So today is “Record Store Day” and some bands who participated on this day April 12 2025 released to the public limited edition albums. For instance Jet released “Rarities” I went to Ameoba Records in San Francisco 1 hour before the store opened (cuz they said on their website it’ll be here) but I still had no luck the store did not have it. But magically they were available for double the price online hahaha. I see what they did there! Anyway I bought two of em.

Those musicians who succeeded surprisingly during the noughts somehow felt a bit familiar soundwise at times. I mean, we could accuse some of doing a lot of fan fiction. For instance, Jet's tune on th elink sounds like a big budget remake of what The Kinks did a lot better during the late 60's. While they are not the only ones who should answer for having this modus operandi – the compilations of the noughts contain a multitude of hits that reminds us of other songs –, you do sort of understand this somehow. They intend to evoke their idols, which is noble, but they could do without them playing their notes to affirm themselves. The latter might describe one of the problems with the noughts, though let us leave this subject for another time.

What I say: I'm fine

What I mean: Most people only know Jet, the Australian rock band, because of their single "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" and some people don't even know that Jet did that song, but they really should get into their entire discography because all three Jet albums are amazing. Are You Gonna Be My Girl isn't even their best song, seriously, just listen to "Hold On" from the soundtrack of 2004's Spider-Man 2. Plus, the entirety of Shaka Rock, because every single track on that album is solid gold, beautiful music
