idk if this is helpful but if I was u I’d probably look up a bunch of syllabi for lit classes that cover topics/periods/movements ur interested in and read those books while taking notes. the intimidating thing abt literary studies is that it never ends so anything u can add to ur knowledge base is helpful + it’s smthing productive to do while waiting for ur program to start

this year i've been reading a lot of books written by professors in my program + recommended by profs i've met in the bookstore but tbh looking up syllabi is a good idea too thanks!

hello cluelesscher! honestly exploring used bookstores and also sometimes I’ll see snippets on tumblr that make me curious :) a lot of my tags like “fav words”, “on grief”, “on living” or “💌” usually have quotes I really like

I’m really not sure if I have a specific way of finding books I’m usually drawn to covers (yes I judge a book by it’s cover 😔) and I usually think to myself “hm is this gonna change my life if I read it” LOL hope that helps !

okay questions:

when was the last time you cried?  oof. listen,,, you can't come at me out the gate like this.  i don't cry very often and it might have been years since the last time.  it's not something i'm proud of and i have tried to like meditate and stuff when i'm in a down mood to try and get myself to cry and have that physical release.  it doesn't really work.  i did dice two white onions last week so i cried then

do you have kids?  no!  and i don't have any kids in my life right now either.  kind of missing it.  i need a toddler

do you use sarcasm a lot?  yup.  but when i'm not doing vocal inflection on purpose i have a very flat affect so sarcasm doesn't always come across correctly, or genuine statements come out as sarcastic and then i have to clarify

what sports do you play?  i was on the swim team for ages in high school.  it's still my favorite way to exercise but it is a little time-consuming… i guess not any more than going to the gym and showering after, though?

what's the first thing you notice about people?  personal style; if someone's wearing something unusual i Will observe and will usually comment on it

what's your eye color?  brown

scary movies or happy endings?  happy endings.  i Dont like scary movies and i avoid them most of the time.

any special talents?  there's nothing i'm excellent at but i'm better than average at a handful of things.  i'm a jack-of-all-trades and i'm kind of getting comfortable with that…i am weirdly good at debates though, i once persuaded a white supremacist that ethnicity is designed by (the christian) god (this was a multi-stage intervention and i can't take 100% credit but i did a good amount of the heavy lifting)

what are your hobbies?  languages (spanish french korean japanese), reading, singing, ukulele, keys

do you have pets?  i'm a cat aunt <3  tiki my love

how tall are you?  5'7" in the morning

favorite subject in school?  honestly, i loved school.  i liked the whole thing.  but math was my favorite subject, along with physics, spanish, english when i had a good teacher, and history

dream job?  i don't dream of labor – in my heart of hearts want to be a traveloguer or a tom scott or some bullshit that lets me get on a plane.  i just wanna go somewhere man

One sided i guess,

So this is my love story, i don’t know if there is love or what is love… but what matters is that i liked him and i guessed he too but just not enough

So everyone who has been in my shoes will understand what a labyrinth i am stuck in… like my god as if i don’t have enough stress and acne.

Basically to wrap up my situation he likes this another girl…cute childhood love story which i would have adored if i didn’t like him…. And he is waiting for her but, there is something with me too i mean you wouldn’t kiss if there wasn’t….don’t know about you but he wont i hope… well, its not just that there is other things like asking if i ate, getting jelly (did i just say jelly) of other guys i talk, hugs, good morning and good nights and all of it.

But she will always be his first priority and preference which is the reality and i have accepted it.

But i swear i love this Romeo.
