people. She said almost everything she desired to say… except she left one straggler she didn't wrap up in time. Kind of a shame really, I think it's one of the more important ones. It's hard to say what that piece would've looked like if it was finished, but after consulting with Susie, I'm sure it would've looked something like this:

"My father said to me that that things tend to repeat themselves, given enough time. Sentience creates understanding, and understanding creates symbols, repetition, abstraction into things we can understand. How fitting, I suppose, that there are plenty of quotes like this…

Have you ever thought about where that lighthouse shows up? It's different every time. To SiIvaGunner it's a landmark of his home, to the AI universe it's a connection to the AI mainframe, to all those other little universes it's one thing or another; and of course, to you it's iconography, a picture to be adapted. Endlessly exploitable, as the deftest symbols tend to be.

I can't help but notice these types of things everywhere… somebody says a random phrase here - "intriguing", "nice", "reverb", there's a million examples - and it manages to travel across the universe and back again. A character talks over here, and their idea shows up somewhere else. Mr. Rental exists in one world, and a place is named after him a universe and half a planet away. Ideas conglomerate, and reform, and repeat; and one domino can add onto what anything means if it's the right time. This isn't a unintended side effect of the system, that's just how these things are here, a world of repeating and combining ideas together.

Then again, in the real world - your world - SiIvaGunner himself is a repetition of symbol, no? His better half. And he, in turn, is a repetition of someone else, who probably was inspired by someone else… so I suppose this was inevitable, in a way."

Out of a morbid curiosity, I decided to go back and look at my first reaction to the release of Prologue and Episode 1 of the CCC in 2016, since I'm lucky enough to still be in that Discord server. It was the kind of reaction you would expect from a 13 year old: making jokes, making unrelated jokes, bad jokes, jokes, so on. But don't misunderstand me - I was excited, and I was glued to the screen.

Fast forward, now - it's 2024. I just turned 21. Episode 11 has finally released, and it's a stellar job, genuinely. I'm in the middle of conceptualizing the Susie ARG, a project dedicated to the nuances of this thing that's been a part of my life for so long... and here I am, making the worst joke ever about how Haltmann couldn't just get Susie with a piano from Super Star Symphony. And putting it onto my pitch document! What am I doing?! Am I stutipd??? I feel like the "what would you tell your past self" thought is pretty cliche, but I'm not sure how I would tell my past self that I'm just doing a higher caliber of the same stupid shitposting he was. I think he'd find it funny, though.

SiIvaGunner's lore has never been the most popular thing on the channel. It feels almost condescending to explain the main reason why in detail - SiIvaGunner's main export is high quality rips. People aren't really coming for the story. But I think there is a second reason worth addressing: SiIvaGunner lore is hard to follow. This is also obvious, but I think the reason it started getting hard to follow is more nebulous and interesting. My current reasoning is that the characters stopped having predetermined story arcs and started living lives, if that makes sense.

Wood Man is patient zero of this. His defection from his predetermined box was relatively simple - an offscreen penchant for movie making. This turned Wood Man, an otherwise dumb side character completely fabricated for the sake of his master's bidding, into, like, a guy. Wood Man & Robbie Rotten turned him into a more complex person, with something from him that we hadn't seen before and he hadn't told anybody. He discussed the time dilation, and everything that implies, and how the world's time moves along. Then he got teleported to The Lost Rip, and the whole predetermined box fell apart completely. He escaped being a dumb side character, and got to do his own thing. He started knowing people offscreen, he started filming more movies, having the chance to hang out and be somebody and mature. He started living. Until… well, you know.

Wood Man's whole deal is emblematic of the tricky thing with the wielding of the passage of time in correlation to real life - the longer time has gone on, the more opportunity our side characters in the SiIvaGunner world have had to live their lives outside of the script and break their boxes. Dr. Andonuts spent so much of his time working, being a character behind the scenes, until he was compelled to come into the light. Joke-Explainer probably spent years wandering Grandiose, doing her own thing, living her life, interacting with people; checking in once a couple of years until we caught up with her for channel host. Haltmann had way more time than he would've to become committed to finding his daughter, and Susie had pretty much her entire existence as a Figment to watch from behind the scenes, until… well, you know.

And it's like, how do you condense that? If your 6 year old nephew turned 15 when you weren't looking, how do you compartmentalize the hundreds of off-screen stories in your brain? You don't, right? These type of things reward being around from the beginning, in a story that has broken its predefined end, and with characters that have had the chance to live autonomously. And that's probably bad for some of the newer viewers, but maybe that's better for some of the characters.

By the tail end of the project, I realized I was a lot like Susie. Not in the literal sense, duh, but in the metaphorical, as a watcher of the story with a lot of opinions, who suddenly got to have those opinions known on the grand stage.

Susie started to sound more and more like me as time went on - or maybe I started to sound more and more like Susie? I'm not sure - as the character got situated in her place. I hope that hasn't been too obvious as you've been reading this document, but it probably has.

Susie and I don't agree on everything. We probably disagree on most things, realistically. But here we had one shared goal - to walk forward with this thing we've been watching for so many years.

All we had to do was try and find the right words.

looking at these post-[Depart] it's interesting how a lot of them make reference to the students' actual talents rather than placeholder ones! sadly the White ccc has hardly any talent references at all in it so we can't really use this to speculate on that

ik people have been comparing Yokoi to Hasegawa bc of her talent but the description/quotes give me kind of a Tsuno vibe personality-wise...? which is an interesting take on an academic-talent character compared to what we usually get in fangans, for sure

my most HOT TAKE is that I'm not sold on Ogura yet... ik ppl love the chuuni act and all but the way it's presented sounds a bit too over-the-top and wacky for a series as grounded as Tetro, like she's a mainline DR character who wandered on-set by mistake (Hifumi Yamada, is that you...?). though gotta admit I am curious what she'd think of MikiMiki, lol. are vtubers 2D enough to count for her...?

other character interactions/potential ships(?) of note that I haven't brought up yet, let's see... I think I've mentioned before in the server Shishikura/Denden could be cute, they're both Nice :) and have sorta-related talents–or maybe Shishi with Sou, or Tsukigata? speaking of Sou, I think he could have some interesting conversation with the other artistically-inclined talents going by the second sentence of his description! on the obligatory-tetro-blue-has-more-yuri side of things, Yokoi/Ouno as the brains + brawn couple like has been mentioned in the server has potential... now to swing away from the more wholesome interactions all of a sudden, comedy option: Kumada and Ogura rivalry(?) over who has the cooler make-flashy-decorated-rides job! clash of the inflated egos! also Ninomiya and Akiba have a similar enough sort of "dumb teenage boy trying to be Cool and Edgy" vibes I think they could be very funny together, idk

but of course, the real Spicy Content, the bit that's especially relevant now that we have Galahad sprite sighting (!!) and thus motivated me to actually take the time to writeup this post... Secondary Character One through Four! the staffside squad!! ever since the CCC first dropped ppl have been speculating Adriano as Three due to the mention of him being Brazilian, but I think we actually have enough to work with to place all four of them now! hear me out:

The staffsiders we don't have official art for yet (to the best of my knowledge, I don't have a paypal to sign up for the kofi sub so correct me if there's smth from that I missed) are: Galahad, Adriano, Tatematsu, Hisa, Ibano, and Kurogome (and technically also Godmother but her being a mokosona makes that. Complicated lol)

With Galahad implied for blue we can slot him into One as the other male voice, so that leaves Two and Four. while Two's description is fairly vague her provided quotes fit Tatematsu's voice very well (just picture it in your head and you'll see what I mean), and Four's description fits with Hisa as the one head who actually cares for her employees. so we didn't get official art of those four bc they were slated to get official talksprites all along! only minor counterpoint is that that kind of leaves the other two/three as odd ones out (I would say they're potential White appearances but there weren't any Secondary Characters in that CCC so ehhhhh), but hey, maybe it's just not that deep, idk

Detective Luigi and The Spletzer Conspiracy

There's been a string of high-profile thefts over the past week, and all evidence points to Meggy, so the police detain her despite her having alibis for most of the incidents. It's up to Luigi and Hal, assisted by Welony and Lily since they were nearby, to investigate and clear her name!

Eventually it's discovered that the culprit was... Inkling Meggy? In her Western Spaghetti outfit!?

As you might imagine, it's more complicated than that. This is actually a young Inkling girl who happens to look almost identical to Meggy's original form, and who stumbled upon one of Mr. L's lairs he forgot to clear out when he moved to the CCC servers. Here, she found a corrupted, but mostly complete, archive of the Western Spaghetti simulation, which L had been combing through to find the source of the equipment.

Due to the interference of a mysterious Benefactor, the Inkling got electrocuted by the equipment, somehow transferring data from the simulation into her brain. This caused her memories and personality to be overwritten by the fabricated memories Wren used to prevent Meggy from realizing what was going on before his Torment started.

Or rather, an alternate version of those memories, from an earlier build where he would've been the heroic sheriff and she would've been the dangerous outlaw, before he and Mr. Puzzles realized it would've been too out-of-character for her.

And so Dead-Eye Meggy was created, and proceeded to go on a crime spree both to frame the real Meggy and ruin her reputation and run some "errands" for her Benefactor... and also because that's just how she's programmed.

She gets away, but there's more than enough evidence to clear Meggy, so now we're left with a new mystery.

...One that's at least partially solved for the audience, as we get a flashback to the scene in the alley during A Snake in Horseland, where after the Crew teleported after Ozzy and Garyboy the severed super suction ear slithered off like an actual snake once night fell and froze partway under a dumpster when it heard something approaching. It turned out to be a Rabbid, who spotted the ear snake, mistook it for a normal plunger and grabbed it to play with it.

This turned out to be a horrible mistake, as the ear sprung back to life and lunged at the Rabbid's neck (as much as it has one anyway).

The Rabbid screamed in pain and fear and the shot jumped to the alley wall, where the shadow of the Rabbid's futile struggles could be seen.

Rather than simply dying to the venom like you'd expect, the shadow instead became distorted as the Rabbid was somehow transformed, becoming larger with more exaggerated propertions.

Eventually the screams gave way to rasping laughter, and the shadow on the wall, still somewhat recognizably a Rabbid (albeit an oddly shaped one like some of the major ones in the Mario + Rabbids games) but with disconnected ears and large, three-digit claws in place of mitten hands.

It was the same silhouette seen in the flashback to Dead-Eye's origin when she mentioned her Benefactor.

I am putting together a fully voice acted audiobook version of Bungo Stray Dogs: Stormbringer, and we need voice actors like you! Prior knowledge of the book not required: I will have typed out scripts for everyone. There are 18 roles available, and we would love to have you! It’s a lighthearted fun fan project with very little stress. Not only do we need voices, but we also are looking for artists! During the runtime of the book, we’ll have art displayed of a relevant scene on youtube, and we will be accepting just about anyone of any skill level!

You mentioned musicians auditions - how would those work? Do we just play a piece that best showcases our abilities? Is that through Casting Call Club as well? Do you have any idea of which instruments you're looking for?

(Sorry for the onslaught of questions lol, I'm excited xD)

There's some asks that have been laying here for a while, so I thought it was time to answer them, and since they're almost all about auditions, I'll do so all together in one post!

Some of these questions will also be answered more thoroughly in a future post as we're planning on more officially re-opening auditions for the roles that we still need :D Apologies for how long it has taken, and thanks for your patience.

For this first one: Information about all of that will be in the post I mentioned, and it's probably better to wait for one of the music captionheads to answer this one, so keep your eyes out :]

The current roles that are open are: Lyric writer, Instrumentalist, Music producer, Singer/voice actor, mixer & masterer, concept artist, storyboarder, and animator. If you aren't interested in any of these, just joining and chatting in the discord, sharing the project to somebody you think would be interested in it, or supporting us on our social medias like you're doing now is more than enough :D

Yes, they are! All auditions are gonna be taken into consideration once we look through them. If you're auditioning through discord or have put your discord username in your audition, you'll know that way. If you're auditioning through Casting Call Club, we will probably reply to your audition and ask for any way to contact you. I believe you also get an email if you get chosen through CCC.

another narrator design of mine

The Narrator or his in-universe name CODE: VANGUARD. this one is i think the newest one out of all my fellas, i pretty like the concept but he makes me aware of my mortality(low skill level) every time i draw him and its making me mad. for this reason i have only managed to make half-decent portraits of him so far and also a half-body but that one's so bad it is only for the eyes of those in the CCC discord server. fun fact: this guy was supposed to have skin and look more or less human, what you see here is the result of damage. he is absolutely not pleased with how he looks now. bonus scribbles:

can you tell i absolutely cannot draw hair. also i wanted to put some au info here but as i went onto yet another tangent on in-universe mechanics i realised that maybe i should prolly take care of that when i have a better clue of what im doing, so. no au info for you today. sorry. dont think anyone would even need it really so not gonna rush myself to finish it

I'll be honest I'm sort of envisioning that damn snail as being connected to whoever it was that sliced Tulip's firewall bullet in half. Our girl's got somebody in the shadows looking out for her, it seems.

(granted I'm not sure how that'd work given from what I just reread of that scene it seemed to be hinted as being Overseer and given his role in the search there's no way he'd be able to access the CCC servers to send the snail. Then again green and black is probably a pretty common program color scheme what with how associated with computer stuff it is in pop culture, and a lot of programs seem to have cloaks for some reason, so it could've been somebody else for all I know)

It actually was meant to be Overseer, but admittedly, I've got no clue how it's meant to be him either. Rereading the piece, I'm pretty sure it's sent before the nabbing, so back when the CCC Avatars were still with Luke, so I think that's how he did it??

I genuinely can't remember, but it can always be changed to someone else if it doesn't fit lol

i had a conversation with marcy i think yesterday or the day before that and of all the rp context and shit i lost when the ccc server got deleted i cannot believe i still have the most important fucking dm ever from it
