You know, I don't have a problem with Gi-hun sacrificing himself. I think it's pretty in character for him to do that after everything he went through. I also understand that in its own way, sacrifice is an act of rebellion, a fuck you to a system that continued to exploit and beat him down at every chance. I even firmly believe that him choosing a baby, an innocent life, over himself, especially with him being weighed down by all the guilt and regrets, was the ending that made the most sense.
So, no, I'm not one of those people who would say the act itself was out of character or that Gi-hun should have survived no matter what. I think his ending is pretty in line with what we've seen from him through the seasons. It is a culmination of all of his growth and I do think it was, at least on some level, a truly beautiful scene. Although, to be fair, most of the praise should go to the actor who truly can convey so much emotion with a simple look, no words necessary.
What is my issue then? Well, above anything else, what I find jarring and kinda unbelievable about the ending is how he doesn't actually know if he's ensuring the baby's safety.
It just doesn't feel like the same guy who went out of his way to find Sae-byeok's family or ensure that Sang-woo's mother's is taken care of. He knows what the games do to people, he knows how they exploit and exploit until you have nothing left to give. He has no guarantee that this child won't be groomed to continue the games. He has no way to ensure his promise is actually fulfilled.
I won't go as far as to say that it's a shit ending, mostly because I'm still processing and still need to settle on on what I actually think about it. But even though I can absolutely stan Gi-hun for taking a stand, for going out on his own terms, the way it was portrayed feels more defeatist than anything else. And I honestly don't think it was meant to be interpreted that way considering that they still kept this theme of hope prevailing in small ways with some of the surviving characters. Regardless of what they intended, though, this IS how this ending comes off in a lot of ways and I don't think it's unwarranted.
And it shows in how people are reacting, especially since it's A LOT to ask the audience to care more for a random baby than for characters we spent seasons establishing and getting invested in. I think the baby's inclusion in the story, while on paper interesting and in line with the symbolism of the series and fundamental questions this show asks, was... well, maybe not a mistake per se, but definitely a Choice. Not necessarily a good one. Especially since we know that the baby won't die. So at some point, the question became less about who will win the game and more about whether it'll be the sole survivor or not.
I think what frustrates many people the most, though, is that Gi-hin didn't have to die. I think more people would be open for this ending if they showed it as a situation with no solution, no hope. Him or the baby, no loopholes, no other options. But since there was still clause 3 and babies can't exactly vote, the game could have ended right there. The ending doesn't really give us a good reason as to why Gi-hun didn't opt for the option that would allow him to truly fulfill the promise and take care of Jun-hee's baby, give it a better chance at life. Which feels like a strange cop out considering that him doing that IS actually perfectly in line with the message of the show and, even more importantly, with Gi-hun's stance. This is precisely what he did at the end of season 1, choosing to believe and also prove through his own actions, that as long as you're alive, you can still make better choices. You can believe in humanity, even if it seems hopeless at times. Many people won't choose that option. Many will turn a blind eye to all the suffering and will even contribute to it if it means getting ahead.
I don't know, maybe I'm too much of an idealist, maybe I let myself believe in Gi-hun too much, but I think that that message and that Gi-hun, the one who chose to believe even when things sucked and people disappointed him, felt much more authentic to the story's overall message.
Him choosing death when there were still options feels defeatist.
It feels like him acting against the very thing he wanted to prove.
And it would be one thing if the whole message was supposed to be about the games beating this hope and conviction out of him.
It would be one thing if it was truly the only way to ensure the baby's safety and finish that game.
But it wasn't.
And honestly? That feels very inconsistent with the show I watched.

This Sony Animations film is a diamond in the rough for its interesting premise, captivating music, and super fun characters. It's a great movie if you want a taste of KPOP culture or haven't gotten sucked into the vortex that is KPOP.
The movie follows the latest line of three woman named Huntr/x as a KPOP girl group using their music to form the mystical Honmoon and protect humanity from demons. Now they must take on rival boy band Saja Boys while fighting more and more demons under the command of the demon king Gwi-Ma. Now let's get into this new movie for a fun rollercoaster adventure.
Who are Huntr/x?

Huntr/x consists of three different but talented Korean women: lead singer Rumi, voiced by Arden Cho, dancer Mira, voiced by May Hong, and rapper Zoey, voiced by Ji-young Yoo. Each character has a distinct trait that makes them stand out yet blend perfectly together.
I love that these characters are allowed to be real and flawed. They do a lot of anime-type goofy comedy that make them more relatable, thus much more interesting to watch. Huntr/x definitely don't have everything together, they're not flawless, unstoppable women. Instead, they're regular people with shame and fears who happen to be famous KPOP stars/demon hunters. But still people.
Don't get me wrong, writing female characters as strong isn't bad. I wish there were more. But there's this tendency to make them Mary Sues who don't make mistakes or are flawlessly powerful without real effort. Like it's more about the message than the person. The main characters have the freedom to be real characters without the baggage of having too much to say.
Jinu and the Saja Boys

Jinu and the Saja Boys are the main antagonists of the movie along side the demon king Gwi-Ma. They become a boy band to take away fans from Huntr/x and weaken the Honmoon. They're the typical KPOP boy band that blew up into popularity out of nowhere much like in real life. The only fleshed out member is Jinu while the others are more stand-in characters with no character moments.
Jinu is a 400-year old demon who took a deal from Gwi-Ma to raise him out of poverty but abandoning his family. He wants to get rid of his shame by forgetting and being free. Upon meeting Rumi, Kinu begins a slow but strong connection to her as they discuss their shame and self-loating. This connection leads him to sacrifice himself for Rumi and help her defeat Gwi-Ma.
Honestly, Jinu is more or less a typical male romanic interest for Rumi. But he does give Rumi the push to understand the humanity behind his demonic self and making peace with her own demons.

The struggles with shame and self-loathing play a major role in the film. The main characters have their own insecurities, flaws, and sins. Rumi's demonic patterns, Jinu's choice to abandon his family, Mira as a problem child, and Zoey's sense of identity. The way Gwi-Ma uses these feelings as a method of control makes him very dangerous to people at their most vulnerable. Making them believe he's the only hope they have left and being willing to hold onto that no matter the consequences.
Rumi's struggles with hiding her demonic heritage and finding connections with Jinu can be interpreted as people struggling with a lot of things. Mental health, sexuality, gender identity, and so on. Rumi's confrontation with Selene feels heartbreakingly real in how loved ones try to change something about their significant others that don't fit into their beliefs despite how they would "love" them. It is only after when being seen at her most vulnerable and lowest is that she can finally be free to truly express herself and find true connection with her friends.
Music and Animation
The strongest element in the movie is the music. But combining it with the Spiderverse-inspired animation makes it a spectacle to watch in full. All of the music so good, but my favorite songs are "How it's Done" and "Your Idol."

The opening fight/musical scene surrounding "How It's Done" perfectly captures Huntr/x in their element of fighting demons and performing on stage. High energy and powerful while showcasing the main characters.

"Your Idol" is the best villain song I've heard in a while. The Saja Boys' demonic appearances and usage of sinister colors make it look like a music video straight out of hell. It perfectly captures the intent of taking people's souls with evil glee and swagger.
When you really get into this movie, you begin to see connections that seem totally random but so obvious at the start when you really think about it.
My Little Pony Connections

Okay, it's not the first movie to have a musical finale/showdown, but it's hard to ignore the similarities with one particular movie. My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks is the closest to the movie. They both have protagonists with music-based magical powers that fight a rival band as the main villains while overcoming personal issues in which the characters grow stronger.
Why Watch it?

The movie doesn't just appeal to KPOP fans, but also those who ever felt ashamed about things in their lives they can't control and learning to move forward without forgetting it or finding quick fixes. The music, animation, and characters are great without feeling superficial or those projects just done for a "cash grab." If anything, this may open a whole new door for people who've never heard of KPOP to get on the bandwagon. Hopefully, we get some news on a sequel that brings it harder. Or not. I think fantastic without the unnecessary sequels or spinoffs.

After noticing patterns over the years, I created this list with 13 points to score the level of stereotypes about sharks present in a work. I believe that most of these stereotypes have their main origin in the film Jaws (1975).
With the scarcity of works that explore other creative approaches to sharks, beyond the “man-eating ” narrative, Jaws ended up consolidating itself as the greatest source of inspiration and creative reference for many productions to this day. This was called “The Jaws Effect”. 🩸🦈
I've noticed that certain patterns in the creative world repeat themselves to the point of being tedious, which bothers me. Not because they're bad, but because in many cases they're harmful. With these points, I hope to show sharks in a new light.

🩸1 - Great White Shark Popularized by the Jaws movie, the Great white shark has become the dominant archetype in the representation of sharks in fiction. Often, works choose to use this shark or a generic gray version of imprecise anatomy, with no defined species. However, there are over 400 species of shark, and very few are explored creatively.

🩸2 - Man-eater The persistent idea that sharks have humans as a natural part of their diet is one of the most widespread stereotypes. Although there are reports of incidents, most attacks are isolated and often by mistake. Any animal, including humans, could turn to unexpected sources of food in a situation of desperation or starvation.

🩸3 - Forced Behavior It's common to see sharks portrayed with distorted or exaggerated behaviors that don't match their nature just to cause tension, such as:
Hunting small fish, ignoring the fact that sharks avoid expending energy on low-energy prey.
Abandoning easy prey just to arbitrarily chase the protagonist.
Going crazy at the smell of blood.
Showing a wild and constant hunger.
Obsessively pursuing a single prey.
Making aggressive shark species known for being peaceful or timid.
Attacking and destroying objects, structures or vessels with disproportionate fury just to reach someone.

🩸4 - Monstrous appearance It's common to see sharks' appearance exaggerated to intensify visual fear, making them look like monsters rather than real animals:
A gaping mouth, with huge, crooked teeth that are constantly stained with blood.
Menacing, demonic red, black empty and soulless eyes.
Body covered in grotesque scars, exposed wounds and even weapons embedded in the skin.
A disproportionate figure, with pointed shapes, a swollen or deformed body.
Bizarre mutations that completely alter their anatomy.
Technological modifications to make them more weapon-like, emphasizing the idea of the "Killing Machine".

🩸5 - Shark de-characterization Especially in children's works, in order to be accepted by the public or the other characters in the plot, the shark is often forced to change its identity. It is transformed into a “domesticated” version, such as:
Becoming a vegetarian or a toothless shark, losing its ecological role as a predator.
Taking on exaggeratedly “funny” behavior, becoming a caricature.
Having its behavior and appearance altered to look more like a dolphin or other friendly shape, excluding striking features such as prominent fins, visible gills or a fusiform snout.
Choose to portray a specific species of shark because it seems more “friendly” to the public, such as the whale shark.

🩸6 - Limited Nature The representation of sharks in fiction is usually limited to sensationalist aspects, such as the power of their bite, the old phrase that they "smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water", or things like "killers from the womb".
However, sharks have some very interesting characteristics that are little explored creatively:
Acute hearing, capable of picking up sounds more than a kilometer away in the ocean.
Their electroreception, which allows them to perceive tiny electrical impulses emitted by living prey and even sense the electromagnetic field around them.
Possible link between their migrations and the lunar phases.
Incredible healing capacity and immune resistance.
Skin made up of denticles made of the same material as our teeth.
They constantly change their teeth.
Longevity and they never stop growing.
Many fish such as rémoras and pilot fish depend on and live alongside sharks.
Sensitive to pressure changes and can even predict hurricanes and tropical storms.

🩸7 - Red Presence Striking presence of red, either with the presence of blood or the color present in the design. This emphasis on red reinforces the shark's direct association with violence, danger and death, contributing to the construction of the “bloodthirsty monster” stereotype.

🩸8 - Dark Music It is common for sharks to be associated with tense, dark and threatening soundtracks whenever they appear on the scene. More often than not, I notice that when sharks are mentioned in song lyrics, it is to express some sort of comparison to some negative stereotype.

🩸9 - Threatening setting Scenarios with sharks are almost always represented in a gloomy, dark, desaturated way, empty of marine life. The environment is treated as a dangerous place by nature, shipwrecks, dark caves, areas full of garbage, explosive mines or the inhospitable depths of the sea

🩸10 - Masculinization The theme involving sharks has always been very masculine. Shark characters are rarely female, while the human characters who interact with these animals, scientists, hunters, divers or specialists, are almost always white men. Women and minorities almost never occupy central or specialized roles in these narratives.

🩸11 - Villainization Sharks are often portrayed as villains by default, carrying negative and caricatured stereotypes, for example:
Gangster or mobster
Aggressor or school bully
Criminal or loan shark
Brutish idiot or dumb henchman

Recurring enemy, obstacle or final boss in video games

🩸12 - Objectification Sharks are often treated as mere resources or utilitarian objects in fiction. They are represented as trophies, rewards, collectibles or consumables, as if they existed only to be hunted, exhibited or eaten.
This objectification also appears in the constant presence of jaws decorating environments, teeth used as accessories, fins amputated as an ingredient, and in the display of the animal's body in a morbid way: corpses exposed, dead body hung and displayed as a trophy in harbor, parts dissected or being devoured by other creatures.

🩸13 - Death As if it weren't enough to have become a symbol of death incarnate, even in animations aimed at children, sharks almost always have the same fate: death. What's worse, their death is usually celebrated as a relief or a victory.
Impaled, butchered, set on fire, crushed, blown up, fished out or killed by another "heroic" creature, tossed about by hurricanes… In many cases, these scenes are treated with humor or graphic exaggeration, turning the destruction of the shark into a spectacle.

I was unsure about publishing this list as it is just personal observations from someone who loves sharks. A few people asked me for this list and said it would be worth posting, don't take it too seriously.
These stereotypes are not necessarily bad or invalid, after all, we are talking about works of fantasy and fiction. However, they could be resignified through new creative ideas that arouse feelings other than fear and terror.
Although many people's passion for sharks arose precisely from movies like Jaws and the stereotypes it popularized, it's important to remember that these same elements have been repeated almost unchanged for decades. This exhaustive repetition was largely because it was profitable, turning sharks into yet another victim of entertainment capitalism. Over time, this type of representation ended up distancing ordinary people from the reality of these animals, reinforcing fear rather than curiosity. Nowadays things are a little better, but not better enough.
The reality of sharks goes far beyond that. They are mysterious and fascinating animals, older than the first trees or dinosaurs. They have survived five mass extinctions, incredibly adapted from the abyssal depths to mangroves and freshwater rivers. They have unique senses and behaviors that are still shrouded in mystery, as well as a biology so singular that it inspires advances in science and technology. For many ancient cultures, sharks are revered as true gods of ocean balance.
I dare say that by looking after the health of the seas for millions of years, sharks made it possible for our own species to emerge from the depths of the primordial ocean. They are, in a way, guardians of our cradle of origin. And so we owe them a great deal of respect and preserve them at all costs.
To date, no creative work has managed to surpass “Jaws”. Who will be creative enough to create a new work and transform the collective imaginary of sharks from fear to fascination? 🦈✨

About his name: He can be called as either Blueberry Milk Cookie, Blue Moon Cookie, Blueberry Yogurt Cookie, and etc tho its safe to call him Sage of Truth. At that time his soul jam is similar to Pure Vanilla for a good solid reason, it was the first original soul jam but I do want to add a tiny head-canon that there should be a “closed eye” to his soul jam but the canon was just like Pure Vanilla’s. Just like what happens at the Blueberry Yogurt Academy before it was abandoned, it was ONCE his second history wanting to teach the cookies more knowledge while his first being crated. Plus meeting Y/N Cookie allowed him to experience what falling in love feels like.
About Y/N Cookie: They made their own appearance as a mortal cookie but had an incurable illness that the witches made a mistake, but what if it wasn’t and it was part of their experiment? Although it was very cruel Y/N Cookie was one of the cookies who suggested Sage of Truth to create that said academy to not find a way to get the cure but also to create memories that can last through time. But they knew their time is up and yet they wanted to live more just to see him one more time, after all they love him.
About the Incurable Illness: Its hard to find a better title for the name so lets call it “Incomplete Dough Illness” its just similar to humans who had disabilities that won’t let them survive much longer, however even tho it’s incurable it’s incurable since it was THE PAST before modern technology was introduced to the new generation of cookies, wether or not it can be cured it can never be cured despite everything.
The life longer spell: A spell casted by the Sage of Truth before he had become Shadow Milk Cookie, it extended a cookies lifespan thus converting them to become almost immortal, the word almost is that a Crescent Moon needs to be presented in order for that spell to perform well. The consequences is becoming corrupted and if that caster perishes that person perishes with them. If that person is also sealed they are comatose until the seal is broken and if that unconscious person is touched or worse that unfortunately cookie will live the most unluckiest and cursed life till they perish.

What happens to them: Shadow Milk Cookie took Y/N Cookie with him to a more safer place. Of course that would make the other cookies worry but Pure Vanilla told them that they will be find, after all Y/N Cookie is the ONLY COOKIE Shadow Milk Cookie recognize despite them being new in a newer world that cannot go back. Of course this time Shadow Milk Cookie CANNOT afford to let go of Y/N Cookie, they are immortally connected with him but they are still weak so they need good care by Shadow Milk Cookie himself (it has become a connected soulmates). If that makes you happy you can see Y/N Cookie still being sweet to him despite everything, sure it takes alot of time for them to understand but you should know that they are an understanding and wise cookie.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard info compilation Post 1
Post is under a cut due to length.
There is a lot of information coming out right now about DA:TV from many different sources. This post is just an effort to compile as much as I can in one place, in case that helps anyone. Sources for where the information came from have been included. Where I am linking to a social media user's post, the person is either a dev, a Dragon Age community council member or other person who has had a sneak peek at and played the game. nb, this post is more of a 'info that came out in snippets from articles and social media posts' collection rather than a 'regurgitating the information on the official website or writing out what happened in the trailer/gameplay reveal' post. The post is broken down into headings on various topics. A few points are repeated under multiple headings where relevant. Where I am speculating without a source, I have clearly demarcated this. if you notice any mistakes in this post, please tell me.

Character Creation

We will enter CC straight after Varric's opening narration [source]
You are given 5 categories to work your way through in CC: Lineage, Appearance, Class, Faction, Playstyle. Each of these has a range of subcategories within them. There are 8 subcategories within the "head" subcategory" in "Appearance" alone [source]
Lineage dictates things like race (i.e. human, elf, dwarf, qunari) and backstory [source]
Backstories include things like factions. Factions offer 3 distinct buffs each [source]

The prologue is quite lengthy. A narrated intro from Varric lays the groundwork with some lore and explains about Solas [source]. In this Varric-narrated opening section, the dwarf recaps the events of previous games and explains the motivations of Solas [source] (Fel note/speculation: this sounds like this cinematic that we saw on DA Day 2023)
What happens first off is that Rook, who is working with Varric, is interrogating a bartender about the whereabouts of a contact in Minrathous who can help them stop Solas. The bartender does not play nice and we are presented with our first choice: talk the bartender down or intimidate them aggressively [source]
The first hour of the game is "a luxurious nighttime romp through a crumbling city under a mix of twinkling starlight and lavish midnight blue" (Minrathous) [source]. The game begins with a tavern brawl (depending on dialogue options) and a stroll through Minrathous in search of Neve Gallus, who has a lead on Solas [source]. Minrathous then comes under attack [source] by demons [source] (Fel note/speculation: it sounds like the demo the press played is what we saw in the Gameplay Reveal). Off in the distance is a vibrant, colorful storm where Solas is performing his ritual. [source] Eventually we come upon Harding. [source] and Neve. Rook and co enter a crumbling castle, where ancient elf secrets pop up, "seemingly just for the lore nerds". [source] Then we teleport to Arlathan Forest, have a mini boss fight with a Pride Demon, and there is the climactic confrontation with Solas. The action in the story's opening parts starts off quite quick from the sounds of things: the devs wanted to get the player right in to the story. because, “Especially with an RPG where they can be quite lore-heavy, a lot of exposition at the front and remembering proper nouns, it can be very overwhelming.” [source]
BioWare wanted to make the beginning of Dragon Age: The Veilguard feel like the finale of one of their other games [source]
Rook's Faction will be referenced in dialogue [source]
Minrathous is beautiful, with giant statues, floating palaces, orange lantern glow and magical runes which glow green neon. These act "like electricity" as occasional signs above pubs and stores [source]
The story has a lot of darkness tonally. These dark parts of the game contain the biggest spoilers [source]. However, the team really wanted to build in contrast between the dark and light moments in the game, as if everything is dark, nothing really feels dark [source]
Our hub (like the Normandy in ME or Skyhold in DA:I) is a place called The Lighthouse [source] (Fel note/speculation: I guess this screenshot shows the crew in The Lighthouse? ^^)
Each companion has a very complex backstory, their own problems, and deep motivations. These play out through well-fleshed out character arcs and missions that are unique to them but which are ultimately tied into the larger story [source]

Duelist gameplay involves a sharp combination of dashes, parries, leaps, rapid slashes and combos [source]

Playstyle settings include custom, distinct difficulty settings for options as granular as parry windows, meaning "players who might fancy that playstyle but typically struggle with the finer points of combat can give it a go" [source]
Combat mechanics is a mix of real-time action and pause and play. Pausing brings up a radial menu split into 3 sections: companions to the left and right, Rook's skills at the bottom, and a targeting system at the top which helps get in focus on certain enemies. Tapping or holding the shoulder button pauses the game, allowing us to stop the action and issue orders to companions [source]

Abilities can change together with elaborate results, e.g. one companion using a gravity well attack that sucked enemies together, another using a slowing move to keep them in place, and Rook using a big AOE to catch them all at once [source]

Asriel could easily be like the god of familial love, of hopes and dreams, partnerships (friendships, companionship, puppy love if you must) and children/youth and then when he's flowey he could be the god of betrayal and spite, ala nemesis and eris. Still rooted in the ideas of love but twisted into what happens when love turns sour. Still a god of youth but also a god of lost time. Actually making him a minor god of time would also really work to tie into his character. Him being Pandora and the box at the same time would be interesting.

first off, unrelated tangent, i think they did chara pretty decently? like, they used to be kind, but they were betrayed by monsterkind, etc etc. i like that, it honestly brings up what i think is a tragically unexplored part of their character. they hate monsterkind in some way for being so nice, and i think that’s why we can drive them to support genocide so quickly. i do think they shouldn’t have been evil right off the bat, of course, but hey! they’re a mythological figure. that stuff happens a lot in mythology, and more importantly it works in tangent to undertale.
flowey, though. god. amnesia does not suit him. they stripped him of character and expected him to still be flowey. it’s illogical. really reflects the early fandom’s perception of flowey and asriel as entirely different people. like being a flower makes you want to kill people or something. smh.
sorry i turned the topic to flowey but like. does he have to be the embodiment of despair. him being obsessed with chara is in-character i guess but he does it in such an out-of-character way. honestly that’s a big problem with every au! they make him a sweet little guy without actually addressing the roots of his canon problems. i mean, that or they make him the living embodiment of evil. they gave him the chara treatment, seriously.
he has so many layers though. it’s hard to fit him into one category. personally i’d make him some kind of pandora’s box thing. like an embodiment of the world’s pestilences where he used to be a closed box. helps highlight that he didn’t change, the box was always there, dying just opened it.
that might not make any sense. but man i’m tired of people making flowey chara’s lapdog. when in genocide he clearly sees himself as a partner in crime, at least until the end. (and then he defies them and ruins the whole killing humanity thing. so.) and don’t even get me started on pacifist. he tries to kill you repeatedly because he thinks you’re chara.
flowey is driven by (platonic!!) love. but it’s not the soft love you see on greeting cards or tv. it’s angry love. aggressive love. he’d do anything for the person he loves. even kill them.
honestly, maybe flowey would work better as a god of love. (yes i headcanon him as aroace but still.) “asriel” is soft, caring love. hugs and kisses and warm blankets and all that. “flowey” is the kind of love that slaps you in the face to get you up in the morning. he’s possessive, angry, passionate.

Your research is going well. Your reports to the Fontaine Science Institute were successful during your last expedition, earning you praise from your superiors. You have been living in Liyue for over six months. After learning about minerals that can emanate energy, you sought out information to educate yourself on the subject. 
The rocks in Liyue seem to have a memory, possibly due to the work of their Archon or as a natural result of high evolution and energetic vestiges from ancient wars. 
Zhongli, the Parlor consultant, had told you about a spot at the foot of a valley that might interest you, and you were amazed. You had no reason to doubt the man's wisdom. You had formed a deep bond of friendship with him because you admire his extensive knowledge about everything. You set off almost immediately. He had offered to accompany you, but you had refused because you prefer to do your research alone, surrounded by nature and away from the attractive distraction that Zhongli could become.
Your friend is attractive, in a way that you tried to express in your letters to your friends at Fontaine, but never succeeded. Your banal words and names do not do justice to the physique of this man of unshakable character, steely sense, and tenacious gaze. You could not bear to make a mistake in his presence during the expedition, not because you were clumsy, but because his figure moved your senses, your ground, and betrayed your own perceptions.
So, as you walk through a pleasant area of foliage, covered by the fierce, scorching rays of the sun, you decide to let your guard down, to take off your jacket and your gloves. You use a ribbon to tie up your hair as you walk on, arriving at the place Zhongli had shown you beforehand. The passage is strangely comfortable, very suitable for a quiet investigation, full of strange figures of small rocks of irregular and curious shapes.
Under the canopy of large trees, you spread out your arsenal of tools on the grass, put on your protective visors, and get to work. Sequencing the rock profile takes little time, your agile skills allowing you to avoid unnecessary pauses or clumsy backtracking typical of an amateur. Then you take the samples, tiny particles that do not alter the correct and productive nature that King Geo has protected for years, and while you wait for the filtering to finish, a strange sensation runs down your spine.
You had let your guard down during your experiment, letting the peaceful appearance of the place convince you, something very unprofessional on your part. So you turn to the side and feel a presence. Among the bushes, you spot a pair of curious little spheres, and you jump as the leaves rustle in the presence of an unknown being. 
A deep relief washes over you as the creature in question appears on the scene. A small dragon, microscopic in physiognomy compared to adult forms, with curious eyes and a golden tail twisted into a spiral. Its little paws make furrows in the ground, its face dejected, as if it had been caught doing something illegal.
"Little one, have you been watching me all this time?" You ask the cute little creature, who hides his head between his front paws, realizing he can't do it with his tail, which isn't long enough.

The dragon gathers itself in its own anatomy, growling low, sounding almost like a common cat, you can't help but laugh at it. You bring your fingers up to the growling pellet and stroke its head, right between its underdeveloped horns. You notice a puff of breath coming from the little guy's nose.
"How cute, you liked that, didn't you?" you laugh as you stroke his head and then his back, causing the miniature dragon's tail to wag.
"Come, sit with me, we'll have to wait a long time until the filtering is finished," you take him in your hands, on your palms.
"Wow... I've never seen one of your species so small... and those scales," you comment, bringing your face close to the reptile's, "I'd swear you have very, very soft skin, you're very rare, uh," you add, while you turn to your tools, which emit a strange smell.
You leave the dragon on the ground and approach your machinery, no, nothing out of place... well, now you can turn your attention to the little guy who... what is he doing?
You notice the tiny creature rubbing against your foot, making strange squeaks. It's... it's mating with your shoe? You burst out laughing and shake your foot, pushing it away and picking it up again.
"You horny little bugger," you say, poking him in the nose, "I forgot that your species is in mating season. I regret to inform you that you will get nowhere with me, I am not of the same species... ours is impossible."

Thinking about Murderbot again (as one does) and like. We're introduced to SecUnits, to bots at all, through Murderbot's lens, so we assume that they're all anti-social, kind of misanthropic, and can't trust each other because of the governor module - because that's what Murderbot believes and has lived experience to show us, the audience, to prove it.
But if you think about it!
We start to meet other bots - ART, Miki, even Three eventually, and they're... not like that? ART is friendly with its crew and not worried about Murderbot at all (probably because it could crush it like a bug, but you know), Miki is openly friendly to everyone, Three mentions having friendly connections with other bots, there's even mention that the station bots share gossip and news with each other and SecUnits... so it's actually just Murderbot, maybe.
But if you think about it, it makes sense.
Most bots are unlikely to be pitted against each other. Sure, SecUnits are forced to fight sometimes, but they can't threaten a client and probably aren't allowed to kill each other because that's expensive. Sure, hostile takeovers can happen, but again, they're expensive and difficult and don't seem to profit anyone, so most wouldn't try it. What happened to Murderbot specifically was a mistake on the attacker's part, after all.
So most bots would have the perspective that yes, sure, they're all slaves in a shitty system where random humans can make them hurt each other, but really, most humans don't bother and most bots don't get enough direct human attention that they really have to worry about it. Sure, they could be played against each other, but it's probably pretty safe for a shipping bot to gossip and make friends with the folks coming through - who's going to order a SecUnit to act against a shipping bot, really? Who's going to pay enough attention to care? They're bots.
But for Murderbot, being ordered against its fellow bots - and its own clients! - isn't just a remote nightmare possibility, it's a REALITY. That HAPPENED to it! So of course it can't trust itself - can't trust another bot - when it knows, it KNOWS, what could happen.
It's just interesting to think of Murderbot, our original perspective character and thus kind of taken as the "normal" for bots, as actually being the most incredibly paranoid bot in the story. That every other bot just thinks is kind of weird XD

I'm going to be blunt and maybe controversial here.
Jinu is not a good person, even at the end of the move.
But that's why he's such a good character.
Throughout the movie jinu lies and manipulates, makes bad decisions, and is overall a selfish person, and this doesn't change at the ending when he sacrifices himself.
He still goes through with lying and destroying rumi's life despite deeply caring about her, and still continues on his plan to steal the souls of all of his fans.
All he does is give his soul to rumi, not because he had a change of heart but because he cared deaply for rumi, something that develops over the movie but doesn't change in this scene.
But what makes him such a loved character is that he is human. (I know he's a demon, but just go with it for now)
When he was a human, he was in poverty and, when given a chance to leave it in exchange, had to leave his struggling family. He took it. He chose to be greedy and, because of this, suffered for 400 in shame.
Because of this, he became a monster and a murderer to escape this eternal suffering, even going as far as destroying the only real relationship he had in centuries to be free of it.
This only time he reconsiders his actions is talking with rumi, someone who understands his own pain but chooses to escape her suffering by protecting others.
And even then, he begrudgingly understands he will never deserve the freedom from shame she hopes to get because he believes he is unredeemable, leading him to continue his lies and manipulation forcing him in a cycle
This isn't a good hero or redeemable character but a morally broken one, one that is well created and feels authentic and real and deeply human.
Because humans aren't perfect, not with perfect morals or perfect actions (just have a look at the world rn)
The moral of the movie is to be authentic with who you really are despite the shame you may feel from it, and jinu perfectly encompasses this message.
jinu is a broken person forcing into reliving the mistakes he made for years, he knows he is a bad person and does nothing to change, but when this is striped away with rumi you can see the real jinu.
This jinu, without the shame and broken pieces, who can care and does without restraint until he is forced back into his self hate later on.
Although when he sees this person that allowed him to feel free again of him in danger, it is by no surprise he sacrifices everything he never had before in hopes that maybe she can be free like he never was.
Making up for sacrificing his family for his own gain, sacrificing himself instead of gaining from it because now he understands what it is to be free and to be trapped, and how he would much rather rumi be free with him be that sacrifice than anything else.
Because he knows what it feels like to sacrifice other all too well

The idea that zutara is unhealthy because of it being based on shared trauma is just fundamentally wrong.
There is something very ugly in pathologizing shared trauma and trying to label it as bad. Shared trauma allows victims to name their experiences, to say "it happened to me, too."

It allows us to say "this shouldn't have happened."
It allows us to say "maybe you can heal. Maybe we both can."
This is what the scene between Zuko and Katara in the crossroads of destiny does. It allows both Katara and Zuko to speak about their trauma in ways they never have before. In ways they haven't been allowed to before. Zuko because abuse conditioned him to believe it was normal, and Katara because she believed she had to replace her mother, so had no time to grieve her.
They have a moment of connection that is powerful and intense, and perhaps you could say that it gives them both a false impression of closeness. Katara ends up getting hurt because she felt close to Zuko and put her faith in him, and he betrayed that faith. Because he wasn't really in a position to promise her anything to begin with.
However, the story doesn't end there.
Katara tries to tell herself that the closeness she felt with Zuko wasn't real. She literally tries to say he was only "pretending," although the real reason for her anger is that she knows he wasn't. That moment was real, and powerful. And it's what brings them together again. It's what causes Zuko to seek her out, to make amends.
It's also scary. Katara is angry at Zuko because he KNOWS he's a human being capable of mistakes. It's not how bad he is that worries her, it's his capacity for goodness. Because that means it was actually there all along, but he still chose wrong. That's made clear when she confronts him when they're alone.
It was real, and that's what's scary about it.
"And I don't know why, but I do care what she thinks of me."
If that moment in the caves really meant nothing, why does Zuko take it to heart when Katara says he betrayed her?
Because it meant more to them than both of them realized.
That's why the resolution between them at the end of the Southern Raiders means more than forgiveness. It means the recognition of yourself in someone else. The ability to name what happened to you and say that it can be defeated.
Of course anything can be unhealthy if you subject it to the most bad faith potential scenarios, but the thing about zutara is that it actually addresses the initial false bond created by trauma and then has both characters come out the stronger for it, both in their relationship to each other, and themselves. What happens in canon is the most healthy outcome for both characters in that kind of situation. It could be used as the quintessential example of two people bonding over shared trauma in the most healthy way.
But even if it wasn't, it's still shitty to try and pathologize the idea of shared trauma because of some vague fear that it might be imposing on someone. That's such a puritanical and harmful view of trauma and psychology, let alone a ridiculous thing to say about shipping discourse.
In fact, I seem to remember tumblr having the "is it wrong to romanticize trauma" discourse years ago. It was stupid then, and it still is. Especially in a context which is all about the healing power of shared trauma. Both figuratively and literally.

Hi, i saw you were taking requests on various characters. I was wondering if you could do a wednesday addams x fem!reader.
I don't have a clear idea, but i thought about some things (mostly about the reader), like: reader is taller than Wednesday and can control the shadows (or something like that, something kinda spooky that would interest Wednesday), she is also really strong (like goes to the gym regularly or does a spot that demands a lot of fisical strength), she is good with cooking and is a bit of a joker (she is always saying funny things or snarky remarks). They are already in a relationship, and the school has a free day, so obviously, Wednesday is using it to continue her investigation and the raeder tagging along because 'what kind of gf would i be if i let you go to look for a killing beast alone?', I thought that they could've been out till late at night, so the reader sneaked her way into the kitchen and then to he gf's bedroom. They had been watched by weems throughout the day, so Wednesday usted it to look for information about the hayde. I would absolutely love it if there were some sneaky around to make out. It's okay if you aren't comfortable with that, you don't have to do it.

There was something profoundly fascinating about shadows, about the way they danced to your whims, forming figures so beautifully grotesque that Wednesday found herself willing and ready to observe them endlessly. It started as a simple curiosity, a fascination with everything dark and dreadful, and your shadows matched that. It started with small flickers of your shadow in dim light, changing shape and twisting, silent yet deafeningly loud to Wednesday.
And then that interest slowly shifted to you, as if she was grabbed by your shadows and bound to you. Willing, despite trying to appear like she couldn’t care less. Hardly anything compared to falling into shadows, letting them engulf her and emerging on the other side of the school grounds.
It was convenient, she kept telling herself. She needed to be able to sneak out, to move unnoticed, and you just so happened to have a perfect ability for that.
Yes.
It was just convenience.
Even when she pulled you down to her level, damn you for being taller, and kissed you.
She allowed you to hold her because you needed to, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to travel through your shadows. That was all there was to it. Nothing else. She didn’t get soft.
And she didn’t yearn for that touch, cursing you for respecting the initial boundaries she set and the clear hatred toward any physical affection she clearly displayed.
Wednesday Addams did not miss the feel of your arm around her back when the two of you separated near the monster’s lair.

Despite your best efforts the monster kept being a step ahead of you and Wednesday. Once more you failed to track it despite finding yet another lair it used recently. “Why would it eat animals if it could shift between human and a monster?” you asked as you knelt down and picked up a deer skull. It puzzled you and you were kind of tempted to stand guard and wait for the monster to show up, but ever since Eugene got attacked Wednesday was more cautious.
Wednesday thought it over, perhaps the question never crossed her mind before. She was always so focused on the big picture that sometimes these little details slipped her mind. “Instinct maybe, or maybe it just wants to kill,” that was… an interesting idea.
“Wait, Wednesday,” you paused, because sure, instinct could be an explanation, but then again, the surgically removed body parts, the purpose behind the killings that, while unknown, definitely existed. “There’s someone else. It’s not just the monster!” you realized, exclaiming it so loudly the birds got frightened and flew away, but more importantly Wednesday’s eyes widened.
She began pacing around the lair, frustration visible on her face. “How didn’t I notice it before? It makes sense,” someone had to be instructing the monster, leading it, aiming all of that destructive force.
“You had someone very distracting near you?” you offered with a cheeky grin and Wednesday glanced at you, annoyed, and slightly amused, even if she would never admit it. “Let’s go back before Weems figures out we’re gone,” you offered her your hand, figuring there was nothing else to see here. Wednesday didn’t waste a second and closed the distance between you, letting your shadows consume both of you and in mere seconds you were back on Wednesday’s balcony.
The sunset looked beautiful from Wednesday’s balcony, even if it probably annoyed her, yet you caught yourself admiring your girlfriend as she looked down, the last of sunlight making her eyes shine with even brighter determination than usual. “You’re staring, Y/N,” she didn’t even need to look at you to know.
“Hard not to,” you whispered, approaching her from behind and wrapping your arms around her waist. Anyone else would have lost both of their arms for this, and that made being able to do this, and keep your limbs, even more precious.
“I’m going to check the lair again tomorrow, see if the monster comes back tonight,” she tried to be subtle about it, divert your attention back to the case as she leaned further into your touch.
“We’re going,” you left no room for arguments. “What kind of girlfriend would I be if I let you have all the fun all by yourself,” you teased, but you’d be lying if you said you weren’t slightly worried. Wednesday suffered from self-preservation deficiency, and it often caused problems.
A sound from inside Wednesday’s room made you pull away and you grinned a bit. It was just Enid, but Wednesday was still keeping you a secret from everyone else, even from Thing, so there really was only one option left. You winked at her and fell back as Wednesday rolled her eyes and watched you sinking into your shadow and teleporting back to your room.

She could still feel your arms around her. Strong, from all the training you did, firm, and cool to touch. She enjoyed how cold your hands were, leaving chills behind long after the two of you would separate. Her secret, that’s what you were, always hiding in the shadows with her, always keeping her cautious and careful and on edge.
The way only you could.
“Was that Y/N?” Enid asked as she joined her on the balcony.
“Yes, she missed some notes yesterday during class,” she effortlessly lied, and since you sat a few rows behind Enid the lie was more than believable.
Enid thought it over for a moment. “You know, I bet she just likes you,” Enid was deceivingly perceptive, something Wednesday didn’t expect when she first met the werewolf girl. Queen of gossip indeed, she did have to be perceptive to obtain such a title. Enid smirked, daring to tease Wednesday, as if there would be no consequences. “And I think you like her too,” too perceptive.
“She is useful,” Wednesday denied her feelings, keep on keeping your relationship a secret for as long as possible. Her entire reputation was on the line.
Yet Enid didn’t quite buy it. “Mhm, keep telling yourself it’s just that,” Enid actually sang, unaffected by Wednesday’s glare.
She’s become way too soft, grown to care for too many people. She despised it. It was awful. Dreadful really.

Hours later, after you were sure Enid was asleep you emerged from the shadows on Wednesday’s balcony, with a quick snack specifically made to suit Wednesday’s taste. She was playing cello again, focused, not for a moment interrupting her practice even as you stopped right next to her and offered her a bite of the pie you made.
You half expected to learn how to make poisonous mushrooms edible when you once spoke with Morticia about Addams family cuisine, but that was yet to happen. Wednesday, while still almost entirely focused on her music, accepted the bite and chewed slowly. You adored her. Every single thing about her.
A few minutes later she was done and the pie was forgotten on the railing as the two of you just stood there, side by side, overlooking the school grounds. Damn near all day spent together and you still couldn’t get enough of each other. Wednesday often lamented how she was turning into her father. You’ve seen how Gomez was, and Wednesday wasn’t that bad. Not yet, at the very least. You caught her occasionally looking at your lips and smiled, taking her hand and pulling you to the wall to the left, so that Enid couldn’t catch glimpse of the two of you in case she woke up.
“Wednesday,” you muttered, finally kissing her, finally, after a whole day of pure focus and determination to make progress on the investigation, you could feel her lips on your own. And Wednesday immediately grabbed onto you and deepened the kiss made it clear to you that she wanted this just as much as you did.
Wednesday rarely voiced any reaction, not that I bothered you. You didn’t need to hear her gasp or moan, let alone tell you how she felt. You could tell. Your kisses blazed a path down the side of her neck, and you couldn’t help but smile as Wednesday’s stiff fingers dug into the back of your head and neck, pulling you closer. You could tell how much you affected her by the way she tilted her head to the side, baring the side of her neck for you, or in the way she bit her lower lip, breathing a bit heavier, as if trying to keep the sounds from coming out.
The darkness of the night engulfed both of you, hiding you, the chilling winds actually felt pleasant, and Wednesday, she didn’t tremble one bit. Neither the cold nor your teeth grazing her soft, pale skin, made her shiver. No, barely anything made Wednesday shiver. You slipping your hand under her jacket, not quite daring to push it a step further and touch her bare skin just yet, did make her breath hitch and she shivered slightly under your touch. “Y/N,” her voice was barely louder than a whisper and for a moment you weren’t sure if you imagined it. Your eyes met and her dark eyes, usually void of any desires and instead filled solely with focus, disdain, or unimpressed boredom, now mirrored your own deep desires and need for her.
“Yeah?” you questioned, kissing up her neck until you reached her lips. You waited, letting Wednesday initiate the kiss, and the intensity of it took you by surprise. Wednesday pressed her body against your own, pulling you closer while she held on to you. The kiss was rushed, almost desperate, lips damn near smashing together as Wednesday demanded more, and you gave her more, anything she could want.
Wednesday pulled back, digging her fingers into the back of your head and pushing you lower to her neck. “Teeth,” that was as much as you could ever hope to get from her. A simple word stating what she wanted as you lightly bit her neck. Just enough for her to enjoy it, but not too hard to leave marks tomorrow.
A loud thud made both of you snap out of it and pull away from one another, only to see Enid, with Thing on her shoulder, staring at the two of you with wide eyes and jaw on the floor. “I knew it!” and that was all Enid said, and so the secret was out, the two of you could no longer keep hiding in the shadows, at least in regard to your relationship.
