Our 2025 FAQ!

What is Criminal Minds x DC Week?

CMxDC Week is a week-long fandom event combining the two properties of Criminal Minds and DC Comics - from the Justice League to the BatFam and everything in between!

How do I participate?

A list of prompts will be provided, as chosen by a small group of writers and artists in the Birdwatchers Discord server! There are a total of four prompts (three traditional and one quote) for each of the seven days to mix and match as you please. You may post them whenever you like during the duration of the event. If you post on Archive of our Own (AO3), please add your work to the collection, CMxDC 2025. If you crosspost on Tumblr, make sure to tag #cmxdc2025 and @ this blog so we can be notified and reblog you!

Does it have to be fanfic?

Nope! Art, moodboards, podfics - if you create it, we want to see it!

When does the event run?

The event will begin Monday February 3, 2025 and end Sunday February 9, 2025.

Can I combine prompts?

Please do! In fact, if you think you won’t be able to do all the days, feel free to combine them too.

Can I combine these prompts with other events?

Sure! I’m sure there are other events out there, so go wild.

Can I include NSFW/Dark content?

Sure can! Given the source material, NSFW and dark content are to be expected at times. However, for safety and courtesy reasons, we do ask that you refrain from submitting sexual content involving minors. With everything else, please be considerate and appropriately rate and tag your works. If you attempt to submit something that falls under this subject or is not properly tagged, we will remove it from the collection and will not reblog.

Hi! I know it's late, though I still have an ask.

The prompt "canon-case, hero victim" I assume is meant for using cases from CM episodes in the fic, but could it also be in reference to cases (or events) in the DC canon with a hero victim/involvement that are then given to the team as cases or things to solve?

Never too late to ask!

Honestly, the first interpretation is what we intended, BUT I love your take of it as well!! I say it absolutely counts, I’d love to see what could happen with something like that!

Thanks so much for setting this up, Oli! Does the prompt fill have to be a new work, or can it be a later chapter of an existing work?

(I’m eyeing the fic I started for last year’s xover week and never finished)

Great question! The fill can absolutely be connected to an existing work! Whether it be a new chapter or a new installment on a series, or even art of a piece that already exists that you feel fits the prompt. Go for it!

We are officially 1 WEEK away from kicking off our first ever Criminal Minds x DC Crossover Week! I know I’m excited, so I hope you are too!

As we close in on our first posting day, lets run through some reminders. Below I’ve linked the three biggest things:

Next, I did have a couple people ask, so I’m putting it here as well: this is an all inclusive event. All ships are welcome here, so be free, have fun, and enjoy creating beautiful chaos (should you so please).

Lastly! If you want us to reblog your fics or art here on Tumblr, please make sure to use #cmxdc2023 or #cmxdc submission in your tags so I will be able to find it easily! Make sure to tag and rate things properly as well so we can add it to the collection! Dark and NSFW are, once again, absolutely permitted and encouraged given the typical subject matter within Criminal Minds but it still must be properly tagged. Also, as I realized it wasn’t said - please do not feel rushed to finish your pieces this week alone! As this is the first time running this event, we are leaving the Ao3 collection up for submissions for quite some time (likely 6+ months), and we will continue to reblog pieces on tumblr that @ us and tag properly for another two months after the week ends.
