shout out to that one time i joined an origins minecraft server and it was clearly a well-loved server at least for a few people since spawn was surrounded by builds and stuff but it didnt have a spawn structure

and if you dont know about the origins mod you wont know how important a spawn structure is. basically the origins mod is like choosing a species for your character to be (though it usually doesnt have visual changes, just gameplay ones), and some of them cant just spawn into the world as easily as the others

for example, one i like to default to is the phantom origin. however, the phantom origin has a downside of BURNING IN THE SUNLIGHT.

and theres also one thats basically being a fish. so you cant breathe outside of water.

you can imagine my immediate panic when i chose my default phantom origin and began dying the moment i spawned in XD

drives me fucking crazy that people get so aggressive if you say you're running an old OS. always just jump right to tearing into people and demeaning them for...what, really? i've still got my 8.1 MSI as my main computer because i just dont have the money for a new laptop right now and this model has been known to brick with 10. so why the fuck would i upgrade and risk bricking it when i can't even afford a new machine?

Some bad news...

My PC wouldn't stop turning on and off due to the power supply having issues, so I took it to the repair shop yesterday and hopefully it will be fixed. Now I'm using this craptop from 2014 as last resort and it's slow AF. Sorry for the lack of updates!

In the modern era, Khonshu finds it's those who lost their faith that make the most loyal followers, because the desire to believe in something never went away, even when the gods did. Part of why he holds his own bitterness for the Ennead, who would rather give up if they couldn't dominant an entire empire. No wonder mortals lost faith.

Join me, Khonshu would say to the broken, the abandoned. Join me, be my hands, and together we will get things done.

He considers offering it now. No. Not yet, at least.

"Am I not responding to you now?" Khonshu says-- responding, more than listening! If only it was always this easy. This also wasn't prayer, in fairness. Adding an aspect of faith made things tricky, so Khonshu would leave no room for doubt. "I would. Assuming such words reached me across universes. Which can be arranged."

He shifts a bit, having made up his mind. "I have something for you, O'Hara. Hold out your hand."

I was not informed you had returned. How nice that you did not perish. The chaos that would have caused in the Society... Encouraging, that it's at least temporarily able to function in your absence. I'm not sure I expected that.

With a slight start, Miguel grunts, wiping his hand across his face-- feeling the last vestiges of a barely-restful nap fade away from his body.

When had he fallen asleep? One moment he was doing some much needed work on the Spider-Society's servers, the next he… well. Woke up to a dark office with the only light source being the swarm of holoscreens still left on.

Rubbing his eyes, Miguel glances around, groaning softly at the crick in his neck and his stiff back. He's getting too old to be falling asleep at his desk. But, well, he's up now. And... of all things, one of the screens signals a new message on his godforsaken blog.

...

What.

No. No way. He- he must be having some sort of mental break, or he's so sleep-deprived that he's hallucinating-- which logically won't happen for at least another day and a half-- because.

Shocking what? Is- is that Khonshu? The same god that seems to stalk him intermittently around HQ. That shouldn't exist. Ever. Much less send a-- who is he kidding; this isn't even the weirdest thing to happen to him in a month.

He doesn't reply-- in fact, he barely even skims over it. But... the last couple lines do stick with him. He hasn't been outside for anything other than battle in a while.

It's not because a god suggested it, he tells himself, as he takes the elevator up. It's just because they both happened to think it, he continues, as he makes his way up to the very top of the building; pushing up on a skylight. It's because he needs to breathe something other than stale office air.

The moon shines brightly over Nueva York tonight.

Perhaps most so, over the lone figure, navy blue and red so stark against the white of the building, sitting there, letting the crisp night wind run through his hair and the unfiltered sounds of the city fill his ears.

For the first time in a while, Miguel feels... at ease.

well, after scouring for around 4 hours, I found the updated release of dramatical murder and the uncensored patch too (I think? lol, haven't confirmed that yet bc I haven't gotten that far). anyways, I'm taking screenshots for reasons I guess lmao

windows is so desperate for people to use microsoft edge that they changed their lock screen thing, which is a bunch of images of nature and it had a button for saying 'i like this image!' or 'i dont like this image!' and i liked saying i like the images because i did

but they changed it so that if you press 'i like this image!' it actually now says 'i like this image! i would like to learn more about it!' so if you press that button, once you log into your computer it automatically opens a microsoft edge search for the location from the image

Had he believed he was owed something in return for accepting a favor? Khonshu didn't have to offer anything in the first place. Balance was still maintained, then.

Khonshu wouldn't pretend to understand how... whatever he was offering was balanced, even as he explained, seemingly submitting himself to some kind of talk. Khonshu straightened to full height, staring down at him as he laid on the bed. He must find this relaxing, somehow.

"That's your aim?" The god all but laughs. "It took you years of study to be able to 'look after' your fellow man. I have watched your species evolve from microscopic specs in ancient waters, witnessed every human before you live, crawl, fight and die. What textbook do you believe has prepared you to care for the unknowable?"

Yes, more or less-- it did bother him. He was well beyond being looked after, even by his fellow gods, and a mortal thinking himself capable was the height of arrogance! Arthur was a fool. And Khonshu was indulging him.

Arthur had a knack for making the ridiculous seem completely reasonable, if only for a moment or two. A silver tongue of quiet but unabashed confidence, like the answer was so obvious, but he was helpfully explaining it anyway. Khonshu was not a child to be humored. He hadn't asked Arthur a question. He had stated his intent and all but made a demand.

It's idiotic, certainly Arthur's mockery of his voice, which has Khonshu scoffing. Did he understand the idea of Arthur wanting to take care of things with his own hands? Yes. Perhaps he did. And he appreciated Arthur acknowledging that Khonshu's gifts were unique, that not everyone suffering pain had relief a thought away. (Or maybe Arthur meant that not all Avatars had their patron leaning over to demand the right to heal. Both would be true.) It only became something else at the final sentence.

"Pah!" Khonshu barked, offended, though not enough to do anything but complain. "Relieving your pain is my offer, and yet you want more? My divine intervention is such a burden to you that it requires a trade!" Maybe he'll deny him access next time. He probably won't, but it's a nice thought.
