in your household, you like to think of yourself as the one in charge. sure, satoru might sit at the head of the table during meals, or lounge in his special chair that no one else dares to touch because it is “daddy’s seat”… but when it comes to running the show — you are the boss. other parents often compliment you on how well-behaved your children are, and you take pride in your A+ parenting skills. and let’s be honest — your kids can get a little wild. but usually, a stern talking to from you is enough to get them back in line. what you don’t realize, however, is while you attempt to discipline your kiddos, the real authority is coming from over your shoulder; where satoru simply has to shoot them a single glare, remaining alarmingly silent and calm as he does so. and that is all it takes. no need for words. no fuss. just one look from their typically easygoing father, and suddenly your tornadoes are perfect angels.

Rackham has a lot of killer quotes but by god is "Hard labor with no wages, working at--wait for it--the production of textiles. 'You people, incapable of accepting the world as it is,' says the man to whom the world handed everything. If no Anne, if no rescue, if this is defeat for me, then know this: you and I were neck and neck in the race right till the end. But Jesus, did I make up a lot of ground to catch you." Has to be my favorite

Sometimes people call Bruce "hypocritical" when he is simply a parent that doesn't want his kids to do the same mistakes as him. You know, something every normal parent does.
Like, is he hypocritical when he wants them to finish college when he didn't, or is he just a parent that sacrificed his studies for a cause and wants his kids to enjoy university without the same pressure? Is he hypocritical when he doesn't want his kids to date dangerous people when he has quite the track record, or is he just a parent that wants to protect his kids from the same heartbreaks and dangers he went through? Is he hypocritical when he gets angry his kids got hurt protecting him when he would do the same for them, or is he just a parent and it is his role to protect his kids, and he sees the inverse has a failure from his part, as a child shouldn't protect their parent? Is he hypocritical when he gets annoyed that his kids don't take care of themselves and their injuries when he often doesn't take care of himself, or is he just a parent that wants his kids to be safe and in good health more than he wants himself safe and in good health? Is he hypocritical when he wants them to be less violent when he has been extremely violent in the past, or is he just a parent that knows the error of his ways and wants his kids to be better than him?
He wants his kids to be better than him, which means not making the same mistakes.

The years of the first Robin annoying Batman... It all started with a virtual meeting because in DC Skype technology existed early and actually didn't look like potato quality footage.
Batman was in the middle of a video meeting with members of the Justice League, discussing pressing world matters. Meanwhile, in a nearby corner of the Batcave, Dick, dressed in his Robin suit, was seen climbing the dinosaur statue.
Batman: The issue is—
Robin!Dick (shouting): Batman! Batman!
Batman (ignoring his son): The issue is—
Robin!Dick (standing on the dinosaurs head, shouting): Look! Look how high I climbed! LOOK AT ME!
Batman paused, sighing silently, clasping his hands together as he silently prayed his son wasn’t doing something dangerous.
Batman (whispering to himself): Don’t be on the dinosaur.
He turned around in his seat and saw what he feared. He let out a scream, causing those in the virtual meeting to stifle their laughter.
Batman: Damn it, Robin! What did I tell you about climbing that?!
Robin!Dick (sitting on top of the dinosaur’s head): I gotta wear knee pads when I climb.
Batman: Alfred told you that! You’re actually wearing them?!
Robin!Dick (patting his bike helmet): Yep, and a helmet, aren't I a good boy?
Batman: Get off the dinosaur!
Robin!Dick: No. Climb up here and get me!
Batman cursed under his breath, then reached for the emergency grappling hook and some rope.
Batman: Raising kids was supposed to be easy, I said. He doesn’t have that much energy, I said. Why is this my life? Hold on, everyone!
Batman excused himself and headed toward the dinosaur, while the Justice League members watched, entertained.
Wonder Woman: He’s going to fall before the kid gets down.
Green Lantern!Hal: Five bucks says he’s got a mat underneath that dinosaur because he’s definitely falling off.
A minute later, Batman had climbed up the dinosaur, but Robin kicked off the hook, causing Batman to land on the conveniently placed mat below.
Batman: Alright… now I’m mad.
Superman: Almost got him?
Batman: Eat a cactus!
Robin!Dick hummed happily, pulling out a Granola Bar and snacking while Batman moved to the front of the dinosaur, securing the rope to his side and using suction cup hand grips to climb higher.
Reaching the left side of the dinosaur’s head, Batman grabbed Robin by his own head and forcibly slid him down the dinosaur’s neck.
Robin!Dick (eagerly jumping): WEEEEE! Again!
Batman: No, not again! Grounded!
Batman then slid down the dinosaur’s tail. Robin!Dick swayed with an almost too-sweet grin. Batman exhaled heavily, visibly enraged at his disobedient son.
Robin!Dick: Your face is all red… Are you mad at me, Papa? I love you.
Most of the Justice League could be heard ‘aww’ing at the wholesome manipulation, but Batman wasn’t falling for it. Three minutes later, he was back at his desk, continuing the meeting with his son next to him, tied up with rope.
Robin, however, wasn’t upset. He simply rocked his feet and hummed a few songs.
Batman: Do you have anything to add, Robin?
Robin!Dick: Hmm… We should get better climbing gear. I kicked off the grappling hook with ease. Sloppy, Papa. Very sloppy.
Robin chuckled as he watched his father cover his face and grumble under his breath.
Robin!Dick: I also request that the Justice League buildings have vending machines with popular snacks and water.
Superman: That’s actually a good suggestion.
Batman: Do not entertain him!
Aquaman: This probably won’t help you feel better, Batman, but your son untied himself.
Batman sighed in defeat, realizing his son was jumping rope… with the rope he was tied up in. He shrugged, took a long sip from his coffee, and the members of the Justice League erupted into laughter instead of focusing on their serious discussion about world affairs.

In your Spitfire AU, since Zuko is looking after Lu Ten II, what happened to Ursa?
Zuko is slightly older in the Spitfire AU. He was banished at fifteen, his head a little clearer and denial a little weaker than in canon. After his first look through the Air Temples, Zuko decides that if he can't find a myth, he might as well search for the next best thing.
Finding Ursa isn't easy, but in time he makes it to a secluded house in a near-forgotten part of the world. His mom is there, older and stronger and alive.
But she isn't alone.
And Zuko, as it turns out, didn't keep the best company during his search.
When Ursa is discovered and her secrets are laid bare for assassins (for Ozai) to find, she begs Zuko to take his little brother and run. She'll do anything it takes to protect her children, even if that means leaving them behind to keep a target off their back. Ursa diverts attention from them and allows Lu Ten's ancestry to be kept a secret. She orders Zuko not to follow her again, and disappears.
Zuko is left with a little three-year-old brother to raise and a mother he cannot hold onto.
#dema answers#atla#spitfire#Spitfire AU#prince zuko#atla ursa#Lu Ten II#The Ursa/Hakoda parallels are going to be insane in this one I swear#It's okay tho#It's absolutely intentional#(The other option was killing her. But I happen to find family conflict and abandonment issues way more compelling to write)#Luckily Zuko isn't alone. He's a mess of course—and raising the little brother you never knew you had isn't easy.#But he has Uncle and (once those loyal to his father have been taken care of) he also has his crew.#Look three years into the future and you've got a six-year-old Spitfire running around the ship and giving Zuko early gray hair#Ursa will be reunited with them in the future. I just don't know when would that happen yet.#Probably post-war#She returns to her children only to come face to face with their overprotective found family (aka the Gaang)#Their reunion would be quite messy at first but...it'll all be okay#They all love each other deeply. And sometimes love isn't enough. Sometimes there are things that you can't forgive or forget.#But Ursa did everything she did because she loved them. And Zuko knows that. Zuko understands that.#(He was forced to make the same decision in Ba Sing Se—giving yourself up and leaving the people you love behind so that they're safe)#(He understands)#But Lu Ten II doesn't#He doesn't remember Ursa. Not really. He knows of her what Zuko and Uncle tell him. But he doesn't remember ever having a mother.#(Tara is soft and warm and kind to him. She holds him and takes care of him and makes sure he's well-behaved. And he loves her.)#(Is that what makes a mother? Or is it the blood you share?)#Ursa isn't much like Tara. But she loves him dearly—there's a reason he has the name of someone who was so dear to her.#She is Lu Ten's mother. Zuko's mother. Uncle's sister.#And she isn't like Tara. But she loves him even if he can't remember her.#So maybe he can learn to love her back.

Harem AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into one of Bingge’s wives shortly after he returns from the other world. After a brief (and frantic) realization that’s she’s a woman (and always has been, but we’re not getting into that right now), she delves deep into this harem drama she’s been thrust into. It’s not until she comes face to face with Luo Bingge that she realizes just WHICH harem drama she’s living, and immediately sets about making his life as good as she can manage. Oh, harem infighting is causing strain on his containers? Simply nudge Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing into working together to manage the harem. The Northern Desert is hinging on disaster because of clerical neglect? One of her harem sisters has a brother who’s in need of a job, no stress. Luo Binghe’s kids are unruly and there’s no clear successor? She has a college degree and a little sister, teaching a dozen or so demonic children is a breeze! All in the name of giving Luo Binghe the time to find a new wife, of course, one who will disperse with the need for this sprawling harem, and once that happens she’s free to travel and document monsters to her hearts content.

HC I'm thinking, Jay learn to imitate Dick almost to perfection. Except for a few moments when he definitely lost his cool (which the entire population of Gotham agrees was much less scary than when Dick lost his temper) he has it right to the t.
But the thing is that they're fundamentally opposite on their motives:
Dick puts all his anger and pain in to be THE Robin, and then he convinces himself that he is the light that Gorham needs and forces himself into that role.
Being Dick Grayson It's secondary to him, being Bruce's ward is also secondary, the identity that matters is being Robin. He needed Robin, the same way Bruce needs Batman. And they understand each other for that, but also they fought for that, because taking Robin away was like saying he doesn't matter.
So, if Superman and/or WW even help Bruce to babysit for whatever reason, they'll FEAR for the moment a rogue arises because Robin will inevitably join them into the fight. Every activity has to be scheduled at the second and NEVER let him out of sight because something could happen.
But, to be honest, they fear even more if the rouges don't show because that demonic child may as well go seek one by himself. Take care of this chaos embodiment should count as an X-Sport and after each time his respect for Bruce grows a little more because they have super strength and are EXHAUSTED.
Meanwhile Jason, After a necessary period of weariness, Jason was happy to be able to go to school, and learn, and have daily meals, and food, and a dad, and a grandpa, (and a Brother, sometimes), and ALL those books to read and to be able to help people and become the light of Gotham.
He was happy as Robin, but he was more happy to be Jason Wayne. To have a family that somehow cared about him. For him being Jason was first, being Robin was a special extra added to being part of the family. And he LOVES IT.
So having Robin take away from him was like saying that he's no longer part of the family.
But, if Clark and/or Diana ever help Bruce to babysit; they love it. They can take him to their jobs to help (Can read or help Clark to find references and can enjoy the museum asking questions) ¡And he'll stay!!, and yeah, he'll probably try to help to evacuate the buildings around and things like that, but not necessarily as Robin and not necessarily will try to join the fight.
Sometimes he even just hides and watches the fight from a secure distance. Like 70% less heart attacks, 10/10 would recommend.

the whole "is monoco verso's dog?" discourse is ridiculous. first of all, gestrals are based on the fact that verso's dogs seemed to "reincarnate". and secondly, it doesn't take too much to realize that monoco is named after a dog, but he isn't a dog nor behaves like one.

Don't get too attached
#Brakul did a lot of the parenting for Erubi (the first of the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides throuple bastard children) in infancy especially due#to Hibrides going through absolutely horrific post-partum depression (and not wanting to be a parent to begin with. Like she#had accepted it as an inevitability and a duty but when it actually happened it was just like Oh God. I am in hell)#Brakul is the only one of the three that actually Wants to be a parent and the fact that he can't behave as such in order to avoid#suspicion that he's the father is kind of a living nightmare for him a little.#Not like he isn't involved in his ''''nieces''' lives given he lives in the same household but he has to keep a bit of distance.#Janeys and especially Hibrides are pretty unsympathetic about this. For Hibrides it's like she has had to go through so much shit#to maintain this situation she never asked to be a part of and when he has to go through a fraction of that he breaks the fuck down.#He only wants the benefits of the whole situation and isn't willing to deal with the consequences.#This is also one of the very few things she's sympathetic with Janeys about like she respects that he's at least willing to play#his part and be miserable without bitching to her about it. Like she fucking hates him but respects the commitment to the bit.#Janeys is more just like 'Just go make more kids if you want your own so damn bad. Get a wife or something. That's what I#had to do and look at me I'm doing great I'm so normal'#The two kids aren't present on the pilgrimage (back home under the care of a hired tutor) but the Janeys-Brakul-Hibrides#Feeling Triangle are in a fucking tailspin over her being pregnant again like goddddd not this shit again#brakul red dog

I will never shut up about Willow bringing Buffy back to life. It’s such a thoughtless, selfish action and simultaneously done entirely out of love. It’s the worst thing anyone ever does to Buffy, and yet Willow does it because she loves her best friend so much. It’s devotion, and it’s terrible, and neither of them are happy, and it’s all out of love!!! I am never going to be normal about these two!!!
