I miss being able to sit and do a thing until it is done. I keep having to take breaks to put my feet up and rest my arms.
But the case fans, power supply, blu ray drive and hard drive cage are all correctly installed in the case (not wired yet), the extra cage is removed, and my next step is to install the mobo standoffs, which requires standing and which I may well have to draft someone else in the family to do. We'll see how I am in an hour or three.
The case fans were finicky and really annoying because the case came with two white fans, and I bought two black fans, and was going to either have two black fans or two white fans in front and one of the other color on each of the back and the bottom. HOWEVER, the case came with ONE set of short screws suitable for back and bottom, and two sets of long front screws. The fans came with install pegs... which are not flat enough to go on the bottom. I couldn't install the white fans in the back AND bottom because not enough of the right, odd screws. So now the front has one black and one white and the bottom has a white with the flat short screws and the back has a black one and I won't see it in day to day because the front panel will obscure them but I KNOW THEY ARE THERE and it bothers me. I may well email the case manufacturer and say, "Dude, you sent eight power supply screws but zero extra short fan screws."
They are not interchangeable. This felt like a missionaries and cannibals problem. (And do we have a less obnoxious, less colonizer name for that puzzle?)
To make up for this headache, the optical drive aligned with EIGHT screw holes and I completely unnecessarily put ALL EIGHT screws in the aligned screw holes and now if I ever somehow need to secure something in the bay below it, I will KNOW where the extra screws are.

Nanosized blocks spontaneously assemble in water to create tiny floating checkerboards
Researchers have engineered nanosized cubes that spontaneously form a two-dimensional checkerboard pattern when dropped on the surface of water. The work, published in Nature Communications, presents a simple approach to create complex nanostructures through a technique called self-assembly. "It's a cool way to get materials to build themselves," said study co-senior author Andrea Tao, a professor in the Aiiso Yufeng Li Family Department of Chemical and Nano Engineering at the University of California San Diego. "You don't have to go into a nanofabrication lab and do all these complex and precise manipulations." Each nanocube is composed of a silver crystal with a mixture of hydrophobic (oily) and hydrophilic (water-loving) molecules attached to the surface. When a suspension of these nanocubes is introduced to a water surface, they arrange themselves such that they touch at their corner edges. This arrangement creates an alternating pattern of solid cubes and empty spaces, resulting in a checkerboard pattern.

*I'm worse than a proud parent*
I mentioned Barbie, so now I gotta share more baby photos

I apparently don't have recent photos of her, the top one is the most recent one on my phone. (God how I don't miss that gross brown carpet in the bottom photos.) Nor do I have any up-to-date photos of her hardware. ☹️ And I'm too lazy to do anything about it right now.
But this was my first-ever PC build and is still my daily driver and gaming beast! I wonder if I'll ever see the day when I can't see the case underneath all the stickers
Will have to take new pictures soon, the translucent red plastic needs to go. It's supposed to mount a fan but the way I have the fans configured and with her current GPU being fuck-off huge, a fan doesn't fit there. Also it's cracked and ugly. So I want to replace it with either plain clear acrylic or tempered glass to keep the airflow balanced and to see the light show better. Honestly leaning toward tempered glass because apparently it's much cheaper than acrylic and looks infinitely prettier

I cannot do programming jobs because inevitably, I get asked if I know high-end programming languages, and I have to break it to the person asking that no. I genuinely only know assembly. I cannot code in a language other than assembly
