Screaming crying throwing up. Bastardous thing finally fucking works.
This noodle dragon puppet model is absolutely uncompromisingly merciless to rig. I can now see that yeah, I still have that physbones roughness problem, and it's perceptible on bullshit longer avatars. HOWEVER.
I'm moving normally and seem the right length. I can have the script do the math for it, too.
Tumblr media
Putting a snip so I don't forget. This transform, Parent Constraint to BEND, needs to have radial math done to it, such that, for radius "distance from Hips to hind.hips," you rotate this transform up circlewise (maintaining that radius to Hips) until the slope of the line between this transform and Hips "looks parallel to the angle of [long confusing description of your hind body's upper back, that is, the front half of its hind torso, from between its shoulderblades through its ribcage]." THEN the apparent length compensation squashstretch system just fucking works. I eyeballed this one so it's probably not perfect, but the math will be. Users can no longer test this aspect in Play mode and are going to have to do some fucking napkin math, I guess? Gods.
Anyway, flipover like this is the most shockingly difficult sort of motion for the rig to mimic, and the wearer will be distracted by sitting down or rolling around on the floor with bulky trackers or whatever. This will look stupid already, and serve as camouflage for the remaining shortcomings.

It's Not $\Pi$ day
I've not had enough time to do maths properly for the past... well, quite a long while, actually, but in particular I got myself a REAL JOB in INDUSTRY, in fact as a welder, which takes up twelve or thirteen hours most days (ten of them are spent Working)... Anyways, I'd Like To Let the Tau Fans Know Something about Circles in Industry.
Nobody measures the radius of an Industrial Circle. Never. Radii are not a Thing. It's Diameters, if possible, that we measure, and if a circle is Unfinished, we compare it with a template. At least, most of the time. I imagine a Machinist working at a Lathe may well consider truly radial measurements, but we don't have any genuine lathes in our plant, and that's Just Fine.
And the Reason that no-one measures the Radius of an Industrial Circle is because it's basically impossible. You see, to measure the radius, you have to locate the center. This is, of course, doable in principle, but pretty much a waste of time, because the center is located at the intersection of DIAMETERS. And if you have a diameter, you may as well measure THAT.
Some Caveats: the principal method of producing one of our Industrial Circles is by rolling (that is, incrementally locally bending) some material beyond its elastic/plastic transition. Sometimes it's feasible to do this end-to-end and then check: have I closed a circle? sometimes this is not feasible, and instead the ends of the material to be bent circlewise must be first matched to a template. But there are other ways --- with a lathe, for instance, one may cut both external and internal circles. One will have a decent estimate of the radial location of the cutter, but you'll still measure a diameter. But SOMETIMES, particularly in preparing the templates we have mentioned (sometimes to cut out holes to admit other industrial circles passage), we will draw a circle using a compass, and then cut along the lign. This is the ONLY case in which the radius is more easily known than the diameter, and it's when we LEAST care about the circumference produced. For the compassed circles we most use, the center is promptly thrown away, because it would make the template too large and unwieldy.
That is all, you may now return to your what-have-you.

THE QUATRAINS OF OMAR KHAYYAM
323.
In these twin compasses, O Love, you
see
One body with two heads, like you
and me,
Which wander round one centre,
circlewise.
But at the last in one same point
agree.
I understand why Omar Khayyam is Thomas' favourite poet.

Weekly Log (week 12 |  12 April)
Motion move in a physical way I meet difficult on the motion Tommy shake its head, the displacement of the head easily happen. And I found a reference on dogs shaking their head, and realize that the shaking motion is always moving circlewise. Therefore, I draw a circle for supporting and the motion of shaking head become very smooth.
Changing on the title part During production, there are 2 problems which bother us for a long period:
Tumblr media
Our group has been confused with the Title scene since the beginning of the production. As we cannot decide the best way and time to show the title in the animation.
Besides, we are also confused on how to show the audience that Tommy is part of Pinky. The transition and content are not confirmed.
We discuss with a draft flowing shows on Animatic, but we found it was not perfect. But finally, we have confirmed with the flowing and solve the above problem this week. By deleting some shot and changing the motion of Tommy, it has become the transition from scene 1 to 2, the flowing also connect smoothly. Besides, since there is nothing on the frame after Tommy jumps up, therefore the title can show directly after this shot. We feel lucky that everything matches together and it looks smooth!  (Below is the new version)
