“Don’t let go!!”

Twilight felt dizzy as his legs swung in the open air. Beneath him, the massive propeller whirred too loudly for him to hear his own thoughts. Below that was a drop of tens of thousands of feet. 

“Don’t look down!” Champion jerked his grip on Twilight’s collar, forcing his face back up. “And don’t let go!”

Twilight was breathing hard through his open mouth. He was feeling very, very dizzy. The wind was whipping Champion’s hair into his face and Twilight saw the flash of his teeth as he weighed their options. Champion only had one arm to use. He shifted his weight back onto his heels, throwing his all in to helping Twilight pull himself back up onto the deck. 

Together, the two of them heaved until Twilight could bring his chest up and over the edge. He laid it across the deck, Champion continuing to pull him back as he swung one leg up and then the other. Both of them were breathless as Twilight pulled himself back from the brink, rolling onto his back and staring up at the clouds overhead, trying to make sense of everything that had just happened. 

They won.

A tired smile broke across Twilight’s face as the truth sank in. Champion’s hand at the side of his face had him turning, smiling up at his friend—

But Champion had leaned in, quick and impulsive, and suddenly his mouth was over Twilight’s. 

His lips were dry and chapped. The split in his lower lip tasted like blood. The lines in his face were as tense as the press of his lips, and the little furrow of focus between his brows deepened as he pulled back from their kiss much too quickly for Twilight’s liking. 

Champion was panting hard. “Don’t do anything like that ever again.” 

For once, Twilight was the one who couldn��t find his words. 

He nodded.

Have Twi and Champ been with anyone else before they end up together? (we know its coming 😈)

Twilight has not. There was one kiss in college at some frat party that ended up getting a little handsy. It was with a fellow wrestler, someone he'd guiltily eyed in the locker room more than once. But they were both pretty sauced by that point in the evening, and Twilight was very conscious about not over-stepping boundaries, even if his partner would have taken things further. By the next morning, he confirmed that said friend was blackout drunk and didn't remember a thing. Twi had some mixed emotions that weekend about that whole scenario.

Champion has been married to his mission since childhood. Although his eyes and thoughts strayed now and then, he's never been physical with anyone.

Now, Wild, on the other hand...

42 Twilight/Wild or Champion

The last of the Kisses ask game requests...

There was quite a lot that Champion had to feel sorry for. 

There was his coldness toward Flora, unwarranted and undeserved, a facade he had to keep up for the sake of his career. For the sake of the mission. And even when those little cracks in his persona began to show, still he had to keep one of his only true friends at arm’s length. 

There was the loss of Daruk, the Goron Cheiftan’s son, and Champion’s friend. One of the few people who ever looked at Champion and took him at face value, who never thought any less of him for how few words he had to speak. For how little of himself he had to give. Daruk had always been ready with a laugh and with warm encouragement, and Champion would miss that about him forever.

There were Warriors and Sky, whose lives were interrupted, whose careers were put on hold. Sky would have arguably given up his station for the sake of his princess, regardless of Champion’s existence. Warriors, though… He never asked for this. He never did anything but follow his gut, and through it all, despite all he’d lost, he had been right.

And this…

“I’m sorry.” 

Champion curled a little farther over his own lap as the tears began to fall. He knew Twilight saw them. One hand on his forehead could only shield his face so much. But he couldn’t bear to look at him in the eye anymore.

He had always felt like he didn’t quite fit in at the townhouse — a glove worn on the wrong hand, a mismatched pair of socks. Whenever he walked into a room he could see in the others’ eyes how they expected him to be someone else, someone he wasn’t, and in spite of his stoic exterior he could only bear so much. 

Twilight knelt near him by the bedside. On his knees he was just a bit shorter than Champion was sitting. He reached up toward his face, slow and careful, and the kiss of his thumb along Champion’s cheek dried the miserable tears that streaked down his face. 

“It’s okay.” 

Champion could hear the smile in Twilight’s voice. He lifted his eyes, red-rimmed and miserable, to find Wild’s friend — his friend — smiling at him. 

Because even a glove worn on the wrong hand could keep one warm.

Couples cross between HSH canon and LMTCOY in the following. Under the cut for length. Without further ado...

Malon and Time

Malon's a hard-workin' gal who has a business to manage. She also gets a healthy amount of exercise just in her day-to-day work, so by the time the sun is down and she's winding down for the night, she is only one mug of tea away from a solid sleep. When they lived together there were many nights when Time would need to scoop her off of the couch to bring her up to bed. It was always easier than trying to get her to go up on her own; Malon could be rather ornery when he tried to talk her up to bed.

Time is, predictably, our nighttime worrier. No amount of tea or melatonin or stretching or pre-bedtime exercise or even alcohol can get this man to sleep properly. Insomnia is part of his earthly penance, he supposes. So he's commonly awake at night either quietly watching over his bed-partner or lying with his eye closed trying not to count each second as it passes.

Warriors and Time

Warriors has some serious beauty rest that he needs to attend to on a nightly basis. He has a whole routine most nights between topical skincare, supplements for hair skin and nails, an eye mask if he's feeling a little puffy, and so on. When he's spending his nights alone on the second floor, he usually spends a solid 20-25 minutes on that routine and then lies down on his satin pillowcases and, sometimes, just stares at the ceiling for hours. There's a lot of things to contemplate in the quiet of nighttime in the townhouse, unfortunately, especially for our Guard drop-out from a decorated military family.

On those nights that he spends on the third floor, Warriors purposely wears himself out so he can sleep soundly.

Wild and Time

Wild has done nothing wrong, ever, in his life. Even after healing from the events of HSH1, he's never been affected very much by night terrors and the like. He likes to sleep sprawled out on top of a lover, and Time makes a fabulous hot rock for this chilly little lizard. He's infamous for falling asleep during movie time, too, unless he's snacking at the same time.

Twilight and Wild

Unfortunately, the older Twilight gets, the more likely he is to lie awake at night fretting. The poor kid has a lot to worry about, though: the intense disapproval of his parents for the lifestyle he leads, fears of the dangers of living in Time's house, friend drama, and the like. At least when Wild is sleeping on top of him, it's a bit like a security blanket that helps lull him to sleep. Twilight does, unfortunately, snore.

Twilight and Champion

Anon nailed it. These two both lie awake for hours and hours, staring at the ceiling in tense silence. As they become more and more comfortable with one another, though, you'll start seeing those great late-night questions. "What do you think the meaning of life is?" "If you could do your childhood over, what's the one thing you'd change?"

Twilight and Dark

Dark will, on occasion, suffer from insomnia. And when he does, he gets really shitty about it. He'll stay up indulging in any vice he can until it wears himself out enough to get back to sleep. When he has a bed partner, though, Dark is usually out within 15-20 minutes. Having company makes him feel safe enough to sleep soundly. He doesn't snore, but Dark is definitely a drool-er.

Legend and Hyrule

Day in and day out, Hyrule sees the horrors of mankind play out in the theatre of the hospital. He has his nose to the grindstone so fucking hard that by the time he gets home in the evenings, the moment he's horizontal he's going to pass OUT. He's tied with Sky now for the Most Naps in Inopportune Places in the Townhouse after taking a snooze at the kitchen table once. It isn't unheard of for him or Sky to climb into the chaise lounge with one another, in fact, because naps are always better with company.

Legend, on the other hand, tends to lie awake and contemplate the mysteries of the universe. One of his favorite late night self-flagellation activities in fact is to lie awake and scrape at his memory for details about Koholint, or about his childhood. So many memories have been damaged by trauma shut-down and by a briefly self-destructive lifestyle that he has to work hard to recall things about himself.

Sky and Sun

Sky is, as mentioned, a champion napper. ESPECIALLY with company. However, some of that comes from an inability to achieve a good night's sleep, believe it or not. Sky is plagued by night terrors that, on occasion, will prevent him from getting any sleep at all. Visions of his past in the Guard, the things he himself has done, and nightmares about demons rising from fissures in the earth have haunted him for a long time now. That's why he always seems tired; he needs to make up for that beauty rest when and where he can during the day.

Sun can sleep soundly, with or without company. She's used to having a massive king-sized bed all to herself, so even in Sky's company she tends to starfish across the bed at a certain point in the night. Not the most comfortable for her bed-partner, not that Sun is awake enough to realize it. She's also not necessarily a morning person, although she has to be up with the sun each day to complete her devotions.

Four and Shadow

Of the dynamic duo, Four is generally an insomniac whose brain runs miles per minute -- all up until he has Shadow's company in bed. Sleeping with someone else brings Four comfort, not that he'd ever admit that aloud. It's nice to know that someone has his back, alright?? Four prefers to sleep between his bed partner and the wall, burrito'd up as firmly as he can get with his face tucked against their arm so he knows that they're there.

Shadow might talk a big game, but he definitely experiences The Horrors behind his eyelids at night. He'll commit to two, maybe three hours of sleep before That's It. He'll lie awake all night scrolling mindlessly through his phone, bookmarking stupid things to share with Four as soon as he wakes up. When they're not sharing a bed, he'll send them via messenger all night long. Hence Four has to keep his phone on silent. If Four doesn't wake up to more than 25 messages, he's usually calling Shadow to see what's up.

What about Wind?

Wind is one of those who will walk away from his computer only when he cannot physically keep his eyes open any longer. So yes, when he hits the bed he's typically out in like 3 minutes. He sleeps on top of the covers or without covers with his hoodie pulled up over his head, usually face-down with his arms stretched out on either side of him. That boy loves his space.

Turning this into a “rank the boys” today because How True. Where do you think your fav couples fall?

Free Day (Bedding)

“These aren’t your usual sheets.”

Twilight tried to toss the half the fitted sheet to the side of the bed Champion stood at, but failed miserably. “Weather changes, and so does the type of sheet I guess.” 

The former Royal Guard grabbed his side of the fitted sheet and got to work getting it on Twilight's mattress. The man was quite good at making beds; did the military corners and everything.

Champion ran his hand along the edge of the fitted sheet after tucking the corner under the mattress. “What is this material?”

“It’s bamboo,” Twi said as he finished the last corner of the fitted sheet. “To me it feels kinda soft and fleecy without being super thick and too warm.” 

“Huh,” was all he said as he ran his fingers across the fabric one more time. Twilight flung out the top sheet (like a pro) once it was in the appropriate place, let Champion tuck the edges in. He’d tried to imitate Champion’s corners before only for Champion to just do them over again, so now he just let the man do what he would with the sheet.

Once the bed was fully made, Twi took Champion’s hand and led him downstairs.

Time for some lunch.

Twilight had long since gotten accustomed to coming home to a quiet house since taking the job at Telma’s, and while he previously looked forward to crawling into bed, now he most looked forward to laying awake for another hour to talk (and maybe kiss) with Champion. 

He stopped at the kitchen for a glass of water before heading upstairs. Reaching the second floor landing, there wasn’t any light coming through the bottom of Champion’s door, which usually meant he was waiting in Twi’s room. More often than not he’d find him reading on top of Twilight’s covers, wrapped in an afghan Malon had given him.

Twilight took careful, even steps to his door and gently pushed it open. He nearly dropped the glass at the sight before him.

Champion was curled up beneath the blankets, tucked up over his chin, sound asleep.

Twilight’s heart just melted.

Moving as quietly as he could, Twilight got into his sleep clothes and made his way over to the bed. He got under the covers carefully so as to not disturb his partner before leaning over and pressing a kiss to his forehead.

Champion cracked an eye open before groaning. “Meant t’be awake.”

“Are you testing out my sheets?” Twilight asked as he brushed a strand of hair behind Champion’s ear.

“Wann’ed t’try ‘em,”the former guard murmured. “S’soft.”

Twilight chuckled. “I guess I know what I’m getting you for Solstice.”

“These’re fine,” Champion yawned. “You come with ‘em.”

who is your personal favorite pairing/couple out of all of st0rmyverse fics or do you have a ranking of favorites

My favorite pairing really depends on the day, honestly. I go to one or another when I'm really craving writing love and sex from a certain angle.

In LMTCOY/HSH...

WarrTime is my favorite toxic relationship turning legit. In the beginning they were using one another as a self-flagellation of sorts. Now, they've seen exactly what's wrong with the other and, shockingly, both of them have independently decided "I can fix him." The more I explore their relationship in (unpublished) work, they've become more of a stable, mature same-sex relationship, although the sex is still incendiary.

WildTime is always my go-to for "I want to rot my teeth out with fluff." Every time they have sex is like the first time, and Wild keeps Time undeniably young.

Twark is my "baby gay with infallible support from an unlikely source" pairing. Twi is curious and exploratory and is going to make some mistakes, and Dark is both going to enable him and going to be there to help catch him when he stumbles. I also just reaaaally really love writing Dark, no matter the AU.

Legend/Hyrule is good for exploring the comfort of commitment to another person, especially when it comes to exploring new and/or unlikely kinks.

Four/Shadow are honestly a pairing that is quietly dear to my heart. Shadow knows more about Four's past than anyone else, and he is a supportive rock who keeps Four's needs and boundaries at the forefront of their relationship. It might not seem like Shadow gets a lot back in return for this at first glance but, well, love is patient.

Champlight, once I really get going writing them, also goes through a sweet arc of mutual pining and questioning and considering one another from across a room crowded with friends and loved ones who are just like "Get ON WITH IT already!!!"

In the omegaverse series...

I literally cannot get enough of Sky/Time. I CANNOT. Sky is going through a period of intense rehabilitation and healing and learning to trust again, and who better than Time to gently guide him through it? Similarly...

Sky and Wild are such opposites in this AU that, naturally, they're going to attract. Wild might seem promiscuous and carefree, but his feelings toward Sky are stronger than he lets on. We'll see more of this in later chapters and stories.

And in this AU, Warrlight + Wild is probably my #1 for pairings where shit's about to get INTERESTING. And not only because Warriors and Twilight are about to turn hard and fast the wrong way down a one-way street.

And, of course, the poly boys Sky, Twi, and Warriors (+ Sun) are the best for gentle exploration and unconditional love. Their relationship, at its core, is so innocent and wholehearted that it's hard not to adore them. They're another one I turn to for tooth-rotting fluff.
