I should work on the next Cat Stan Short! (makes this instead)
Anyway.
Bill doesn't know how long he's in the theraprism. Seconds blend into minutes into hours into days into weeks into years into centuries into millennia on and on until time becomes a blur and feelings fade away with memories. Voices he once knew are hazier then the faces they belonged to, and those faces are smudges with sounds instead of names.
Who was that human he was so obsessed with again? There was one, but perhaps the other....?
Whatever. It doesn't matter anymore.
Not the smudges or sounds or voices. Not time or who he was or where he wanted to go.
It took millennia upon millennia to the edge of time and back, but he's ready.
He's going to be reborn.
A different time.
A different place.
As someone new.
Free from everything he was or did.
A fresh start.
With a final bow, Bill Cipher closes his eye one last time-
-And Stanford Filbrick Pines opens his.
The person Stanford used to be is a distant thought in the back of his mind. Like a dream he can't quite remember. He doesn't pay it too much attention, because he's got much more important things to worry about.
Like his freakish hands, the scorn of his peers, the coldness of the hospital, and the fact he can't tear all of it to pieces and burn it to the ground. Whoever he used to be, as distant and smudged as they were, used to wield powers beyond his wildest dreams.
Leaving him with nothing but the desire to see the playground burn to the ground, and nothing to show for it but his brother poking him in the forehead and laughing at his pouty expression.
His brother.
Thats the one part in his new life he knows he lucked out on. As terrifying and haunting as the dreams of who he was are, there's one solid fact that stands out and burns across his heart whenever he tries to sneak a peek. That person, as dead and dust as they are, was alone. They didn't have anyone truly on their side, and they kept burning and burning and tearing things apart to fill that empty void inside of them.
Stanford doesnt need to do that, because he has Stanley. Stanley, his twin brother, who stuck with him through thick and thin, stood up for him when the shame of his hands became to much (Even now, even here, he was always a freak), was his loyal partner in crime and the person he could count on to soothe the raging flames that hungered and cried for him to launch himself at Crampelter and tear his face off.
Stanley doesn't have a person who he was, not like Stanford. (he'd asked once, long ago, about the memories that whispered in his mind. Stanley had just given him an odd look, then told him to get more sleep). He was normal, with regular hands, regular brains, and an understanding of people Stanford knows he used to have (or thought he had) but now lacks.
He lacks a lot of things in his new life, but that's fine. This is a fresh start.
And Stanley was the worlds gift to him. Finally, someone who'd never leave his side. His own person, who's loyalty would never waver, who'd never scheme against him, who is his in every sense of the word.
(That piece of who he was screams and cackles and cries at this. It is the best outcome. It is the worst outcome. It is exactly as it should be).
But there is one thing that bothers him about his brother. One piece that tickles the back of his mind whenever they run and play and cause chaos across this tiny pathetic town they called home.
Stanley did not have memories of who he was, but the person he was right now was.. oddly familiar. Whenever they roam the beach and find something washed ashore in the distance, Stanley's first words are always "I wonder if its a dead body!" Whenever they find rats, twisted and dead along the pier, either from poison or some other means, he always shouts "this is the greatest thing i've ever seen!" When the bullies get too much, and Stanford shoves his hands somewhere no one can see them, Stanley throws his arm around Stanfords shoulders and always says "Someday we'll show them, we'll leave this town in the dust and they'll all be sorry."
Which wouldn't be strange, but as they grow and grow and get older and Stanford learns how to hear the whispers of Before, he finds that Stanley's words echo and harmonize with the voice of Who He Was more and more, until they almost seem to speak together more than apart. Whoever Stanford used to be, Stanley is them in miniature. Stanley's smaller, of course, and less grand and powerful, but there's a thread there that Stanford can't ignore. Something inside him screams that there's a connection, and he just doesnt know how to find it.
It pokes at his thoughts more and more as they get older, go to high school, and Stanley keeps being the echo chamber and shadow of Stanfords previous self. Stanford has grown far beyond that part of him, is different in ways they couldn't hope to achieve, has found new passions in showing off with his mind instead of his might. None of these small minded humans have even a fraction of the knowledge he was born with or devoured growing up. None of them understand the music of the universe or how to twist physics. Stanfords powers are gone, but his mind is still here, and he uses it to excel more and more, dragging Stanley with him as he reaches higher and higher.
Stanley is his brother after all, his eternal companion. If Stanfords going towards the top, then Stanley will too. Even if every day Stanford gets more and more frustrated with his inability to apply himself. He knows his brother can excel if he wants to (maybe not as well as Stanford, but better than he currently is) and doesnt understand why he doesnt.
But its fine. Stanford's going places, and Stanley will follow.
And then its their final year, once high school is done he'll go to college, get a degree, then become world famous. Stanley will be by his side, cheering him on as the embers of what he was finally fade in the light of his soon to be fame.
And then its the science fair.
Then West Coast Tech.
Then the presentation.
And Stanford's fury reignites those embers into an inferno, and he is so full of rage the gaping void that he'd spent seventeen years filling bursts open.
Betrayal.
From the one who was his.
Its terrible in its familiarity.
He watches from the window as the person who was supposed to be his partner, who was supposed to be by his side and help put the terrible specter that screeched in the back of his mind to rest, gets tossed out. Tries to figure out what his purpose was, if all he was going to do was push Stanford to be his best self, then pull the rug out from beneath him and leave him floundering.
Why even have a twin, if all he was going to do was make Stanford feel worse than before. How could he, who in another life reigned terror the likes his current one couldn't comprehend, get saddled with some tiny speck of a human who selfishly-
and then he sees it.
As Pa slams the door, and Stanley tightens his fists, there is a spark.
Blue flames, dancing across his fingers as his brother looks up at Stanford in the window. For the first time in their lives Stanley is facing dire consequences for his actions. For the first time in his life, Stanley is shaken to the core as he looks up at Stanford, face full of desperation. For the first time in their lives, Stanley might lose Stanford forever.
And suddenly the connection that has been poking at the back of Stanfords mind his entire life blazes.
He was powerful, once, an eternity ago. More powerful than anything here or anywhere could imagine. The reasons and whys and hows escape him, but he knows power like that can't be destroyed. Stanford didn't have a drop of it, so it must have gone somewhere.
Into another vessel, the unexpected child, when every doctor swore up and down Ma was only going to have one. A funny story to tell relatives, another reason to distrust hospitals, an odd thing, that every test showed one babe, and then there were two.
Unless whatever process turned who they were into Stanford couldn't handle what he was bringing with him. Unless the excess, the raw power and the personality imprinted on it, was given a hastily made last minute form. Unless they were split in two, so that they'd never be alone again.
Not just his partner.
Not just his twin.
Not just his human, to drag and keep and be his.
His literal other half, who held all of their power and not a thought on how to use it.
A part of him wants to shove the curtain closed. To turn his back on the part of himself that couldn't handle his success. To go on and grow up and finally be his own separate person. To maybe watch from afar as the power he knows is hungrily sitting inside of his brother explode and tear the world asunder.
It would be.... hilarious, to watch Stanley fall apart and not understand why.
But not as hilarious if he accidentally incinerated Stanford, the only one who could help him manage their flames.
And whatever else was bubbling deep inside Stanley's soul.
Stanford raises his hand, watches the tentative smile spread across Stanley's face, and bursts into action. He is furious, but more than that he's curios.
and hungry.
What else can Stanley do, what else carried over to their new lives. He pokes and prods at the pieces of who they were, watches hazy visions of fire, of Sight, of bending the rules of the universe until they broke, even as he flings things into bags and chucks them out of the window down below.
How much is there still, and how much can Stanley use before their meager human vessels fall apart.
Not that Stanford would let that happen.
Stanley owes him after all, and he's going to make sure Stanley pays up until their both standing on top of the world.
Together.
#Hmmm#hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm#HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM#i think i might have read a thing ages ago#about a fun twist to same coin theory being both Ford and Stan being Bill reborn#don't remember the details#but this has been eating me and i need to make room for cat stan#same coin theory#gravity falls#gravity falls au#stan pines#ford pines#dark ford?#he's not bill exactly#but he got bills brains and ego and a fraction of his memories#so he doesnt have that hero core a regular ford would#stanley meanwhile is almost the same#just doesnt (or can't) have any kind of morals#power corrupts here and Bills have been in his soul and is his soul#he inherited Bill's immaturity and personality while Ford got his ego and brains#anyway i'm chucking this out there and running away

"The division between the two families [the Woodvilles and the Nevilles] and their allies can be seen in the royal charters that they witnessed. Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville of York, while serving as chancellor and afterwards, were fairly constant witnesses to royal charters and consequently often appeared together. This was not, however, the case for other family members and friends. From 1466 to 1469, if Scales or Woodville associates like Sir John Fogge, John Lord Audley or Humphrey Lord Stafford of Southwick witnessed royal charters, then members of the Neville group, such as John Neville, earl of Northumberland, or John Lord Wenlock would not, and vice versa. Discounting the ubiquitous Warwick, Rivers and Archbishop Neville, of the twenty-four charters issued between February 1466 and June 1469, twelve were witnessed by men associated with the Woodvilles, eight by men associated with the Nevilles and two were witnessed by no member of either group beyond the two earls at their heads and the archbishop; only two charters, both from 1466, featured associates of both families.
Such striking segregation of witnesses suggests that something more than simple convenience or availability was at play. [...] The evidence of these witness lists does show the extent of the split between the two groups from early in Edward's reign and of the need for political society to work with that cleavage in the heart of the Yorkist regime."
— Theron Westervelt, "Royal charter witness lists and the politics of the reign of Edward IV"
*This is specifically applicable for Edward IV's first reign; in contrast, the charters in his second reign displayed a great deal of aristocratic and domestic unity and cohesion.
#the woodvilles#edward iv#wars of the roses#richard neville 16th earl of warwick#my post#elizabeth woodville#Obviously I hate the idea of Elizabeth and her family being seen as a social-climbing invasive species who banished the old nobility and#drove Warwick/Richard into rebellion and dominated the government and controlled the king and were responsible for Everything Wrong Ever#but I also dislike the 'revisionist' idea that they were ACTUALLY just passive and powerless bystanders or pawns who kept to their#social “place” (whatever the fuck that means). Frankly speaking this is more of a diminishment than a realistic defense.#the 'Queen's kin' (as they were known at the time) were very visible at court and demonstrably influential and prominent in politics#and as this shows there DOES seem to have been a genuine division/conflict between them and the Nevilles during Edward's first reign#(which DID directly lead to the decline of Neville dominance in England though the maintained honored positions and influence of their own)#Especially since Edward's second reign was entirely void of any such divisions - instead the nobility were united and focused on the King#even Clarence and Gloucester's long and disruptive quarrel over the Warwick inheritance never visibly left its mark on charters#so the Woodville/Neville divide from the 1460s must have been very sharp and divisive indeed#And yes it's safe to say that Elizabeth Woodville was probably involved: whether in her own right or via support of her family - or both -#it's illogical to argue that she was uninvolved (even the supportive Croyland Chronicle writes that Edward was “too greatly influenced”#by her; she and her family worked together across the 1470s; she was the de-facto head in 1483; etc)#Enhanced by the fact that Elizabeth was the first Englishwoman to be crowned queen - meaning that the involvement of her#homeborn family marked the beginning of “a new and largely unprecedented factor in the English power structure” (Laynesmith)#This should be kept in mind when it comes to analyzing contemporary views of them and of Elizabeth's own anomalous position#HOWEVER understanding the complexity of the situation at hand doesn't mean accepting the traditionally vilified depiction of the Woodvilles#Warwick and the Nevilles remained empowered and (at least outwardly) respected by the regime#Whether he was driven by disagreements over foreign policy or jealousy or ambition - the decision to rebel was very much his own#Claiming that the Woodvilles were primarily responsible is ridiculous (and most of the nobility continued to support Edward regardless)#There's also the fact that Warwick took what was probably a basic factional divide and turned it into a misogynistic and classist narrative#of a transgressive “bad” woman who became queen through witchcraft and aggrandized a family of social-climbing “lessers” who replaced#the inherently more deserving old nobility and corrupted the realm - later revived and intensified by Richard III a decade later#ie: We can recognize their genuine division AND question the (false/unfair) problematic narrative around the Woodvilles. Nuance is the key.

if i was to ask someone if magical girl animes had magical boys in it most people would say probably not, but there are still a fair amount of like, 90s magical girls that had male counterparts that were in some way tied to the magic in question like card capturer sakura, sailor moon, & shugo chara. even tokyo mew mew gave aoyama a magical form, though the circumstances were kind of different.
it's definitely always been more common for the team to always be girls, but most don't really bother to give a REASON for that unless it's a parody or deconstruction of the genre, though madoka's explanation is moreso that it has to be a very specific group of girls because of the emotions they face & yuuna yuki is a hero has the whole sacrifice/shrine maiden metaphor so textually, it has to be girls Because We Are Saying Something About Gender. but then when you get to modern animes like magilumiere it's more like "oh well men just don't have the right kind of magic to be magical girls" (tho in their defense, that's mostly a technology issue). now that the genre's so well known, it's less "we're telling a story about magical girls" and "i have something to say about magical girls, so all the characters have to be women."
#my gf asked about this like months ago & now every so often i think about it#like magical girl raising didnt bother putting limitations because of the way magical girls were found#it was about having an ideal/interest you loved corrupted by creatures who wanted to use you for power#so the lack of men was simply like... guys dont want to use magical girl apps. unless theyre eggs#& like magical girl doreimi did technically have it gender based but the only requirement for learning magic#was to be found out as a witch by someone#it was just all the witches were girls. bc theyre witches#i think that mecha magical girl anime & daybreak illusion both had it be girls specifically?#but that was also more about inherited power & family#actually no granbelm's wiki says it could be guys too its just modern day magic users are girls#but that being said. theyre both on the darker side#which proves my point about deconstructions being the ones that think more about gender#aster speaks

I’m still trying to banish this headache to the shadow realm BUT.
There is a point in MIC extended war timeline where Brom needs to go somewhere across the country and, because he is a Rider (and because no one else can get through to him sometimes), Arya is assigned to be his guard for the journey. Galbatorix learns of this and Murtagh and Thorn are dispatched to track them down and capture or kill them. Easy enough, right?
Well, Arya is just as feral when on Brom protec duty as she is when on Eragon and Saphira duty. And Brom is the OG, the Forsworn Slayer, He Who Wears Many Capes, master strategist and tactician. Goddamn Odysseus of Alagaesia, hoot hoot motherfuckers oh my god the painkillers are kicking in
So Murtagh and Thorn keep getting into these skirmishes where Murtagh is forced into 1v1 with Arya because Brom picked up on Thorn’s claustrophobia early on. They keep ducking into forests, caves, high walled valleys, city/town ruins, and it is driving Murtagh and Thorn nuts because it shouldn't be this fucking hard!
During the fights Arya is mostly just buying enough time for Brom to get himself away and into a new route/track/populated area/hidey hole and throw off any hopes of tracking before she peels off and goes some other direction and does the same thing that Brom did in a different area. They wait for Murtagh and Thorn to pick whatever direction they choose to try and hunt them down and then backtrack and meet back up to keep going.
A few times, Murtagh does manage to get an upper hand in battle. He's bolstered by the Eldunari Galbatorix gave him, and even though Thorn is a (relatively, aka not tail slapping range) good distance away, he can still contribute. Murtagh has seen Arya fight but he never got a chance to spar with her before he was kidnapped, but even so, his quick thinking and adaptability on the battlefield is very similar to Eragon's and he learns her general battle flow.
Unnnntil he metaphorically backs her into a corner and Arya activates 'Fuck You I'm Feral' mode because he tried to warn her away from engaging with them at the start by saying that he had orders to capture any elf he defeats 1v1 to take them to Uru'baen.
None of them, not a single one of them, Arya herself included, quite understands just...how she did it. But it was on that day, after getting beaten black and blue and having to reactivate his wards with energy from Thorn and the Eldunari time and time again, that Murtagh was rather painfully reminded of all the jokes Arya made while traveling with him after the escape from Gil'ead.
See, it turns out, if you try to roll a particular elf over with your foot while she's faking unconsciousness, sometimes, on the rarest of occasions, when she's absolutely just mad with protective instincts, and the threat of a second round in a Broddring prison cell is on the table...
sometimes that feral elf can, and will, out of sheer 'Fuck You' energy, use instinctive wordless magic to shred the fuck out of your wards and bite down on your kindly offered calf muscle and will not let go until that particular piece of it comes off with her. Along with your boot. Which you never will get back. And even after the war, you're a bit worried about what she did with it.
~~~
'Ebrithal Murtagh, I was wondering. If it's not too, um...personal. What's...what's that scar on your leg from?' "*grumblemumbling* Fecking feral– I mean. Ebrithal Arya...bit me. During the war." '...Wh...what?' *sputtered, ill-concealed snickering down the hall* "Yes, yes, very funny, Arya. You still owe me a new pair of boots and a bloody proper apology!" "Heh. Chomp chomp, motherfffiddlehead ferns, you have a student with you." "Go eat some soap." *beat* "Oh, donnae you say et–" "Bite me."
#Murtagh#murtagh morzansson#murtagh#murtagh (inheritance)#murtagh (eragon)#modern inheritance#inheritance cycle#eragon#the cyclists#the world of eragon#the inheritance cycle#modern inheritance lore#murtagh has a laundry list of things Eragon and Co need to apologize to him and Thorn for#and yeah everyone does indeed oblige them#and they promptly deal with the incident with dark humor forever after!#motherfiddlehead ferns is arya's go to 'oh no i can't corrupt them THIS young...' and i love it
anyway. still reeling over the little part of the pangi-newt conversation lukey heard where newt says he gave lukey a choice about his memories, and pangi says "i mean it's better than keeping it secret. give him the choice- he can decide if he wants to know or not. don't tell him at all- it would make you a bad person"
bc like. if you throw this into the context of lukey making the choice between newt and pangi. newt didn't give him a choice. he never outright told lukey about his feelings. and then pangi saying "if you dont tell him at all it would make you a bad person". oof.
#i dont think any of this is intentional but ouGHH#also the repetition of#how newt was with lukey#and how lukey now is with pangi#lukey making pangi the cure vs. newt helping lukey escape#staying with the other despite a loss of memories#HELPING THEM GET THEIR MEMORY BACK#REFUSING TO DEFINE THEIR FEELINGS#bad almost nailed it when they were talking about the sunflower allegory and told lukey not to make the same mistake#but lukey really hasnt had the opportunity to make the mistake bc he didnt KNOW. its NEWTS mistake he cant repeat.#anyway i have a lot of emotions about this#OH ALSO when lukey was addressing chat about pangi's 'i love you' and he said#'he says that to everyone' OOOUGH#like obviously i dont WANT anything defined but the fact that its the same situation is making me claw at the walls#also sidenote i think it would be cool if bad inherited part of pili's personality and goals from the corruption or whatever. bye.#lauratexts2025#double sidenote lukeys comment about how newt removing his memory and not having the whole picture isnt very scientific fucking winded me.#COOLEST take
What’s your opinion on the Chuck won theory?
I adore it! There's a wonderful GIFset that shows how similar the body language, manner of dress, and camera shots are with Chuck at the end of season 11 versus Jack at the end of season 15, and it blows me away every time. I'll see if I can dig it up. (Does anyone else know it and have a link to the one I'm talking about?)
I like most variations of "God won," from God-the-power winning out and leaving Chuck to jump into Jack to corrupt him a la Godstiel, to Chuck simply possessing Jack. The back half of episode 15x19 is so Charming-Acres-coded, too. I can't think of a GIFset that shows it in all its glory, but it's so conspicuous on rewatching.
EDIT: Just reblogged them a couple posts above this one.
this for mannerisms/body language and this for shots
Actually the fact Archie and Riku bear similarities should not be a surprise. Riku was the precursor blorbo to Lyon, and hence, the precursor influence in developing modern Archie~
#I AM SUCH A SUCKER FOR ENVY AAAAAAAH#I love it it’s such a misguided emotion#the wanting the insecurity the sinfulness of it. sheer perfection. especially when it corrupts.#it’s a feeling both riku and lyon have in spades to the best effect and something I wanted Archie to inherit from them~#And you can sure see the influence!
Ace being jealous of the old pirate because luffy wants to spend time with him 😭
#i said before that ace hates his father but i am going to correct myself and say that he doesnt. maybe mixed emotions bc he is the biggest#pirate ever and apart from casting a biiig shadow it just gives him too much trouble to be his son. like everyone wants him desd just bcuz#ace should be proud to be his son but apart form the inherited strentgh his father didnt give him security (the opposite actually) which is#what he needed (look at shirohige)#so its just having a father thats more a curse than anything else and also youre on your own#i just cant believe he is dead like its so cruel. it fits the whole he died knowing he was loved but apart from all that.....#by all means he should be alive bc the curse is not right. its like blackbeards presence corrupts his story#it wasnt supposed to be like this#defeat means losing your life.... whatever do what you might......#and in marineford he said nah i will survive my execution (and he did)#just now realised that little ace is wearing loeafers like in his execution 😭😭😭#omg ace rocket#i just cant get over how cute little luffy is omg#a comment wondering when did ace become so polite... and dare i say in shirohiges boat..... after the many assassination atempts and the#many bowls of soup on the deck they let him eat in the dining hall and teach him manners lmao#no but ace is not like luffy in that regard even as children..... i am sure on his own he is fine but when he gets with sabo and luffy it#turns wild#talking tag#watching one piece#episode 499
Prayer Against Idolatry, Treason, and Betrayal
In the Name of Jesus Christ, the Risen King
Heavenly Father,
In the mighty name of Jesus, I come before You with a heart crying out for cleansing, justice, and restoration. I repent for every form of idolatry—whether in my life, my family, or my nation. You have commanded clearly in Exodus 20:3-5, “You shall have no other gods before Me... for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God.” I renounce every idol—whether of wealth, fame, politics, comfort, or false religion—that has dared to exalt itself above You, Lord.
In the name of Jesus, I ask You to break every generational curse tied to idolatry. Expose every hidden relic, symbol, or spiritual doorway in my home or bloodline that grants evil access. Let every altar erected against You be torn down by the fire of the Holy Spirit. Where I or my ancestors have committed spiritual treason—bowing to other gods, placing trust in man, or betraying Your truth—I ask for divine mercy and deliverance.
Lord Jesus, we stand in the gap for our nations. We boldly call out the treason, idolatry, and betrayal in the high places of government, media, education, and even the church. Where leaders have bowed to mammon, compromised truth, or betrayed their people for power and gain—expose, uproot, and judge with righteousness. Let the fear of the Lord return to our land.
We declare Habakkuk 2:3 over every promise You have given: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time... though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” We trust You, Jesus, to bring justice in Your perfect timing, even when we don’t see it yet.
As it is written in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” So Lord, in the name of Jesus, we humble ourselves. We turn. We seek You. Heal our hearts. Heal our families. Heal our nations.
Jesus, be enthroned again in our hearts and in our land. No longer will we serve the gods of this world. No longer will we remain silent while darkness prevails. In the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare: Every idol must fall. Every traitor to righteousness will be exposed. Every act of betrayal will be judged.
Amen, and Amen.
Patterns are patterning.
#i'm not the biggest fan of breed#i think she's made some big mistakes playing into rightwing narratives about san francisco#and she's more centrist than me and there are some corruption issues#but seeing another woman of color who has basically been a career public servant defeated by inherited wealth is uggggh#the tech money in the city is really pushing politics in a scary direction#so many people want to live in the disneyland version of the quirky city they moved to in 2014 not realizing they killed it
