One problem at a time, something she could do something about, even if that something was maybe just as hopeless. Not ready yet to give up on these unsuccessful attempts at whatever it was she was trying with Suresh, connection maybe? She had always been too headstrong to know when to call it quits, when to let something go. Not everyone has to like you, she thought, a bitter thump in her chest echoed, but you want them to. At least the ones who she felt counted, the ones who mattered even when she could find no discernable reason as to why they would.

Maybe it was the connection he had to Hazal, knowing she would want him cared for, knowing he mattered to her first mother maybe even more than she had. Aiyla shook her head, there were only so many negative and terrible thoughts she could stomach at once. Facing Suresh was easier than facing her own humiliation, so she drew up a portal with ease, something she had done countless times before. It now took a few tries before she could get it right and hold it long enough to step through into Suresh's room. "You left again!" her voice warbled as she entered his space single-sighted and closed the space between them. She quickly realized she wasn't even angry at him for the disqualification, the petty reason why. In truth Aiyla couldn't name a single reason to be angry with him when all her anger belonged to someone else. She needed to hold onto something, grasping at straws and indignation like her last lifeline, "Why?" she asked more, leveling her red-rimmed gaze squarely focused on him. "

"Maybe it's something you ate trapped in that beard." She responded with a lull in her words and a small smile, "They make something for that." She rolled her eyes, "God. I do not clomp. And dancing on bars is usually well received. I'll add it to the list of things that will get you fussed at, k?" She frowned, "Like goblins and trolls?" She replied innocently. He was beautiful, surely company, interesting if she could ignore the bad insults and woeful way he lamented like he was above it all. What are you...a ghoul?" She asked with a shake of her head, "No." She added slowly afterward looking at him as if she could look right through him, " Dryad or something of that nature. Kelpie's are horses- so not that. Giant's seem far fetched." She listed a few, this whole thing she still didn't fully believe wasn't some radioactive mistake that caused these things, but not even she could really convince herself of that.

She shrugged, "There is a reason it's quite luxury and why Gucci is no longer a pinnacle of wealth and is rather associated with outlet malls you find off major highway exits." She focused on the white shirt, "But that looks like something you could pick up at Target." She tapped her finger on the bar top, "Couture is art. Saab and Schiaparelli aren't really the sort of thing you wear to your local pub. You wear it when you want to make a statement and is that not what art is but a statement of living?"

She snapped her teeth into a smile, "Come closer." She challenged, "See how bad your nose is." She was sure all he'd smell was the juice mixed with her cocktails and the gum she kept in her purse. Self-hate wasn't a commonplace. She was a fucking beauty queen turned supermodel. She'd married greats and kept company with the most brilliant minds in the world. Being human was fine. It was the only choice she had- the only one she wanted. "You know what I meant." She crossed her legs one over another, "In my short human life I've been a muse, I've been the artist. Loved and un-loved. Experienced everything I've ever been offered without hesitation. It's been wonderful." She lamented truthfully. It had. "I was born as I am. What if you were born this" She gestured vaguely to him as if that was explanation enough, "and above it all?"

"Well, someone has cut plenty of onions." Suresh grimaced, bringing up a deliberate pair of fingers to pinch his nose as he turned himself pointedly away on his stool. "And you can just not clomp across pub counters like a show-horse, but here we are," he retorted. "I have a suite with a tremendous view. Curtains are for blokes with ugly flats. Besides, I'm already a thing of myth. Epic poetry's been written about the likes of my ilk."

He could not remember his past life, although he supposed he must have lived one. Maybe he really had been among those creatures who devoured the ill-fated sailors of yore. No one could prove otherwise. Suresh flicked his eyes upward once more. "Luxury is not about pinching one's pennies. The price tag is the point, wouldn't you agree? People pretend couture is profound art, but well...it's not for the consumption of the masses, now is it? It's to keep them out the club."

He shook his head. "Certainly not in this corner, but hey, we're both 15-love in this fun little match we're having, aren't we? But don't you worry. When I bite someone, they're quite chuffed with the experience. I brush my teeth." He raised an eyebrow. "And what of it then? Should you like to be something else? Shame. I like myself."

Do I think they should kiss? Eeeeeh. Do I think they should go to the same group therapy sessions and chat? Absolutely.

my overall thoughts on season 7, writing edition: what in the world ? 😭 i cannot believe i thought this season was gonna be good. i’ll be joining rohan & S2 MC in the circus, since FB made me look like a damn clown. i don't even know where to begin

being a casa girl had so much potential, and it was something that a lot of players actually wanted, even before FB started doing these themed seasons. they really fumbled the bag here

i enjoyed casa amor. the guys were all unique, had their own dialogue, and it was cool to see their pre-established relationships (alex being the villa dad, bryson and rafa being partners in chaos, the beef between bryson & joyo) then we arrived in the villa, and it all went downhill from there:

everybody became an empty husk, so they could be forced into interchangeable roles: uma’s partner, bonnie’s partner, OG LI’s ex, loved up couple (summer/joyo or #rafne) to name a few. FB’s lazy asses ruined their own characters . why is alex, the supposed level-headed & mature one, being petty & childish af in my playthrough? 😭

MC literally had no thoughts, head empty. we barely participated in any of the challenges and games. it felt like we didn't do anything besides "get pulled for a chat" by your LI or the girls

the LI personality merge in this season was the worst it has ever been. all they do is agree with whatever you say, or tell you how great you are (gone are the days of LIs having their own interests, & getting extra dialogue because of that, like levi with artist MCs)

same problem as the most recent seasons, where MC doesn’t have friendships. she has a forced bestie, then potential LIs that sit around waiting for you to pick them, choose them, love them (they immediately disappear if you don’t pick them)

the plot made no sense at all. being a casa girl means we miss out on the first half of the season, but there were many different ways they could've shown what happened before we arrived (it couldve been something as simple as MC watching the show at home or during the jeep ride to the villa. lol) the timeline was inconsistent, so much important information was paywalled, and i’m pretty sure FB was just making shit up as they went along, since the drama with stephen and OG LI's ex genuinely came out of nowhere . he wasn’t previously mentioned in the beach hut, casa amor, nothing . his only purpose was to make the OG girl look bad.

speaking of the OG girls, what a disappointment . before we got to the villa, i honestly thought they were hinting at estelle and/or willow being LIs . even if they were forced to be our rival, they still could’ve had an interesting character arc . it would've been a lot more fun if she was like allegra, rather than OG LI's equivalent of suresh

i was gonna write, "why tf did she even make it to the finale?" but the answer is obvious : for the gem scenes. every damn volume, it's pay diamonds to upstage her, pay diamonds to clapback, pay diamonds so “your man” doesn't turn his head 🙄 it's already stupid enough, but it makes even less sense if you're not pursuing your OG LI

which leads me to the biggest problem of this season, the lack of branching. you're given the illusion of choice, everything leads to the same outcome . i didn't think it could get any worse, until i saw what happens when you choose the money . does your LI storm off? nope. they make you do the treasure hunt anyways...to win you back ??😭 MC should've called security on their ass

s7 had a promising start but ended up being a flop. it was better than s5, but that's really not saying much . i wish FB would just take their time—s1 and 2 had a whole year long gap between them. but it's clear that rushed seasons are gonna be the norm, season 8 is dropping in february . capitalism ruins everything luv x

s9 vol 6: oh fuck I was joking last time but am i.. is this gonna be a Hamish route for me??? 😳

i guess first of all, the kelly/kat drama. I know it's yet again Finn and Kat but I'm happy they're dealing with it in a different way (although if S5 is Suresh's island, I can't help but think S9 is Kat's island 🙄). The thing that annoyed me the most is MC not being able to say anything? Like Kelly brought up the note, I feel like MC and Finn should've said something.

however we do get this, which, as someone with a friend whose name starts with K going through relationship troubles with a Korean man, actually I'm offended they took my joke and made it less funny,

but snog marry pie! Most of the girls (my MC included) choosing to kiss Hamish? It's like we all forget how bad a kisser he was in S6 like what happened. however, uhhh kinda worth it like I was initially intrigued about a Finn or Stefan route but Hamish is really coming in as a dark horse with chat like this (especially considering how sassy MC can be this season)

and the thing too is even though hes clearly changed bc they're making him a serious LI this season, there are several moments where I'm like yeah that's the same guy that had the audacity to ask S6 MC to run away with him at the end of S6

Then I played by rules like Chen, and chose a different person to snog, a different person to marry, a different person to pie. And then Hamish gets his little moment kissing and marrying MC, which kind of undermines the big moment which is his speech where he pies himself? like the talk on the terrace later this volume is great and I love the flirty banter between him and MC but he's so wishy washy about Natasha and it just doesn't really get addressed?

Kat's partner (in my game, Jude) is a whole mess. Like it'd be one thing if he's gonna be like "hey I'm sorry I was just defending Chen because I misinterpreted some stuff I thought you did" but it's another to do all that meanwhile he was also being shady about flirting with Melissa???

Then they call the incident Melgate bc... fusebox struck gold with Cherrygate and has been trying to recreate it ever since and has always failed. I never clicked the gem scene that would prompt Kat to tell you this story, and so I was so confused until they explained it in the next episode and that was so annoying. Then they do the thing (again!) where they like shame you for not being a friend (Kat's like "I tried to tell you"). this is worse than when you had an ugly dress and the girls were like God you look awful.

Jude being vague during the game was annoying bc i know theyre just stretching it out but also absolutely I could see that happening on the show where he's like "you know what you did. we'lltalk about it later" and it cuts to MC in the beach hut being like "judes being a real bitch. of course I know what I did but which time are you referring to"

Chen being constantly voted the sweetest during the challenge and then awards night is great but also just reminds me that his character is gonna be so vague from now on bc he's sharing a personality with three other guys. like its gonna hurt to break him but also he's not getting the care from the writing team that they've been giving the other routes so unfortunately he's boring rn 😬. doesn't even have the audacity to be mad just has to go away and think. And Chen just keeps taking L's too with MC (at least in my game) flirting with everyone and Jude in his ear saying MC can't be trusted. like if he twists in casa I'm not even sure if the audience would blame him (they would bc they love MC but ya knowww)

God don't remind me I'm missing not only missing actual litg season 2 but also what I have instead is Kat and Finn season 2

anyway MC being able to say never have I ever had a steamy shower with someone? she's so messy

also with Natasha explaining more of what she did in casa on her original season has me making things up in my head bc you gotta be a pretty memorable casa girl for the game to pretend you're an all star but she didn't even make it to the actual villa so that's even harder to imagine, but I'm going to pretend she flirted with one of the guys while also sneaking behind his back with Roxy and people ate that up. then he tells her he wants to bring her to the villa and she rides off into the sunset with Roxy instead (or Roxy breaks her heart goes in the villa with a guy idk)

I'm starting to think Kat's gonna end up either with Finn or if MC is with Finn, then single but then we get a reunion episode and she reveals she's dating Finn's brother bc she has a TYPE (also wouldn't be out of the ordinary for fusebox bc of the grace/ozzy/marshall thing but it's still icky to me lol)

then lastly for brunch we got the first of TWO prompts this volume to lay to learn about your own backstory?? I mean no question I'm upset about paying for information but your OWN character??

I had no problem saying no though like I feel like there's enough context about Sarah Ann for me to guess (side note, if anyone from Casa comes back with Sarah Ann I'm throwing hands)

OK but awards now. I feel like awards night is usually an end of season thing when the producers of the show have not much drama left bc the couples are solid and they want to throw in drama for the last week, but seeing as this is a game and they can just write in the finale whenever, I guess here is alright. (I wonder if that means no movie night then though?)

the clip they showed of Natasha? honestly, I respect her more for it. like idk she just seems more real than this perfect character flirting with MC all the time if she's venting to Hamish about also being sick of Kat and Finn or small things like Kelly taking long to get ready.

Here's where I did wish there was more branching like I think if you didn't do anything with Finn you should get a nice award, like about being loyal, while the clip still showed Finn being sneaky. like I don't doubt that if this were real, the producers of the show WOULD show the note and then getting cut off before MC realizing it's Finn and not her partner, but it's irritating to get blamed for that and even worse, MC does not get a real chance to defend herself, we just listen to everyone else's reactions.

anyway in my game MC should've been shown pieing off Finn at the pool and then Jude apologizing realizing he didn't understand what he saw. and then subsequently after show the clip of MC trying to kiss Finn at the shower and him rejecting her bc I personally loved that moment and I actually gasped when I thought they were gonna show it instead of cutting it off (bc again, not enough branching)

I did spend the gems on the second MC lore thing bc I was like ehh why not it's the end of the volume and like wow I get why I like s9 mc now, she's so Bobby coded 🤣

once again, I do appreciate the effort going into Hamish's route rn bc he has actual consequences and regrets for hooking up with Melissa and it getting exposed. OK maybe not actual consequences bc I think the game will just continue to pair up him and Natasha but the fact that there are some repercussions at all AND he gets to talk out his feelings and regrets about it with MC on the terrace after? And then he continues to show interest in MC and explain his reasons for not being with her and also the whole hi trying to look for validation from his dad? sorry Finn and Chen, the writers are playing favorites

I did not think we were getting casa lmao. there's no casa in the actual love island all stars and love island games so I was surprised but I'm curious about who the other boys are, if they're all gonna be international or are we gonna see at least one more UK islander? if Cassius is coming in during casa it feels like he's gonna be overshadowed and his route is probably merged with some international guys, which I guess makes enough sense like we didn't know him during season 7 anyway but I'm just curious.

Nothing short of death would have caused Leto's father to leave Suresh's side. Something Leto had done for what he called 'love'. Over 2000 years Leto's father had been his friend and confidant. There had been room for love too. There was no way to explain to someone what it had been like to lose him. No way for Suresh to ever quantify the loss. It had been like losing a limb, something so much apart of himself suddenly ripped away. And having to learn how to live without. It wasn't something he talked about. How could he? Suresh nodded, coming back to the conversation. He knew his son would be safe.

"Never stopped anyone that truly wanted to make money." Suresh enjoyed the idea of altruism, and felt like he practiced his own version of it. Give back to his City in the ways he could. Protecting it was protecting his own interests. He feels the excitement before he sees it on Leto's face. He shook his head, "I have not seen it." He blinked at the idea of swimming in a tank. "A tank? What's wrong with Pontchartrain?"

If only Suresh how much Leto tried to be someone that his second father would be proud of. He already knows he'll never be able to surpass a man such a Topiltzin, or Alejandro Herrera for anyone else than Suresh, his wife and his son Leto. Over 2000 years at Suresh's side. Losing his first father at 16 had shattered Leto, utterly destroyed his mother who'd known him for centuries, but what of Suresh? The naga had known him the longest. But today ain't the day to think about that, especially not when the thought of losing his father rattles him so much.

"I believe you. I'll make sure my staff is warned about him then." It'd mostly be about acting normal, but making sure Leto was called first. As small as ripples are, they're still a disturbance.

"Considering how expensive everything else is, it would've been a dick move to make people pay for the model. We have three sea turtles with the harness, but six in total. Though, we'll release two of those that are just with us till they're healed." There's a pause, before Leto looks quite excited again. "You have not seen the marine tank. I'm hoping we'll be able to swim in it one day." He'd made sure it'd be big enough for his father to swim comfortably in it.

Versi was sitting at the bar, chatting away to some random. He was a couple drinks in, but not yet tipsy, only buzzed. The random person he was speaking with was just a tourist who had been on a tour with him about an hour ago, and the tour ended here at a haunted bar in the French Quarter. By this point of the conversation Versi was now going on about his podcast, Ghost Shift, showing the tourist where he could find it so he could listen to it. They laughed a little more and then the tourist man decides he’s had enough paranormal talk for the evening. He waves goodbye to him, ordering another drink. Just one more would not hurt, it didn’t seem he would be called upon by Suresh tonight, plus he planned to be a bit social this evening anyway.

His attention turns to someone nearby, greeting them with a smile as warm as the summer sun, “Hello, I’m Versi. How long have you been sitting there? Hopefully my stories of this bar being haunted haven’t startled you, but isn’t it so neat? Not like the murder part, obviously, but that we are literally sitting in a realm of spirits! There might be one sitting right by you, enjoying a drink too.” He paused, “Sorry. That was weird of me. I’ll just…please ignore me.”

After her head count she'd made a list of who she needed to go check on further and in red circled was Suresh. She had questions for the siren, her personal thorn in her side who made it difficult for her to admit how deeply she cared for him. He was one of her own, something she had spent her entire young life trying to understand. It meant something. At least to her so when he exited as soon as the meeting was over Aiyla excused herself politely as soon as possible and followed him to his room. Composing herself Aiyla schooled her expresion into something neutral, something more together than she was and knocked loudly. "Suresh...it's me." She called pulling her fist back to knock again with a little more force.

I know Eddie was an asshat, but I'm really hoping to have him get a redemption arc. (My hopes are low bc this is fusebox.)

But my biggest ick about this season right off the bat is that we did not have a choice to be a former islander that we already played! With Ham man and Eddie, two of the unattainables from previous seasons, being around (and two that some of us had tried to pursue at least a little) I was super bummed to find I couldn't be from Love Island UK 😣

I dunno, I think not being from LIUK makes sense. If you were from LI UK, there would be so many extra questions they'd have to ask like:

What season were you from?

If you were from S4, did you kiss hazeem? Who did you couple up with first? Who was your endgame LI? Did you kiss Tom on your date? Did you kiss / sleep with Dylan? Etc etc etc.

If you're from S5, did you sleep with Finn in the shower? Who was your endgame LI? Who did you bring back from Casa? What was your attitude toward Suresh?

And like, what if in S6 of your game you ran off with Hamish? How the hell does THAT work??? They then have to invent an entire backstory about how, when, and why you broke up. What if Finn was your endgame? The chats with him are going to be completely different and all about why your relationship doesn't work, and then it's a separate game in and of itself and Kat plays basically no part in it.

Do you see what I mean? If they just made assumptions it would be a completely inaccurate game for most players, but in order to make it consistent they'd have to ask you a BAJILLION QUESTIONS at the start. And yeah, they were able to link them together in previous seasons, but maybe in this new app they can't link the games together like they used to. And maybe that's why they're planning to transition to the old app.

Idk. It would've been cool but I wouldn't call it an ick. It's just a choice they made in order to not have to do a crapload of branching (read: effort).

I think we might be setting our expectations a bit high. Come on. Let's be realistic we know who's making this game lol.

Speaking of… I saw someone mention Finn and Kat are experiencing what MC and Suresh had and that is literally it.
