We tried to do something a little different with the prompts this year and grouped them in ways we thought might be fun to blend together. About half of the prompts are new, and half are reused from last year based on discussion with my lovely collection mods!

Spencer Reid is a bat Good Mom!Talia Editon One-shot

Spencer Reid has been an enigma for as long as Derek had known him.

Eidetic memory, never wore matching socks, love for statistics and math, and a special interest in languages, etc. Reid was one of his closest friends in the bau for years now, but he'd never have guessed how hot his mom was.

Spencer was having a terrible day. Firstly, he forgot his lunch, missed his stop, had to wait for the next, and then almost ran to work, and when he finally made it, the coffee machine was broken. The only thing that was going to save it was the fact his mom was coming into town for a mission and wanting to meet up after work.

"You're late, pretty boy!" Morgan laughed at him. He attempted to ruffle his hair, but he dodged it, knocking himself against his desk. That would leave a bruise. At least his family wasn't here, Dami would tell him he was embarrassing the family name despite the fact he didn't even have the family name.

"Fuck..." he grumbled clutching his leg and limped behind his desk to collapse into his chair.

"Definitely not my day." He complained.

"Come on, boy genius! At least we dont have a case!" Penelope exclaimed.

"Pleaee for the love of God dont jinx us." Prentiss begged, lining up her paperwork on her desk.

"Bad day, Spencer?" She queried amused." Don't even get me started." He complained, throwing his arms back.

She snickered at him but returned to her own work. Garcia continued past to her own office after stealing her pen he borrowed yesterday, and Morgan simply smirked and sat back down.

The day continued with occasional questions or jokes. Some of the paperwork had begun to stack, and they were taking the day to complete it, but the rhythm of paperwork was drolling.

Penelope had made a deliciously delightful and creamy pasta dish for dinner last night and taken the leftovers to split with her chocolate thunder. Derek and her were currently on their way to the closest microwave when they saw her.

Her being an incredibly good-looking older woman of possible Middle Eastern descent approached them.

"You two look like you know your way around the building, care to show me the way to the cafeteria?" She spoke with a calm and fluid voice with slight humor in it and an Arabic accent. The kind of voice, the words, that just roll together, and you just know they sing heavenly. Her eyes were sharp and intelligent, and it raised a slightly uneasy feeling in her stomach.

She was dressed simply but richly. The kind of clothes she could only dream to buy and never pull off.

"I don't know who's asking?" Derek attempted to flirt.

"I don't appreciate my time being wasted by shameless dogs like you. I'm already spoken for, and even if i wasn't, i certaintly wouldn't waste my time with you." She spoke harshly, shoving past between them barely avoiding bumping shoulders.

"Good lordy, what her problem?" She attempted to joke, trying to pick up her slack jaw.

"I don't know, but i don't like it." Derek warned in that sexy and mysterious voice of his.

Derek turned around and trailed behind that woman's expensive pencil skirt. She unfortunately realized that she wasn't going to be able to heat up her pasta and would have to eat it cold again. She lamented for a second, then followed him past the few people milling about.

Derek had been in the fbi, police, and marines way too long to not be suspicious of a woman like that. He's seen plenty of men underestimate pretty women and miss the sharp keen eyes and get stabbed by their sharp keen knives, and he wasn't going to let that happen to any of his friends. Mostly Reid and Baby girl, the others don't need his help all that much.

She was walking fast, suddenly with a mission, and Derek somehow lost her in the lunch crowd. Eventually, he realized he couldn't see her and was getting nowhere, so they made the decision to head back to the bullpen she was probably long gone anyway.

By the time they made their way back after they found a microwave , they had all but forgotten about the mysterious woman until they saw her perched on Spencer's desk stealing his food.

Henquicku catologed the others in room watching in the room. Rossi and Emily were shamelessly watching a few desks away while Hotch and JJ were near his office on the railing, both pretending not to notice.

"What's going on?"He whispered to them. "That is apparently a woman close enough with Spencer to go to his apartment while he's gone and notice his lunch is on the counter so she made him homemade to replace it and brought it to his work." Rossi stated without looking away.

The woman was smiling lovingly at Spencer, and sharing a large dish of some Middle Eastern dish, he'd butcher the name of.

They continued shamelessly staring, but the woman would occasionally look st, then from the corner of her eyes. Spencer was laughing with her and smiling wider than he's seen him smile in years.

" I can't do this anymore. I'm asking them." Emily suddenly announced stsndingnuo and taking the room in great strides.

" Wait, Prentiss-" both he and Rossi tried in vain to stop her and were outmatched by Garcia folding shirts after her much slower.

"Hi, SSA of the BAU Emily Prentiss." She introduced herself with a kind smile and an outstretched hand.

"It took you all long enough to end your blatant eavesdropping." She spoke harshly, staring at the hand as if it had personally offended her.

"Talia, please not now." Spencer hissed at her, his voice scandalized.

"But habbibi-," the newly dubbed Talia tried defensively, attempting to explain himself.

Habbibi? Wasn't that some kind of Arabic word for love or something like it. He really wasn't as languidly gifted as the others.

"These are my friends and coworkers. Please play nice for my sake." Spencer pleaded. He could see Hotch and JJ finally making their way to them from the corner of his eye.

He turned to look questionably to look at Rossi but only got a shrug and a grimace all in one.

"Talia, pleased to make your acquaintance." She spoke as if her words poked at her own being.

" I'm-" He attempted.

"I already know who you all are, kalb." She spoke disdaned.

" Mom!" Spencer shouted suddenly incredibly offended.

"Mom...?" He heard Garcia mutter under bresth. You and me both baby girl.

" Reid, who is this?" Hotch questioned.

" Why I'm his mother. Don't you see the resemblance?" She spoke smoothly, her chin coming to rest on her hand. Her crossed legs and one hand on her lap while the other rested on her leg holding her head up directly contrasting Spencer's scandalized face, but the way he was now leaning backward arms crossed staring her down started to seem a little familiar.

While their mannerism were similar, their everything else was different. Spencer face shared no Middle Eastern features, and with light curly brown hair and chocolate eyes, her straight dark brown hair, and almost glowing emerald eyes, they were far from having any family resemblance.

"I thought your mother was Diana Reid?" Garcia asked hesitantly.

"Well, genetically speaking, yes." He answered, cringing st his own words.

"And legally." Hotch spoke deeply.

"Well, my beloved never cared much about laws anyway." She waved it off, disinterested.

"Mom! We are in a federal building!"

" What? You know he kidnapped Jason off the streets. That's far from the worst law he's broken anyway." She continued.

"He was later legally adopted. I never was." He spoke, his voice wavered slightly.

"Oh, habbibi, he would adopt you the second you asked. He keeps all the papers up to date in his office." She comforted.

" I... Um Hotch?-" His eyes were becoming suspiciously damp.

" Take the rest of the day, Reid." Hotch spoke simply before turning bakc to his office talimg Rossi with him. What a softie.

And as he watched Spencer and his mom walk out, he couldn't help but think more on the enigma of Spencer Reid.

A/n I loved writing Penelope and tried to bleed her cooky personality into her pov. The reason why Talia is a little bit more harsh is because she knows they weren't really there for her son when he was struggling with like Hankle and the other stuff so I wanted to make her have a bit of a grudge against them.

Since apparently this whole week will be me changing the style to experimentail, this one is a cross between meta, 3-4 sentence fic, and pick your own adventure.

All-division testing day

The all-division FBI testing day happens roughly every two years and involves all divisions being tested simultaneously and against each other, much different compared to more frequent in-division testing days, where it is one or two divisions at the same time. Now, normally, this would be the fun day everyone is waiting for, but for the two Bats undercover in their teams, it is nervewracking. Not only do they have to show appropriate skill level while hiding their true, much more advanced skills, but also they have to do it while another bat is watching - batspar in middle of FBI precint is unthinkable, and the odds are small enough that they won't have to fight one another, right? Right???

Choose your BAU undercover agent:

Tim Drake as Spencer Reid: go to options starting with A

Dick Grayson: options B

Damian Wayne: options C

Choose your White Collar agent, undercover as Neal Caffrey:

Dick Grayson: suboption 1

Jason Todd: 2

Tim Drake: 3

Damian Wayne: 4

Options A1, B2, B3, B4, and C1 are actually likely to maintain their covers successfully. Good job.

Option A1/B3:

Spar proceeds mostly normally. FBI are impressed by how decent their agents/CIs are. There is a bit of confusion due to following exchange afterwards: "Good job Baby bird!" "Thanks dick ... for brains!" What kind of nicknames are those?

Option B2:

Spar proceeds mostly normally, though there is some more viciousness than expected, maybe they had to deal with each other in the past as cop/criminal? Suddenly Spencer!Dick exclaims: "Careful there Little Wing!" and is met with uncharacteristically rude answer from Neal: "Fuck off, Dickhead!" What kind of nicknames are those even?

Option B4/C1:

Spar proceeds mostly normally, it is most like true spar instead of a fight. FBI are impressed by how good their agents/CIs are. There is a bit of confusion due to following exchange afterwards: "Nicely done Baby bat!" "Tt. You went easy on me, Ri... dick". Baby bat? Riddick? What kind of nicknames are those even?

Now to more dramatic options:

Option A2:

Neal!Jason: Oh no.

Peter: It will be okay Neal.

Spencer!Tim, knowing that Jason can't fight at anywhere near his real level: at first opportunity when Jason is falling next to him due to very effective bodyslam followed by a series of 'accidentally' extremely brutal takedowns and broken nose, with extreme menance: "This is for the Titans Tower".

It is not "okay".

Option A4:

Neal!Damian: I will not be bested by this weakling!

Spencer!Tim, through his teeth: We need to maintain plausible deniability.

The only reason why the FBI doesn't look like a slaughterhouse after that fight is that weapons were not allowed. The covers are holding by a thread, Tim at least has some explanation in form of childhood bootcamp, but Damian the nonviolent conman is in deep trouble; as is Peter Burke, who somehow didn't notice for nearly two years that his CI is extremely violent when pushed.

Option C2:

Some LoA techniques are used. Everyone is fine, the spar went well, their bruises barely have any bruises and no bones are broken. What do you mean we need to answer a series of uncomfortable questions about our skillets, i didn't see anything violent at all?!

Option C3: basically option A4, except for excuses in aftermath.

Spencer!Damian has to explain a bit about his childhood in murder cult. BAU is a bit frustrated they hadn't connected the dots themselves, but are nice and understanding. Neal!Tim manages Peter Burke's questioning much better than Neal!Damian would and nearly manages to make everyone forget what they saw. Nearly.

Chapter 6: as though you never existed in the first place

Turning to face Duke more fully, Jason asked, “Hold on, is this about you being a meta?” Duke’s hands fell to his sides, swinging once, twice, before stopping stiff against his hips. “Man, I can’t hold a candle to Tim in sparring. Even after over two years I don’t last ten seconds if he’s not holding back. I don’t know, I just– I love what I have, what I can do, don’t get me wrong, but sometimes– I guess sometimes I forget when I’m standing next to Tim or Cass or you, and I get too caught up in what I can’t do. I know it ain’t healthy to think that way, but you guys are all so great without any powers, and he–” He glanced up at the photo on the wall. “Well, he was the best.” ─── It's been four years since the family lowered Dick's coffin into the ground, and Jason finally feels like he’s settling into his new job with the BAU. That is, until two people part of an illusive group called ‘Spyral’ arrive in custody. aka. Jason works for the BAU and Dick hasn't come back from Spyral.

Status: Complete; 16,911 words; 8th part of Wings Spread Wide series

Summary: A mass breakout from both Blackgate and Arkham sends 28 of the most dangerous Gothamites out onto the streets. Jim Gordon sends out a call for help. Naturally, his almost-son-in-law brings his team. (For days 3, 5, and 7 of CMxDC week, which gave me the kick in the pants to actually almost finish this damn thing.)

My thoughts: I really like this Dick in the BAU series. It’s got some pretty great Dick characterization and it doesn’t try to diminish the intelligence of all these vigilantes that have managed to keep their identities secrets for over ten years while still portraying the BAU as smart as they are.

"gear" part of a 365 challenge that is now 2 years old but i only have 8 left so yay... featuring Trans Jay: 'He never regretted his days as Robin, for one he probably wouldn’t have realized he was trans without it. Being able to dress up and be known as a boy had been eye opening. He figured out exactly why he was always a little uncomfortable in his own body, and eventually he worked up the courage to tell his family that he was actually a boy.'

I love all the writer interactions on my discord servers so probably no changes there...

Not the year for it but it started as a leverage x Harry potter fusion that might just wind up it own OG work.

Finish at least one or 2 fics from my belated '22 challenge, relook at prompts for CMxDC and see if and how many i want to tackle, decided on candy hearts...

I like my genres and troupes I'm in but am willing to play around.

Uncertain: I feel like I do as much editing as necessary/tolerable, and as I have no on-going yearly 'tasks' I will automatically changing my writing.

I really enjoyed my Clay Art Series of Drabbles so I might see if I can do more with either or both of those. Might use as some low word count exchanges to see if I can perfect this a little more.

No, I already do 3-4 tier save process I can imagine needing an extra method.

Maybe, I do have three started projects that are geting put on high proirity list this year.

Yes, not unless a particular fic gets tons more comment than normal, at current rate of fan interaction it is not necessary to change.

I have done both, I like both. I hate 'feeling' pressured to finish, so tend to horde fic until its done. I did how ever have trouble pacing a multi chapter update once written, IDK how much of that was my deadlines verses my impatience...

I spent some time putting together a reference document for anyone interested in participating in the 2023 Criminal Minds x DC week!

It includes all members of the BAU, and which seasons they come/go during.

Be warned, it DOES contain spoilers.

"As previously mentioned, due to lack of current cases at the moment, we are taking the case based on material sent us by Oracle. They are an information broker, and all of information has been confirmed by Garcia to be valid. New victims appear all over the country, so for now familiarise yourself with those packets and be ready for wheels up immediately when we get notice of a new victim."

"Ough, this is gruesome. Uuuh. Hotch, any confirmation on the cause of death?"

"The victims all had 3rd degree burns or higher. Method of burning is unclear and does not fit any of the most common types, at least according to coroners."

[Lenghty silence. Papers shuffling.]

"This is illogical. The dates on those files must be mistaken. There is no possibility an unsub travelled across the country this fast. Not accounting for the maximum speed of an airplane."

"Pen?"

"Confirming... no, indeed. The travel plans do not fit any recorded flight plans and the unsub moves too fast between cities to travel by any other transportation system."

"So multiple unsubs with common modus operandi then? I guess this would mean... but there is no visible variation in method...

[Converation continues, typing]

"This doesn't make any sense. Guys. Guys! Even accounting for two unsubs, there is no way they travelled between those locations in those timings. There are no planes, commercial or private, who did those or similar routes at that time."

"So three unsubs? That's ... unusual"

Beep. [Distant, sound similar to hearing somebody else's call in the background through a phone call] Calling John Constantine. Calling John Constantine. Beep. [Sharp intake of breath. Muttered "I'm too tired for this. Further sound muted]

Summary:

Spencer Reid has a brother. It’s not technically a secret. If they asked, he would tell them. It’s not his fault they’ve never bothered.

Barry Allen has a brother. Everyone in Central knows it, and so it comes as no surprise that when the particle accelerator explodes, Barry isn’t technically alone.

Or, Spencer and Barry are twins. While most people are aware of this, it somehow hasn’t come up around the BAU team. When Barry is struck by lightning, Spencer’s not-so-secret life unravels before their very eyes.

The interrogator folds her hands on the table. “What about your colleague?” “What about him?” The subject’s voice changes pitch, climbing a little higher, and she uncrosses her legs just to fold them the other way. Something about him unnerves her, or at least talking about him. Derek notes the possibility of the man being her superior. “What do you call him?” “He’s 37.” “And what does he do?” Agent 62 goes to cross her arms but is stopped by the cuffs. She jerkily settles her hands back on the table. “He’s my partner.” ─── It's been four years since the family lowered Dick's coffin into the ground, and Jason finally feels like he’s settling into his new job with the BAU. That is, until two people part of an illusive group called ‘Spyral’ arrive in custody. aka. Jason works for the BAU and Dick hasn't come back from Spyral.
