Just a Little Bit of Your Heart (JALBOYH)
Harry wrote JALBOYH for Ariana Grande, he first performed on his first solo tour. It is about loving someone who is not fully committed to the singer. Harry has performed 89 of its total 99 live performances, starting with this one in September 2017:
youtube
Ariana told J-14 she almost didn't record it because Harry's demo was so good and his was her favourite version:
“I was more intimidated because he recorded a demo for me so I could learn the song. I was like, "I don't know if I wanna touch this song.'
Tumblr media
When was it written
To MTV Ariana said:
He was just visiting the studio and (producers) Savan (Kotecha) and Johan (Carlsson) were like 'Hey do you wanna write a song for Ariana?' and he was like 'Oh sure!'" "He went into the other room and they were writing for a while and I remember when I heard it I was like 'Wow that's a really strong verse, that's really beautiful’
Savan Kotecha and Max Martin produced Ariana’s album, 'My Everything', which was recorded at Conway Studios September 2013 to March 2014. Savan wrote WMYB and was close with Harry.
In another interview Ariana said it was written in Los Angeles when Harry had dates town. (6:50). 1D didn't have L.A. tour dates then. However he was in L.A. 20 February - 18 March 2014. Ariana was at Conway Studios the first week of that:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Max Martin at Conway Studios 15-22 February 2014 sounds familiar, it should. That’s the who, where and when Style, I Know Places and Shake it Off were recorded (with another Johan). Ari and Taylor were at the same studio at the same time. Max Martin worked on both projects and Scott Borchetta managed them both. Taylor also would have played Style for Harry as a courtesy before leaving the studio with Max. Other artists also shared Conway during 1989.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the 2014 timeline, within a fortnight: Harry was spotted backstage at Red, he broke up with Kendall, left Brits after party early to fly straight to LA the next morning, 20 February. Visited Conway Studios where Taylor was recording Shake it Off! Wrote this song. Then on on 25 February 2014 he got the anatomical heart tattoo and incorporated HSA Publishing. As this was his first commercial work outside 1D it was presumably to give Ariana this song. No wonder he has said it is special and his favourite song he gave away.
Tumblr media
(Harry was also in LA 20 January, Ari and Taylor were also in Conway then, it could have been 20 January and I Know Places, I think Feb because of HSA's incorporation)
Harry was there when Ariana recorded it:
Ariana describes Harry’s energy in the studio: “Great! Very funny, very silly, very sweet, very professional, and never too serious. Like I would be singing in the booth and I would cut a vocal, and he would be like, ‘Oh that was terrible, you should try it again,’ but he was like joking. He was very nice, very very sweet guy.”
Taylor saw Ariana perform it at the Grammys. The screens showed Harry’s name. Ariana hugged Taylor after she performed OOTW.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On 25 September 2015 (Interesting date) Ariana performed it with Coldplay, Chris Martin said "This is a song written by the most handsome man in the world, Harry Styles, he couldn't be here so asked we perform it for you". Ariana Tweeted and Coldplay replied "beautiful song", which Harry liked. As publisher he approved that.
When meeting fans in 2017 Ariana also told fans it was about a relationship that wasn’t known and winked when asked if it was about Taylor. Tumblr post from a person there and one with screenshot of it. Thank you @womanexile
Lyrics
I don't ever ask you where you've been And I don't feel the need to Know who you're with I can't even think straight but I can tell That you were just with her
This verse establishes that Harry is writing about someone in an open relationship. The song is about another partner.
This verse is similar to the Taylor's line in:
Style “I say, "I heard, oh / That you've been out and about with some other girl, some other girl" / He says, "What you heard is true, but I / Can't stop thinkin' 'bout you and I" / I said, "I've been there too a few times" and
Tis the Damn Season "If I wanted to know who you were hanging with While I was gone I would have asked you"
And I'll still be a fool, I'm a fool for you
This line is very reminiscent of One Direction's Fool's Gold, which Harry wrote 6 months later. "I've let you use me from the day that we first met / But I'm not done yet / Falling for your fool's gold"
In both JALBOYH and Fool's Gold Harry sees his love is not reciprocated but he is a fool who loves them anyway. Harry was also a fool for love in Sunflower and Boyfriends. More on fool.
ChorusJust a little bit of your heart x2 Just a little bit of your heart is all I want Just a little bit of your heart x2 Just a little bit is all I'm asking for
This chorus is heartbreaking, here he settles for the smallest affection from someone in an open or not committed relationship.
A very similar idea is in Music For a Sushi Restaurant's "If the stars were edible / And our hearts were never full / Could we live with just a taste?"
Songs can be about more than they seem, (an open relationship), I think JALBOYH, Fools Gold and MFASR could all be about someone with different priorities who doesn't want to settle down and commit.
I don't ever tell you how I really feel 'Cause I can't find the words to say what I mean And nothing's ever easy That's what they say I know I'm not your only
Not communicating with his muse is a theme in Harry's work, and something he has said in interviews is that it's easier to say something in song:
MMITH "We don't talk about it / It's something we don't do".
Sign of the Times "We don't talk enough / We should open up / Before it's all too much"
Talk "Don't ask me to talk about / I don't wanna talk at all (hey)"
If I could fly is a nice juxtaposition, also written with Johan Carlson a year later, when he opened up.
Things are not easy, or complicated in Lay Down "Even though it's complicated / We were never meant to make it this time" and Complicated Freak.
But I'll still be a fool 'Cause I'm a fool for you I know I'm not your only But at least I'm one I heard a little love is better than none
In the last verse Harry resigns himself to not being his loves only, or priority but can't let it go.

part 17 / previous installments/tags
Mason’s never watched the draft lottery before, not even the year he was drafted. But this year his heart beats faster with every card flipped. Sixth, Chicago. Fifth, Montreal. Fourth, San Jose. Third, Arizona. Mason paces around the room waiting for the lottery winner, chanting Anaheim, Anaheim, Anaheim in his head.
It’s Columbus.
Mason deflates. It’s so far away. But Anaheim has the second pick. Connor should go first overall. Connor deserves to go first overall. But – and Mason feels like a traitor for thinking it – if anything good can come out of Connor being an omega, maybe it’s him falling in the draft, just one spot. Falling straight to Mason’s team, straight into Mason’s apartment and bed and life.
It feels so right that he almost convinces himself it’s going to happen. On draft night, after Jarmo Kekäläinen announces Adam Fantilli’s name as the first overall pick, Mason sits at the edge of his couch, leg jiggling nervously, waiting for it.
It takes him a moment to register that Pat Verbeek didn’t say Connor’s name. Mason rewinds the broadcast and watches the pick again, just to make sure. It’s Leo Carlsson.
Mason throws the remote at the wall.
He’s not sure what he’s madder about: that Connor fell, or that he didn’t fall to Anaheim. Arizona snaps him up at third overall. Mason watches him hug his family and shed his jacket and walk up to the stage, hungry for any glimpse of Connor's face.
[Mason does not read any post-draft coverage, but Scott Wheeler and Chris Peters both predict Columbus and Anaheim will be sorry they passed on Connor because he’s an omega. Both franchises say they wanted a 1C with size, but everybody knows what they were really thinking. Pronman’s last mock draft predicted the first three picks correctly.]
Mason knows nothing good can come from a FaceTime request from Kent Johnson on the night of Connor’s 18th birthday, but he still picks up. Kent’s in a club, the music loud and the familiar ice buckets and velvet couches of bottle service visible as the phone swings around unsteadily. “Say hi to Mason,” Kent demands, and hooks Connor into the frame with an elbow around his neck.
“Hi?” Connor looks at the screen, puzzled. Mason can’t even tell if Connor knows who he’s talking to. HIs hair is hanging sweatily in his face and his shirt has one button too many unbuttoned. The club lighting casts shadows along his collarbones.
Mason wants to do things to him that would have Parliament holding a whole new set of Hockey Canada hearings.
“Happy birthday,” Mason projects, although he suspects it’s a losing battle over the music in the background.
“Thanks, man.” Something catches Connor’s eye off camera, and he ducks out from under Kent’s arm and disappears from the frame.
Mason glares at Kent so hard it ought to bore holes in the screen of his phone.
Kent snorts at him. “Don’t worry, nobody’s touching your omega. Last guy who tried to grind on him got an elbow in the gut.”
Mason opens his mouth to object, and then shuts it. Connor doesn’t feel like his omega, even if his entire body goes fuzzy with static when he hears Kent say it. Connor feels like a friend Mason played with once, who he kept in touch with for a while and then he faded away. If the thought of Connor still turns his insides upside down, maybe that will stop hurting, eventually. That’s how it has to be, with Connor headed to another team that’s going to hope for a bond with one of their own alphas.

the story of this zine is wonderful! i listened to an interview with one of the founders, Chris Carlsson, on Tech Won't Save Us:
https://techwontsave.us/episode/231_escaping_the_processed_world_w_chris_carlsson
It can feel like we're the first people to say "it's bad that tech is a tool of capitalism" but there's a long history, and also i always love hearing about collective zine projects from the past. Worth a listen. There's also links to more info are writing on the zine, and the full archives of it, at the podcast page.

Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene and the Italian mafia. Based on a true story, Kill the Irishman chronicles Greene’s heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Credits: TheMovieDb. Film Cast: Danny Greene: Ray Stevenson John Nardi: Vincent D’Onofrio Joe Manditski: Val Kilmer Shondor Birns: Christopher Walken Joan Madigan: Linda Cardellini Mikey Mendarolo: Tony Darrow Ray Ferritto: Robert Davi Grace O’Keefe: Fionnula Flanagan Jerry Merke: Bob Gunton Art Sneperger: Jason Butler Harner Keith Ritson: Vinnie Jones Jack Licavoli: Tony Lo Bianco Ellie O’Hara: Laura Ramsey Mike Frato: Steve Schirripa Tony Salerno: Paul Sorvino Leo “Lips” Moceri: Mike Starr William “Billy” McComber: Marcus Thomas Frank Brancato: Vinny Vella Valet: Brian Balzerini Young Danny Greene: Cody Christian Young Billy McComber: Dante Wildern Tony Lupero: Sean O’Reily Vic Centauro: Vincent Rogo Angelini Tommy Sinito: Grant Krause Joe Buka: Jeff Chase Stan Gilroy: Jim Porterfield Undercover Cop: Jeff Wolfe Film Crew: Director: Jonathan Hensleigh Executive Producer: Tara Reid Casting: Mary Vernieu Production Design: Patrizia von Brandenstein Director of Photography: Karl Walter Lindenlaub Editor: Douglas Crise Executive Producer: Arthur M. Sarkissian Visual Effects Supervisor: Chris Ervin Producer: Al Corley Producer: Eugene Musso Unit Production Manager: Bart Rosenblatt Producer: Tommy Reid Casting: Juan Carlos Cantu Screenplay: Jeremy Walters Book: Rick Porrello Executive Producer: Jonathan Dana Costume Design: Melissa Bruning Original Music Composer: Patrick Cassidy Music Supervisor: John Bissell Production Supervisor: Michael D. Jones Art Direction: Gary Baugh Script Supervisor: Dug Rotstein Still Photographer: Kim C. Simms Set Decoration: Joan MacFarlane Production Sound Mixer: Beau Williams Second Assistant Director: Phil Robinson Stunt Double: Cassandra McCormick Movie Reviews: Kenneth Axel Carlsson: This is the story of the irishman, Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson), a corrupt union man, who ended up as sort of a Robin Hood figure of Cleveland. This is the story of how he rose in the ranks, making countless of enemies along the way. This is also the story of how they tried to kill him, but failed. I’ve never heard of Danny Greene, but the movie paints a nice realistic picture of the 1970s. This is not a pleasant world, but one where everyone is trying to get their piece of the cake. Danny himself is a hard one to figure out, is he good, is he bad? The one moment he helps out a friend in need, the next… he is killing people. I kinda like the fact that he is a person with both sides to him, allowing us to make up our own mind about him. Life is never as simple as most movies would like us to think it is. The movie itself is a little messy, and I had expected a bit more from the cast, but of course, this is a movie based on actual events and characters, and of course that means that they can’t change too much. In minor roles we find Val Kilmer and Christopher Walken, both excellent actors that tend to make quirky and interesting characters, but not so much here. Last words… a solid movie that gives us some insight into a man who really lived and breathed. It has some heart, for sure, but ain’t all that interesting when it comes down to it. I probably won’t ever see it a second time, but I definitely survived seeing it once.

Dave Grohl Performs “Play” Live
Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters performed “Play” live for an upcoming concert film. The upcoming release of 'The Benefit Concert Volume 20' by Warren Haynes includes a spectacular highlight: the first-ever--and only to date--performance of Dave Grohl’s 23-minute instrumental epic, "Play," which extends to an extraordinary 36 minutes in its live rendition. This live performance is now available, offering fans the opportunity to witness “Play” being brought to life on that unforgettable evening.   Originally composed and performed entirely by Grohl on every instrument, “Play” is an expansive journey through Grohl's musical prowess and creativity. The video release captures the energy and intensity of “Play” as rendered by Grohl and a veritable murderers row of musical accomplices including Greg Kurstin (keys), guitarists Jason Falkner, Alain Johannes and Barrett Jones, Chris Chaney (bass) and Drew Hester (percussion). The performance's distinctiveness was further elevated by the rhythmic artistry of Abby the Spoon Lady, a prominent Asheville-based busker and advocate for street performance, whose unique spoon-playing skill brought an unexpected and captivating dimension to “Play.” Delivering a blend of visual and auditory artistry, this one and only live version of “Play” is a key highlight of 'The Benefit Concert Volume 20'. The Benefit Concert Volume 20' is a collection of standout performances from Warren Haynes’ 30th Annual Christmas Jam, bringing together a diverse group of artists. The album, as well as the event itself, serve not only as a musical spectacle but also as a philanthropic endeavor, with all proceeds being donated to the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. In addition to Haynes and Grohl, other featured artists on the forthcoming set include Eric Church, Joe Bonamassa, Gov’t Mule, Mike Gordon, Marco Benevento, Jamey Johnson, Edwin McCain, Kevn Kinney, Tyler Ramsey, Scott Murawski, and Ron Holloway, along with Machan Taylor, Mini Carlsson, Mike Barnes, and Ray Sisk sitting in with Gov’t Mule. Recorded on December 7th and 8th, 2018, in Asheville, North Carolina, the concert was not just a musical feat but also a significant charitable event, raising over $2.8 million for the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity.   ‘The Benefit Concert Volume 20’ will be available physically on four different double vinyl volumes (in different colors: purple, orange, blue, red), 2-CD + DVD set, and 3-CD + 2 Blu-ray set, along with a digital-only format. Bundles are also available now to pre-order. Starting in December of 1988, Warren Haynes launched what would become a cherished tradition in his hometown of Asheville, North Carolina. Despite its name, the "Christmas Jam" was less about festive tunes and more about gathering local musicians to celebrate the holidays and give back to the community. Over 30 years later, this humble event transformed into a nationally recognized spectacle, raising over $2.8 million for Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and the construction of over 50 homes in the region. Reflecting on its growth, Haynes notes, “As an Ashevillean, it's heartening to see the progress Asheville has witnessed over these three decades. In many ways, Christmas Jam mirrors this city's vibrant spirit."   ‘The Benefit Concert Volume 20’ stands out not only as a testament to three decades of musical celebrations, but also the enduring spirit of Christmas Jams. Throughout the years, it's the impromptu collaborations (often times between artists and musicians meeting backstage or on stage), the unwavering commitment of all participants, and the unity in music that truly define this legacy.   “Although Christmas Jam, the main event, is traditionally a one-night event, there have been three occasions where we felt the need to make it two nights — the 20th, 25th, and 30th Anniversaries, each of which featured extraordinary line-ups,” Haynes adds. “The performances being represented in this package are culled from the 30th Anniversary in 2018, which was in itself… https://chorus.fm/news/dave-grohl-performs-play-live/

“I Fell In Love With The Devil”: relembre o single de Avril Lavigne lançado há 4 anos do álbum “Head Above Water
Tumblr media

NHL Expansion Draft 2021: Full list of players available for Seattle Kraken
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The NHL announced the protected lists for the 30 teams involved in the NHL Expansion Draft. (Vegas is exempt.) With the names of those protected come the guys who could be snatched up by the Seattle Kraken. There are a number of big names that have everyone trying to figure out just what general manager Ron Francis will do. Will he take Canadiens netminder, and future Hall of Famer, Carey Price and his hefty cap hit? Is Vladimir Tarasenko the sniper he needs or is his health a big question mark? There's also a number of guys who would fit in nicely but are free agents and the chances of signing them are not high (i.e. Alex Ovechkin).  EXPANSION DRAFT: Date, time, rules & more for Seattle Kraken team selectionRegardless of what Francis, coach Dave Hakstrol and Co. end up doing, there's a good chance the Kraken will be a playoff contender in just their first season. For now, let the intrigue and the guessing WWRFD (that's: what will Ron Francis do?) begin. Here's a look at every player they can pick.
