So I recently started watching Sonic Boom & oh boy, that Knuckles kinda hurts... After finishing Sonic X & unexpectedly ending up with this tough echidna as my fav, I came up with an excuse & idea to draw him back to his glory (hopefully?)! Might be just some details but I came with the changes inspired not only by my own headcanons but some of his previous designs.... Hope you like him nonetheless!

Headcanons - Halloween with Dracula's Daughter

Inspired by @froggywritesstuff's Teddy Lobo Halloween headcanon post because I'm a Teddy/Marya shipper and decided the post is just incomplete without the other half of my OTP's complementary response. The reader in question will be gender neutral and up to interpretation, and my personal interpretation is a certain crackhead Lobo ofc. XD

I might add more headcanons later, just wanna get the basics done with during that time of the night

Fandom: Dracula's Daughter (1936)

Character: Marya Zaleska

Scenario: She spends Halloween night with you

Content warning: Not much other than mentions of blood bag drinking, physical fights and harming of humans in horror movies

Word count: Idk. Still an amature fanfic writer and learning as I go XD

Marya has mixed feelings about Halloween

On one side of the coin, she loves the concept of human mortals and monsters being in peace with each other and spending time as friends instead of engaging in wars with each other

Her favorite aspect of Halloween is trick-or-treating, where she gets say hello to the children and hand out candy

As a matter of fact, one of the traditions she and the fellow monsters like to participate in when she doesn't have tasks to do that relates to Castle Dracula is door-to-door treat giving. Depending on the season the fruits and vegetables grow in, monsters would go scavenging for those valuable edibles, find and collect honey, glaze carved bites in honey, harden them, collect them in a bowl carved melon or pumpkin and deliver them to a neighbor. Oftentimes before handing out the candied fruit, the neighbor would get a good scare before having a good laugh over the scare

Monsters essentially has been trick-or-treating before it became popular among mortals, usually as a way of maintaining virtuous traits such as kindness, generosity, hospitality and humor in spite of their monstrous appearance

But on the other side, Marya doesn't like how it seems that mortals are appreciating monsters, but all for the wrong reasons: By portraying them as demonized caricatures and using them as mere entertainment

She essentially views it as her kind’s equivalent of cultural appropriation

She also wonders why human mortals have to wait for one day of the year to spend good times with those different than them when they can try doing it any time and day

As a vampire, Marya wonders if her appearance and outfit is good enough to be considered an outfit to go out in. She only hopes that human mortals who pass by her assume she's merely in convincing makeup, not anything more than that

Being unable to see her own reflection on mirrors, Marya appreciates having you to do her hair and makeup

She can do her own claws though

Before going out to do anything, she makes sure she has a good big drink of a blood bag to avoid any potential thirst incidents later on

She would prefer the night to be a happy and peaceful one, but if you were to get into a fight and get a black eye or bloody nose in an interesting way to impress her or in response to anyone having any negative to say about her outfit, her vampirist instincts would kick in and she will get her sharp claws out and hiss the hell out of anyone who dares harm her loved one

Marya is good at decorating by crafting natural resources such as twigs, leaves, carved pumpkins, spider webs and skeleton bones

Another part of monster culture is foraging for edibles such as turnips, melons and pumpkins, decorating and/or carving faces, sucking it's flesh and seeds out, and trapping a fire wisp into it to light the inside like a lantern

How monsters prepare food in general is similar to how warrior cats do it (At least according to Bonefall)

Marya takes advantage of the night to show you how it's done

For her kind, most monsters carve and light jack-o-lanterns with a purpose of a warm light source that doesn't burn their flesh into crisp unlike the direct sun and to scare off potential threats, scaring them with the idea that jack-o-lanterns craved by monsters have concealed evil spirits that could unleash and haunt those who trespass their turfs with a purpose of killing them

She doesn't really mind where are you take her to, she'll even agree to go to a party to meet up with new people

After a while however, she remembers she has sensitive hearing and loud, crowded parties gets a little too much for her and she wants to go somewhere more remote and quieter

Scary movies mostly confuse Marya, particularly because she doesn't understand why human mortals derive pleasure out of making entertainment of their kind getting their limbs torn apart by bigger and stronger monsters

What Marya is ultimately interested in spending Halloween night is patrolling around the city, knowing that any monsters lurking nearby the human area could take advantage of a holiday centering around them and actually inflict harm on the weaker, innocent ones

The long night ends with Marya requiring cuddling, lovemaking and playing with long hair (she's been so utterly touch starved for decades so ofc she would)

Ok, weird take. I swear the more stoned I get sometimes, the more queer I feel. Like I wonder if that's because my inner walls are more down so I can be more honest with myself? It confuses me on what feelings are real or not. Anybody else ever feel that way?

Cruel - Aware - Honest - Lenient

Cruel vs. Reverent

Mydei’s cruelty sometimes comes in the form of verbal threats candidly describing what he has planned for you if you don’t acquiesce to his demands. These menacing remarks are clear, concise, and typically quite graphic— often he’ll threaten to fracture your ribs in the composed, casual manner he uses to comment on anything else. Many times, these threats will also accompany a smirk that doesn’t try to hide his exhilaration at the thought of pushing your limits.

That isn’t to say that he isn’t all bark and no bite… Mydei tends to enact physical affliction unexpectedly, without any sort of warning. He revels in your startled movements as he wills scarlet crystals to poke their keen vertices out of the ground, watching you skittishly flinch away just for another to take shape barely centimeters in front of you. He doesn’t particularly like letting the crystals impale you— a jolt or so is reasonable—  but Mydei prefers to do anything more severe with his own two hands. His touch isn’t much worse; his gauntlets feel just as solid against your skin as the crystallized blood you’re subject to on a regular basis.

Unlike the jagged gems, however, Mydei himself is far more rough with you, sadistically poking and prodding your pleading, shaking body. You can’t do much more than beg him to have mercy, to stop, and promise that you won’t make the same mistake twice. Whether or not you learn from situations like this doesn’t matter— whenever Mydei puts his hands on you, it’s not only punishment— you become a rather fine source of entertainment.

Aware vs. Delusional

Mydei doesn’t pay much attention to your own love for him— that isn’t what he wants out of you in this relationship. He also happens to be someone who harbors feelings of hatred deep within himself, and he can’t blame you for doing the same. Nevertheless, Mydei will tear down any sort of defiance on the surface level that you direct at him— that sort of behavior can be quite inconvenient and untoward to deal with. What really matters to him is your ability to follow orders and your willingness to obey.

Not unlike a lot of other people, you’re quite terrified of Mydei. This is something he not only knows, but uses against you. But he doesn’t only rely on intimidation, he’s also prone to enjoying the threats he gives you in order to force you to submit. You always do. That’s Mydei’s favorite part of your personality, or so he claims. The way you never defy him in the end might make him less of a lover and more of a predator— which he indifferently accepts. Mydei is all but used to hatred and strife anyways.

Manipulative vs. Honest

Mydei approaches you head-on, with no hesitation whatsoever. When you first catch his eye, he decides you'll be a pretty thing to keep around-- and he wants to have you. Your willingness to cooperate with Mydei is won over as a result of his adroitness, which you know better as his ability to humiliate you. He isn’t afraid to threaten you in public, and when he does, you never turn down his demands in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. When Mydei does win you over, he makes sure to treat you accordingly, like the good little trophy you ought to be.

Regardless of the torment his behavior causes you, Mydei isn’t guilty in the slightest about what he does to you. Verbally, he isn’t quite upfront with you about it, but Mydei’s actions speak louder than his words. He was born to rule a city-state that glorified battle and bloodshed, which is what led him to brutally murder the former king of Castrum Kremnos. Mydei doesn’t justify the way he treats you, unlike the case in which he killed his father— but he doesn’t need a reason to. His hands have already been stained with so much blood, both literal and figurative, so what’s one more instance of the suffering of another that he causes?

Ultimately, Mydei feels utterly indifferent towards your happiness, though he does tend to take a great amount of pride when your suffering is caused by his own hands. When he’s done with you, he’ll admires the wounds and welts that decorate your pretty skin, knowing that your every imperfection is the product of his handiwork.

Strict vs. Lenient

Though Mydei gives you some semblance of freedom while he’s away, you know that there’s so much more on the line if you do anything that might ignite the spark of his fury’s flames. And although Mydei is easily annoyed, there isn’t a lot you can do to truly anger him.

For the most part, he doesn’t have a problem with leaving you to your own devices. You aren’t plucked apart from your own life when Mydei decides he’s going to make you his; he inconveniently inserts himself into yours instead. In the early stages of your abruptly-begun ‘relationship’ with him, he’s around you as much as possible, which is quite often for someone who spends so much time on the battlefield. Even so, in many cases you don’t exactly see Mydei, but he’s sure to constantly make his presence known. It’s almost like you can almost feel him near you, though you can’t quite place exactly where.

Soon enough, he has to go to war again. You almost feel a sense of relief knowing that you really all alone now— assuming you are, of course. However, it’s not as if you’re completely let off the hook during Mydei’s campaigns, which can span up to several months at a time. He’ll find time to visit you more than a few times, much to your disappointed surprise. Mydei’s sporadic visits do not only serve as a method to keep you in check. They’re also for his benefit; brashly fucking you helps him release some of his pent-up anger. If you happen to be out and about when Mydei returns, he’ll find you regardless— you’re never able to get far. And when he does find you and return to his residence with you in tow, you always know to expect much worse.

Can we just appreciate how for all of his loud ego and obnoxiousness, Teddy at least cares for his family enough to not abandon them for Dracula?

Teddy: Hey, at least I didn't come home one day and tell mom and Mandy "Sorry girls, but ya Teddy daddy has to go bye-bye to simp for Nick Cage for a century until I interact with the rest of society again and realize "Oh gee, maybe Nick Cage isn't exactly the best person to simp for after all""! At least my family gets to be part of the bloody fun! That's what I meant when I say I'm the yin to your yang!
