☆ LoCo (Local Coffee)'s Créme Brûlèe Latte ☆

~PREFACE~

I think I've referenced this relative one too many times so I'm gonna give them a name. Bruv, if you're reading this I'm sorry for doxxing your go-to spots 🙏 Anyway, relative lore, they're somewhat of a distant cousin and an avid coffee fan [bros got their own coffee making stuff from around the world which I would steal whenever I visit--]. And so it'll be more honourable, I'll be referring to them as "Cece (Calx's Cousin)" from now on.

Anyway, the footage is actually theirs because I just ordered the drink recently (yesterday) and it was through Grab food since the hotel I was staying in was somewhat far from another branch. And well I assume it's due to transportation... The drink's good sure but it's not so picture perfect when it arrived.

According to them, it's somewhat of a hidden café since you have to go inside a medical clinic to get to its entrance. And hey, if there's one thing I've learned about where to find coffee, it's usually when it's hidden-- Unfortunately, they said they haven't been there for awhile so they're not sure whether or not it's still open. But, they insisted I try the créme brûlèe latte.

Also, they briefly mentioned about how the coffee there is locally sourced and each one has their own flavour profiles. Unfortunately, I've never tried and neither them since they only ever ordered the same latte (after trying it, couldn't blame them).

Calinog - sweet, fruity, and floral notes Leon - well-balanced with notes of dark chocolate, nuts, and a hint of spice

~THOUGHTS~

Right off the bat, I am not surprised why they would highly recommend this to me. They mentioned how it's like Vietnamese egg coffee without the eggs due to the texture. Sure, it's not like the one in Meraki Cafe in Vietnam but it's akin to the ones content creators make (a more condensed milk-y texture than frothy).

I ordered mine with just 75% sweetness and it's still somewhat sweet. And their coffee is quite refreshing. It's cold brewed too, based on Cece's video. I'm assuming it used Calinog coffee beans since I did catch a mild almost fruity flavour from the coffee.

I shake mine well before drinking so the cream cheese flavour is very subtle. And I noticed a very light, sweet corn taste. Cece told me to have tried the cream cheese foam first before shaking it because I would've understood more of what they meant regarding how it's similar to Vietnamese egg coffee.

Other than that, I find it interesting since other such lattes tend to incorporate eggs. Actually making a créme brûlèe for it with the hard burnt sugar top. Nonetheless, the coffee was quite good.

Also, Cece gave me their footage since they stopped making private vlogs and didn't want the footage to never be put to use. Or at least, shown to the world.

BAD CAFE - Makati (that's the name of the cafe btw)…

another cafe and trying to be productive af and here’s my review as a nobody, cafe critic wannabe…

Coffee: 7/10 (spanish latte was okay, nothing special but it was good)

Foods: N/A (didn’t try)

Desserts: N/A (didn’t try)

Utensils: 7.5/10 (not fragile, serves it purpose)

Price: 8/10

Menu: 7/10 (Graphic wise, readable need to be more cohesiveness)

Ambiance: 6/10 (too bright, it felt like more of a resto vibes not a cafe)

Cozy: 5/10 (nfen, prior criteria says it all)

Music: 9/10 (very chill, mainstream, volume was fair enough to focus or confab)

Work/Study Friendly: 7/10 (lot of power outlets, just the vibes kaya 7 hehe)

Staff: 9/10 (very accommodating and pleasant)

Overall Rating: 7/10 (things can be improve but not necessary, it's just more of my preference in terms of cafe's )

Split Bean Coffee

Review

While at the Tennessee fair this past summer, we saw a lot of vendors. We checked most of them out, but one stuck out for us. One with coffee and smelled amazing. So of course, we had to go and check it out. And are we glad we did. A veteran owned coffee place called Split Bean Coffee. They have their shop not too far from where we live. We promised we would stop by and check it out. But while there we just talked with the owner and his family. They are all so nice. It was nice just chatting with them. And getting a sample. We went to the fair twice and went to their table to buy more coffee since we had tried the first two, we had bought. They were heavenly so we knew we wanted to buy two more. Ryan and I actually went to have coffee and breakfast there last month while our girls were in school. Nice little shop with coffee for sell in bags and other merchandise. Their food that we had was delicious along with the coffee drinks we ordered. I just had a dark roast while Ryan had a Cuban. When you walk in, you are greeted by some very nice staff members and the delicious aromas of freshly brewed coffee. It's clean, it's spacious, and they have plenty of table for you to just sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee and breakfast. They sell ground, whole bean, and even K-cups of their coffee so they think about all of their coffee loving customers.

So Good!

We had a wonderful time at the coffee shop. We hope to go back again soon, but our first experience was definitely enjoyable. And how can we not support a fellow veteran? We understand the scarifies he and his family went through while he was in the military, having to make some of the same ourselves. He is living his dream now with a wonderful coffee shop and delicious coffee beans you can take home to enjoy day after day in your own home. I really hope if you are ever in Lebanon, Tennessee, you will find this coffee shop and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and something delicious to eat. I give this place a 12/10.

Coffee Review

I decided to check out a new grocery store close to where my youngest daughter, Cara, goes to school. I had never been, but always saw it as I drove by. So after having driven past over a dozen times, I turned into the parking lot and parked. The store is a good size and has a lot of great items that I hadn't seen in other stores. And this coffee was one of them.

I had never heard of Wide Awake Coffee company and I was intrigued. So, what did I do? Of course, I bought it. It's tasty, bold, and as it says on the front, rich and creamy. The cat with the wide eyes on the front cracks me up, too. That is what first caught my attention. The store was carrying two at the time, this one, and one with an owl with huge eyes. But I don't remember the flavor of the Owl one.

Would I buy this again? I definitely will, and I might try another flavor or boldness. Plus, I love the crazy animals on the front. They are a crack up.

I've also found them on Amazon, so down below, I will put in a few links for some of their coffee in case you'd like to try coffee yourself. Oh, and they have creamers, too.
