Chicken OCS??? Oh hell yeah. What are their favorite foods?

ohh that’s a tough one. I haven’t really thought of it much…

Umbra would probably like a lot of seafood, given she grew up near the ocean. Her favorite would probably be shrimp, especially if it’s paired with rice or grits.

Dia will eat just about anything you put in front of her, but he especially likes dumplings and corn. Also she has a bit of an appetite for burgers and pizza.

Clover has a major sweet tooth, but sweets and candies are luxury for her since she lives off the grid. So she would probably love sweet breads and berries, since those things are more accessible to her.

Maggie likes really plain foods. They would probably be fine if you made her eat plain pasta for the rest of her life. Easy Mac and instant ramen are their favorites. She knows she likes them and they are quick and easy to make. Tho they can get a bit expensive.

Rosetta likes more flavorful and homemade food than her sister. She eats a lot of roasted bugs and other forms of protein because she usually works jobs that require a lot of physical labor. Her girlfriend is a really good cook and even Maggie has taken a liking to her food. Rosetta’s favorite meal is probably roasted moss patties on rice and Alfredo sauce.

The Design Evolution of Clover Bennet

These were Clover’s very first pieces of concept art, and I believe she was the first one of the characters I ever drew digitally (tho there is a drawing of Dia that may predate this). The earliest Designs of the characters more realistically resemble actual chickens, and are much more detailed. I also didn’t know how to draw her legs so I kinda just didn’t draw them at all.

I drew a few more designs, and after making concepts for a few other characters (who will be getting their own posts), I decided on a more cartoony style. Some of these design elements seen in these early drawings are still present in the current style. For example, the more paw-like feet, because to this day, I cannot draw bird feet. I also finally gave her a sweater, which she has kept throughout all of her designs and was also inspired by Mabel Pines’ iconic sweater.

I eventually switched her accent color and sweater color, both making her name make more sense since she was now naturally green, and also leaning more into the Mabel Pines inspiration. I also got rid of the brown gradient on her wings, head, and tail around this time to make her simpler and easier to keep consistent.

I also made these concept sheets for each of the main characters, and poor Clover probably had the most boring one. I was pretty set on these core elements, however I did soon start messing with them more.

Each of the characters also got one of these turn arounds. They weren’t my best work looking back, but they were very useful because they helped me see some of the flaws in the proportions and perspective of this style. I changed Clover’s sweater colors again to yellow and pink, which I have kept as the sweater color from here on. I also changed the shape of her wings and gave her tail two floofy segments instead of the previous three.

After making those ref sheets, I started adjusting the style as a whole to make it look more cohesive and easier to draw. I mainly changed the head shape and the connection between the back and the tail. They still all had the more round and almost chibi style from the reference sheets, but it was still a bit stronger.

I eventually made this lineup, which I think is floating around somewhere on my main blog. I wanted to give the characters stronger silhouettes, and made this as a base for the current lineup.

These are what I currently use as reference when I draw Clover. I gave all of the characters more diverse shape language, but Clover remained about the same. She has always been the kinda soft round one, given why she was the only one who kept the plain circular eyes.

And this is how she looks now! Her design as well as the other characters might change a bit more over time, but I’m overall happy with this look.

Montgomery generally doesn't care as he knows how to get them off without ruining his paint. He's been pulling stickers off for like 2 years by the time he's a Glamrock. He actually gets less stickers put on him now than he did as a golf attendent

The daycare attendant is used to it. Their metal and paint is designed to be easily cleaned from anything. So just some water will get any sticker off their frame. Their clothes is a little harder and where his Handler comes in to help

DJMM pays stickers no mind when he notices them. He rather likes his legs being covered in stickers from various bands and such. But unfortunately the higher ups don't like it, so his Handlers have to clean his legs pretty often through the day. They've set up a sticker wall to encourage people to stick stickers there instead. It's worked pretty well

Roxy hates it. She feels disrespected when she finds one. Stirs up her anxiety about being nothing more than property. She can't even get the stickers off property and usually has a breakdown about it. Monty swings by most nights to say hi, so he'd help her get them off while easing her worries. Otherwise she has to wait till the morning for her Handler to get them off

Chica doesn't let anyone stick stickers on her. Swings her head around and in the most polite voice "Do you know how hard I can kick backwards?" to send the brats running away screaming. Her Handler off to the side desperately trying not to laugh. If someone does manage to stick it on, you bet your ass she's scanning for traces of who did it so she can talk to them if they come in again

Freddy thinks it's cool, but usually gets some more of the rude stickers than fun ones :( his Handler tries to get them off as he sees them, but there's usually residue from the stickers. Monty helps him clean up after hours too. Talking about the tea from the day as he scraps, cleans, and repaints if needed

first half was just "awww cute lighthearted movie, neato, this is cool!" loving the characters and the vibe, everything's going well. Seems like the conflict wrapped up a little too quickly, so i check how much time is left. there is another half of the movie, so ok awesome! wonder what they're gonna do!

I have long wanted to write a headcanon where high demons have lesser forms, so take a walk with me on this:

Imagine that the brothers are fighting with each other and one of them takes a serious hit, like, somebody's left hook got them right in the jaw and it was brutal. They fall to the ground, stone cold, and... just. Poof into a tiny little critter. Like a verison of their familiar. And they can't retake human form until they've rested and healed their wounds.

I'm doing that.

Lucifer becomes this fat-ass, little peacock. He's like one of those rotund Chocobo from the Final Fantasy universe, you just want to pick him up and squeeze him but he's slightly too heavy for that. His feathers are black, save for the tail which have black, red, blue, and green markings. If something makes him "Poof!" then he'll hide away in the Castle because he refuses to let his brothers ever see him in that state. MC can visit him, though, and he'll coo and get all fluffy whenever they pet his tummy.

Mammon turns into a three-eyed raven, but not fat like Luci. He basically becomes a bigger verison of one of his familiars, he's about the size of an eagle. For being the second strongest he gets "Poof!-ed" rather often because he gets caught up in so many fights. Most of the time, he's just a bystander then some stray shot hits him and suddenly he's squawking everybody's ear off! Hilariously, he's arguably smarter in this form so when he's stuck as a bird, his grades actually improve (if anyone can read his actual chicken scratch penmanship).

Levi becomes a snake. Duh. He has similar markings along his back to the colorful scales on his neck in his demon form. He isn't even the length of your average scarf, so MC can drape him behind their neck easily and he doesn't get in the way. He's absolutely MISERABLE like this, though, because he has no hands to play games with. He can get extra clingy to people if he's feeling cold, but MC has to invite him to share their body heat because he's too shy to signal what he wants.

As much as Satan would love to be a cat, he becomes a little unicorn (Sorry, I didn't make the lore). He's about the size of one of those miniature horses, but don't be fooled. He will snap your kneecaps and he's at perfect height to rear-kick his brothers right in the crotch. His coat is black but his tail, mane, and the underside of his horn are all his signature green. If he every gets "Poof!-ed!" he's big mad, so he'll spend the entire time trying to kick and spear his brothers so they have to suffer along with him. He's the cause of a lot of chain "Poof!-ings."

Asmo becomes the smallest, cutest scorpion you ever did see. Well, as cute as scorpions can be. His whole body becomes hot pink and he has the biggest widdle eyes (think those jumping spiders who wear raindrops on their heads type energy). He's also venomous as all hell, so his brothers HAVE to make sure that they continously call him "small, cute, and adorable" lest they suffer a week's worth of paralytic toxin. He can fit the palm of a hand and makes MC tie a little bow around his tail so he doesn't feel too bad about being under-dressed.

Beel, unfortunately, becomes a fly. A big fly (by fly standards), but a fly nonetheless. You wouldn't even know that it's him if he weren't traffic cone orange. Literally everyone panics when he gets "Poof!-ed" because it would only take some bozo with a swatter to put an end to the sweetest brother... Belphie never lets Beel out of his sight and even has a tiny leash so he can keep track of him if they have to go out. He's a lot easier to feed like this, but everyone has to resist that automatic urge to smack him away from their dinner plates.

Belphie ironically has the largest lesser form out of his brothers. He's a cow, more specifically a bull, but there's nothing special about him aside from the navy fur. He is a full grown bull and he loves to lord it over the others if they all get "Poof-ed!" at once. Also, good luck getting him to do ANYTHING in this form. He is a bull. If he does not want to move, he will not be moving. Not even Beel can carry him like this. He's the only brother who doesn't mind getting "Poof-ed!" all that much because of it.

What's your opinion on someone *asking* a spirit to give them the Sight?

I've seen posts where people say that it has to be a gift, and can't be asked for. (And some saying it's disrespectful to even ask)

I've seen other people say that they asked their deities/spirits to provide them with it and they did.

Obviously everyone's going to have a different opinion, but I'm just curious what yours is!

It is so weirdly bizarre how difficult it is for witches to ask their helper spirits for help.

We can be talking tutelary spirits, friends, caring gods, literal familiars contracted to help, any of them -

It midkey messes me up how resistant witches are (and myself included sometimes) to just asking for help.

"I really want to learn this but I'm struggling-" "Did you ask your spirits for help?" "No I don't want to bother them." (*I would rather learn generic things online than continue the line of knowledge and lore carried by my spirits; I don't want to be a beacon that shines their light into the world through acting on their teachings, thereby being their conduit into this world, granting them reciprocal power and deep honor.)

'Second Sight' may be a generic term for a skill, but the technique you use to access it is unique to you. The spiritual mythology and lore behind why your spirits teach things this way, and the most important and moral uses for this skill, are unique to your spirit family.

The spirits choosing to help us is a big commitment on their part. When spirits choose to become our guides, protectors, familiars, and initiators, we often think of how this is our responsibility (to talk to them, to give offerings, whatever). But not many people talk about how much of a responsibility it is for them.

Why would spirits undertake this huge responsibility - of being someone's guiding god, of being their helper spirit, of teaching them magical skills? Is it because they all just want offerings? Is it out of a sense of duty?

No.

I hazard a guess, in fact I will offer a belief for the taking, that most spirits who choose to help us do so because they love us and care about us.

They sit down with us, break bread with us at our table, and invite us into their families. They do it because they want to be our family.

And when we join their families,

we honor and respect them by often asking for help.

Why is this?

Because when you ask them for help learning Second Sight, they get to teach you their familial methods and traditions. They get to teach you their lore and stories. They get to celebrate the passing of their clan's knowledge down to the next generation of practitioners.

They are the mythic elders dancing with joy that the practitioner they help, guide, and protect, loves them back enough to learn their ways.

I would teach any of my family how to crochet. I'm quite fancy at it, and I'm a good teacher. Who will I teach: the person who asks to learn, or the person who does not ask to learn?

It is a gift either way.

Asking for it doesn't make it less of a gift.

Witchcraft is family you have to choose to participate in.

When you participate in your spirit family's teachings and enact their wisdom, morals, skills, and goals in the world, you are a literal conduit of the spirit world - a lamp that shines their light into this world, and providing them with reciprocal influence and power into the world.

It does not honor the spirits to shut them out. It is not respectful to ignore their extended hand of grace. You are not a burden to them.

You are not a burden to them.

They are here because they want you to be a part of the family.

And if you like, if you want to, you can ask them to help you learn the family's ways. You can ask them to help you with Sight to see the family, with knowledge to understand the family, and with skills to help the family.

If you want to, you can live a path filled with the teachings and wisdom of your spirits. You can be a singular point in timespace where their teachings spill over into the world around you.

You can be the body of your spirits in this world. You can be their footprint.

But how can you, unless you ask them to shine through you?

What if the spirits didn't roll their eyes and tap their feet when you came calling? What if they didn't groan and look at their watches and say, 'well at least I'll get an offering...'

What if their eyes filled with love and they breathed a sigh of relief that you now, finally, are ready to ask to receive the gifts that have always been offered?

ok so I haven’t played monopoly in years and I had to google the different pieces and somehow end up on the monopoly token wiki. Highly fascinating, 10/10 wiki article. Anyways.

In order from left to right:

Dia would pick the top hat because she like feeling spiffy and is generally a goofy guy

Clover would pick the wheelbarrow because she does a good bit of farming and gardening and really enjoys it

Maggie would pick the battleship because she is fascinated by boats and the ocean and she loves to feel the wind in her face

Umbra would pick the thimble because of her appreciation of fashion and clothing

Rosetta would pick the boot because she likes stability and is the most grounded of the bunch

I think. I wrote this pretty quickly and I think umbra could also very well be the battleship because she grew up near the ocean and Maggie could also be dog bc she loves animals. The other three are solid though

Don Knotts (The Incredible Mr. Limpet, The Ghost and Mr Chicken, The Reluctant Astronaut)—Just look at him. He’s just a lil scrungly guy. Also he started entertaining as a ventriloquist, and there’s nothing scrunglier than a ventriloquist. In all seriousness, Don Knotts’ career is singularly unique. His speaking voice was iconic, and he used it to his advantage and played it up – see also the included YouTube link to his small role in No Time for Sergeants [link]. He not only played second fiddle comedic character roles, but also played leading comedic character roles. He didn’t need a sidekick for his movies but he could *be* the sidekick if needed. That’s key to Scrungly Little Guy™ behavior, in my opinion. Knotts undoubtedly influenced many comedians and sitcom characters in both his lifelong film and TV career – and I do mean lifelong, as his final role was in 2006, the year he passed away! In the 70s, he became a frequently used actor in live action Disney comedy films for kids like The Apple Dumpling Gang and appeared in many children’s programs. Knotts was said to be one of the nicest guys in Hollywood, which is important for Scrungly Little Guy™ lore.

Josephine Hull (Arsenic and Old Lace, Harvey)—Josephine Hull was only in two major movies - “Harvey” and “Arsenic and Old Lace” - but those two roles made her an icon. Her mobile, expressive face is unforgettable. She was expert at playing these women who seem to be very conventional, until you scratch the surface and realize they’re scrungly to the core. The scene in Harvey where she is watching a bad performance at her soiree, and trying to look pleased while actually being appalled, is priceless [link]. In that same movie, she has wonderful scenes where she is trying awfully hard to disbelieve in Harvey (her brother’s invisible friend who is a 6-foot-tall white rabbit) but finds herself, to her horror, believing in him. (This one is a highlight - she comes in around 2:50 [link] Her other role, in Arsenic and Old Lace, is a sweet little old lady who the hero (Cary Grant) discovers to his horror has been murdering people. And again she sells her total conviction that she is normal, while being decidedly NOT. Another great example of her wonderful talent at scrungly facial expressions is in this scene, where she is waiting for an old man to drink poisoned wine [link]

Don Knotts:

TBH, I was first introduced to Don knotts in things like three's company, the og Scooby-Doo cartoons, and later on that Disney chicken little movie. He's probably most remembered from his time on the Andy griffith show. But just look at him! Don't you just wanna put him situations?

When you say scrungly his face is just what immediately pops into my head

Don Knotts plays in most if not all of his filmography someone who is kinda dull-witted, afraid of his own shadow, or kind of cowardly. He is the scrungliest of scrungly people!

- Watches a lot of true crime. Her interest started young after her school friend was abducted. Sometimes wishes she had gone to be a detective.

- Listens to mixtapes fans send her, and has been integral to helping people get discovered.

- Came from nothing, so she helps people how she can while still living the life she's always wanted.

- She very much has the cool aunt vibes to her. She doesn't care what you're doing, just don't get stepped on or get her in trouble and she doesn't care.

- Is more popular with older kids.

- Will give mini shows singing various metal and rock songs of asked.

- Listens to groups like In This Moment, and practices to their songs in her Green room. She's been given music she's not supposed to have by her Handler, and buy various guests.

- Very laid back.

- Very loosely listens to the rules. She's more or less overlooked most of the time anyhow, so nobody really says anything to her.

- Lowkey nervous she's next to go, but there isn't an animatronic set to replace her yet that she knows of.

- Steals arcade cards so she can play the arcade at night. DJMM likes to watch

-she is chaotic neutral in the sense of like a Cheshire type character, so she truly can go with anyone. she is orderly but you don’t know what the order is.

-her name comes from the latin word for silver(her OG hair was more silver:))

-so she has powers like: telekinesis and telepathy.(cus that chicken scratch is actually unintelligible)

-eyes are described as the sun shining trough the leaves.

I checked it over again, because 69 would mean only 162 years as a vampire, and now that I checked it really IS 39. 39 + 192 as a vampire.

The grave says 229 - 268, NR assumably, even if it's marked as DR in-game, so that makes 39, and then you convert that to the actual DR it's 1261 to 1300. So, he's 231 in 1492. The correction on the original was wrong, too. Easy mistake to make, tho, as NR funnily has year 0 which most calendar systems don't have.

elven cultural maturity in dnd is reached at 100, yes, but that does not make a 90 y/o elf a child. i’ll try to explain more (but please correct me if i am wrong about any of it, this is just what i’ve gathered):

before 100, elves can reflect on their past lives while trancing, but around 100 is when they become unable to do that— which means that 100 is a milestone for the end of the connection to their past life and the full embracing of their current life, as well as to mark how much worldly experience they have.

with the 100 year milestone, they pick a new “adult” name for themselves and usually leave their family home to set out on their own and explore the world and gain wisdom and all that elven stuff.

well before turning 100, elves are mature in pretty much every sense except culturally, because elves live a long time and need a longer time to be considered well seasoned. that’s all the elven age of maturity is.

astarion is not literally a child, just inexperienced and young relative to older elves. it is sad that he didn’t get to experience the proper milestones, but stop creating more ways to treat him like a baby. it’s weird.
