[image description: a tweet by Chris Palmieri @ cpalmieri dated 30 Sep 2017. “This is how you design with graceful degradation: Muji’s flashlight works whether you have one or four batteries, double or triple A.” The attached image shows the flashlight battery casing, which can hold two double A and two triple A batteries, and four representations of the light produced with different battery configurations. The light is strong and saturated when all four batteries are in place, and dims but remains functional as long as at least one battery is in place. end I.D.]

Sun Ra Arkestra - Living Sky - the new album is out TODAY on Omni Sound
For more than two decades, the disciple that has most visibly carried on Sun Ra Arkestra’s legacy and sound is their musical director, alto saxophonist Marshall Allen, the iconic fire breather and life force that restored the Arkestra’s vitality in the massive vacuum left by Ra and John Gilmore’s death in the ‘90s. Allen turned 98 in 2022 and, as evidenced by Living Sky, his influence and leadership remain undiminished. Marking the Arkestra’s first new recording since their 2021 Grammy-nominated album Swirling, Living Sky was recorded on June 15, 2021 at Rittenhouse SoundWorks in Philadelphia and features a total of nineteen musicians, including a strings section. It was mixed and mastered by three-time Grammy winner Dave Darlington (Eddie Palmieri, Brian Lynch, Wayne Shorter). No but the number of people calling for Will's arrest and passing off what Chris said as being just a joke on twitter is infuriating. Like, if some dude made fun of me or my partner for a medical condition, why shouldn't one of us defend the other? I'm not saying I advocate for violence, but come on. Chris Rock was clearly in the wrong here.
Honestly, it reminded me of how TJ Ducklo, the former deputy Biden White House press secretary, had to resign because he snapped at a Politico reporter, Tara Palmieri, for repeatedly harassing him about his girlfriend, Alexi McCammond, and asking invasive personal questions. Obviously, Ducklo didn't hit Palmieri, and I don't think Will should have publicly clocked Chris, but Ducklo got incensed at Palmieri to the extent he had to resign from his role.
And, in the Ducklo/Palmieri case, there was also the element that Palmieri, a white woman, was romantically interested in Ducklo, a white man, and McCammond is Black so it absolutely felt like a "This white man I feel entitled to picked a Black woman over me, I'm allowed to fuck with their relationship because she isn't good enough for him."
That incident was my introduction into "the media likes Republicans and wants them to win" like there is zero reason that a journalist should be repeatedly harassing a White House staffer about their personal life, like she just looked bitter and jealous. And for the record, I'd be proud if my boyfriend defended me like that, and grateful he had my back when I wasn't there!
But yeah, wrt the Will Smith/Chris Rock thing, Chris shouldn't have insulted Jada about her alopecia, and I heard this wasn't even the first time either like apparently he'd repeatedly made "jokes" before. Say what you will about Will and Jada but despite their public struggles with their marriage, they seem solid, and if it works for them, it works for them, and it's none of our business.

With the names of those protected come the guys who could be snatched up by the Seattle Kraken. There are a number of big names that have everyone trying to figure out just what general manager Ron Francis will do. Will he take Canadiens netminder, and future Hall of Famer, Carey Price and his hefty cap hit? Is Vladimir Tarasenko the sniper he needs or is his health a big question mark? And The Nominees Are… (Part 2/2)
#younghowzetheatreawards
By Ricky and Dana Young-Howze
Mays Landing, NJ
Venmo: @rndyounghowze
The nominations for the first ever Young-Howze Theatre Awards are finally here! We have been working hard since March of 2020 reviewing over a hundred and forty digital productions. We have been poring over them all since January to bring you these categories and the shows vying for them.
Let’s remind everyone what our criteria were: Because of the pandemic this year every show that we have reviewed was nominated for at least one category. We picked winners by a very specific set of criteria: What was this show attempting to do? Was it successful? Was it the most successful of all the shows that tried to do this? We apologize to anyone who thought that we would be announcing winners today. We decided that we wanted to save all of the spoilers for the live show on February 21st at 8PM EST. Please remember that even if you only get one nomination it is because we wanted to honor everyone who worked hard this year (every theatre artist who did a show this year deserves a medal). However we understand that specific nominations are useful for theatre creators in their resumes, grant applications etc.
All Nominees should receive a nomination email from us. If you haven’t gotten an email by Monday 11:59pm PST email is at [email protected]
Congratulations everyone! We are so proud of your accomplishments and amazing work. We’ve already seen shows this year that are award worthy. You all exceeded our expectations. Without further ado...

Okay so I’m not going to bother with the 2017 and 2018 drafts mainly because they were so recent it’s hard to know who is going to be a regret because honestly a lot of them aren’t even playing NHL level yet. I will say though that 2017 we could have drafted Elias Pettersson but we chose Miro Heiskanen instead, which honestly I don’t see as a regret I think it was a good choice but I thought it was something to mention
