of course, he sees Moon and Eclipse emote all the time. he usually attributes it to Moon being a fool (believing he is something he's not) and Eclipse being manipulative (given that he was originally built for the theater)

but there is a part of him that wonders if he is missing something—he just doesn’t understand what that is

-I noticed that virgo placements are more inclined to smoke weed and I think it's because they're always anxious, so they need something to chillax them.🥲

Language Habits:

Uses aave/bae

Like Raph and Leo, he will verbalize his attacks, but notably less than the aforementioned two. His most common phrases: "power whip jitsu" (chain moves), and "power fun jitsu" (use of his fire)

Sensitive, he's easily swayed by the emotion or pathos of others (read: gullible). This also mean his ego is easily damaged, which can contribute to his competitiveness with Leo at times and his inferiority complex with Raph babying him

The emotional heart of the team, he keeps the brothers grounded in empathizing with others

Energetic. Mikey's the wildcard. No one can guess what's coming out of his mouth next, and his fighting style is very innovative. All his energy gives him a charming amount of "razzmatazz"

Firey. Mikey's a pretty expressionate guy. He doesn't hide his emotions, and he doesn't really hide his anger. Sometimes this comes out in his bluntness, and sometimes this comes out in strained rage that has a boiling point

Looks up to his brothers. He has a lot of admiration for his older brothers. Whenever he's put in a corner he thinks what would Raph do, he's grateful for Leo's advocacy, and likes spending a lot of time with Donnie and his inventions. He also has a need to prove himself to his older brothers due to his admiration

In a shocking show of mercy, the High Council of the Landsraad has decreed the pardon of the last Bourbon:

After a week-long raid on their home planet Sabberon, the House of Bourbon has been declared dissolved; following the Tsarist-Duchal ruling family's sentencing to death at the Harko Arena on Giedi Prime. 

The counter-insurgent attacks enacted by House Harkkonen have been ruled by the High Council as 'Penitent Crimes of Retaliation' following the damning allegations of espionage and theft of Harkonnen technology and intelligence. 

The House of Bourbon is succeeded only by the sole heiress and daughter of the Tsar, whose betrothal to the na-Baron of House Harkonnen has been abruptly terminated by the High Court of the Landsraad.

The daughter, who carries the bloodline of both House Bourbon and House Ginaz, has by decree of the High Council of the Landsraad been pardoned of the Harkkonen sentencing of political imprisonment, and subsequently has been determined not guilty of her accused crimes in association with the Bourbon plot. The case’s arraignment is set for a few months' time. 

As once-standing political allies to the House Atreides, the Lady Bourbon has been decreed to wed to the son of Duke Leto Atreides by the closing of the standard year.

A muffled crash of falling plates rolls through the dampened halls of Castle Caladan; a faint gasp echoing in response, soft rumbling murmurs in their wake. 

Paul does not bat an eye. 

In the corridors behind him, servants pass — they carry with them dishes, plates, crates filled to the brim; Ladies walk by briskly with emerald velvet draped across their arms, returning from the washrooms with dutiful, quiet whispers. 

A celebration has been planned with the news of Duncan’s return. Ceremonial, Paul had been told earlier – an acceptance of the Tsarist-Duchal family in a time of exigency, a welcomed embrace from one Great House to another. But something has changed now — the Housestaff walk with wide eyes and whisper in quiet gulps; the guest wing has remained unprepared, the grounds have not been arranged for a large reception, the cooks have not wrought in more than the usual baskets of crabs and seacatch. Hearths die dim in the absence of tending. 

Something is not how it should be. 

It had just as clearly been written into the faces of those he passed on his way to his father’s study just now; worry, anticipation —  change.

Paul knew there was something wrong when he was woken from his sleep earlier than he usually rises for training — though what followed this dismal morning amidst the onslaught of rainfall was not breakfast, nor training, nor lessons; Merely a request to attend his father's study as soon as possible.

Should there have been any such doubt as to the shift in the air this morning, it would easily have been eliminated by the seal stamped upon the message his father has deposited on the desk in front of him to read: A gleaming, unmistakable seal. The High Council's signet. 

Teardrops pelt the study’s windows in a violent onslaught. Another crash, this time deeper in the bowels of the castle; The world breathes and stirs around him, though he cannot feel it. Instead, Paul Atreides stands, shellshocked in his ceremonial uniform.  

A breath falls almost forgotten from disbelieving lips.

“Married?”

Two solemn faces stare back at Paul. 

"Yes,” his Lady mother affirms, eyes cooled in the wet light of morning dim.  

The shock of his mother's bluntness has never been quite so abnormal before; though in the moment he takes to swallow down the information, his father clears his throat gently, his mother awaits with a steadied spine. The room shortens; a hazy thought lingers in Paul's mind, though he cannot yet taste it. Gurney Halleck, who sits in the corner, absently plucks the strings of the Baliset upon the wall — far too casual, it stirs the pit within Paul's stomach. 

Married.

A far effort to wade through the thickening marsh of his mind. Paul's lips part with a disbelieving huff before he murmurs, "I thought Duncan was returning with Duke Bourbon and his family." Dark brows furrow only the slightest - the fruitful reaping of a lifetime schooling emotions into placidity; a weakened throat constricting as he glances at the message unread before him. "Where is this coming from?" 

His words hang, suspended in a silence as tense as it is regretful; beyond the high-climbing cliffs, the sky cries slowly.

A shift of weight from his father, a sigh deep from his chest. "Their house has fallen. Duncan Idaho returns from Geidi Prime this evening." 

His words come with no such semblance of comfort — the blood drains from Paul's face, his heart thumping into his throat. Duncan returns from Geidi Prime — not the Bourbon's homeplanet, Sabberon.

It is a valiant fight to not sway upon his own feet, a rushing surrealism hitting his mind in a haze: When the Atreides Swordsman had been deployed, there was not even a whisper or a word of marriage — not a single consideration of betrothal, nor of Paul’s involvement whatsoever. 

It was an expedition — to aid an old ally, against the oldest foe that House Atreides has. Paul’s lips purse in the bitter defiance that courses through his veins. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. A foolish thing to think. 

It is slow, the realization that blossoms first as a seed of doubt and soon to a flower of disgust. "I am to be wed to..." His sentence is interrupted by a choking of his own saliva, a vicious turn of reality upon him.

Wed, to one of those monsters from Geidi Prime? The bile that rises in his throat is of disdain, of hatred — he is expected to marry a monster? 

It is not some act of childish dissent; to be a future Duke is to understand from a young age that marriage is not for love, but for the good of the House, of their people. 

Paul has long awaited a future marriage of convenience, of strategy; but to be wed to one of them is an entire new blade of danger. 

"A Harkkonen?" Paul snaps, bitter and sharp as the glare thrown towards his father’s windless visage. And as if only some slight error, some amusement sparks within his father’s gaze; with a slight tilt of the head, Leto Atreides declines the accusation of his son.

"No."

Lips part in a puffing sigh of relief, hidden only by the flaring confusion which wraps around his ribs and nestles itself into his beating heart.

Across the room, a Houseworker sets down a teapot and cups with flickering eyes before scurrying out of the room once more. His father, after a glance to his mother, resumes with a firm tone, soothing over the sheets of rain cascading outside.

"She is not a Harkkonen, Paul,” He insists, “Though she has resided on Giedi Prime for nearly four years. She was, up until yesterday, to be wed to the Baron's nephew." 

There's another silence, in which the rain slides down glass panes like tears.

"–She's one of Idaho's." Halleck delivers the information rather off-handedly, shifting weight in the corner; Paul, in turn, stares at the man previously occupied with tuning the baliset. A fuzzy sensation as he blinks — one of Duncan’s?

Paul's bewilderment must reflect poorly upon his countenance; his father sighs. "Her mother was the eldest child of the House Ginaz. Duncan Idaho trained with her mother and father at the Ginaz Swordmaster School. It's why he insisted on going to Geidi Prime after Sabberon fell — she is now the heiress; the last of the House Bourbon." 

The words soothe only the immediate hackles that a Harkonnen bride brought upon his mind; and although the distrust has begun to slither through his mind, simply Paul nods, clearing his throat. 

"–And as part of the High Council's rulings..." His hand gestures weakly towards the sigil atop the message, resigned to the fate which has been inscribed within its contents. "Now, we will marry." 

A curt nod affirms the dread coiling within his gut; and the string severs with the glance from Gurney. Paul’s cheeks heat, be it the attention or the frustration of such news. His father, knowing well the troubles of a brilliant young mind, has begun to lay out the battlemaps: "We believe it is for the best. She was nothing but a political prisoner." Duke Leto does not need to duck to catch his son's attention - though in a split moment, Paul meets his mother’s eye; within her gaze is that humming feeling, that flicker of knowledge which sets his teeth on edge.

His father continues. "She is still close with her aunt, the Lady Ginaz. If anything changes along our routes following the Referendum, we will need House Ginaz’s allyship."

It's not a horrible plan of action, Paul's mind reminds him. Gurney plucks a wiry string in the corner; the message sits unread before him, mocking his spiteful stare.

The council of Houses Major, choosing to whom he is to marry; what a twisted, thorny fate. Bitterness is a taste unpleasant as any; and it is made worse when his own Lady Mother speaks up. "Paul. The Reverend Mother found it pertinent-" 

But any words she might advise are drowned out by the ringing in his ears, by the words inscribed as he begins to read the message for himself. The ruling is firm — he is to marry you. 

Perhaps his mother speaks on, but all that echoes is your name; a bell, hollow and cracked, chiming into an empty hall. His mother’s reinforcement: You will be a smart pair. It is a good match. 

The string of fate is severed. A seed of suspicion planted through his mother's insistence: you, a girl from a House fallen from grace, protected by the Landsraad court — a good match. Doubt creeps down his spine — Whispers around his mind, a forgotten promise that lingers only when the shores of conscious pull at the fringes of dreams. Bene Gesserit. A spy for Harkonnen ears. All part of some mechanic political stratagem; and he, in the center of it. Paul, actionless, to be wed to a woman who was made for another. 

To be wed to one of the Harkonnen's beasts.

He meets his father's eyes, and they warn him.

Round 3 - Chondrichthyes - Myliobatiformes

Our first order of rays are the Myliobatiformes, or “Stingrays.” This order includes the families Zanobatidae (“panrays”), Hexatrygonidae (“Sixgill Stingray”), Dasyatidae (“whiptail stingrays”), Potamotrygonidae (“river stingrays”), Urotrygonidae (“American round rays”), Gymnuridae (“butterfly rays”), Plesiobatidae (“Deepwater Stingray”), Urolophidae (“round rays”), Aetobatidae (“pelagic eagle rays”), Myliobatidae (“eagle rays”), Rhinopteridae (“cownose rays”), and Mobulidae (“devil rays”).

Myliobatiformes are characterized by their enlarged, expanded pectoral fins being completely fused to their head and body, called a “disc”. Their disc shape ranges from diamond to subrhombic to lozenge-shaped. They are also characterized by the presence or absence of a single small dorsal fin, a long whip-like tail, and one or more stinging spines on the upper tail base (some species have secondarily lost this spine). As a defense mechanism, stingrays will flail their pointed or barbed tails and lodge the spine within a potential predator while they escape. The spine eventually grows back. As rays, their eyes and spiracles are on the dorsal side of their body while their gill slits, nostrils, and mouth are on the ventral side. Most myliobatiformes have blunt, pavement-like teeth for crushing hard-shelled prey and bony fish, though Manta Rays are planktonivore filter-feeders. They give birth to live young, usually 1-10 per litter, depending on species. This is a highly diverse group, and the second largest order of batoids (rays).

Myliobatiformes arose in the Early Cretaceous.

Most stingrays are not aggressive if left alone, and some are even curious and friendly. The Cownose Rays (Rhinoptera) especially are known for this behavior, and are often the species of choice for touch tanks in public aquariums, as they will actively seek out attention. In my family’s experience, my sisters and mother were swimming in the ocean two Summers ago, and my sister patted what she thought was my mom’s foot after it bumped her on the back. She then realized it was a Cownose Ray (Rhinoptera bonasus) when another one tripped my other sister! A school of them was playing in the shallows and had decided to mess with my family. (I only ever get pinched by crabs and spooked by jellies when I enter the ocean ;_;)

Uniquely for its family, the Porcupine Ray (Urogymnus asperrimus) lacks a venomous tail spine. Instead, it defends itself with the many large, sharp thorns found over its disc and tail. Due to its thorny hide, this now endangered ray has historically been a very valuable source of shagreen.

The Giant Oceanic Manta Ray (Mobula birostris) is the largest stingray, growing up to 9 m (30 ft) long, 7 m (23 ft) wide, and weighing about 3,000 kg (6,600 lb), though the average size commonly observed is half that.

Around 35 cm (14 in) in width, the Bluespotted Ribbontail Ray (Taeniura lymma) is one of the most venomous species of stingray and is known to have an excruciating sting. Nevertheless, it is popular with home aquarists for its small size and beautiful coloration. Despite this, it is not well suited for captivity, being a very shy species and prone to refusing to feed. Seldom have hobbyists been able to keep one alive for long in home aquariums. Professional, public aquariums have had much better luck with the species, even maintaining breeding programs.

The composition of venom in freshwater stingrays appears to differ from that of marine stingrays.

Stingrays that live in the deep sea, such as the Deepwater Stingray (Plesiobatis daviesi) and the Sixgill Stingray (Hexatrygon bickelli) are flabby and almost goopy, with a skate-like appearance. The deep sea changes folks.

When threatened, the Crossback Stingaree (Urolophus cruciatus) raises its tail over its disc like a scorpion, as a warning.

Spotted Eagle Rays (Aetobatus narinari) sport 2-6 venomous, barbed spines at a time, but the most danger they have presented to humans so far is via their leaping from the water at the wrong place/wrong time! On at least two occasions Spotted Eagle Rays have been reported as having jumped into boats, and in one incident this sadly resulted in the death of a woman in the Florida Keys. Otherwise, these rays appear to be curious about humans and will sometimes slow down to inspect snorkelers if the human is not acting threatening.

The Chilean Devil Ray (Mobula tarapacana) is one of the deepest-diving ocean animals, traveling from the surface to feed at depths of up to 1,896 metres (6,220 ft). A veined structure of blood vessels warms the ray's brain at colder depths. These rays stay near warmer surface water for at least an hour both before and after deep diving, suggesting that they are soaking up heat to prepare for and recover from their descent into colder water.

Manta Rays (genus Mobula) are incredibly smart. They were the first “fish” in the world to pass the “mirror test” (ie show self-awareness by recognizing themselves in a mirror rather than seeing the reflected image as another manta ray). They also have highly-developed long-term memory, form friendships, and play with each other by blowing bubbles and breaching out of the water.

Steve Irwin’s death was a freak accident. He was swimming and passed overtop a 2 m (6.7 ft) long Short-tail Stingray (Bathytoshia brevicaudata), and the animal reacted reflexively to his shadow by stabbing its barbed tail repeatedly into what it perceived as a predator. By an insane stroke of bad luck, the spine from the stingray’s tail pierced right through into Steve’s chest. (And no, the barb did not become lodged and he didn’t pull it out; that’s a rumor. Venom or no, there’s not much you can do about being stabbed in the heart.) Fatal stings are very rare, and only around 20 stingray-related deaths have been recorded in history. Steve loved all animals and would not have wanted people to hold his death against literally all species of stingray, let alone the single one that accidentally took his life. Even as a joke, using Steve Irwin to hate on an animal does a great disservice to his legacy. So if I hear a word of stingray-hate in Steve’s name, I’m calling the guards. >:C

i feel like he would smoke to relax, not necessarily to get high-- he's on stress overdrive 24/7, especially during comeback season,, he smokes to finally make his brain go quiet for at least a night

i see him the most like his sober self, quiet and content and not really paying much attention to anything

a lot of worm's issues basically have the effect of pulling a hermit crab out of it's shell, exposing something to sun to early and too fast and too harshly. shard influence introduces a fairly fulfilling autistic lens you can view the entire work with; nonetheless, when Labyrinth's experience is first discussed, the book does this awkward and unfulfilling dance of "oh so she's autistic" "nope, her superpowers did that to her, actually", denying it the chance to resonate like at all. like taylor just says that and then the other characters have to address it. some concepts are given a slow burn, some characters are allowed mysteries; but that grace is not extended to anything that, for instance, would be right annoying to see beaten to death by an early 2010s web serial comments section. in effect Taylor has a special character trait or power where she blurts out something over-blunt and suspect, and then the text warps around clarifying that no, actually, it's more ~complex~ than that — when not just confirming it as accurate! it is as though Taylor is being co-opted by Wildbow's model of his audience, and all the world around her co-opted by his response. and this is very awkward. and sometimes she cares about drugs in a way wildbow never actually set up because he genuinely doesn't know how to address the topic but to put it all on the table and then confirm that taylor is right about all the worst parts. this is because he's weird and annoyingg

tighnari + wanderer headcanon

this may seem a bit unrealistic, but i like to imagine that tighnari knows how to repair/help wanderer whenever he is injured.

this is mostly sourced from the fact that tighnari is taking care of karkata (if i have the name right), who is a mechanical lifeforce in the form of a crab.

one day i may write a oneshot between tighnari and wanderer, where tighnari is trying to help wanderer with an injury.

wanderer, of course, is a traumatized fellow and more than likely associates being repaired with dottore and maybe even ei if you stretch it far enough.

so tighnari would have to be extra careful and patient with the guy, you know? i feel like tighnari would be a big help emotionally with a lot of things for wanderer.

because yeah, tighnari is both strict and blunt, but he's also one of the most understanding, reasonable, and accomodating people in the entire game.

although annoyed with tighnari at first since the scenario may trigger him, i imagine that once everything settles, wanderer begins to appreciate tighnari.

and, over the course of a few years, tighnari becomes wanderer's sole and preferred doctor, refusing help from anyone else (because the guy is stubborn like that).

he would silently sit around waiting for tighnari to be done with his work, not caring how long it takes tighnari, whether it be hours or days. he patiently waits for when tighnari is available to help.

wanderer would try to repay tighnari in small ways,, such as collecting herbs or material for tighnari without tighnari asking. he's an act of service kind of guy imo.
